The most interesting thing for me today is the captain coming out and saying that players were 'hiding', and the manager talking about how many chances we had as though things were ok we just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net. We might have missed chances, but I believe brown that people were and are hiding (doesn't really matter how good your diet is and how fit you are if you are going to spend the match hiding) and that to me means that the manager has either lost the dressing room or maybe never had it in the first place. I want to know what players the captain thinks were hiding and I think they shouldn't be paid this week. I know Royal Mail wouldn't pay me or keep me in a job if I decided I couldn't be arsed delivering peoples mail! Raging the more I think about Scott Browns comments.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

The whole team is 'hiding' as this is not like any Celtic team I have seen for decades. Commons is a shadow of last season and maybe that is the new managers 'influence' or the fact he is now on a reduced contract?
Izzaguire and Ambrose came back from a world cup and may need 'resting' to recharge the batteries as mental tiredness costs goals?
A third of the team are loan players and have no real loyalty to Celtic - and I know they are professionals - but their hearts may not be in it?
The systems and formations may not be suiting the players and they have no confidence in the manager?
There is a lot of possible factors and none of them are good for Celtic and one thing that is coming across loud and clear in this current crisis - Looking at the attendances; the supporters are 'hiding' too!

For those who were at the game today, what was your thoughts on the Hamilton centre half Michael Devlin? Part of the best defence in the league, only just turned 21 and a die hard Celtic fan? I thought he was man of the match today. Never lost a header and very composed on the ball.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Maybe we will get him in on loan with a view to buy in jan window

Cousin lol. Was interested in fellow fans thoughts on him though. He is in dreamland today, best day of his life and he was immense in my biased opinion

I like Ziggy Gordon, Michael Devlin, Tony Andreu + Ali Crawford. All cracking prospects!

Imagine we are half way thro last season, and if I was to pose the question that next season we are a quarterway thro next season with bein put out the CL TWICE and now 6 points behind Hamilton having scored less and conceded more would you want rid of the manager? Not only would you not believe me but I think you would be callin for his head big time.

After Brown's interview lately, and the murmurings on the forum about RD losing the confidence and trust of the players, it occurs to me that most who might have followed Lennon would face the same issue. RD is soft-spoken, and quietly reasonable - the squad are used to a rollicking passionate man - and perhaps this has something to do with it. He's a tough man to follow on a direct, personal level. I think if we can get over this it may come together. But is there time?

No excuses for the results - but it seems sensible to blame the dynamic between the manager and the players, rather than one or the other.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

John Collins. Does he truely have our captains backing? What did Brown tell the bhoys about him before/after Collins was appointed?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Wasn't Collins championed by a lot of supporters as the ideal assistant manager as he knew Scottish football inside out, was a proven great coach and had played for the club? If players didn't like it they could go etc etc etc......}

Not me Ed, but perhaps a few.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There was plenty on here doing, Jimbo. Remember someone had seen him coaching kids for the SFA (That Mark Wotte's a genius eh?)

Not TV, 1st hand experience of working with him and having him work with my boys. Experience of seeing how he behaves 1st hand......

John Collins has been working with the SFA for the last 6 months and he has been working with Adidas Coerver for years, coaching coaches. What he brings is a standard that has been missing. He will demand better from the players, better fitness, better technical quality and if we play as people are saying the new boss likes then the players must have those attributes. People keep going on about he upset at Hibs and in Belgium and then they say he has been out of the game for 6 years, can't have it both ways can you. Either moan about he hasn't been in the top flight or he upset people years ago. so did Neil Lennon, so did Gordon Strachan, so did Big Jock for goodness sake, wouldn't be human otherwise. I know how good a coach he is and that is why he is there, nothing to do with being ex Celtic, he is there on ability. If they work they way I hope then this Celtic team will be high tempo, slick and play really good football. but we can't have that now can we.

Ed, a lot of us ALSO did not want Collins this was a team thrown together that included Kennedy! NL did not do him any favours IMO by declaring RD was to be a number 2! Undermined him right away but you have to agree this is AWFUL!?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed that was the media line. Was anyone on here saying it? I think mostly we were chagrined by Collins. Thanks JimTim for the reminder: that may well be the basis of Broony's ambivalence. I don't think they're cool. Special pleading at every interview.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Really? Use the search function for John Collins and see what posters on here were saying, there's loads of it.}

Also, Collins seems to hide in the dugout like Gollum. His press conferences are the epitome of defensive.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, in one response you seem to be now behind Collins? We all had an idea of who we wanted when you piped up with stubbs but countered it by saying his mrs probably had bad memories of up here we were all gutted / flat when he turned up the following week @ hibs! A cannot see a formula where we counter spl opposition with this system when he RD was appointed the regs on here after he started saying 4-3-3 where does commons fit where does mulgrew fit like them or not they are 2 of our 3 leaders on that pitch! Atvb

