What’s your thoughts on Nicholas latest ED? I know you're a fan of his from the playing days!

😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣 brilliant ED! I actually remember that scene in Alan partridge 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😜😜.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm not even sure what Nicholas hss said but I'll have a guess he was half cut when he said it. Alan Partridge was quality (yes)

It seems he was almost wetting himself regarding Gerrard signing for them, saying he will do what Souness did.
He seems to forget that we were utter rubbish then and Old Co had the money and Souness went out and almost signed the entire Enland first team.

Another ex Celt that just wets themselves when it comes to Sevco.

Andy walker always creams himself over sevco.

I think they are just so happy to be able to have a pop at Celtic that they don't think about what they are saying. SG might get £10 to £15mill to spend if he is very lucky. Its last roll of the dice for them. If he spends £15mill and still comes 10 or 12 points behind us, he won't get another £15mill next season. So its this season or nothing for them. Hopefully we will spend at least that and we will generate that from sales of Moussa, Rogic and Armstrong. If any of those 3 stay then happy days. If he gets £15mill this season and you add the agents fees for him and his staff, pay off fees for jimmy Nicole and backroom staff they could have debts of £40mill at end of next season. £17mill in existing soft loans, £15mill transfer war chest, £3mill in pay offs and agents, £5mill operating loss which will need additional investment. So unless they get a run in Europa brining in £5mill its a £40mill hole. Its at least £35mill unless they add the money they raise from selling into his warchest? Maybe someone is going to invest £20mill for a blue blazer but with shares valued at 27p, £20mill is the full valuation of the club. They can't just agree a deal as it needs to go to shareholders but something must be agreed or SG would not be there but either way this is their last chance. Think King is on way out as well.

i was thinking of the progress that Celtic FC had made in the last 60 years
We have generally had some very good managers Stein, McNeil, Hay, Brady Burns, Venglos, Jannsen, O'Neil, Strachan, Lennon, and Rogers. Yes even Delia brought through some very good players.

We sometimes were let down by the owners but we seem to have put that behind us and now appear on a steady road and that is important to maintain. We have seen the pitfalls of greed and selfishness in other clubs and do not want our club to be lost to crooks.

We are now the preeminent club in Scotland.

05 May 2018 22:29:11
Brady?

05 May 2018 22:37:08
I would not consider Liam Brady or Dr Jo, good Managers, for Celtic anyway. But the rest of your post i agree with.

Venglos definitely had an eye for a player.

Dr jo brought in lubo so will always be in my heart but Brady was a disaster.

Question for everybody. In today's transfer market (if we were to sell tomorrow) how much do you reckon our first team squad is worth? After a quick calculation I came up with over £100 million, obviously I'm not including Musonda, Roberts or Edouard in this calculation. I would say we have had an outlay of roughly around £35 million in transfer fees to assemble this squad. Now that's how to run a football club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 May 2018 09:52:18
Stevie, think you are about right but if you gave BR £100mill and asked me to replace the entire squad i don't think it could be done. They would not all make it and you also need to see how and if they can play together. Now that's the task SG has. Rangers squad let's be kind here maybe worth £50mill and that's at a push. So they can spend another £20mill they are still not going to win league next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2018 10:41:51
hibs and aberdeen, sevco, fighting it out for second place in the spl and i don't think they have spent 2 million, apart from sevco, celtic have not spent a lot of millions either and won the league.

If it was the millions and the spending that won leagues then its a no brainer. but once again it does buys decent players, in today's market a decent player is 10 million + so the 100 Million would only buy 10 players.
my thoughts are the players are over priced, majority are overrated and the clubs look to the fans to pay over priced season tickets on the minimum wage or basic salary, some on a pension, but everyone has a choice. hail Hail, let's flatten these tarts the day.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2018 19:02:26
St Johnstone put 5 past Muderwell, at their gaff, if we don't hammer them in cup, there is no excuse and no hiding place, it would be an embarrassment. The cup is a given.

4 games to go i am looking for a goal feast, and one of our strikers to steal top spot. 5 fudds ahead of us, lafferty . we owe the tarts a gubbing tomorrow. hail hail.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

05 May 2018 20:38:51
They were saving themselves for the cup, it will be a different team attitude and commitment wise for the final, it would be foolish to think it will be a walk over., although it might well be.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 May 2018 22:32:27
They only have cup to play for and have downed tools to save themselves for it.
All it takes is a couple a dodgy decisions or a bit of bad luck.
Nothing is a given. We should know better than that.
We are entitled to nothing.
One more that them will do me fine.

Agree1 Disagree1

05 May 2018 23:22:37
A given? Nothing is a given and to say so lowers us to the Sevco mentality of self importance. Was the Kilmarnock defeat a given? Or the home draw against Dundee? We should win the treble but it's not a given and if Murderwell turn up they are capable of a result if we are off the boil on the day. Wasn't that long ago Ross County put us out in a Hampden semi. Every team deserves respect.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Spot on for me, Rab. The same Motherwell we've drew twice with this season.}

06 May 2018 09:56:43
Dont read too much into Motherwell result yesterday. All they have to play for is cup final. However they have Partick and Hamilton in their last 2 games who are fighting for their lives do maybe expect Motherwell to lose or draw next 2 but they will be in our faces on the day don't doubt that. No pushover this one.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2018 11:01:20
who do you think will win Celtic v Motherwell in the cup final.

Should i be worried that the crappy motherwell are going to turn us over and deny us the opportunity for a double treble. That they are saving themselves to play against 30 million pound striker and and 20 million pound defender and the player of the year. They can save a much as they want. their savings amount to hee haw.
I understand i used the word a given and you all say there is not such thing as a given. We know the underdog and has a chance.
It's going to take a good shot with that sling to slay goliath.

