Can I give a real off the wall post for a goalkeeper. There is a 19 year old player with Man city Angus Gunn I assume his father is Bryan Gunn of Aderdeen and Norwich He is very tall 1.96m and his contract runs out this year could be the Forster

A bit off the wall but a great suggestion none the less. Can you see him being number one just now? Because i'm not so sure and he'd be best off staying at city for now. He needs to get first team footy no doubt and i'm not sure we're in the position to offer it (too much risk)

With Brown suspended for Wednesday night who should Deila play alongside Britton . Deila could well go for Johannson but many prefer him in a more attacking role .
Armstrong is another possibility but I wonder if Mulgrew is fit, maybe he could comeback .
Mulgrew didn't exactly cover himself with glory when he played up to Christmas .
However maybe now free of injury and maybe benefitting from Mc Guinness and Deila's advice maybe he could be the man .

Definately Armstrong and biton for me. I'd rest Johanson to, he must be knackered. Forrest, commons, GMS, with Gudetti up top.markie

Markie did Armstrong play a more defensive role at Dundee Utd than he currently does at Celtic . I didn't think on Saturday especially that he fitted in that well out on the left .

I think at Unt he was mainly a Cm Chris, he's got the all round game that he can be played most places in the middle, but I agree I don't think he's a natural wide player, and being left footed I think left of sitting 2 is his best position. Despite it being a more defensive position his driving runs from there were a feature when I would watch him at Unt. Markie

Something to consider here is that although Brown and Bitton both play CM for Celtic, their roles are very different from what they would be in a 442 or 352.

The 2 CM Celtic play is known as the double pivot. In the double pivot both players have an important defensive role to protect the back 4 (or in our case the back 2). You usually find that one of the players is specialised in tackling and breaking down play (Brown) and the other is the guy who links up defense and attack by his passing ability (Bitton). If either player neglects their defensive duties your defenders are left exposed (which we saw happen a lot at start of the season).

Anyway, the point I am making is that just because someone has played CM before does not mean they are suited to playing in the double pivot, Mulgrew and Johansen being prime examples of this.

Yes I know exactly what your saying rabmac my point was that in our 4231 system In my opinion Armstrong would be best suited to left of the 2. Next best would be middle of the 3 but we are well covered there. I agree with Chris that out wide is not where we will get the best of him. Markie

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Apr 2015 16:54:49
@Markie - by all means give Armstrong a try in the position and he is probably the obvious choice with Brown missing. Although I suspect we may see Johansen or Mulgrew in there. :(

07 Apr 2015 18:05:04
I would like to see Armstrong there and also like to see GMS on one side with Forrest on the other with Johansen and Commons in the middle what do you guys think?

"Mulgrew didn't exactly cover himself with glory when he played up to Christmas ."

Chris02 make your mind up, cause I'm puzzled at your thinking. Is it just certain players you like (suspect you have posters up on your bedroom wall of players in question) that are not allowed to be critisced, but the players you don't (mulgrew) are permitted?

Contradictions02 should be your call handle

DN30. Not surprising you are becoming very Messi. However keep it up there is only one is us who is letting himself down , and I don't think it is me .
Mulgrew isn't fit for tomorrow and that rules him out , so Deila and co can't work their on him just yet ( if ever ) . From the discussion above , it appears we don't have another midfielder to play in our midfield two. Many prefer Johannson further up field and as Markie and others say Armstrong is probably the best man for the job . If Armstrong doesn't convince Deila before the end of the season that he can do the job there , that is probably another position we have to look at for recruiting .

Agree0 Disagree2

07 Apr 2015 19:46:05
@Chris02 - You state that Mulgrew isn't fit but he looked fit in training today when I watched him. However, I hope he does not play as he has been rank in that position.

Regardless of how well Armstrong does in that position [assuming he plays there], we still need to strengthen our CM as we don't have much if any cover for when Brown or Bitton can't play.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mulgrew and Lustig are reported as still not fit . Derk played 68 mins yesterday I think and Rogic went off after about 30 mins ( presumably injured again )

Not been impressed with Armstrong's defensive work in CM tonight, although his range of passing has been impressive. Putting it down to him being new in the position and is not yet familiar with the role. Hopefully he can improve as game goes on.

AS promised with the first of my posts leading up to Grand National on Saturday but first the usual caution never bet with money needed for something else, only bet what you can afford, make sure all bills are paid, weekly food shopping done etc, Mrs T gives me my "pocket money" each week and that is what I use, so only I suffer and not the family if bet loses. (just now I am in lucky position of betting with winnings from previous bets so again not coming from family budget) This post if for the once a year punter and my advice is simple, bet each way, go to a bookmaker either online or on the high street who offers 5 or more places, if on the computer, open an online account with a big bookmaker they will match your first bet so if you bet £20 they give you a free £20 bet which you can use as you wish to do, say betting on a football match instead of the horse racing if you are more comfortable. Back to the National I would always take the price as the bookmakers nearly always cut the price of every horse. My final advice for now is for those who think AP McCoy will ride the winner on Saturday at present his horse Shutthefrontdoor is trading at 7/1 but come Saturday will fall to only about 3/1 so back him now at the bookmakers guarantee of "non runner" stake returned. Good luck everyone and I hope more people will post tips and advice.