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've never been behind Collins appointment, that was someone else posting those 2 statements arguing with me about it.}

Take the point Ed - without wanting to research it . No disrespect man - its just a contrary opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Opinions are fine, you shouldn't try and pass opinion as fact though.}

"I think most were chagrined by Collins appointment"-

surely that doesn't read as a factual statement, Ed, c'mon now.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I wasn't meaning you.}

That's a funny one about coaching kids mind. However I must share that one of my best friends was coached by Alan Irvine as a youth and claims he's the best coach he's had. AI ain't doing to bad just now. Different managers I know that's the point but just saying.

Time to have a serious debate.

You cannot simply HOPE that something will work out for the best, and thus justify putting a 1 year backstop on the RD/JC regime.

Many posters are saying you need to give this until the end of the season, and then we can assess it but there are some very interesting counter intuitive arguments too.

Like for instance, when it is not going your way results wise but there is a week on week tangible improvement with the feeling that better results await "around the corner" you can justify more time

but when performances are poor, and then very poor, and rank average at best, and then poor again, this begs the question.WHAT DOES ANY MANAGER IN ANY BUSINESS (that involves motivating and organising a team) NEED TO DO (AND ACHIEVE WEEK TO WEEK) IN ORDER TO JUSTIFIABLY WANT MORE TIME to execute their plan?

So, this is the question, if you an RD fan or an RD doubter (even doubters are fans (!), what do you think, on the positive side, needs to happen for RD to get the masses behind him and believing in him.

I would say a win in the League Cup q/finals
a double win over Astra
a 5-game winning run in the league

with that in the bag, I would perhaps hope again!

equally, what will it take to see the majority of us lose patience (not to be confused with shouting and screaming at him) but LOSING hope; what would it take

is he one game away or two or there or would a WDLWDLWDL (IE inconsistency) be the killer combination.

I would be interested to hear fellow fans views on what it will take for the us all to BELIEVE and, vice versa, what it would take for us all to LOSE HOPE

I think he could be sacked, IE this nonsense about RD being un-sackable due to PL ego is a complete nonsense (this is a money business. ) and if the tills stop pinging and the turnstiles stop click click clicking, the clock on RD's tenure will definitely start ticking

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hi paradise he goes on holiday back to Norway with the international break pressure is only going to mount IMO, what formula / scenario / path would now be acceptable teams are coming to parkhead now with no fear and that in itself speaks volumes if we could see " the nucleus of a base" even scope but there is nothing when we are winning ( a have been saying for weeks now) we are doing so with a large slice of luck, fortune and no one can deny that! Atvb

Agree0 Disagree0

I was thinking all afternoon - 'just as well we've got two games against this Astra lot'. If we lose one, or both, I doubt RD will have a job in Glasgow.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree, as I said earlier, there wasn't too much wrong at the end of last season that 2 or 3 quality signings would not have fixed. We certainly don't need all this upheaval
All this changing everything is just a cover for the club not spending some money.
It's the oldest trick in the book, for a new manager who is struggling to beat even mediocre teams like St Mirren, Motherwell and Hamilton, to blame it all on the previous manager, despite the fact the previous manager was able to beat these same teams quite easily most of the time.

As stated before Ronny plays the wrong formation. The players have not bought into it.

you are bang on with that post…it goes back to the point about progress…if there was a base…if there was a new emerging talent who could influence the outcome of games….if there was game on game improvement from more than half of the starting eleven …

there is nothing like it

you also make a very valid point about "winning" and the journey to the win…it isn't coming off the back of dominant swashbuckling performances

A said weeks ago that you cannot play a 4-3-3 in this league with two wingers! RD the king of the" counter attack " only one flaw in that system folks you have to BE attacked to counter it! How many managers opposing over the years have said the likes of we are not going to Celtic to attack or contest it is a damage limitations exercise! This system is the easiest system to countermand if you have no intention to attack and if you pinch one again it is easy to go and defend 4-5-1, 5-4-1 or even as st mirren did go 6-4!

a stupid man could have figured this out very very quickly! RD was packaged as the new Jürgen Klopp, the closest he will get to that IMO is the donkey he is vastly becoming so KLIPPTY KLOPP might be more appropriate!

