Use our rumours form to send us celtic transfer rumours.

We could argue all day about the politics behind the whole situation but I would just like to commend CFC for yet again helping those less fortunate than all of us, this time with the refugee crisis in Syria and surrounding regions.

When you think of our financial situation compared to Real and Bayern it rings more true that we stick to our routes and help the vulnerable and weak.

I'm constantly complaining about the lack of investment in our team, and it's not just the beer talking, but if the money from my tickets and strips etc goes to help those in need as well as allows me to watch the hoops it's a timely reminder of why our club is so great.

Hail Hail amd god bless.

{Ed007's Note - What have the club done here, Jim?}

Think it's the proceeds of the jock stein game tomorrow he might be talking about ed

Agree5 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Hhhhhmmmm, so the club's actually not doing anything? The fans money from the game was always going to charity anyway. I think the fans who are travelling to Dunfermline for the match are a credit to themselves and to our support and those supporters deserve a hell of a lot more plaudits than the club who basically haven't done anything except decide where the supporters money goes from a prearranged charity game.
None of the money is coming out of club's coffers and as regularly happens, praising the club because of the generosity of the support doesn't sit well with me, it's the support that deserve all the plaudits, they're the ones digging deep in these hard times to buy tickets for the game and helping those less fortunate, the club are doing nothing but basking in the glory of our wonderful charitable support, look at the good publicity this has brought to the club and it didn't cost them a thin dime, the fans are the ones paying for it.
I see Pedro has used this opportunity to put his head above the parapet again, where was he when we crashed out the CL or had one of the most disappointing transfer windows in recent years?

"Celtic was established as a football club to help people in need and this ethos remains a fundamental part of our club almost 130 years after our formation."

This is from a man who charges the Kano Foundation for tickets, merchandise and food at the stadium! A stadium we are struggling to fill and he's charging a charity who collects money from CFC supporters to take underprivileged kids to games and the club are making money out of it, the price of 89 children under 13 + 12 adult season tickets per season - it's a disgrace.
Where is the actual charity from the club that isn't subsidised by the support, surely it can't all be a one way street? The Kano Foundation could buy a minibus if Pedro gave them those tickets for free, they wouldn't need as many collections and fans charity money could go to other deserving causes rather than straight into the CFC coffers for season tickets. Why is this service exclusive to the Kano Foundation, this should be something ran by the club and available to all supporters, something we touched on the other day about making X amount of tickets per match to unemployed supporters, register in the scheme, prove you're unemployed and you go into a draw for a free adult and kid ticket for a match, or a carer for a disabled person, let some wee old guy that runs the local youth club to keep the young ones off the weed and wine phone up and arrange for an adult ticket and 4 kids ones for a day out at a game, as long as these people can prove their case where's the harm in it? It's not as if you're giving away season tickets, it might be the persons only ever visit to Paradise. There's plenty of these people out there and there's plenty of seats needing filled

Well put ED! Agree with every word! Had my say on Lawell and won't change my mind that u couldn't mark his neck with a blow torch,Smug prick! Just up his street to use a terrible situation like this to get his arrogant face out in public for the 1st time in months! Like u said mate.u couldn't have located him with a sat nav during our CL disaster and pathetic transfer dealings! Usual the fans using there hard earned cash and he turns it round like he's the one doing the good deed! And I 2nd your opinion that all the fans going to the jock stein match deserve all the credit from this! I applaude every one of them.

{Ed007's Note - Pedro has a bigger brass neck than any the Kellys or Whites, he should be chased down Kerrydale Street and banned from Celtic Park. The highest paid executive at Everton is on £350k a year, West Ham's is about £600k.
Lawwell is the highest paid employee at CFC and higher paid than a lot of chief executive's in the EPL, what's this shyster doing for his £1m+ a year with his heated driveway for his chauffeur driven club car and expenses account. He simply MUST shoulder a large of the responsibility for the problems and failures at the club, problems that have continued on from the last manager's time here, the prime example being player recruitment.
There's not many clubs out there where the chief executive is better paid than the players.}

Again correcting me Ed. You obviously know the club aren't contributing anything, apart from mine and others ticket money. If that is the case then yeah, it's a huge let down, especially given the PR stunt that you have quoted. It's a great cause and i've obviously missed the small print. Don't know what to think know.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I wasn't correcting you mate and I certainly didn't intend for it to come across like that, I thought something else had been announced that I had missed.
Of course it's a great cause and every penny collected is vital, but remember that it's the supporters like you that's money it is, the supporters are again the good guys in all this but the club is getting the praise.}