Pick a horse, any horse, or number, or colours, best way to pick a winner. Never, ever listen to the "experts". I am going for Monbeg Dude (birthday number), Rebel Rebellion, nice ring to it, and Alvarado (backed last year), no logic, form guide or any other nonsense, best way to pick your nag! Anyone that says they have an insider tip is talking through a hole in their nether region. My niece picked the winner 2 years back, why, it was the name of a princess, and she was 6 at the time!

@Cmac I have never professed to be an expert, simply a canny punter who keeps his eyes and ears open and listens to others with more knowledge, what I hope I have done lately is given some on here a wee boost in their bank balance by me pointing them in the direction of good advice to make some money. But you are right with the national, any horse on the day can win and my girls in past years have had more success than me, also as a matter of interest I have backed both Alvarado and Rebel Rebellion anti post.

I see Haris Vučkić is out of contract at the end of the season and Stuart McCall has stated that he would try and sign him if he is still in charge next season.

Therefore, I think we should nip in and sign him just to piss them off. ;)

I had to google his name to see who he was Rab. I've not seen him play, would he improve our team?

We need a centre forward who is better than Griffiths & I don't mean any harm to Griffiths by saying that, it's just this 1 up front. We need someone that bit better if we're to qualify for CL.

Centre back will also be an issue come the summer I reckon.

He is an attacking midfielder registered with Newcastle and is currently on loan at Rangers.

He is actually a decent player and could provide good cover for Johansen in the event of an injury or the need to rotate.

While it is not an area that needs immediate attention, I just think it would be funny laughing at Rangers fans if we signed him from under their noses, as he is a player they would love to sign. Think of it as payback for Mo Jo.

Agree0 Disagree1

06 Apr 2015 16:38:43
How the hell will Sevco sign any player. They are losing money by the month , and one of their main income streams has been taken over by Sports Direct . We should be well and truly above playing little games with a Championship team or a club entering the SPL for the first time ever .
I would like to think Deila and Lawwell would have better things to do in the transfer market than buying a player who has never played at a reasonable level.

Agree3 Disagree2

06 Apr 2015 17:40:27
@Chris02 - He has played a few games in the premiership as well as making an appearance in the Europa League. On top of that he played 22 games for Rotherham in League one the year they got promotion to the championship. Granted he has not played much at the highest level but it is wrong to say that he has not played at a reasonable level.

Ignoring the fact that I would like to rub salt into the wounds of the Rangers fans, I do think he is a talented player and would be a decent addition to our squad. Saying that I do think he would need to improve to make our first team but I don't think it is beyond him.

I have watched Vuckic and he looks a decent player.
positional sense is good, a good left foot and can score.

I watched him on Sunday against Hearts he cam,e across a strong minded player who shows authority on the pitch. I think we could doi a lot worse.

just a thought

The Rangers will be signing nobody who costs hard cash, they may get a few freebies, or loan players, but that is all. They have very little money and are incurring huge losses still. They had to borrow money to pay wages etc, even though the Castlemilk crusader rode into town, with a nomad waiting in the wings, oh wait :-)

DN 30 , why all the anger , Rabmac made a good contribution and I gave my opinion on it , so what is wrong ( three people agreed and no one disagreed with my post )
It seems you have a problem .

Agree3 Disagree1

07 Apr 2015 11:23:45
What anger? I'm merely stating a point. I don't judge a post by number of agrees/disagrees cause judging by the amount of disagrees Timalloy gets, it's evident people are at the wind up. Your probably agreeing with your own posts.

As a note of interest, just because a player is playing in championship does not mean that they will not be a success in SPL. Daz mackinnon went from playing junior league to SPL with Hamilton and has done well.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Apr 2015 13:08:00
@DN30 - He does not seem to grasp that popularity is no judge on something's validity. For example most Rangers fans like to believe Rangers didn't die, does that make them right?

As I pointed out to him previously, this form of argument is fallacious (why not use a dictionary Chris02 if you are not familiar with the word).

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Apr 2015 23:15:40
Rabmac, my problem with your posts , is that sometimes you instead of adding to the thread , you just attack posters who you in your self ego , think you are superior .
Try playing the point , rather than like the Spanish boy the man .

DN30. Before you get carried away with posting agreeing with your own posts , remember your highly intelligent friend in the opening post reckoned we should sign this particular Newcasle player , for the sole reason to piss them off . ( them = Sevco)

I would be ware DN 30 if you agree with yourself , the editors may decide to out you and that could be embarrashing . I wouldn't be so full of myself to even think about doing that .

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Apr 2015 10:04:20
As you seem to be psychoanalysing me (claiming that I think I am superior), I thought you would be aware of psychological projection. This is when someone projects a negative trait of themselves onto others as a defense mechanism.

Having read many of your posts I reckon I have hit the nail on the head in this instance.

By the way I was not attacking you earlier, merely pointing out the errors in your feeble arguments. If you are unable to take criticism you may want to consider whether or not posting on the internet is right for you. Just a suggestion.