Just heard this was Hamilton's first win at Celtic Park since 1938, says it all about Delia, he has made our great team a laughing stock in the champions league and is doing the same in our SPFL.
He keeps talking about fitness, he has had from the summer to imrpvove this, attacking free flowing football? when is this going to happen? He is a joke manager who has turned all the jokes on Celtic. Joke defending and joke error strewn passes trying to find a team mate, this is Delia's Celtic.
Lawwell brought him in as a cheap option knowing he would not ask for a big salary or a decent transfer budget, a yes man.
Speaking of Lawwell, I have asked this question before, can you honestly see him paying big transfer fees for Tonev, Wakaso or even trying to sign Guidetti on a permanent deal, if we get ONE we will be very lucky.
But then again only Guidetti looks like a decent buy the other two along with Berget are rank.
I keep hearing Celtic fans say we will still win the title, well this tim is worried with Delia in charge we will not.
I said weeks ago that Delia is Mowbray mark 2, sadly it appears I may have been right.

Give Steve Clarke the job Deila is lost it.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Oct 2014 20:17:01
It's not as simple as giving someone the job. They have to want it. I am sure Steve Clark or his agent were sounded out first time around. The question is who wants it? Look at Neil Lennon. Did a job here, got CL experience and can't get a sniff of a job. Other managers will look at that and think to themselves if I take the job where do I go next? Also, if we don't pay players enough to get them to come to us instead of even Championship teams, the same will apply to managers. Lennon was a get out of jail card for the Board. He was there and available so they gave him a shot and it turned out Ok. Lawell was either very brave and forward thinking when he went for RD or else no one else they approached wanted the job. There were a few offered the job ahead of RD, Larsson being one if them. He turned it down so it's not a case that good managers are knocking down the door to get the job just as players are not crawling on hands and knees to play for us either. It's more about who could we get rather than who do we want.

Agree3 Disagree0

Johnnymac…there would ave been a very long list of nondescript unheard of managers in leagues across the world who had/were doing wonders with unfancied clubs and working mini miracles….

we got RD

he was NOT the hottest next young thing coming out of Europe …

this is/was/remains a gamble plain and simple but now fear it was a cheap option

it would be interesting to see how Stromsgodset won that league …with what style of football. by how many points….how dominant where they game to game or were they strong at home and mince away ….

did stromsgodset win that league because of RD or in spite of RD…

I'm away to investigate

Agree0 Disagree0

We did bring in a Championship winning European Manager, ok Norway isn't a hotbed of European Football but neither is Scotland .
Maybe the biggest mistake was the appointment of John Collins as his number 2. I understand Deila's number 2 in Norway struck one of the players who hadn't done what was wanted. Maybe some of our current squad could benefit from the same treatment .

Hello,

Some excellent points made after today's debacle. To be fair to majority of posters, it is clear that everyone (even the most bemused and downbeat) want to find something (anything!) to say that is positive.

A few have hinted that you can get the odd freak result, IE when you terrorise a team and have one of those days when the keeper played a blinder and the woodwork almost moves towards the ball! It happens, but what we are witnessing at this juncture is well below par and does pose some worrying questions.

Sometimes we get caught up in debates and take entrenched positions meaning that we become a little unhinged. But let us simply look at the facts.

Maybe we were less fit last year, but we still dominated domestically and won a number of games at a canter. This year, it is not happening.

A quick look at results tells a miserable tale of woe. Warsaw away 4-1. Home to warsaw 0-2. Maribor away 1-1 and home 0-1. Inverness away defeat. Dundee away draw. Motherwell home draw. Hamilton home defeat.

Aberdeen home (tight win) and St Johnstone away (what looked like a comprehensive win was actually a tale of two penalties and a sending off which gave us a win

A win over Zagreb put by in large played off the park and a draw in Salzburg.

A good win over Hearts but a game that could have been 1-1 going in to last 30 minutes; so a story there too.

In my view, we have been effective in one game this season; Dundee United (home).

I believe that the SYSTEM is wrong for the players we have; simple. This belligerent, strident approach where there is only one way RD is willing to go, will be his demise I am sure of it. We do not have the players out wide to do this system justice.

Ronaldo and Bale and James fulfil similar roles at Real but they are "forwards" who can pass, shoot, cross, and all of then can score.

Today's CFC has one man in the middle of the park because his partner fancies himself as a sweeper (Johansen), and we then have the lazy ACM with the big head and fat a*** relied upon to create. And a lone striker with totally ineffective wingers and full backs who dare rank average and we wonder why we are struggling.

RD might talk sense and he might be trying hard but he is not (and in my view will not) find the balance between week to week progress and actually getting acceptable results.

Diets are excuses; a diversionary target to take pressure of himself as he tries to implement his system and doctrine; this whole fitness issue is a side show to buy him time.

I cannot believe I am saying this, but if the system stays and the performances do not improve (I don;t mean results I mean the "performances") we will not win this league this year because there are better teams putting in better performances.