Was thinking we've a lot to be grateful to Stevie G string for if he hadn't fallen on his arse and cost Liverpool the league we may never have had Rodgers as manager! ☘️.

The world works in mysterious ways JFP. But for Stevie G string and his incredibly sore arse Brendan may not be here.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 May 2018 20:26:42
Indeed VT and Stevie G string who sounds like a bit of a sore arse himself is about to get an even sorer arse in Glasgow than he experienced in Liverpool. He sounded like a walking ego at his press conference but Brendan and Dermot will combine to burst that in the East End. ☘️.

He is like a good few ex-Celts who 'bend the knee' to SLY and adopt the party-line in all things anti-Celtic.
It's such a stomach churner to hear clowns like Nicholas, Walker, Provan and others who wore the Hoops, took the wages, adulation and medals, but are quick to try and criticize or belittle our club and it's achievements.
Bertie Auld and Chris Sutton could teach them all lesson.

If it's true about Edouard then the VVD money covert that and we have Megan coming in and Christie coming back before we even touch our CL money from this season. Very good position to be in even if Rogic and MD leave.

Royal wedding same day as cup final. take it Daviebhoy you`ll be doing the same as the mob coming to our house.

Record the game, and watch it after Harry says I do.

heard yesterday the 2000 punters who have been invited to Windsor Palace, for the wedding and garden party, have been told by letter to bring a packed lunch or picnic.

Tight feckers no even putting a wee buffet for them.

Ed I'm maybe late to the party which wouldn't be a first but are we looking like signing Edourde? Would be a great signing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - If Celtic and PSG can agree a deal then we'll sign him, remember transfers involve a lot more than just the transfer fee. I wouldn't be surprised if there was another years loan involved.}

05 May 2018 11:43:06
Ed what makes you think we might need another loan period first that’s disappointing? I was hoping this one would be an outright buy. PS: Belated happy birthday wishes!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Thanks buddy. I just think Lawwell might try and get an extension on the loan and buying option until next summer, you know what he's like when it comes to negotiations. PSG are willing for Edouard to go out on loan next season if he returns to Paris so why not just extend the loan that's already in place?}

05 May 2018 12:48:28
Hopefully the boy digs his heels in a bit and tells PSG he wants to stay here than go to Vitoria Setabul.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Edouard would be delighted to stay here permanently, he's enjoying his life living here and playing for Celtic with Kolo Toure mentoring him and the young foreigners he has made good friends with Dembele, Ntcham, Eboue Kouassi and Musonda.}

05 May 2018 14:16:01
Funny you should say that Ed, when I was at Easter Road a fortnight ago watching the warm-up, Edouard, Kouassi, Musonda and Ntcham along with Toure were very much in their own wee group. Seemed to be doing more chatting than warming up!
That must go a long way to making a player want to stay where he is.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's a major parts of Toure's job, Rab, making sure those youngsters are settled and happy being at Celtic and in Scotland.}

05 May 2018 14:44:56
Good points. I remember BR talking about tapping into the market of young African players. Kolo must be a massive influence for African or French-African youngsters. Bar Drogba, Eto'o and Yaya, Kolo must be the next big player for African players growing up this generation.

05 May 2018 20:26:17
Ed if Edouard's contract is up end of next year I would think they would want to deal now rather than let him walk away for free?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Who said Edouard's contract is up next year?}

05 May 2018 11:05:07
I wrote something similar to this at this time last season.

I hope PL steps up the recruitment and the money we spend in the summer.

Last year we were so far ahead of them and I hoped he would spend hard and move even further ahead of them.

We didn't do that, so I hope now they are making moves, we should spend on quality and not assume that cause we won the league again we can get away with not spending too much.

We will need it in Europe and it's time to stretch our legs.

Back Brendan with cash and let's secure our position for years to come.

😁🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀.

Spending more money might just mean buying a more expensive flop, spending wisely is better than spending big.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 May 2018 12:02:04
Absolutely agree aindoh, I'm all for splashing the cash but it must be on the right player in the right position. Let's face it, we must be loaded with all the champions league money etc compared to what we've spent in recent seasons, that's why I'm not one but concerned with all this talk of big investment imminent at sevco, if and i mean IF investment does come we'll just flex our financial muscle. For every fiver and all that.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2018 12:49:23
Lads, I said spend on quality, not just spend for spending sake. 😁.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2018 15:13:12
We already have a good strong squad but we Ned 2 or 3 players of a higher quality to take us forward in European terms, we especially need to strengthen our defence, a top class centre back and cover in both full back positions, Scott Bain will provide a challenge to Craig Gordon if he stays, a quality midfield playmaker who can look after the ball better would be good and get Paddy and Odsonne signed up permanently and keep hold of Stuart Armstrong and Tom Rogic , Ryan Christie and young Lewis Morgan coming back looking to kick on, we have a few players who we can move on, Dorus, Gamboa, Erik, Simunovic, Scott Allan, Ciftci and probably Nir Bitton and Jonny Hayes, we have a few youngsters who could benefit from a spell out on loan such as Hazard, Ralston, Miller,
Johnston, Hill and Benyu .

Agree1 Disagree0

05 May 2018 20:31:50
Paddy won't stay. Not sure about Moussa. Armstrong is off as is Rogic. Bitton won't move Hayes won't move, Cifti may not be able to give away so I can see his contract being terminated. Eric will get sold, as well as Allen. Good thing is that even without Dembele being sold those 4 should bring in around £15mill.
