Apparently the fit and proper person regulations does not come into play when it concerns the sevco, seen EBT Ogilvie being interviewed on TV earlier, when asked about Paul Murray possibly getting on the sevco board and the fact that he was banned for 5 years, ebt ogilvie says now the rule is every case shall be looked at individually. they're changing the rules again, they always change the rules when it has any bearing on sevco, they never change the rules when it concerns any other football club, indeed, when it concerns any other football club, they quote the rulebook. they're changing the rules again!!!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ogilvie, the SFA and all of SEVCO isn't fit and proper.
When HMRC ultimately win the EBT case, EBTs will be illegal.
Ogilvie will have been the beneficiary of an illegal tax scam. At the moment he's the beneficiary of a dubious tax avoidance scam that's repugnant.
How he is acceptable to UEFA is beyond belief.

Agree0 Disagree0

Because ufea is corrupt to the core too, history shoes that.

i still think we missed the boat not bringing richard dunne in. the guy is rock solid, wins everything in the air, would have strolled the spl and defo gave us that bit of experience that we lack in europe. we are a young side but wudnt hurt to sign one or 2 over 30's for when the going gets tough. we need that kind of player who can still cut it and also played at that higher level and high profile games that could bring the younger guys on

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Richard Dunne is done. He would only consider Celtic now because no one else would touch him.

anyone think we might be waiting till we qualify for cl before we spend money on finnboggason? I personally feel we should splash the cash now in order to achieve this? hh ryanlarsson {Ed007's Note - It might not be that Ryan, it could be that the player that is waiting to see if we qualify for the CL, that happens.}

ED if Vienna get eliminated in the PO round and go into the EL, will he not still be cup-tied as the Celtic and Vienna can meet in the EL knockout rounds? Sure this was the case when oldco signed Jelavic.

Ed do you think we are going to get any good business done before the next cl qualifier? Not really wanted to complain because of the promising start to signings but we've just lost the spine of our team with Wilson leaving! 3 of the first names on the teem sheet gone starting to get a bit nervy especially after that performance. {Ed007's Note - I'm hoping that there will be new faces brought in before the next CL match, last night was far from a convincing performance.}

Hi there, just wondering if Ed had any concrete rumours about players coming in a Celtic park. Players like Kevin Doyle are surely not coming to Celtic park to be our top striker? Feel like Finnbogason would be a great signing from what I have seen of him, also heard a rumour about Tom Huddlestone, I think if we managed to pull off these two signings it would improve the team dramatically, anyone agree?

Hi Ed

It seems to have gone a bit quiet on the transfer front! I personally feel we are crying out for two strikers and that has been evident in the last two games! Against Ross Count we had almost 30 efforts in goal and only two goals to show for it and last night I feel we lacked a goal threat! Is there genuine interest in Finnboggason as I feel he could well be the answer and are we likely to add before the CL play off or wait to see if we qualify! What's your thoughts ed

Can I just say good luck to my daughter Katy tonight. She spoke with me 3and a half weeks ago and said we are wanting to move back to scotland as soon as possible. moved back last week. put cv on jobsite got 2 interviews next day flew up and starts next monday. Said last week life would be perfect if I could get a place playing for Celtic Ladies. I emailed last week with her details as she had played at a decent level down south but hasn't kicked a ball for 4 years. Cue phone call this morning from Paul Brownlee the ladies manager and as we speak she is at barrowfield training with the team and it should be for a while as he said they would make sure they got her fitness levels up to a good level to give her every chance of making it. Happy days {Ed007's Note - Well done to Katy!}

Having had a closer look at the potential opponents we could be drawn with tomorrow I think Maribor are the team we want to draw! Their squad is almost entirely made up of slovenian players. Warsaw wouldn't be a bad option either although playing in front of 30,000 hostile Pole's may not be the easiest task! Vienna have the best team that's for sure (Hosiner!) although they will have a good playing surface and travel isn't too bad. Worst case is Kargandy or Razgrad. Kargandy would be a nightmare away day although I would imagine we would slaughter them at home. Razgrad play in front of only 6,000 fans and they have a squad that is littered with South American's, Spaniard's and Portugeezers! So 11am tomorrow, MARIBOR PLEASE!