We can all turn a blind eye (or excuse) an unlucky performance, but we are not even getting performance let alone results.

Dear dear

A few years back Aberdeen had a manager called Ebbe Skovdahl who was Danish. He became a kind of cult figure at the Dons because he was essentially hopeless. This guy we have now won't cut the mustard as manager of Celtic It is not going to happen. I fear he will be our Ebbe Skovdahl.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

I have said it before, I never saw the need for such an overhaul.
We won the league by a street last season, and qualified for the last two çhampions league competitions. We obviously needed some quality players brought in, but I don't think it needed all this upheaval.
The bottom line seems to me that rather than spend money replacing the players that were sold, we are being asked to believe that it was the tactics that were wrong, along with the diet and fitness, and it was all the fault of the previous manager.
We have a rookie manager, because good experienced ones won't work under these financial restraints.
A club the size of Celtic should be aiming higher than a manager who although well meaning, is taking us backwards and shouldn't be trying his experiments at a club like ours
We should be able to attract a manager who is the finished article.

Agree4 Disagree0

05 Oct 2014 17:36:24
Why is it all RDs fault? could any of you have picked a better team given the players that are available? The players on the park in my opinion TODAY were at fault not RD I know I am going to get pelters for this but before you all jump down my neck ask yourselves this We did have a lot of chances none we converted was RD on the ball for that? the players on the park have to take the blame for today not RD

Believable1 Unbelievable0

05 Oct 2014 17:54:34
No one can jump down your throat for that post. You are right. The players seem to think they are immune from any blame here. I believe he has lost the dressing room. Commons needs to have a good look at himself. Have we given him a new contract yet? Hope not. However as this is RD last chance he may as well drop half the first team and being in the younger players who will at least try and play. The players should be ashamed.

Agree1 Disagree0

Agree to an extent. However, ronny seems to have lost the dressing room - or he never had it in the first place. Taking off our only player likely to score and leaving stokes on is also questionable. I really want ronny to work out and prove everyone wrong, he seems to say all the right things and has a great philosophy, but we're sitting 6th after a quarter of the season gone. Yes we'll win the league, but this is not good enough so far.
The board is the root cause of this problem though, time for a change there before anywhere else

Agree0 Disagree0

When we were making all the chances the two guys brought in to score goals were both sitting on the bench I blame RD for that, also condemn him as a coward for running straight up the tunnel at full time, staggered he is still in the job more than three hours after that result, let's hope when he goes he takes lawwell with him, out of the last 3 managers HE has appointed 2 have been a disaster any he got lucky with a rookie.

Agree0 Disagree0

How naive are you ronny trains them picks tactics and selects formation and personnel the manager always gets the major stick and rightly so. It was embarrassing today watching our 2 centre mids trying to start play behind our centre backs when they should have been 20 yards further forward. Personally I didn't want him in the first place and I want him even less now. I'm all for players getting fitter but don't hide behind it when your tactics stink

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Oct 2014 18:19:14
Today I think that RD was let down by poor finishing. I value a lot of the opinions of the regular posters on here but I find myself quite frustrated at people's short sightedness and fear of a changing game. Our team are making a transition on a few different levels. Players of lesser quality worth less money also a manager who may not have the pedigree some people want and the players struggling with tactical and training overhaul. Manchester United are going through the exact sane thing but all off the above is the opposite except the training and tactical overhaul. Celtic will win the league by 10 points plus and will be twice as good in the next campaign. Ronny will be given time as he's already had the freedom to change so much already. It's so typical of Celtic fans to be impatient and expect more of how it 'used' to be. I think Lawwell and the others in charge will be a different outfit next season once all of the changes are the norm. I'm very annoyed with the results but the people to blame if we must are the ones that missed glaring chances and collect there big appearance fees and high weekly checks. I have no doubt who ever didn't do there job will get their nuts booted!

Agree1 Disagree0

Of course it's the managers fault, a good manager will play a team to its strengths, not keep playing a system that doesn't suit, he may not have inherited a fantastic team, but they won the league at a canter last year, and he has brought some players in.
This is on a par with mowbrays reign, and Lennon inheritated a worse team than delia has.

Agree2 Disagree1

05 Oct 2014 18:50:28
So when a striker doesn't put the ball in the net it's the managers fault? Total nonsense. Your right. Sack him and bring in Malky Mackay the racist homophobe. That will do the Celtic brand the world of good.

