right then the dust has settled.

well happy with the transfer window business, in and out. the only real concern I have is cover for izzy at left back. mulgrew and matthews can play there, but if RD is going to play 4-3-3, we need a left back who can first and foremost defend - someone who knows when to get forward to support and when to hang back - and unfortunately izzy is too much of a liability in europe.

up front we are looking much healthier with sepovic and guidetti coming in. these guys will score goals - no doubt about it. reading davie hay in the paper today saying how a club should always have 4 quality strikers, well I reckon these 2 guys, stokes and griffiths is as good as we could have hoped for.

so let's have a look at the squad overall

GK - gordon zaluska fasan

DF - vvd lustig denayer ambrose izzy matthews fisher o'connell

MF - brown commons forrest johanssen mulgrew tonev macgregor boerrigter berget kayal henderson wakaso

FW - sepovic guidetti stokes griffiths

this 27 man squad should be strong enough for the league, cups and a good run in europe. it should have enough versatility and quality.

still think it will take a while for RD to put his stamp on things, but I reckon this team has the potential to become as good as anything we've had since the MON days.

hail hail

Hopefully you will be able to put Rogic in your team when he is fit too. I believe the bhoy has a lot to offer your team and played in the correct position is really going to be something!

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate I would be surprised if he played 4-3-3 again. I think he will stick with 4-4-2

DN30 RD is not going to play a 4/4/2 system when he now had the players he wants. He plays a 4/3/2/1 and he will stick to that. The better teams don't play 4/4/2 anymore but whatever the system I hope he can get the best out of the 2 new strikers. 4/4/2 would allow that but in the league at home I would like to see a 3/5/2 and really use the midfield to feed the strikers. In Europe it's a different story but 4/3/2/1 is never going to work away from home in Europe as the midfield is too light. Let's see what RD does?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - the better teams? The top two in England both played a variation of 4-4-2 as did Atletico last season. Not sure why you think the 'better teams' don't use 4-4-2 anymore, but I would suggest that Man City, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid would dispute your assertion.}

Matelot, I can't see what people see in rogic he looks a slower less moble version of biton who I also think flatters to decieve

Agree0 Disagree0

I think if any lessons have been learned over the past few weeks if we need to play to the players strengths rather than a formation that won't get the best out of them.

Maybe Ronny can work towards his 4-3-3 once we have a stronger midfield but at pressent, we're all over the place.

Agree0 Disagree0

@johnnymac imo I don't think he will play anything less than 4 in midfield regardless of what formation he chooses.

DN30 I agree with you that he needs 4 in the middle so I hope you are right

ED with respect all the formations are a variation now of 4/4/2 or 4/5/1 however Liverpool play a diamond formation which is more akin to a 4/3/2/. They drop to a 4/4/2 when they lose the ball but it is a diamond not a conventional 4/4/2. The majority of the better premiership teams are playing 1 main striker. Man U are trying a 3/5/2. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, are all playing a number 10 in behind the main striker. So ED , I stand by my point that the better teams don't play conventional 4/4/2.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - with respect, you have no idea what you are talking about. Your ignorance of what these numbers mean is showing. Too much time playing football manager and too little time actually knowing what they are. Liverpool's formation is more akin to 4-3-2? What the hell is that? Do we play with ten men? Or are you trying to claim it is a 4-3-3? If so you clearly have no idea. A number 10? This is ridiculous, you are just talking gibberish. If you mean they play an attacking midfielder, in lieu of a second striker, then you are wrong. Liverpool play 2 strikers. Did you not see the game against Spurs? Are you going to say Balotelli is an attacking midfielder or Sturridge? The better teams are the ones that finish higher in the leagues, I would say, but you obviously have some other definition of better. The better teams don't care what you say, because you obviously don't have any idea.}

Guidetti picks No.9 jersey No.7 lies empty still

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think it's a good thing he doesn't get the number seven jersey from now on at celtic I think number seven should be earned and not given or picked

Agree0 Disagree0

@1. Disagree mate.

Personally I think the number 7 should have been retired when jinky passed away. Might sound silly to some people but would have been a nice gesture for the greatest ever celt

Agree0 Disagree0

The number 7 top should never go to a guy who is only on loan

Agree0 Disagree0

To me its only a number, to young players it could be something to aspire to, our shirts where famous for not having numbers, when did we actually start wearing numbers on our jerseys, I remember uefa forced us to wear them for Europe was it het early 80s?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry thought i'd posted full reply. Meant to say I disagree cause some of the greatest players to play for club have started with number 7 on their back.

Also to say it should be earned could cause problems. What if there are 2/3 players who are all playing amazing football who want number 7, who do you pick?

Alright ed do you think there's a realistic chance we could sign gudetti on a permanent deal if thngs go well for him or do you think wel be priced out a move was really impressed with the way he spoke about celtic and seems happy he's here

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I don't see why we won't be in the driving seat when it comes to signing Guidetti full time, we have a season to convince him it's the best move for him.}

05 Sep 2014 15:41:10
Afternoon Ed.
Do you think we will make any out of contract signings, or do you think we are done.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It looks like we're done.}

Ok cheers I suppose I was being a bit greedy after such a good window lol

Hi Ed. How you keeping mate? Well it's great to see John Guidetti signing for us. You were the first person a few years back that mention him. I have been following his progress since and wish that we would get him. I notice that Ronaldino is a free agent. A English conference team are trying to sign him surely we could take him to park head. He can still play and the merchandise alone the club would make a fortune is there anyway that the club might make a move? We all can dream. Hail Hail Bigirshmac

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I'm good thanks, Bim and I hope you're well.}

If he doesn't score a hat trick that wins us the league in his first game the doomerz will want the loan terminated by Septembers end

Agree0 Disagree0

Only seen some clips on YouTube etc but he looks decent and can score goals. He's also a very confident bhoy! Seen an interview with him and he handles himself very well. Also likes to pump up the fans and team mates. Hope he does well and that he's over his injury. HH

See that Adam Drury is out of contract at moment. Surely we must be able to take a gamble with this guy who would be able to provide IZZY with some type of challenge and motivation for LB?

No?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Really excited about Guidetti, some of the most successful loans have always been where individual has only a year left in his current deal, he seems hungry, fact he was willing to wait until Jan too to just get here, has spoken very well so far in terms of awareness also the fact he has spoken about acquiring the No. 7 jersey and the relevance of it makes me think he does not lack confidence despite little football!

That jersey lay empty far to long IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

There is no point just using the no 7 until we had someone good enough to wear it. Now we have someone let's hope he can be as good as he was
