Mulgrew made the first goal, bombing forward and putting a great ball in. Just goes to show how important it is to have ball playing center halfs, and just goes to show how lucky we are to have charlie!

two questions ed - when is the draw for the next round and because we are seeded does that mean we play at home in the second leg

thats us out then , must be true pob said last week he was going to lhfao when we get puped out. nae luck eejit . guaranteed another 8 euro ties this year. well done bhoys . if we had gone out this would have been sour grapes , but i can say it now. the pitch should not be allowed. and the ref was a joke, he gave them every 50/50 . before i go . come on pob . give us some respect , that team have not lost at home for 2 years and that includes schalka 04 last year . shamrock

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Disagree the ref was a joke. Actually I thought he was alright tonight - I've seen worse in Europe and it was far from a scrappy game.

I just think it was a difference in playing climate if you know what I mean. I reckon the majority of decisions that went against us would've been ok in Scotland, and Wanyama's red may have just been a final warning as well over here.

Wanyama's 2nd yellow was a yellow whichever way it's looked at unfortunately. As for many of the others, especially involving Hooper, for me there was nothing in them but hey we won the match - onwards and upwards.

Agree1 Disagree4

Shamrock before you go spouting about 8 more ties have you forgot about another qualifying round? {Ed007's Note - Even if CFC lose in the CL play-off round we go straight into the EL group stages. 8 more European ties, exactly as Shamrock said.}

Agree1 Disagree5

The football pitch works both ways they wont have been used to playing on grass and as a proffesional you adapt or should adapt

Agree1 Disagree1

What ?
You are an idiot. Read your post and think about it now.

Just read the RTC blog regarding minty moonbeams latest press release(no press conference dave?)on the EBT subjuct.I think the phrase"handed his ass on a plate" sums it up rather well. ED,would love your thoughts on this............green jhedi {Ed007's Note - I read it earlier today GJ. To issue a press release where there is no chance of awkward questions being asked just set the tone for the full thing. He didn't say anything that the 'meedja' haven't been bleating about for months. What he is saying is 99% crap ;-)

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Green Jhedi, you must have read my mind, I was going to mention RTc's latest post. Yes ED007 there was no chance of anyone from the press asking Minty, McLeish etc about side letters/contracts. But good on RTC he has told them exactly where to look and what to look for.
Is it just arrogance that they come out with all this rubbish, in the knowledge none of their tame poodles will question it.
Never mind while we are back in Seville
they will be in Methil.....
hee hee hee Timalloy

Agree1 Disagree1

Minty's facts are all wrong.
Tokenism.
So no one can say he did nothing. But this one pager really is nothing.
He doesn't go live these days because he apparently looks like sh"t.
He also drops himself in it when live. Remember the comment on Whyte and going into admin "what surprised me was how quickly he did it..." if that's not admission of knowing Whyte was going into admin nothing is.

We were worthy winners in the end, very shaky start to the second half which seems to be a problem, Wanyama should be fined for his stupid 2nd yellow, no need to foul on the half way line, hopefully a centre half will be signed now that we european football until xmas at least. johnbhoy79

Radio Scotland also commented on the inclusion of McGeogh instead of Forrest. Murdo MacLeod also confirmed that the confusion seems to have emanated from McGeoch's inclusion on the teamsheet handed over before the game. Surely to goodness HJK or anyone else wont try to make anything out it!

SSN are about to go live to Ibrox where they are saying Mike Ashley is preparing a bid for Gers.If true, does he not need to get rid off Newcastle first under UEFA rules regarding ownership of 2 clubs?

Jungle Bhoy.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Too quick off the mark,he is planning to invest.Ed,does the same rules apply regarding involvement with 2 clubs.

Jungle Bhoy. {Ed007's Note - The only time their will be a problem is if the clubs ever meet in competition.}

Agree0 Disagree0

No idea but there's no denying - and let's be honest - that The Rangers F.C. are the bigger club. As for who he'd make more money from, well that's up for debate but I'd sway away from Scottish side. It's only a 10% share anyway so it's pretty much irrelevent. I predict The Rangers F.C. will be in administration this time next year, just like their predecessors. I just wish to Christ there were bookies taking bets on it.

Planet fitba has entered a new space time continuum.

Later today Celtic will attempt to edge past their Finnish opponents in the Champion’s League.

I won’t get to see the game as I’ll be over the Atlantic on my way to Philadelphia.

On Saturday Celtic will play Real Madrid there.