Jbhoy a disagree that lennon inherited a worse squad than deila. When lennon got the job he had players like boruc, hinkel, samaras, maloney, mcgeady, n'guemo, broony, mcmanus, o'dea, naylor, mark wilson, hooiveld, loovens, ki, forrest. My opinion they are better players than deila inherited with the exception of virgil, lustig and maybe commons

05 Oct 2014 20:01:16
Every post has some good points and some questionable points. Yes we had chances and the players should have scored 2 or 3 today, so shame on them. Will RD turn this around? IMO not if he sticks with this 4-2-3-1 system but I don't think he had a plan B. Saw a post saying we will still win the league, well that is hopeful at best. So far there is nothing on the pitch suggesting we are moving forward so why will we win the league? Because we always do? That don't cut it anymore. Look at the stats. Only won twice at Celtic PRk this season in the league. I don't think we will qualify out of the Europa League group. We have been fortunate so far. RD tells us all what we want to hear, his latest being to win 10 games on the spin. That was only last week. We have not won 2 back to back league games all season. Hamilton work on a shoestring. Don't know what their top earner is but it's way below what any if our squad are picking up. They are training and probably eating chips and drinking cola but they play with passion and scrap for every ball. We don't do that anymore. So leave the duet and fitness stuff to one side? Where is the fight and the will to win? Where had that gone from last season? Unless you have that it does not matter how good or how fit you are! We don't seem to have it anymore.

Agree3 Disagree0

Gunniebhoy, us arguing over the better squad is like arguing over the best disease to die of,
The team Lennon inherited were very poor, and were pumped in the league (albeit containing the shame).
The point I'm trying to make is it was the same squad who won the league convincingly, and the way things are going, unless changes happen this attitude of well win league anyway, will jump up, and bite our @rse

I don't know what's worse; being sixth in the table or only managing to win half our matches, after 8 games.
It does not matter how many polls are posted about the new manager and his theories/philosophy - we are a total shambles thanks to him and Collins in charge.

Celtic Park should always be a fortress, but all of our opponents at home, this season (barring Dundee Utd) have more than matched us and that's not right.
I know Hamilton are on a great run of form, but we are struggling to beat anyone every feckin week.

The club has been allowed to deteriorate drastically in the past couple of seasons and the warning signs were there during last seasons CL, where we were found out and finally capitulated at the Camp Nou.
NL got out at the right time, but still managed to run riot in the SPL with most of the players here now.
These same players with the new signings and loans have collectively imploded under the new regime and now we are in our worst position for years.
They are clearly under performing and if it continues, it will only end in one way - and when it does I hope Lawell does the decent thing and leave as well.

He and the Board have sat back and allowed our best players to leave at huge profits; while replacing them with mediocre or unsuitable players. This policy has also been applied to managers to a certain extent and all these factors have contributed to the decline in standards and quality that is on show today.

I said RD was not big enough for the job. My opinion has not changed. He rambled this week about fitness and stepping up to meet Europe challenge. We had two goes at CL and failed miserably. Now we are way out of touch in league but everyone has banged on about it being a gimme. I said after 3 games we needed to get our act together and a few people shot me down. check out the table. I liked NL but like most of you, I believed he played favorites and that cost us. That said, I don't believe we would be sitting in this position now if he was still in charge. board failed NL and now that we have sold the backbone of a great team over the last two year we are seeing the results. Fair bank balance and average team. Even fortress Parkhead now holds no fears fir anyone. Can see massive humiliation if we get drawn against the undead anytime soon. where do we go now?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Ronnie does things to the extremes. He rants on about diets and fitness, keeps the same team that played on Thursday apart from Guidetti for Tonev.
Maybe less provocative talk about diet and maybe just one or two more changes and a wee switch in formation

Listening to RD on the radio there! Man talks total garbage! Celtic made 10 to 15 chances! Guys on a different planet! The only guy we spend money on doesn't even get on the pitch! We are an absolute shambles rite now! And all this great against Zagreb really doesn't wash with me! We were lucky to get a result against them, they had enough chances to win 5 games! We've continually struggled in every one of our games this season, apart from Dundee utd! I can't actually believe There's a chance we mite not win this league! It's a total joke! Get rid of deila and Collins ASAP! And this isn't just off the back of one game, this is been all season! Out of Europe twice before the seasons barely started, 8 games into the league and we're in 6th! 6 points behind a team who got promoted via the playoffs!! Who have scored more and conceeded less than us! just to make It even worse! Get them out before any more damage is done! And take lawell with them! Because that guys a disgrace!

I think whether we believe in Deila and Collins or not, we can't just get rid of them now . I think we probably have to give them at least this season unless things go very wrong . I think they need to be told by D Desmond that Celtic demand some flair and style as well as results . Just winning games 1 nil or 2-1 and playing the way we are is not acceptable . We need heart and soul in the Celtic team . We are sadly not getting it, we are too predictable and teams of poorer quality can plan too easily to frustrate us .