With our luck in draws we will get highest rated non seeded team.
In last round Elfsburg were the highest, I believe Legia Warsaw are this time. They are a big team in Poland with a ground that holds 31,000 and are SPL top half standard, all the other teams hold under 15,000.
Going to Kazakstan will be tough physically, half way round the world, but then they have to travel also to Scotland probably not in the comfort Celtic would fly out there.
It will be a difficult tie no matter who we get, but we should be able to overcome any of these teams over 2 legs.
My preference is Maribor and Lennon can ask Ally on advice how to beat them, with his famed tactics handed down by cardigan (in a brown paper bag) 451 or was it 550 lol Timalloy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Tim come on now carridigans tatics were 9-0-1 or 10-0-0 home or away here or abroad and well you know it stop bumming them up

Agree0 Disagree0

Tim, I'm trying not to over analyse last night's ahem 'performance'. Its done, dusted, in the past and hopefully never to happen again!

Worst case scenario we go into the next qualifier game with the same squad and no additions (I'm assuming nobody else leaves).

Just looking back at the 1st leg away Helsingborg game we started with Forster, Matthews, Rogne, Mulgrew, Izzaguire, Commons, Brown, Kayal, Ledley, Samaras and Hooper and played a 4-3-3/4-4-2 formation. Forrest came on for Kayal at the beginning of the 2nd half. We won this match 2-0 with Commons scoring in the 2nd min!

Rogne would be replaced with Ambrose but Kayal is a worry as I don't think he has been looking like the player he was at all.

Samaras as a lone striker is not working, he drifts back to his preferred left wing. Boerrigter has to start if he does not hurt himself again but I don't think we should play Balde just for the sake of it particularly as Neil Lennon has described him as 'raw'.

Lustig had a good game last night and he scored a good goal against Cliftonville but I still prefer a fully fit Matthews hmmm.

The problem is without a doubt who will get us goals?

I think a few teams we could meet are tougher than Helsingborg.

We need to keep possession, tight at the back and no nerves. ~ Mrs E

Mrs E, you should be on the television or radio with your expert football knowledge, you put all those clowns like Young, Keevins etc to shame.
We have this Liverpool friendly coming up I hope players like Van Dijk and Boerigter (if both fit) Balde and Myoukoko get game time.
If we do not sign anyone before next qualifier then play Mulgrew and Lustig at CB, Mathews on right, Ledley on left in place of Izzy. Put Brown and Ambrose in holding midfield roles. Sammy is better on left and put Boerigter down right and play Stokes as main striker. Timalloy

Ha Tim I have a job dealing with some nice folk and some complete eejits, I think I better stick with that :-)

I was trying to be positive about the next round in that we had no Wanyama or Wilson last season at this stage.

I keep forgetting about Myoukoko, I've still to cast my eye over him.

Whilst celtic are years ahead of rangers I always see posts that ask if we need to build on a position of strength to prevent Sevco coming back at us. I'm happy about how shore footedly the board are running the club. And would hate to go back to the dark days before Fergus McCann and the celts for change saved the club. So today I had a look round the Internet for information on how it was achieved. It's very interesting and would urge people who don't know about that period to research it as its interesting reading. But what it does show us the possibility that if Sevco ever find a like minded Fergus McCann and a group with common purpose it is possible for them to get back on a shore footing again. But it will take years due to their banishing from Europe and premier league in order for then to be in a tenable position. So my point is we must be wary. I'm sure one eye will be on what they are doing but we need sensible investment in the team. I think anyone at Sevco are always going to be fuelled by greed. What are people's thoughts

