Maradonna or Messi?

Miko {Ed007's Note - Maradonna for me Miko.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Messi defo

Agree4 Disagree2

Always difficult to compare era's Ed, however I'll plump for the wee fat one too! Still the best ever in my eyes!

Miko {Ed007's Note - Could Messi play for a team that doesn't play the way Barca do? I am bias but I still would take Ronaldo over him as well. Ronaldo could change/improve any team and fit any style of play, I'm not so sure Messi could.}

Agree3 Disagree4

Maradonna every time , don't think Messi does great for his country whereas Maradonna was immense........DH {Ed007's Note - Maradonna was immense at every level, single handedly won trophies for club and country. Messi needs Xavi, Iniesta etc around him to shine IMO.}

Agree2 Disagree4

Barca win 7-1 the week the big hoose could be shut for good.... you couldnt make it up as they say

Maradona for me all the way
never got any protection from refs like messi gets these day .both world class players but it Diego for me

Lubo25

Agree3 Disagree5

I'm just old enough to remember Johann Cruyff at the 1974 World Cup. He's my favourite player ever. Some of his goals on youtube are f'in unbelievable. Quicker and more athletic than the other two mentioned, and just as skilful.
The Real KB

Agree2 Disagree2

Aye Lubo, he was booted from the Nou Camp and landed in Napoli.......my home town, incidentally! A real sh*thole, but it's home! lol

Messi plays with Xavi and Iniesta (and other world class players that are the best in their respective positions), wee chubbs never had that luxury!

Messi is still only 24 though.........

Miko x

Agree3 Disagree3

Messi is a poor mans Samaras

samson

Agree3 Disagree2

Your right Johann Cruyff what a player. I remember he never went to the 78 world cup because the Argies told him he'd be shot if he did, he was that big a threat to them winning the tournament........ Stevie

Agree1 Disagree1

Interesting stuff guys, for me it's Messi, the wee guy is awesome, you don't hear any off the field antics with him, the fact that you's are comparing him to Maradona at the tender age of 24 speaks volumes, I watch a lot of spanish football and Messi has saved Barca on many occasions without Xavi or Iniesta, when Messi is 28 there won't be any questions on who is or was the best player ever, it will be more of a challenge find the 2nd best player ever because it will be Messi who will be crowned best player ever, he will have a world cup medal to satisfy comparisons made. Skill wise, players of old could possibly play in this era but fitness wise no chance, Messi could play in any era. Would love to see Messi at Celtic Park again, the 3-2 defeat was brilliant. Hail Hail....:)

Agree1 Disagree1

If he wins the world cup, I may agree. There's no doubt there's similarities between the two, we could be here all night arguing about this, lol

Miko

Agree1 Disagree0

Maradona all day he almost single handed won the world cup(no pun intended) and at demestic level aswell if messi could do it for argentina well that would be a hard one as messi`s got better head on his shoulders and alot more grounded. never forget maradona`s face when he ran straight up to the camera looked like a pure madman,LOL,kb-bhoy

On the conversation of away days in Europe, the Italian "Ultras" are nothing more than a bunch of cowards who attack ordinary fans with knives, funny how there is no trouble caused by them when they come to England unless they're behind a steward. They stabbed normal LFC fans from behind, who had done nothing wrong in Naples, have to admit though Inter's fans were great singing with them in the centre of Milan, clapped us at the end, people were even swapping shirts but that was all a bit weird IMO. Heard nothing but bad things about Turkey and would only go if it was a final. Have you ever been to Greece Ed mate? That's got a bit of a reputation aswell but I wouldn't mind going there.

Hi folks, just a wee serious note, its just appalling that tax is going to be lost because of greed, what that money could pay for is just hard to take in, so whoever if some rich gers supporter steps in and buys them, make sure the club pays back what has been taken and restore some pride in youre club

so the knuckledraggers think there will be no scottish football if they go bust?
almost 50,000 go to every 1 of their home games (even though about 30,000 of them leave before the final whistle). im almost sure that those fans would eventually turn to another club. i.e motherwell, killie or hearts, thus improving their attendances and allowing them to buy better players and paytheir taxes and debts.
if sly cancel the tv deal, the gates will become bigger as there is no footie on the telly, so fans will flood back
no more gangs of thugs terrorising small towns so there wont be a need for a high police presence when rangers in administration come to town, therefor also reducing the number of alcohol related arrests and no more biased regarding the SFA or referees either.

so in short, do you REALLY think you'll be missed?
I THINK NOT

Real KB, If we are in the Europa you should be able to get a ticket relatively easy mate but I'm a season ticket holder and have been for 7 years now mate so don't hold me on that. I'm one for making my own way there too, to Napoli we got flights to Naples the day before and stayed the night, flew back the morning after the game.I'm not the one who buys our tickets mate my Dad sorts that out but its always through the club. Obviously as well mate if we get a big draw or a team in a nice place Spain, Portugal, etc they're more popular in the Europa than away in Turkey, so much harder to get a ticket to, you'd definatly get a ticket in Turkey away at Trabzonspor! I'm hoping myself to go next year as we are definatly in Europe and I will hopfully see you there to tell me Ed 007 's secrets!;-)

Rangers will not participate in European competition next season

Rangers' administrator has conceded that the club are unable to meet Uefa's 31 March accounts deadline and will not play in Europe next season.
Duff & Phelps said owner Craig Whyte's view that Rangers would exit administration on time was optimistic.

