Ed do you know when the deadline is to get players in for the qualifiers?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - 43.07 List A has to be submitted by the following fixed deadlines:
a. 20 June 2016 (24.00CET) for all matches in the first qualifying round;
b. 7 July 2016 (24.00CET) for all matches in the second qualifying round;
c. 21 July 2016 (24.00CET) for all matches in the third qualifying round;
d. 8 August 2016 (24.00CET) for all matches in the play-offs;
e. 1 September 2016 (24.00CET) for all further matches from the first match in
the group stage up to and including the final.

43.08 For the three qualifying rounds and the play-offs, a club may register a maximum of one new eligible player on List A after the above-mentioned deadlines,
provided the quota of locally trained players is respected. Such registration must
be completed by 24.00CET on the day before the relevant first-leg match and the
club’s association must confirm in writing that the new player is eligible to play at
domestic level at this time.}

ed dae ye know when the last bus comes past the sarry gaun tae eesturhoose.

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I didn't think you were allowed on buses if you were on the register.}

05 Jul 2016 19:53:18
so we would need to to buisness before thurs, can't see it maself, Cheers Ed, great help as per.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I'm hopeful that there will be a defender brought in before the deadline. In fact I'll go as far as to say that I am quietly confident.}

05 Jul 2016 21:27:27
As much as I don't think there is any rush for a defender to be brought in for the first qualifiers, it would be nice to get them in early in order for them to settle into a partnership with (I assume) Erik - provided it is the right defender and not just a defender. Ed, would you care to throw a name or even a small hint at us?

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - More talks have taken place with Kolo Toure.}

05 Jul 2016 21:30:57
Ed u should've just told him the bus times. Now he's missed his curfew n his tags gone like ****. See u when u get back out pat ma man.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - He prefers the sex on offer in there.}

05 Jul 2016 23:19:55
I think Rodgers is looking for 3 quality signings through the spine of the team before the deadline for CL 3rd qualifying round .Dembele in, Toure probably next and hopefully a quality Midfield playmaker which we might spend relatively big on to get in. Think Johansson or Bitton or both are for the off. Would like to complete the spine and sign a quality keeper too but maybe asking too much.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jul 2016 00:17:47
Best of luck to them both if they move on but it hasn't worked with them in the side. I'd rather they or any players were pushed out by better but to free up funds it isn't going to happen that way. We are going to have to take a few risks. Our bloated midfield have sparkled on occasion but against others have looked like mugs. The common denominator has to be that they aren't as good as we think or they don't want to be here so aren't performing. Take your pick.
I welcome reshuffle of the deck.

05 Jul 2016 23:28:23
Are you getting a wee inside nod on Toure ed?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - We need a defender in before Thursday's deadline and it looks as if Toure will be the easiest to get over the line. That could change but I'll be surprised if it does.}

06 Jul 2016 10:01:12
I know we sometimes expect and ask too much of you Ed, however, in your opinion, do you think we will be looking for another, longer term CB as well? Or would Toure be brought in to do a job until Jozo hopefully gets fit?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - It depends if anyone leaves I'd say. Toure on a short term deal will allow Simunovic to get fit and be assessed.}

05 Jul 2016 19:01:48
Personally i would let the 2 of them go to fund getting joe allen in from liverpool or even rep of irelands hendrick.

Marcus henriksson az alkmaar centre mid / att mid.

05 Jul 2016 21:32:30
Hendrick wasn't too highly thought of by Irish fans before the Euroes. He did well in them and improved nearly every match.

Reckon others will have said it but would keep Johansson ahead of Bitton any day of the week. Terrible season but guy can pass and move.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

05 Jul 2016 21:34:18
I would prefer if we kept both Bitton and Johanson at least until Christmas to see how they play for Rodgers.

Old bhoy

There is always a place for guile but nir is too uninvolved and AWOL too often when there's a battle to be won. You watch MacGregor and tierney run and support but nir opts to play in the slow lane too often.

He won't dig you out of danger and for that reason he should be moved on. Too many modern day midfielders get away with too much ( and do too little ) under the guise of " holding midfielder "!

A Paul lambert or deschamps he will never be I'm afraid. Our Norwegian Friend however still has the potential IMVHO.

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Jul 2016 18:07:33
No surprise, we are linked to everyone by the DR and also selling umpteen players for either inflated or deflated amounts, causing uncertainty, slagging old strips and using Commons to again stir up issues. Comical and amateurish attempts at journalism. Looking ahead is positive with hopefully news by end of week on truthful signing/ selling activities.

If Johansen and Bitton go I would hope they have a quality replacement to bring in .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Jul 2016 16:55:37
So with it looking like Johansen could be on his way to Turkey who else would you LIKE to see leave and who do you think Brendan WILL allow to go.
Here are choices of who I want out the door.
Mulgrew/ Commons (both troublemakers)
Ambrose (arrogant player who never learns from his mistakes)
Forrest (although given another chance by Rodgers)
GMS (simply not good enough to wear the hoops)
Biton (slows play down too much, if we get offer £8/ £10m take it)
With Johansen that is 7 players, cannot see all of them leaving but 4/ 5 would be good.
Hopefully Brendan will bring in 2 or 3 quality players.
Also any money made from sales should be put in Rodgers transfer kitty for summer or january windows.

05 Jul 2016 17:04:01
Do we have a better centre midfielder at the club?

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Jul 2016 17:44:53
Agree with most of your departures but calling Ambrose arrogant!? Really? I can't think of a less arrogant player in our squad. The whole time he's been here he's played with a smile on his face and you can tell he has loved playing for Celtic. He has given it his all, and yes many times he hasn't been good enough, but that's not for a lack of trying. He'll leave with my thanks and best wishes for the future!