Believable0 Unbelievable0

My thoughts are as to why you are going on about a club that died and can't come back . If you're talking about The Rangers well they can't come back because they've never been in the top league before as they are a new club . I've also never seen many posts claiming we should build on a position of strength to prevent as you say " Sevco coming back " . If there is any they are usually from no name zombie fishermen claiming to be Celtic supporters . The only thing Celtic Fans are really concerned about right now is who will be our next opponents in the CL and who the next new signings will be . DH

Agree0 Disagree0

DH, ignorance is bliss.
if you think we won't see a challenge from the other side of Glasgow in a few yrs then you are sorely misguided or more likely just bravado.
we should be a miles in front but I have a fear complacency will allow the margin to be far closer than it should be.
Before you start I'm at most games!
Stevo Dundee

Agree0 Disagree0

@Stevo . I would never question how many games you attend as I know you're a genuine supporter . The point I was trying to make is that Rangers are no more . They weren't banished from the SPL as they were defunct . If their new tribute act lasts long enough to start a new beginning in the SPFL I think by the time they get there we should be miles ahead of them in every sense . I hope . LOL . DH

Does anyone else think it is strange that the amount of money raised by Sevco through the AIM exchange is roughly the same amount CW owed Ticketus when he bought the Deady Bears from SDM? Is it just a coincidence or are the dark forces at it again?

Did anyone else see the STV interview with EBT Ogilvie with regards license and fit and proper person regulations regarding Paul Murray. The guy is a complete and utter snake and can wriggle the Deady Bears out of any difficult situation.

This guy should be removed from his role as he was involved with EBT's while at Mordor and then introduced them at Farts.

He is compromised in his position at the SFA. Does anyone know how to start a motion to get him removed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It has been that way for a long time and I am disgusted and puzzled why no other member club has raised this.

Hi everyone, first time poster here. I am flying out to Kuala Lumpur on the 16th. Does anyone know of any Celtic supporters clubs or pubs to watch live Celtic games?

On another subject with regards Zombie FC. Most people are assuming that the deads to Mordor and MP that have not been seen belong to Craig Whyte. Everybody seems to forget about the ringmaster at the head of this circus SDM. It could be that he still holds the deads and that is why many of the old order including the cardigan, Sally and Alky Broon are staying silent. Any thoughts? {Ed007's Note - Welcome to the site Kendo.}

Alastair Johnston provided a dossier to the police claiming some form of illegality in SDMs sale of the club to Craig Whyte for £1. However Whyte had to pay off the lloydsBoS £18m debt.
We are told he did this with s £20m Ticketus contract for future season ticket money.
Whyte had never previously done business with ticketus. Lloyd's SDM and his board had several years of selling future ST to ticketus for immediate funding.

QUESTION: HOW COULD WHYTE COME UP WITH THE IDEA OF USING TICKETUS FUNDING TO BUY RANGERS ON HIS OWN?

WHYTE MUST HAVE HAD A CONVERSATION WITH LLOYD'S, SDM OR A RANGERS DIRECTOR SUGGESTING HE USE TICKETUS. THEREAFTER, HE ONLY HAD THE WHEREWITHALL TO GO PUBLIC ON BUYING THE CLUB.

Lloyd's and SDM claiming no knowledge Whyte was using ticketus and he came up with the idea himself before making contact with them is difficult to believe? Would a judge believe that?

The issue of using a companys assets to buy that company is another legal issue.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lloyd's got their £18m and walked and were not left as a major creditor getting a penny in the pound CVA offering.

Lloyd's also got Murray group disintangled from Ibrox, as they were/ are still running that due to massive indebtedness. David Murray and Lloyd's won out of it.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think, if I recall correctly, Alastair J said in the press, SDM told him we've found a guy to buy the club.
Surely he should have said, a buyer has come forward to buy the club?

The former suggests SDM was hunting for a buyer and found whyte rather than Whyte approaching the club of his own accord.