Paul Clark blamed the decision on being unable to sign off accounts under Uefa criteria, a failure to pay taxes and not agreeing a deal with creditors.
He remains confident that the club will continue to exist and play at Ibrox.

In a day of conflicting statements from the Ibrox club, past directors and the current owner, the club's administrator said the four main problems with meeting Uefa's deadline lay in the stewardship of the Rangers prior to going into administration.

The four reasons were broadly given by Duff & Phelps as:

The likelihood of being able to emerge successfully from administration before the deadline, as indicated by Whyte was, at best optimistic given the financial situation at the club.

The company accounts cannot be signed off by auditors in a manner that would meet the criteria required by the footballing authorities as the club would have to satisfy a going concern test confirming how it will continue to be funded until the end of next season. Given that the administrator does not know who will be the owner of the club by 31 March, this cannot be reasonably guaranteed.
Under Uefa regulations, Rangers must have paid or settled all tax debts outstanding at 31 December 2011, which are estimated to be at least £5m - another guarantee the administrator cannot fulfil.
The club must have paid or compromised all of its outstanding creditors prior to the deadline of 31 March, which is also unlikely.

The statement continues: "As administrators, we will make every effort to seek dispensation from the footballing authorities given the extraordinary circumstances in which the club has been placed.
"There has, perhaps inevitably, been speculation about Rangers facing liquidation. As we have stated previously, we remain very confident that Rangers will not cease to exist and the team will continue to play at Ibrox.

"If a Company Voluntary Arrangement is not possible for any particular reason, any buyer of the club and its assets would complete that purchase through a sale by the administrators, allowing the club to continue to operate with the old company then being placed into liquidation prior to dissolution.
"We are, however, doing our best to ensure the company trades viably during administration and this will require a rigorous cost-cutting programme. Our preferred option remains to reach a point where a Company Voluntary Arrangement is reached and the club can emerge from administration as a viable business within its existing corporate shell.
"As stated, there is a possibility that if a new buyer is identified a financial case may be made to sell the business and assets of the old company, but that is not our preferred approach at this time."
Earlier on Wednesday, Rangers non-executive director Dave King released a statement saying that liquidation was "inevitable" at the club - a view not shared by current owner Craig Whyte or former club director Paul Murray.

Murray said in a statement that he intends to make a conditional offer to the administrators to buy Rangers before the 16 March deadline .

The administrators have previously publicly stated that any formal bid for the club would have to be made to them by no later than 16 March.
King also said in his statement that former owner Sir David Murray had no knowledge that proof of funds supplied by Whyte to purchase the club in May 2011 was secured by season ticket sales via the company Ticketus.

"We are aware of the statement from Mr King," added Clark. "We note his comments regarding the Ticketus arrangements.

"But, as this issue is subject to ongoing discussion and examination, it would be inappropriate for us to comment further."

Rangers' last match in European competition was a 3-2 aggregate defeat against Maribor on 25 August in a Europa League qualifer at Ibrox.

I think the whole thing has been incredibly strange Ed. The administrators have done very little(or so it seemed) and everyday a new story came out about them not paying something. I seariously doubt they'll find a buyer and unless they release the whole team and play the kids I can't see how they will make it to the end of the season. Nice boost for you before tommorow Ed mate ;-) and what a birthday present for Stef!

JFT96
Smithy {Ed007's Note - I said a couple of weeks ago that liquidation had became a distinct possibility, the financial situation is far worse than anyone had thought it would be. I don't think it's a bluff, either Rangers are bought (I seriously doubt this will happen, could due diligence be done in time??????), there will be severe redundancies or it will be liquidation. The administrators have also said they will struggle to fulfil their remaining fixtures.}

Its definatly something you should do Real KB mate, nothing quite like it. I'm lucky only being a young man myself to have experienced some of the things I have and gone to some of the places I have following LFC, its all thanks to being born into a family of die hard reds who have gone everywhere. Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm not a season ticket holder Smithy, so getting to games is a bit of a duck and dive. Can be expensive too, if all else fails it's the internet.
What's the chance of a non-season ticket holder getting European tickets mate ?
I don't wanna go on one of them club all-in deals if possible. I'd much rather make my own way there and have some fun !
I reckon I could maybe get a ticket from an agency for a game abroad, then go Dover and train etc. Would love that, have a mooch around places.
How about you ed, did you travel with the club or what ?

Just wanted to add my thoughts on everything that is happening down G51 way, it heartens me that such a great club like Rangers Fc and all connected with them past and present are showing such Dignity, not for them airing their dirty linen in public, or blaming each other so Mr Adam, Mr whyte, Mr King, both Mr Murrays (paul and david) both Mr Smiths (Gordon and Walter) please all take a bow for the dignity you have all shown....