Yourman how can you give them a season. In any business if you bring in a manager and his division just loses money , produces crap instead of quality product the business would need to get rid of him. You can't keep hoping he will come good? He needs to show done signs of progress. Now to be fair, Commons looks as if he can't be bothered, and many of last seasons squad are awfull. So the players need to take a lot of the blame. They seem to think they are immune of any blame. Look for RD it's now last throw of the dice. He may as well stick a load of them on the transfer market and start working with the younger players. If he sticks with the established Bhoys from last season he had no chance. It looks as if they want their chips back on the menu at all costs.

Agree3 Disagree0

Johnnymac, I have two reasons for giving them a season, 1st to give them every chance to turn it round and 2nd so that Lawwell and the board can do something to make Celtic an attractive preposition to prospective managers and players . At the moment Celtic supporters are leaving in droves . So too will our better players and the loans won't want to sign for us . We need to plan carefully and have money available to attract the right manager and players . To ditch Ronnie and John now, we would have nothing in place to replace them and we would get another dud .

Your man there will be no players coming to us on loan unless we have CL football so unless we win the league things will only get harder. If you go to a new job and can't cut it dies your manager just allow you to continue in the job? Think not.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sometimes you have to reach the bottom, before you start to build up again . Getting rid of Deila and replacing him with a failed Epl or other manager who is currently out of work is akin to moving the deck-chairs on the Titanic . If we want improvement Deila has to be given time to achieve it or prove just how bad we are .

Time for Peter Lawwell to go - n he can take Ronny Deila wi him, enough is enough. The demise of R*ngers should've been the dawning of a new era for Celtic Football Club.

They were deducted 15 pts in the league in their final season granting us the title, then Sevco were founded n started at the bottom tier of professional football in Scotland. That wis basically 4 guaranteed pops at UCL football, or the other way to look at it, £60m plus.

2012-13: UCL last 16, great start; 2013-14: Group Stage, but we were humiliated; this season: we fluffed two attempts at making it through qualification. At this rate we'll be lucky to win the league.

Instead of increasing the gap between us n the rest of Scotland, he's got away wi downgrading not only the playing squad, but also the management team to a point we're unable to dominate teams domestically.

He's made himself a quick buck through buying cheap, selling at a price n buying even cheaper to the point we're loaning players wi an option to buy.

Lawwell has the final say so on whit players come n go, Lawwell had the say on who we appointed as Neil Lennon's replacement. There's no chance of the board sacking Deila cause that'd mean paying a severance package.

We've went fi a UEFA Cup Final under Martin O'Neill, to UCL last 16 under both Gordon Strachan n Neil Lennon - albeit on either side of Tony Mowbray, to this pish in 11 yrs.

Honestly can't remember a worse start to a league campaign by Celtic in my lifetime?!

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Definitely. Lawell out. Said on a thread last week, the inefficient running of our club -failures to make steps forward, lack of reinvestment, lack of ambition, lack of foresight - it's all been brushed under the rug lately, and PL will be delighted. Forget RD, forget any manager, the players being sold and brought in just don't match up. "Every penny will be reinvested" my arse.

Agree3 Disagree0

Getting rid of the MD will not make any difference as its the major shareholder who pulls all the strings. If we change the manager and get it right there is still time to turn things around but we need to act fast. If Ronnie is still around by the next league match then its clear the board will not sack him!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think if we sack the manager now, we will find it very difficult to get anyone to take his place . Prospective managers will be put off by the lack of funds available to them to get new players in I worry that our existing squad will feel they have beaten Deila and Collins and will take even more leeway with the new man .

Agree0 Disagree0

I want to see Delia succeed, but beginning to think he is not going to get chance to turn things around.

If by end of November he is found to be out his depth, then who next? Cause remember Delia wasnt exactly first choice as replacement for Lennon. In fact the thought is frightening!

Said several times in the past, celtic needs a total shakedown from ownership to strenghting squad.

Desmond has to go followed by lawwell. Only way things are going to improve.

We only have ourselves to blame for putting up with this carry on for so long. They are getting away with murder

Hail Hail, DN30, totally agree

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Oct 2014 17:50:06
DN30 you are so right. Issue is Desmond don't do walking away. Neither will Lawell. They will change the manager if we are still mid table by Christmas. There will be no change to the investment policy as there is no money in the SPL. It is what it is. I can't see how we get a change at the top, therefore I just want to see a product on the park and right now we are not seeing that.

Agree2 Disagree0

It's all good saying give Deila time, but I believe the managers job is too big for him. He has a great philosophy n vision, would make a cracking coach (possibly fitness coach) but has little to no tactical knowledge.

