On the theme of politics in football ed the Spanish ff has announced tonight that it is suspending all of its end of season games indefinitely in a dispute with the government over pools and tv revenue, the suspension will begin on the 16th of may .

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I read that earlier, Fab1. I'm not surprised that something was going to give in Spain, I don't know the ins and outs but the whole set up over there is wrong when it comes to distributing the cash. Real Madrid and Barcelona together take about half the annual La Liga TV money of 650 million euros (£482million).
The team that earns the least in the new EPL Sly deal will get £106million while in Spain they get £11 million and Real and Barça will collect around £110 million.}

That's shocking figures ed. I knew they didn't get much but expected it to be a lot more than it is and compared to the premiership the difference in quality is Amazing

I wouldn't like to think what money the bundesliga and that are getting either

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's why I tell people to try and not always compare us to the EPL, compare us to other team's who are around our level, we have income that Spanish clubs envy, was it 2012 (?) our matchday revenue was in the top ten in Europe, beating teams like Inter Milan and Spurs if memory serves me right.
In Germany last season Bayern Munich received 36.9 million Euros and relegated Eintracht Braunschweig received 18.2 million Euros, compare that with Liverpool who received the most TV money in England with £117 million and still missed facing FPP sanctions by the skin of Suarez's rodent teeth.}

Surely FIFA won't interpret this as Government interference and won't ban Spain from all international football like they would do if it a small in FIFA 's eyes inconsequential Country like The Sudan .

What brilliance from Lionel Messi tonight, it just goes to show, that you can have all the tactics and systems you want, but there is still no answer to sheer skill and ability.
I think he will go down as one of the greatest players ever, he is an absolute joy to watch.

He really lit up the game that had seemed to have eventually settled down to a nil all draw . He must be the best of his generation.
If he had been playing for B M it would probably have finished up 3- nil to them .

Remember they said politics had no place in football? Have a read at this from Hartlepool Utd.

ED007 so if an MP attends a game at your club then vote for them, I guess the vast Hartlepool fan base will guarantee we will not get a hung parliament lol

{Ed007's Note - It was Ed003 that sent me the link, he's our resident political boring (swear). I also found this on their site where they mention the SNP for some bizarre reason.}

May we live in interesting times .

For the first time in a LONG TIME it seems that CFC are generally settled and looking to advance their profile in planet football.

We have a motivated, young and hungry manager looking to develop every single player in to better players no matter their age, profile and status.

We are (at last) focusing on those things that money needn't necessarily influence; things like fitness and hunger.

We have a manager who is no longer at the mercy of the over-inflated English market given his/their awareness of other lower profile leagues jam packed with credible talent (like Norway)

We have a coach (and a no. 2) totally committed to youth development which NEEDS to be part of the CFC strategy moving forward.

All of a sudden we look like we have OPTIONS and there does not appear to be an exodus looming either.

We may lose VVD (I think that will come in January 2016) but we have a lot of young players with phenomenal experience. Look at Griffiths. He has been here, there and everywhere and we are getting him just at that point in his a career where he has committed to cutting all the nonsense out.

We have a settled captain and an emerging midfield talent with 2 years to develop even further before his agent starts nipping his ear! The player of the year wants to stay. A top rate GK is happy just to be playing and happy just to be wanted. A swan song at 31 years old.

We are probably 3 players short of a really decent team with pace and verve. Not too shabby given the financial climate.

What is interesting is that we have a lot of fairly good players with points to prove or who know they need to develop before their next move. This will provide us with a sense of stability which will allow RD to build a team with minimal disruption.

Imagine if Forest was to turn it around. Imagine JF and GMS on the same pitch with Johansen Biton and Brown pulling the strings in close proximity.

Imagine a fully fit Matthews and a careering Izzy linking up with JF and GMS. Too dynamic? Okay, let's draft in Armstrong! Too lightweight at the back, okay let's make room for Lustig.

Up top? We know that we will get someone in! Can we be that unlucky that many times? Griffiths knowing that he has to keep up the momentum and the hunger levels to have a sniff of a starting berth can only have a positive effect in the grand scheme of things.

I have never been happier as a CFC fan going in to the summer.

May RD's reign last!

And the new strips look great in to the bargain.

Good times ahead another cenre half & centre forward & we will be fine!!! HAIL HAIL

Paradise

Unfortunately we can only imagine a fully fit Matthews but we all know that isn't going to happen.

Also Forrest, what can he turn around? Never been good enough and never will be.

The rest of your post is excellent and it's true that is a great time to be a celtic fan. I just hope the feel good factor carries on into the summer and even if we do sell VVD that we have his replacement either lined up or in place ASAP.