The term “glamour friendly” is routinely misapplied by sports hacks.

However, this is a genuinely glamorous event.

In Scotland now only Celtic inhabits this footie firmament.

The landscape has changed and we are now in an age of unipolarity.

Despite the  best efforts of the establishment Rangers are in liquidation row with no chance of reprieve.

Only the final paperwork remains to be processed.

I am amused, but not surprised, that the SFA’s “fit and proper person test” has been passed.

Moreover the “future financial information” forms completed by Sevco would, no doubt, make for interesting reading.

Once Rangers finally flat line the Post Mortem, which will be carried out by the BDO boys, is likely to be rather grisly.

Sevco has purchased the belongings of the condemned club and they seem to have convinced the Ibrox klan that nothing has changed.

That is not how FIFA and UEFA view things.

On planet Fitba, all IS changed, changed utterly and in Philly this week end and wherever green is worn we will know and the world will know that the good guys won.

Our day has come.

Just seen that Arsenal are lining up a bid for Ki after paying 16.5 mill for Carzola . I just hope Celtic dig in their heels and don't deal for any less than 10 mill for him or any of our first team players .Laudrup is looking for 15 to 20 mill for a player who has 6 caps and one years experience in the EPL compare that to Ki who's played in World cup ,under 20 world cup and European cups and has nearly 50 caps and is still only 23 . We must not sell our players or the club short..".."..DH

Good morning ED007, see ex club are pushing the boat out (quite appropriate for a rowing club) on new signings. 4 year contracts to SPL standard players to win 3rd division? Looks like no lessons learned, they tried to buy success previously (and got caught) now they are adopting same policy of overspending desperate tactics by a desperate club.
At least wee Chick is happy, did you hear him last night? His tongue must
be very sore today....
I had a wee wry smile when commentators said crowd was 50,000 they all gushed then when official 38,000 came up they were all "astonished" surely Mr Green is not trying the old "play theattendance down routine for tax purposes?" Nah! I hope East Fife got their cheque to take away last night, or else it may "get lost in the post" Timalloy
PS message for POB... I will show you MINE, if you will show me YOURS..( Season ticket...)

Just wanted to say big ff might be the best golie to throw the ball out of the box to start play, he can throw it far and on target. We should look/use that to do an attacking planed plays, with the type of pitch that they will play on this could be a good way of utilizing his throws.
Let's go bhoys! CL bound!

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Noticed that myself,as soon as it's in his hands we should be flying at teams for a quick throw............green jhedi

Agree2 Disagree1

Our team just don't do that and I don't know if it's down to NLs tactics. When opposing teams have a corner we don't even leave a man up and when FF gets the ball we stroll up the park with no urgency whatsoever . I'm also still worried about the zonal marking especially in European games

Agree0 Disagree1

Wish they would use it more as I hate the amount of punts up the park that give away possession. The support can all see it so why not the coaching staff?

They are getting players they cannot afford and can't sell on for a fee CB...don't go down that road again. Leave them to it, we've all seen how that one ends. In the liquidiser. Mrs E

We cant afford Mrs E? The amount of wages we have freed up i.e. McGregor must have been on 25k at least same with Davis and Whittaker. Naisy and Laff were probably on about 15k and the rest.

BB1

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Depends on season tickets and pay as you go fans.Lost some big earners but revenue from access prices will be down by a third.Sponsorship, prize money(unless they win a cup) and advertising will shrink too.........green jhedi

Agree1 Disagree1

BB1...when was the last time Charles Green paid McGregor etc those wages ? It might be fine, you might get the investment needed but don't say the warning signs were not there & the average fan is the victim next time. Mrs E

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Aug 2012 08:20:10
Charles Green last night...Yes, playing in the 3rd & hopefully 2nd div warrants SPL wages, fans turning up and not paying a cheap entry price & I also heard he had yet again another go at Celtic. Dear oh dear some just NEVER learn.

'It seems to me like the old days where there were 40,000 but only 20,000 paid and the other went god knows where' admitted the chief executive.

Rangers are believed to be paying wages higher than most 'Scottish Premier League' clubs to bolster their squad, but Green defended their signing policy.

'We've got to get players to the club for the next two seasons before the transfer ban will come in at the end of August,' he explained.

Mrs E (Celtic are not in your league)

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Greens statement regarding Celtic(inaccurate by the way) was another desperate attempt to get on side with fans. The problem i can see is no fees will be gained when these players contracts are up............green jhedi