Taking Guidetti off n leaving Stokes on had me scratching my head watching that! Then telling VVD to bomb forward when we've got an unused sub n £2.3m striker on the bench?!

Stokes n Ambrose seem invincible, no matter how poor they play they won't get dropped based on the last 17 games.

Agree3 Disagree0

Hamiltonbhoy I can't see him here much longer. I've gave him benefit of doubt cause of what he done at stromsgedt, but hamilton at home should of been a win. No excuses.

Fault lies with board here. If they had no intention of spending anything of significance, they should of paid going rate and got a manager who has prior success operating this way.

The only reason Scepovic was signed was reluctantly to avoid a bigger uproar by supporters and I am beginning to think he is not all he is cracked up to be

Agree0 Disagree0

DN, Secepovic wasn't even Deila's signing! Same problem Lennon had! Same problem a few clubs have had with regards to transfers/directors of football. What John Park says goes. And that's because John Park pin points players based on the boards budget, which, is all about making a profit in the bank, not on the pitch. And most of them don't make a profit in the bank! Utter joke the way things are being run. I hope everybody's frustration soon diverts away from RD, but towards the people above him. RD has only been here a few months, the problems for me have been going on just a wee while longer.

Agree2 Disagree0

JimTim sorry I wasnt meaning anything about who signed Scepovic, just that I think its bizzare how he is not getting a game.

I don't think RD will last season, which is a shame cause he has had no backing financially apart from scepovic. For me it's beginning to look like he has been brought in as a scapegoat to deflect attention away from true state of finances.

Im sick of desmond and lawwell antics! They have got to go

Agree0 Disagree0

Desmond will depart from Celtic if someone gives him a good price for his shares and can demonstrate to D D that he has the financial clout and williness to push on Celtic .
We find it difficult to get the manager we want, and to entice the players .
I think it would be well nigh impossible to get someone to take over DD shareholding .

Agree0 Disagree0

DN I know you weren't mate I was just making an additional point.

Anyone surprised by the result? I for one am not and that is what is hard to take. If we were on a 10 match unbeaten run and lost today then yeah fair enough an occasional defeat happens and we move on.
I'm not saying we deserve to beat every team we play just because we are Celtic but when you are this far into the season and playing Hamilton at home ( no disrespect to them) and aren't confident of a good performance let alone taking 3 points then surely something is wrong.
I'm fed up of all this no chips and fizzy juice talk and how we need to improve fitness. I agree with it but its time we started getting results, the management team, players and board need to have a good look at themselves. And get it sorted. Its fans who are yet again drawing the short straw spending hard earned money on tickets, travel and merchandise and being left feeling shafted after the majority of the games with no signs of improvement

Believable2 Unbelievable1

I was all for giving Ronnie the season but its falling apart round about us. Even Thursday's game was terrible as we were played of the park for long spells and only Craig Gordon kept us in the match. Will the board bite the bullet and act now? Maybe but I suspect not. Also some of the players need to take a good long look in the mirror. One of the worst results in our history!

Agree0 Disagree0

A terrible performance, from a team that looked heavy legged throughout .
I wonder have they been worked hard since the game on Thursday .
Why the hell can we not change things for the last half hour . Switch tactics

Raging! I'm not one to be calling for a change in personnel but its time RD gets shown the door only 2 decent games this season and the rest an embarrassment to watch Izzy needs some time on the bench as his crossing has been atrocious as of late. Thought the team played a lot better when Griffiths came on he should get more game time as Stokes showed today he ain't good enough to start as he doesn't know where the goal is! Dreading going work tomorrow now for the sheer amount of stick due

Same here, I was handing it out to the Newco fans last week so will have to take some on the chin this week!

Another poor performance.
I don't think the players know what they're doing. So who is to blame?
The players are to blame and so is the manager. The players need to believe in each other and they need to believe in and understand Ronny's plan. The problem is they don't by the looks of it.
Mediocre at best today, but that seems to be an all too common summary of our performances this season.

Very disappointed but not really surprised. I think we'll still win the league and as players ours are better than the rest but we are no better than the other teams around us as far as desire and understanding are concerned.

We look no better now than we did when we played Warsaw. We are 9 weeks on from then and the side still look lost. When is RD going to produce this free glowing attacking football? Can understand this if we are playing against CL sides but this is Hamilton( with all respect )and we are at home! They last beat us in 1938! We had chances so we should have scored but we have very little going forward that is going to worry most teams. Lots of possession but we have no penetration. Now 6th in league (with a game in hand). Another couple of results like this between now and Christmas and we are going to need to put an unbeaten run together from January to win the league. I don't care what flack I take on this post, it us not working under RD and IMO it won't work. There is absolutely no sign of improvement what so ever. RD has got 6 new players in this season, that is half a team. He had got his 2 strikers, he has his quick players in Wakaso and Tonev, he has a centre back pairing, he has a decent keeper. Wait for the interview, he will say yet again that we looked tired? Surly we are fitter than Hamilton? Also look at the crowds. Less supporters turning out every week? Simply not acceptable. Enough said.