Hi Ed,

Do all our board members/shareholders sing off the same hymn sheet in relation to fiscal prudence. Any dissenting voices looking to splash some cash for a player who'll entertain. Any idea what Lennon's stance is, is he just accepting his transfer budget or is he trying to push the boat out a bit.

Thanks,

BadBhoy.

ps possible poll, would people stomach a ticket price/season book increase if it meant a better calibre of player at CP {Ed007's Note - NL won't be aware of any set transfer budget, it doesn't work like that. The scouting system identifies players, NL watches them as well and then gives the board a list of possible targets. It's then upto the the board and PL to try and come up with the financial package to sign the player, sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. There is a lot more finance involved in transfers than just the fee the selling club receives.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think I would prefer if the manager had players in mind rather than having to choose from a 'scouts catalogue' as for every Hooper, wanyama, Izzy and Ledley there is a Murphy, Bangura, Juarez and Lassad.
I feel sometimes, the right hand doesn't seem to know what the left is doing, when it comes to transfers?
We sell Wanyama, Hooper and now Wilson - before and during CL quals and the quality replacements are not in place to improve the team and help us through a tricky transition.
We have the cash and surely when the manager was told they were leaving he should have told them the list of ideal replacements?
I know we have time left in the window, but everyone knows we have cash and the prices will inflate.
I feel sorry for NL as he is doing the job with a hand tied behind his back and we have also had many injury problems for so early in a season.

Ed I see man united are willing to let buttner go what do you think they would be asking for and is he worth a punt to replace izzy or play back up

Hoopybhoy {Ed007's Note - I think he is too similar to Izaguirre if I am honest, he is better at going forward than defending. I'm sure Utd would be at least looking to recoup the £4m they spent on him.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Izaguere did very well last night as a traditional left back with the team sitting back on their 1-0 lead.
He defends very well. His problems arise when Lenny tells him to make blistering left wing runs up the park. He cannot get back in time to defend.
But as a traditional defender he's very good.

Agree0 Disagree0

I really like Izzy, but I feel his strength is going forward and he puts in great crosses unlike Forrest and Lustig and has set lots of chances.
I think he is caught out in defence either by not being goal-side, weak at back post for corners and not strong enough in the tackle.
He should always be further forward than Mulgrew when they both play IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

As someone said on another post how can you have a final ball when there is no one in the middle too deliver too

Hoopybhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Forrest has a lot if pros and cons and is a player who divides opinion. He has a lot of professional admirers not just Lennon. Gordon Strachan Mark McGhee Neil McCann. A lot of celtics problem is when he is on a game the players don't seem to give him the ball. He has pace to burn and can go past players but often passing is an issue and his crossing can be poor. For a winger crossing is bread and butter. Though we don't have height for crossing to a lot of the time. But there are a lot of positives in terms of balance with him on right and Bo'derick on the left. I think he will improve Forrest. A lot is made of forests age at 21 recon he should be finished article. Give him another couple of seasons and I think he will get back to the player Rednapp wanted. There is also a comparison to mcgready. though PL wore a Dick Turpin mask when he sold him. One of his best games in hoops was benefica when GS clearly said you have pace pick up the ball knock it into the space get there with plenty of time as you are quicker and pick out your cross. Play with your head up. I think NL needs to say that to Forrest as the crossing is his major flaw as a winger. Dribbling past people can sometimes fail. I like the guy and he will do well this season font judge anyone by last night or the whole team other than lustig wouldn't pass muster.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Although a fantastic player, a 35 year old 5'11'' Centre Back is a luxury that we can't financially afford. He would be a squad player, on big big wages, and that doesn't work for celtic unfortunately. we need pace at the back (to compete in Europe) and height and physicality to avoid being rag-dolled in the SPL by teams lumping high balls into our box. Successive managers (Gordon, Mowbray) have failed to realise this, but Neil knows it, and so his signings will have those attributes. Gallas was a world class defender, but will go to some cash-rich (epl? PSG?) club who can afford to pay a squad man 40k+ per week. Jean-Pierre Laguerre

If you watch a lot basketball you'll be familiar with the term 'transition': celtic just lost their 2 players most capable of turning defense into attack, of linking up front, middle and back. I thought last week that Bangura could add something to the team in that respect, although obviously he's not the rounded CF we so badly need. Without the outlet that Wanyama and Hooper offered in spades gone, we're going to look deucedly out of place in the CL proper, as we did much of last night: competent and unimaginative and slow. There's no focus to our attack - especially when Emilio stays out of forward positions (w/ Mulgrew in Mid).