Excellent post Ed. if Celtic want to claim credit, they should match the fans input, but we all know that won't happen.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Thanks mate, I appreciate that. I was in two minds whether to post it but after the last week or so I'm at the (swear) it stage now. I was expecting a barrage of abuse but I've not had one negative response, which did surprise me so maybe others have felt the same but just never wanted to say, it's hard to go against the #celticfamily and the everything's perfect consumer brigade but there's no harm in asking legitimate questions about our club.
In my opinion there is a lot of fleecing of CFC fans going on just now and not just by the club, but this is neither the time or place for my thoughts on it.
The only time I have ever asked you guys for money is to click on an advert, it helps Ed001 and Ed033 cover the running costs, servers etc All our sites involve a lot more technology and costs than producing a blog which anyone can do - you don't see any donate button on our sites or asking for donations because 'this is what we do', suddenly everybody that can write a blog thinks it should be their living, and there's supporters falling for their BS, why would anyone pay someone for their opinion, the Daily Record pay Keith 'Man Utd need a bigger plane' Jackson to write his opinion and people buy the paper to read it, why would you pay some random CFC supporter for giving you his opinion on something, they're both as bad as each other.
There's been months when Ed001 and Ed033 have been out of pocket paying the bills and that's them living in a tax haven, that annoys me if I'm honest, surely what we provide is worth a click on an advert or two every now and again.
We all work hard for our money - be careful who you give it to and be wary of their intentions.}

Does the blame not lie with the people who pay him this money? Or does lawell negotiate his own salary . Serious question , I don't know the answer. Does lawell run Celtic or is he paid his ridiculous salary to protect those who do

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Now that I don't know, Bobby but it's certainly something I'll try and find out. I'll always be fair and give credit where it's due, Lawwell did give up an annual bonus a couple of times when we didn't win the league which I did compliment him on at the time.}

06 Sep 2015 01:25:49
Well said sir.
Another question I'm not sure if there is an answer or not. Do the main shareholders take money from the profits made?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Preference shares (DD, Pedro etc) pay a dividend.}

06 Sep 2015 01:21:02
I hope you can bud, just seems obscene to me that an obviously highly intelligent individual such as peter lawell can spout so much rubbish and expect everyone to believe him. In my opinion he has to be under orders

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Sep 2015 09:50:07
Looking at 2014 accounts which is laters published DD is by far the largest shareholder of preference shares and it looks like he had about £300k in dividends. I can't quite remember I would need to get the accounts back out but if I remember it's around £300 I think. In the accounts there's a list of preference shareholders with their shares. Then if you look at the dividend payments and work it back you can get to their actual payments. To be fair I wS surprised at DD was only getting that amount as his remuneration for being a director is £25k. In real terms money from CFC is small change to him, however since he is not putting any money into the club now and is getting £325k or so out every year it's not a bad return but he is not taking millions. He leaves that to PL!

Seven CEOs in the EPL earned in excess of £1 m in season 2012/13 . Nine earned less and four didn't disclose the earnings of their CEO .

Has been very interesting reading the posts regarding Scott brown ,strange how different posters have such diverse opinions but is it really so strange I suspect these opinions are based on different periods of time anyone judging Scott over the full time of his time at Celtic park can only come to the conclusion he has been a tremendous asset to c f c ,but if you base your opinion purely on say the last year or so then you could quite easily come up with a totally different verdict,so why is this , some have suggested that he is not fully fit and has not been for the last year,possible ,but if this is the case then the club have been totally reckless not taking him out of the side regardless of the overall impact and you have to ask yourself if they would allow this to happen,I think not.so what else is could it be as you do not become a bad player overnight, I think it's possibly down to the fitness levels now expected at the club,sound silly maybe,but let's look at it Deila is first comments were about fitness,Collins who is a fitness fanatic and mcguiness when he managed Donegal,true he made them all Ireland champions and that was down purely to their fitness levels,but these same players suffered at club level because they could not keep those levels over a period of time they were leaving to much on the training ground,so why then only Scott brown,I believe it's more than scotty, g.m.s at first was a standout,johansen. Player of the year,Armstrong full of running,how many full 90mins has he had this season,commons a shadow of the player he was,stokes when he got a game admitting he was running on empty the last 20mins,defenders who seem out towards the end of games losing stupid goals,of course I may be wrong but I believe food for thought is there to much being left on the training ground with this pressing game,Maybe

Good point; and when the Malmo manager mentioned our tiredness and fatigue I thought he was psyching out our manager and playing mind-games.
However, we have faded in several matches this season (losing late goals at Kilmarnock, home to Malmo and Inverness) and I have said on here before about the sluggishness of certain players even though we are only in September, where we are usually fresh and powerful.
There is a lot to be said about over-training and stamina and Celtic have always been a fitter and more energetic team than our opponents because of the amount of possession and attacking - but we are certainly lacking something.
The closing-down, high tempo game promised by RD is rarely seen and we have quite a few 'jaded' or unfit players already like Brown, Johansen Izzy and Commons who are among others that are struggling to produce what they are well capable of (and expected to perform) every week.

Brown last night and at times this season especially against Malmo has shown the zest and will to win he normally does .
I wonder is Scot Brown and other lethargy coming about from playing or preparing for International matches in June and back playing Champions League qualifiers in July a very short break indeed .
Like you Jungle Jim I have been very disappointed the way we have finished games . We have let inferior teams back in, and we should have mounted an all out assault on Malmo for the last 15-20 mins . We don't seem to have subs that can bring new life to the game .

We ended the season brilliantly so its odd to see how they're struggling so early in the season. It does look like its affecting a few, Johansen, GMS, Brown, Armstrong is struggling a little too these are key areas where we need them to be on their game week in week out. I worry with the international break they will cone back even more tired Armstrong excluded. And with an unsurprisingly away trip to Aberdeen next up domestically I hope Deila gets it right as a win will make us outright table toppers.