Board have to act now or we won't finish in the top 6. Absolute shambles.

Mr McKay Please give us a phone. Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree1

Board won't do anything. They won't spend money on 1 quality player, they will certainly not cough up to pay off a manager and bring someone new in.

Todays game was unreal. Finishing all season so far has been nothing short of pathetic. Not one of our forward line can win a header and if they do time and time again they mess it up.

Commons was dreadful for most of that match and this is the guy we are supposed to rely on for creativity.

Agree1 Disagree0

As for Malky ( I assume this is what you mean by Mr McKay ) he will never get a top flight job again due to the comments made previously.

It doesn't matter if you do or don't buy into Ronny's visions. He won't have the time to implement them anyway if he doesn't realise that this is a job like no other. He is going to have to juggle getting results with implementing his plans or he will be doing it somewhere else very soon. I can't help but wondering if CG hadn't played like he did in the 2 qualifiers and we were sitting on 0 points what position would be regarding the fans now. Come on Ronny I want you to do well!

I called it a week ago. No clean sheet, no drubbing like many expected. It's another poor day at the office, failure to clear our lines resulted in Accies going 1-0 up courtesy to Ali Crawford. We'll be lucky to take a point here!

Is there sections of the support (and press) willing Ronny Deila to fail just to prove their point?

1. Prove what point?
2. Why would any Celtic fan want Celtic to fail?
3. Just why, why, why?

Seriously though if you did want any Manager or player at the Club to fail because you think it gives your opinion some kinda credibility - you need to chuck it, games up!

Believable3 Unbelievable1

05 Oct 2014 08:53:07
I actually think there is certain fans who want him to fail mrs e. Not on here but in general if a manager just isn't liked I think some people would happily sacrifice results to get rid of a manager

Agree1 Disagree0

If there people out there with those views then they aren't celtic supporters. I mean the word speaks for itself 'support' I remember how many debates I used to have with people who claimed wee GS was a terrible manager and shouldn't be at Celtic. I wonder if they still think that? Markiebhoy

Agree1 Disagree0

I just can't accept this guys

If a Manager is poor then the results will show this same if he's decent.

We don't have to 'hope' for poor results.

I get if a Manager gets poor results after poor results and he's still in the job - maybe Pardrew? but not this, utterly ridiculous.

Your respected Managers get it wrong at times so if a Fan thinks they are going to go through life and not form an opinion that could turn out to be wrong, they are on cloud cuckoo land.

I don't think anyone dislikes RD. What is there to dislike? He seems a genuine guy trying his best for the club. Good luck to him. The jury is out on whether he can make his system work? That is different from disliking him. He has made some poor decisions in the past so let's hope he learns from them. I have criticised him but I want him to succeed because then the club succeeds. The important thing for Celtic is the club doing well on and off the field. I don't care who the manager is as long as he is making Celtic great. So RD go and do that.

Agree4 Disagree0

05 Oct 2014 10:14:27
Only reason I said a think people would want bad results is last season I read a few Manchester United fans actually saying I hope we keep getting beat so david moyes gets sacked lol. Couldn't believe it so wouldn't suprise me anymore if a small minority thought the same with deila but I really hope it's not the case

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't want the guy to fail or dislike him, there's nothing to dislike, I like the way he talks I even get the vision he has, but i'm just not enjoying watching us play football this season, I've seen a couple of fleeting moments but the consistency isn't there. If it comes then good but I just can't see it happening. I truly hope in wrong but in not feeling it

Agree0 Disagree0

I genuinely want Ronny to succeed, I could never hope my team got beat, and I have never wanted any manager at Celtic to be sacked.
That doesn't mean I can't have an opinion on whether the manager is doing the right thing. That is what these pages are for.
I don't claim my views are right, I only base them on what I have watched at Celtic over the years.
There is no way I would ever want Celtic to fail, and I could never be so arrogant as to think my opinions are so special that the manager should be sacked just to prove them right
I don't think any supporter who wants their team to lose, is really a true fan, what if you don't like the next manager?

Agree0 Disagree0

He has to go, get Malky McKay asap or our season is nearly over. That was as poor a performance as I have seen a Celtic team produce, utter rubbish. Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree1

If Maky McKay gets the job the press would have a field day, he should never hold a position in football again after his pitiful comments. Paul Hartley or Jackie Mac would be my choices!