I'd say have another look at Bangura, unpopular as that may be at the moment in a year things will be very different. He earned that much for me over the two legs.

More important, a genuine Midfield General and a middling-good centre forward in the mould of Sutton or Hartson are the absolute minimum Celtic require to avoid embarrassment this year. 8-10 Millions of pounds or euros at least - which isn't a lot on two players for a CL caliber team that just lost their two finest assets, at the end of the day.

Yesterday was ugly.

I see people wanting another centre half, I think Lennon will give Van Dijk and Myokoko(spelling) a chance first. We also have Mulgrew and Lustig to play there.
We need another striker. If we only bought Finbogason for £5m I would be happy as our midfield of Brown, Ledley, Commons and Kayal are strong enough. Add Ambrose as a defensive midfielder also.
I think Neil may also try and bring in a left sided defender as we all know Izzy is poor at defending.
We all know board will not spend massively, if they give Lennon £8m we will be doing well.
But we now know we are guaranteed group stages of Europa League at minimum with £5m plus gates and sponsorship added.
We made £20m last year, we sold Wanyama £12.5m, Hooper £5m and now Wilson £2.5m
totalling another £20m.
Even banking those 2 twenty millions leave us with Europa monies to fund our transfers. Timalloy

Ideal draw in the next round of the Champions League is probably Maribor. Shakhter Karagandy and Ludogorets Razgrad are too far east. Austria Wien and Legia Warsaw are closer to home but they will be tough teams to break down. Maribor are a litter further afield but I reckon we could take them over two legs.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Austria maybe, because we don't know much about them, but legia are spl team standard if not worse we've more talent in the development squad than their first team we should be anyone I personally think legia is one of the easiest teams, they only beat a welsh team by a few goals in the previous round and conceded, champion league here we come. Shaktar have spent a fortune on players and are backed by a Russian with money and by all accounts are a tall strong fit team who tend to score from set plays I think a trip to Bulgaria would be fine as Maribor are a stuffy difficult team that do not lose many goals albeit do not score many but showed against oldco that they could be difficult the Austrians would be tricky as they are known as cheats with diving and playacting along with constantly fouling and the poles could be 50/50 as well

Whoever we draw I am not full of confidence at present. We are missing Hooper and Wanyama big-time and Wilson leaving will add even more confusion to a shaky defence.
The clean sheets in the past 2 qualifiers were purely down to the calibre of our opponents lack of composed finishing.
Our crosses into the box need a sharp, quality predator or two.

I think some people are confusing Shakhter Karagandy with Shaktar Donetsk.

Donetsk play in Ukraine, are backed by a billionare and are full of very talented Brazilians.

Karagandy play in Kazakhstan (where Borat comes from) and are full of Kazakhstanian players (plus 1 or 2 other Eastern Europeans). If we can beat a team full of guys with handlebar moustaches with an unhealthy obsession towards Pamela Anderson, we don't deserve to be in the Champions League.

(Note : I may be stereotyping)

@6 People are definetely getting confused.

According to Transfer Markt they have 25 playersm 10 of which are foreign (all Eastern Europe excluding one Colombian) and their total squad value is £4.4m (€4.95m) with an average age of 26.

Their Exec Director and Chairman is Yerden Khalilin who is a Kazhakstani politician as far as I'm aware and their manager hasn't held any big profile jobs, mostly Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

@6 - your tag has to be in the top 5 on this site. Furious D was a champ!