And may I just say a wee word about the players and their selfless acts,
not for them thinking only of themselves or asking their agents to negotiate get out clauses, no these gallant RFC players are only thinking about the other employees, the doorman, the cleaner, the tea lady, the groundsman etc.. they should all be applauded for their acts of human kindness.

Let us not forget our truly wonderful legislators, who will work scrupliously to ensure all the rules are followed diligently, and no loopholes allowed to let any cheating club off any punishment due, and of course the SFA would NEVER, NEVER, employ anyone from a club who may have a "tainted" reputation???

Cough Ogilvie cough Finally, I must congratulate our very own Scottish journalists, who tirelessy worked to uncover all the goings on at Rangers Fc and then at great personal
risk (to their appetities) reported it in their newspapers, radio shows etc
so Keevo, chicko, trayno, delahunto, leckieo, etc.. all take a bow.

Yeah Real KB mate Chelsea fans are completly different now, only a handful of them lot seem to be there these days and I haven't ran into them thankfully.I'm guessing they've gone to support Milwall. Lol. TBH when I saw a big group of LFC fans going into a Chelsea pub I was expecting trouble but the majority of CFC fans left straight away or after us singing. Police came saw there was no trouble and asked if we wanted escorting to the ground lol. In the Carling Cup it seemed on the streets we had more fans there than they did! Chelsea pubs with LFC fans in and no trouble, so I think Chelsea is cetainly not what it was. Worst away game for me in recent years was away at Napoli, was allowed time off and went with family and there fans were absoloutly mental. Good luck tommorow Ed mate, hope everything goes well. Ed007 can possibly give me the crack on places to go, people to see..he's ITK on these smaller competitions !
The Real KB {Ed007's Note - I doubt you could handle the places I have ended up in abroad RKB ;-)

Oh dearie me, more problems for the good ship RFC Dignity, when it was
announced that the Scottish Regulator of charities was looking into the
Rangers Charity Foundation, more specifically the upcoming "charity"
game between RFC and AC Milan. Looks like charity does not begin
at home ...... Timalloy

Smithy,
You've had a bit of a touch if you've taken over Chelsea's pubs these days. It brought a mildly amusing (I'll tell it anyway !) memory back for me, in about 1987 at Anfield when their away support was a bit more boisterous shall we say.
I was studying at the time and sharing a flat over near Lark Lane. Cos I was so skint, I used to meet me old fella on match days and I'd give him a bag of my dirty washing. Lol. He'd give me a bag of pressed and clean stuff, and a food parcel as well of tinned stuff. Beans, Pek (remember that ?), soup and that. Anyway after the match I made my way over to the Goodison end of Priory Road - it wasn't closed to traffic on match days then - to get a bus via Tuebrook and back to Wavertree way. It'd be about 5.30 / 6.00pm on a Winter's evening, so pitch black. I'm innocently standing at the bus stop, when who's prowling round Stanley Park but some of Chelsea's finest. They stopped and were giving me the eyes and a bit of abuse. I'm trying to look hard with my bags of pressed boxers and tins. Lol.
Well it wouldn't quite make a hoolie book but talk about a compromising position at an inappropriate time. Thankfully a bus came to the rescue. Me provisions came first anyway. I wouldn't spoil a good time of Pek on that shower. Lol.

Good Morning ED007, hope this brings a smile to your face, regarding your leg operation tomorrow.......

I think one of your first toys was LEGo at 16 it was alLEGed that you first got your LEG over?? when just 19 you bought your first car an alLEGro, round about that time you went to your first european tie in the away LEG,

On here you will always be a LEGend. When you get better go to pub and
get LEGless, (but PLEASE not literally)
LOL Timalloy {Ed007's Note - Cheers Tim :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable1

ED007, another topical leg pun....
The RFC adminstrators are trying their
best to "LEG-o" some players, and are trying
to see who is eLEGible... LOL timalloy

Surely that will be before whyte LEGs it with all their cash and the LEGal battles commence

Has anybody ever seen anything like this debacle at ibrokes? Now players are "raging" at the admin team's claim that some players are not agreeing to the wage cut.Just a suggestion to Duff & Phelps here; Why are you pandering to these prima donnas? sack them, thats your job! reduce the running costs and never mind what consortium tels you to keep the squad.I suspect these players might be afraid of the fans discovering who DOES walking away, free to negotiate a nice signing on fee for themselves

Believable2 Unbelievable0

The longer the admin team keep these talks going the more they get paid. if admin team comes knocking do they not make the decision who goes and who stays, whats sold and whats not like property and take charge of banking issues,kb-bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I bet the administrators wished that they (rankers) went into admin in january
instead of waitin till the summer to sell the players ohh wait a sec the SUMMER
they might not see it:-),stef1967

morning ed , i was reading last nights pages about how rangers are a cash cow that the spl would die without ,how hibs ,hearts, dun utd anddons would not be able to pay their wages without the rangers away support , i reckon they've around 3000 average away support twice a season to these grounds , so 6000 @ £20 = £120.000
now i know thats where it stops for rangers but the rest of us pay tax off that , so it's hardly a fortune , i think they would survive . i know celtic would be better off without the repair bills for seats and toilets twice a season . cash cow my ar5e , billybhoy
