What is this Atlantic Cup that is being played at the moment? .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It's a pre/mid season tournament for European clubs from leagues that don't play during the winter months, so it's mostly Scandinavian and Russian teams.}

08 Feb 2018 22:04:23
Yeah, saw Shamrock Rovers were playing some Scandinavians, .

{Ed007's Note - I bet that was a corker! ;)

08 Feb 2018 23:37:32
😂, yes.

{Ed007's Note - Right up there with Burnley v Huddersfield.}

Good to see strong financial report for last six months of 2017.

Thats what happens when u rake it in and spend little😂🇮🇪.

Agree2 Disagree1

09 Feb 2018 16:04:46
It's better to get it in and spend little, than to spend big and get little in .
It makes absolutely no sense either, to spend big just for the sake of spending big .
I am sure Celtic could have signed a number of players at £6, £8 or even £10m but if Brendan didn't feel they could integrate into our team and strengthen, then there would be no point in spending the money.

Agree1 Disagree3

09 Feb 2018 16:42:18
Even better to get it in and spend big too.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Feb 2018 23:15:23
what is your fascination in spending money? Just spending money doesn't guarantee success.

Ed what's your thoughts on the Caulker deal to Dundee is this a real bat in the mouth for Rodgers or was he no really interested in him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It's an odd one but I wouldn't be surprised if Rodgers had a hand in him moving to Dundee, someone put them together.}

08 Feb 2018 20:41:18
Aye kind of think that we have been after him he turned us down wanting to stay at home 6 weeks ago now he's up in Dundee how far away from London can u get. It might be soure grapes on our part but as u say someone had to put them together oh well good luck to the big man. Just one thought a bit out there but BR maybe put them together to get Hendry?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It was last summer that Rodgers wanted to bring him in and Caulker wanted to stay in London.}

09 Feb 2018 10:31:46
There was an interview on sky where he spoke about being Close the last 6weeks before i just thought that he was talking about joining a club thought that club was Celtic but clearly we were not after him in January.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Feb 2018 11:01:34
Maybe BR helped him to go to Dundee with an eye on him coming to Celtic next season depending on his performances and off field activities etc. Dundee will be fine for him less pressure etc etc. Coming to us at this stage might be a step too soon. Good luck to him anyway.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Feb 2018 13:51:32
Think BR has told caulker to go to an spl team and earn a move to Celtic.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

08 Feb 2018 14:00:58
Sorry Sammy my take on this move, is Brendan and Caulker are not so friendly as perhaps our manager thought they were.

Agree0 Disagree3

08 Feb 2018 14:07:36
Why would caulker move to dundee the only sense I can make of it is to prove to BR that he has his head right and to prove his form and fitness.

Agree1 Disagree1

08 Feb 2018 14:34:35
Something a bit strange in this for me.

Agree2 Disagree1

08 Feb 2018 15:05:09
Maybe Rogers just didn't want him or think he was worth the risk?

Agree1 Disagree2

08 Feb 2018 15:33:25
Seems more like it kev. Although i do have a concern that we may have missed a trick here.

Agree1 Disagree2

08 Feb 2018 15:37:55
Surely they can't be paying him much it wouldn't have been a risk imo.

Agree2 Disagree1

08 Feb 2018 15:40:35
I’m the same guys, strange one and can’t help but feel we’ve missed out here.

If the guy is 50% of what he was he’ll walk it up here. Could have done with someone rock solid in there.

Time will tell.

Agree1 Disagree1

08 Feb 2018 16:04:56
There has been a few teams looked at him. Sure he trained with West ham but no one took the gamble.
The risk isn't in the money bigsammy but in the fact that we sign him and he has a major set back and it affects the squad.

Agree0 Disagree2

08 Feb 2018 16:31:07
I'd have offered him 6 months but if he does well at dundee I think Celtic will be interested I'd prefer we had Erik and caulker in the squad instead of Hendry atm.

Agree1 Disagree3

08 Feb 2018 17:00:49
Is the Caulker thing a real thing, or just a thing that somebody put together in their own mind, as a guess? A backstory that is just conjecture. I’m interested if the claim Rogers advised it as a way to get to us seems, well, made up.

Agree2 Disagree1

08 Feb 2018 17:17:11
It's a theory that's all MP.

Agree1 Disagree1

08 Feb 2018 17:18:52
Couldn't agree more magicpole.
All people saying that he's better than what we have really have no idea if he is.
He's hardly kicked a baw in the last few years and is battling some demons.

Agree1 Disagree2

08 Feb 2018 17:55:57
I asked Ed the question about him last week because I heard that he was comming up, but that he was going elsewhere. He might be tight for money, and we offered him a pay per play and they are giving him 3K a week.

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Feb 2018 18:36:34
I think we have bought the T shirt on crocked/ dodgy centre halves and to gamble on yet another risky prospect was never really on.
I am not saying Hendry is the answer, but it is an area we really need to settle along with a quality goalkeeper, if we are to progress in European competition and stop those hammerings in the CL groups.

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Feb 2018 18:51:05
Only time will tell if we missed out maybe if he proves is fitness and quality we will sign him.

Agree1 Disagree1

08 Feb 2018 20:19:53
The boy Caulker says he turned us down 6 weeks ago wanting to stay in London 6 weeks is clearly a long time in football that he's sorted and think Mcann can help him get back to football and being happy fair play to him everyone deserves happiness.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Where did Caulker say he turned down Celtic 6 weeks ago?}

08 Feb 2018 21:01:54
How the eff could you be happy anywhere near mc cann .

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Feb 2018 22:26:46
Maybe he has realised he needs games and that would not be guaranteed at our club. So he spends the rest of season getting games and match sharpness for a decent move. Dundee might get a nominal fee in the summer which covers any outlay they have the now. Everybody wins. Or he messes up, pulls injuries and Dundee loss a few quid. Either way don’t bother us.

Agree2 Disagree0

09 Feb 2018 11:01:00
Prove himself till end of season maybe lads, if all goes well take him then.

Agree2 Disagree0

09 Feb 2018 16:11:34
Caulker is better signing for a club who plays in front of a small crowd . With his health problems the last thing he needs is to play in front of 50,000 Celtic fans, some who can be very critical of a mistake.

Interesting how many know how good or how bad a signing he would be, none have seen him since his illness.

I was living in London at the time and I was at that game in Wimbledon's old Plough Lane ground. Gascoigne was the young up and coming star at Newcastle and a guy I shared a flat with was a Geordie and a massive Toon Army fan. I also remember that day in a painful way, a Police horse outside the ground stood on my foot. Flippin painful and my foot swelled up to the size of a Sevvy fan's head! lol HH.

Ive often wondered if gazza would have turned out the way he was if he had went to man utd under fergie, pains me to say it but his goal against scotland is one of the best i've seen.
