Does anyone think paddy might be waiting to see if we get into champions league?

I'd say it's more Celtic waiting before being willing to pay the money, if the rumoured fees are true, especially after paying the fee for ntcham.

My view from May was that Paddy wanted to give himself as good an opportunity as possible of making man City match day squads and have us in C.L. as back up.

To all Celtic fans. PADDY IS NOT COMING BACK TO US. let's understand the journey. Most players want to play in EPL. You won't see many move from SPL to EPL no matter how good they look as SPL is seen as Division 1, which is below the Championship. But if they come to Celtic and show promise in CL then they may get a move to EPL? Now if Southampton or Bournemouth or Stoke are going to give Paddy game time in the EPL why would he come back to Celtic? Stop talking as if he is a fan. He enjoyed his time with us. Now because of how well he did with us in CL and SPL he is being asked to sign for EPL clubs. that's the journey. Why would he come back?

Perhaps another crack at champions league and a bigger move to a non stoke or Bournemouth of this world.

He's just been spotted running through Bridgeton at a hell of a pace.

Maybe he can see that the EPL is the most over-rated league in world football Johnny or maybe he isn't a money grabber, maybe he enjoys playing in front of 50-60,000 every 2nd week, maybe enjoys Champions league football. Just a few reasons why he might pick us over the inferior clubs you mentioned.

I think most of us are setting ourselves up for a major disappointment about wee paddy! I like every other fan would love the wee man back but I just can't see it happening to be honest! And I don't think the manager and his number 2 should be coming out and taking about it so openly, because like I said they'll be major disappointment if it doesn't happen! It's a bit like the Armstrong situation for me lads. if u don't want to sign a deal then get him moved on ASAP! And if paddy wants to come then come! Are we going to leave this til the last few days of the window and then hear the usual about we tried our hardest but blah blah blah! I said it on here the other week, If we get to end of the window and we've only signed Hayes benyu and ntcham I'll be majorly disappointed!

Johnnymac if Roberts is so dead against coming back then what could be giving the club the impression that it's worth keeping a serious eye on developments? Could it be that maybe, just maybe, the club are more informed than you on the situation?

Absolutely ludicrous comment Johnnymac.

According to reports today Roberts has said he wants a return to Celtic. Really hope this is the case, the boy just oozes class and if it is indeed the case get him in as a wild card signing for this upcoming Astana game. Come on paddy get back up the road to where u are loved and belong.

This may be a simplistic view but why don't Celtic make their best effort to sign Paddy Roberts. If it succeeds then get it done. If it doesn't then draw a line under it and move on. All this faffing around is a right pain in the arse. I know there are probably more strings to a deal than most of us know but for fekk sake, it can't be rocket science. It's either a yes or a no. HH.

they are too busy fannying about trying to sign him on a cheap loan at the last minute again instead of using some of that absolute fortune they are sitting on and showing a bit of ambition by signing the boy on a permanent deal with a decent top players wage.

Jamrsbhoy that is not the case. Man City want to sell him for £12 mill. No one wants to pay that. So Man City want him to go to a Prem leavue club do well and then they will get £12_£15 mill next season. He has 3 years left on his Man City contract. They can lend him out with all his wages paid. Its nothing to do with Celtic not paying the money. Is Paddy worth £12 mill to Celtic? The answer is we don't pay that for a player. Too much for us. Now if paddy goes on loan he has a say on whete he goes so it is up to him if he comes to us or not. My fedling is he will go to an EPL side.

Lads

Very similar situation to some of our own young players.

Henderson away to Hibs, loved it, struck up a great friendship with McGinn, won the cup with them and expected to push on with us last season.

Paddy clearly thinks he has what it takes to make it at City.

Maybe we've done all we can but the player wants to assess all his options before deciding where his future lies? People are always so quick to have a go at the club but CD said today we're in "constant contact" with City so maybe there's nothing more Celtic can do until squads have been finalised and qualifiers are finished etc.

When you look at the crazy money being paid for players with a lot less talent than Paddy has, I think you are deluding yourselves if you think City would let him go for 12 million or even 20 million, and Paddy might have had a good time in Glasgow, but he knows he can make (I am loathe to say earn) , mega bucks down south, and so it will be untill Jeremy ( blessed be his name) , gets elected and puts a 90% tax rate on anyone making more than £100,000, a year, so my maths are not very good, so if you make £10,000,a week, that's over half a million a year, so you get to keep the first 100,000,then you get taxed at 90% on the rest, so that leaves you with another £40,000,so hey ho, you get £140,000,a year, that should be enough to buy your milk and bread and other essentials, so every one is happy, because the tax money will be used to get rid of the food banks, pay for more nurses and teachers and police and dustbin men, and fishery protection vessels when Scotland gets its independence from England and Europe.

hes nowhere near worth 12m, city will be happy to get 6m for him, celtic are sitting on a fortune and afford the deal no problem, its amazing the amount of panty wetters on here the minute anyone criticises this penny pinching board who's lack of ambition has held us back for a number of years on the european stage.

all this talk that he signed for 12 mill is bollocks, that was what fulham would recieve via clauses etc, think city paid about 4 up front, his wage is 25 k, he loves celtic, and tierneys his best mate, every chance that he will come back, who stole the sugar from your doughnut jonny?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I actually think they paid about £13.5m in order to remove any potential sell on clauses.}

08 Aug 2017 10:29:08
theyve paid 13.5 up front Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - transfer fees are not paid up front, that is the fee that was lodged with UEFA's TMS, it may well end up more with add ons in the future, but that is the amount they will pay for him over the period the transfer fee was agreed to be paid. Usually a couple of years, though City have pushed some transfers through simply by paying up front the full amount in the past.

In simple terms, that is the amount he has cost the club.}

08 Aug 2017 10:58:02
Fair Enough Ed, tbh i've read about it numerous times that it was 4 up front but you seem to be in the know, Do you think we have a chance of getting him? . PS cheers for pissing on ma bonfire ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it was probably the initial payment, according to TMS it was about £13.5m though. Pep doesn't think he is good enough, so the lad is available. Obviously the price is an issue, but the lad himself had a lot of good things to say about Celtic, so I couldn't rule it out. However I really can't see Celtic stumping up the money to buy him, so maybe another loan could be an option?}

What is the best way to get on the away tickets.

Was going to try for Thistle away but went to fans with 5 or more away games.

Now Kilmarnock is 2 away games or more.

How do you build these games up if they never make it to season ticket holders to buy.

easy tip for you mate, a lot of the irish bhoys who are on the system won't be able to attend on friday night due to time constraints due to working so the bhoys who are coming over will bring their mates tickets to sell outside the ground so get yourself up there before kick off, failing that @ celtic spares always good for a ticket.