I fancy jumping in on the Mo (Johnston) Bangura banter. The guy IMO will never be coming back to Celtic, He ain't good enough. The loan deal should always have a clause to never play against your home team - fate made that happen. Over and above that the guy is pi*h, he could not hit a barn door with a shovel never mind score against us. The guy is a laughing stock, I seen people saying 'oh he was a threat' and 'oh he is showing glimpses of talent' at the end of the day he is not Celtic calibre so feck him and move on cancel his loan deal and give him to elfsborg on a free. #goodriddence HH ShottsBhoy

ed, I know we have been linked with Finbogasson now for quite a while. In your opinion how likely is this deal and when? Is the player himself open to the move? {Ed007's Note - CFC know what is required if they want the player. It is as much likely to happen as it is not to happen.}

Are we allowed to discuss the James Forrest performance or are we to gloss over ONCE again?
I'm focussing on the, not so young, James now as have been underwhelmed by his displays for about 2 yrs and don't see what NL does.
Last wk, played the game of pretending to look for ball. Tonite, no end product YET again, poor positional options, what is he contributing to this side?
Before anyone starts, I watched the game and have the same opinion of many others on here about the game in general, the pitch, poor play by others etc etc.
This post is specifically examining JF and what he brings to the team.
If not home grown, would we put up with? Guess we all know the answer to that

How is James Forrest to have a final delivery when there is nobody in the box attacking the ball?

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate, i'm not actually a huge Forrest fan but to be fair to him he was the only out ball in that game, his end product was rubbish because Sammy and Commons were always away behind him. He was the only one who gave us a bit of a break when he went on a run, the whole team were rubbish in that game and he was arguably our best player so I have no idea why you have singled him out

He can destroy players with his pace, but his final ball is terrible, it's a waste of energy without an end product

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it would be unfair to pick out anybody after lasts night performance. Or lack of as it should be.

On a whole, Forrest needs to improve his end game.

I read a couple of comments saying Izzy was immense, but I felt he was pretty woeful.

It's all opinions, but ultimately nobody played well.

I'd 2nd that, doesn't create enough & mulgrew scores more, it seems he is lennons blind spot. L1888

Last night there were too many really off form; Big CL players like Samaras, Commons and Brown included
Back to Forrest - The manager has a real soft spot for him and when games pass him by, like last night he refuses to replace him as he does not want to destroy what confidence he has left and that's a vicious circle.
This blind faith has to be rewarded with much better and consistent performances and that's what the management team/coaching staff should be working on, or it won't be just here where he is criticised.

Ed any idea of the fee we are getting for Wilson and also am I right in saying we got him for free? {Ed007's Note - It is round the £2.5m mark according to everyone and yes we brought him in as a Bosman signing. We tried to buy him in the January but Notts Forest refused and froze him out for the second half of the season because he had signed a pre-contract with us.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That means we made more on him than we did on hooper after we pay Scunthorpe sell on percentage another good bit of buisness from us not that I'm happy to see the big man go, all the best kelvin, family comes b4 work or money

Scrapped through - time for PL to splash some money. Can understand his reluctance to spend big amounts prior to first 2 rounds - but now we have to bring in quality. The wheels could have come off tonight as a result of no out and out goal scorer. With big Kelvin going, the spine of last years team is gone - we have to spend monies now (I am not expecting us to spend £15m) but we need some quality in to give us a chance of making the CL. PL gambled and we got through this time - but no guarantees next time. Ed you know more than you let on at times - who do you think we will get in!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The Celtic team that was out last night was a lot weaker than last season so regardless if we make the group stages we need to replace 2/3 (if Wilson goes) players. On top of that we need a out and out striker like you said. I can understand Celtic not wanting to spend daft amount of money but who we have sold so far (on paper is pushing 20m on transfers) now if we reach the group stages then surely that brings in around 10-15m? The next 180 min IMO will decide how much Celtic give Lennon to spend. Ed I'm I right in saying Lennon is still on a 1 year rolling contract?