Paradisewon I agree a great post , I too am very happy going into the summer break with the best and most suitable for Celtic management team that Celtic have had for decades . He really puts the players first and they seem to want to take on board his methods . I think we will see a good Forrest in the coming season , I have seen signs of improvement in the last couple of months .
I am worried about Matthews , I think he is still afraid of his shoulder as I haven't seen him bursting past players when in a tight spot . Young Fisher burst past players in the last 25 mins on Sunday and was very positive chasing in for ball which resulted in the penalty . I think and hope we can get the 3/4 players we need for a really exciting season next year . At the moment I have no worries about qualifying as it looks that we will have a settled team with the players and manager all singing from the one hymn sheet .

I too like Fisher Chris and have been suprised he has not had a couple more starts, especially with Matthews still seeming not 100% match fit as IMO he never really puts a foot wrong. Forest is coming on a wee bit and I'm still holding out, but will really need to step up in the first half of next season if he is to have any future at Celtic. I held out hope for Kayal for far too long and starting to think I'm clutching the same staws with Forest. I'll make my mind uo in January

Tompo88 I think and hope that we will find Forrest's form will step up continuously like many of his team mates . Deila's influence will mean we will see a different Forrest next season .

I am not going to presume to tell people on here which way to vote, all I am going to say is 1) PLEASE VOTE and 2) VOTE WITH YOUR CONSCIENCE, only by voting can we have a say on who runs our country, use your vote wisely.

06 May 2015 23:01:31
really? Tim I have said for aslong as I can remember they do nothing but lie to us. WHERE on the voting slip is the protest vote? I would rather vote for nobody until someone comes along and tells us the truth.

{Ed007's Note - I'm with you, Raymundo, every one of them is a self-serving parasite. Real men with principles like Keir Hardie, Larkin & Connolly and Jimmy Reid will be spinning in their graves. Until someone steps up and decides to sort the real problems, starting with a full public enquiry of the VIP/Royal paedophile cancer that is at the centre of the Great British society, we are never going to get anywhere, no matter who you vote for nothing's going to change for people like us.
We needed to stand up in September to stop being part of a island that is nothing but a lapdog for the USA and in turn it's Israeli Zionist puppet masters, that didn't happen and to me tomorrow's election is just a pointless piece of propaganda to make the little people feel that they have a choice - we don't.
The whole odious lot of them are just interchangeable puppets, if it's not Blair it's Cameron, if it's not traitorous vermin like Jim Murphy it's the SNP's OBAF Act, there isn't a politician in Britain that deserves to escape the gallows, I would hang every local MP in their respective constituency with a list of their expenses and crimes nailed through their heart.
If you want to do the best for your area, punch the UKIP candidate in the face... as hard as you can!}

07 May 2015 01:00:33
SNP are a joke. Personally I think the big referendum was an elaborate propaganda vote to rally up as much support as possible for the main agenda- win as many seats as possible in westminster to force a coalition with labour.

They are all crooks and we will always be f**ked either way. They don't do enough to help struggling families, homeless and vunerable people yet will help every other country to score points with other countries.

07 May 2015 07:55:57
Ed I could not agree with you more , I wish that was a party's manifesto. What do they know about the ordinary man in the street who is struggling to pay the bills despite working 50 or 60 hours a week and they are the lucky ones. What this country needs is a revolution. They are very clever and give the masses just enough to keep going , while they rake in millons upon millons. Unfortunately the majority and I include myself in that quietly play along sitting watching shite telly while eating our take aways, why? Because we have been brainwashed into thinking this is as good as it gets for us and if you stand up to the machine it will crush you 😩

This rotten gravy train institution is an embarrasment to so called democracy. Vote for x and he/she will guarantee to do sod all for the man in the street apart from tax them to the hilt. Did you know that this mob stripped the taxpayer for 184 million last year before a salary was even paid? How many of us mugs can claim back the cost of our commute and our weekday digs and food not to mention come in and leave whenever we want to work elsewhere? Read the register of members interests to give you an idea of the eyewatering sums of money these parasites make outside parliament.
You must vote though, it is your right even if you put an x next to the monster raving loonies or write F*** YOU ALL across the ballot paper. It's the only way to show them that the system is pants and doesn't work.

Every Government has to raise taxes , to pay for health and education and provide for those who cannot provide for themselves .
The problem with the UK Government is that they don't aim their taxes at the people who can best afford it , and also they waste the taxes they raise on fighting wars that should be of no concern of Britain .
A country like Sweden can use their taxes to better effect , better education , better health service and help pre- school children .

@Fab1 well done on your bet last night, I also had Tevez, Ronaldo and a penalty so am a happy chappie. Tonight doing my usual Barcelona bet, a penalty (either team) Suarez, Messi and Neymar to score (all 3 pays 16/1), BTTS, Fab isn't it great using bookies money to bet with lol (ps I am able to do multiple bets because of previous winnings, if not able to do all these bets choose one you like more than others)