Agree8 Disagree0

05 Jul 2016 17:49:23
Tim I don't think efe is arrogant, rotten but not arrogant!

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Jul 2016 18:43:37
Would agree with all those names and add Boyara.

A pity we will not likely get a great fee for SJ as just read elsewhere he could leave on a Bosman in Jan. Buy a decent midfielder plus with all the others we have then both SJ and NB can go.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2016 19:29:53
See when i see lists of players that you would all like to leave then why is brown never in them? he's the highest paid player in the squad and the player mentioned ie johansen and bitton are far better in quality. Bitton taking a lot of heat by slowing the game down brown does the same an never ever looks to pass the ball forward.

Agree2 Disagree4

05 Jul 2016 19:55:45
Mulgrew trouble maker what's he done mate?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2016 21:08:37
I stick by my Ambrose arrogant comment, because of his attitude, when he makes a mistake he never learns from it, blames others or says other players make mistakes, but he cannot take on board his failings.
As for Mulgrew and Commons they were the two most vocal against Deila, trying to turn the dressing room against Ronnie, they even tried to get young Tierney involved but he was too clever to listen to them.

Agree1 Disagree3

05 Jul 2016 21:41:46
Timmalloy Ambrose has been one of the nicest down to earth player who has ever come to play for Celtic . He has made some mistakes, no doubt but I cannot know whether he hasn't tried to learn from his mistakes . I am sure if he could cut them out of his game, he would do so . I have no doubts the fans could have helped him by cutting out the abuse roared at him which must have destroyed his confidence and led to even more mistakes.

Agree2 Disagree0

06 Jul 2016 05:05:47
Ambrose is just utter gash, pure and simple!

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2016 16:48:01
How can we supposedly receive a bid of almost £6M for Bitton but only about £1M for Johansen? I know it's a matter of opinion but for me I'd let Bitton go out of the two of them and certainly wouldn't take anything less than about £3/ 4M for SJ. He had a shocker last season as we all know but the season before he was fantastic and was POTY, you don't just lose that ability, he's still got it in his locker if he can recapture that form and fitness.

05 Jul 2016 18:10:36
There must be a decent amount of the wage bill with players away and on way out . now it's about quality not quantity .

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2016 18:21:08
That makes sense rg96 if it's the case. I thought he was given an extension after RD's first season to ward off interest from the Bundesliga, there were reports of it anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2016 18:22:11
Aye it'll be due to his final year. For me, he's more 'valuable' than Bitton. Be a bit miffed to see him go but his heart hasn't been in it. Made a scapegoat, and overly criticised last term. Seeing POTY booed off the park was a low point. But there's a heck of a player in their. I'd be on the look out for a new CM now, as shocking as that sounds given the numbers, but I think Johansen has a dynamism and versatility none of the squad can match.

Agree5 Disagree0

05 Jul 2016 18:45:55
Johansson on his day looks immense and far better suited to BT vision that Bitton.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Jul 2016 20:17:49
LM67 very well said, Effe has given his all, he always has a smile on his face on or off the park, his team mates say he is the worst dressed best company they have ever been in, that he gives his all in training and on the park, that he has never stirred trouble and never once been in anybody's face about money, terms and conditions, etc, etc, the juventus game did him in and loads of people never gave him a chance after that, if he goes, personally I think he will sit out his last year, then he also goes with my best wishes.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Jul 2016 02:20:17
SJ is captain of his country. Blew us away when he first came. Had a poor season, can you blame him with stick in dressing room aimed at RD, maybe felt more for his fellow countryman being constantly criticised justly and very unjustly. Unprofessional and affected everyone, except KT who had just broken through and didn't want to get involved as this was his opportunity, he just played for his shirt. SJ is easily the best midfielder on his day. He probably feels to much water has passed in dressing room and he can't fake he is ok with it? He would start over Brown, Bitton, Rogic who has the ability to become world class, henderson who is also showing unbelievable development, he already oozes class, skill and work rate. Allen, Christie this season will show. Macgregor whom i must admit i never fancied is aslo becoming a little find, much more consistent doesn't hide anymore. Armstrong another gem with bags of talent, seen in glimpes out if favoured role. Ajer don't know reports sound very promising time will tell. SJ would be first on BR teamsheet, he wanted him to stay, just not possible. The self serving unprofessional players who damaged the club must be shown the door. Chris Commons is the most arrogant over rated, over paid, and whatever over. player on our books. Pay him off to go now or stick him in the development squad. Its time to stick together and he is part the reason SJ is leaving. Might even start a petition about Commons?

Hi ed hope you're well. Just wondering if the live text feature will be back this season?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I'm good thanks mate. Yes the live chat will be back for the new season but if there's enough of you going to use it I'll ask Ed033 to set them up for some of the friendlies too if you want. Maybe for the ICC matches?}

05 Jul 2016 16:04:11
Just reading online there it looks as if Johansen will be away by the end of the week it makes a bit of sense seeing as he is free to speak to clubs in january to leave on a bosman at the end of the season. Probably be only a couple of million we will get as he is in the last year of his contract but at least its more money in the pot for signings.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Jul 2016 16:28:07
Not to fussed about SJ going to be honest, really went off the boil last season! On his days he's a good player but far to many off days of late, same goes with bitton! Really hope Brendans got some signings lined up by the way! Edging closer to the CL qualifiers and while I think we'll have enough for the 1st games it's only going to get harder from there! There's a few really tricky ties in that next round! Like that the manager is cutting some deadwood but I'm surprised he's not signed a couple more! I'd be stunned if he thought he could reach the CL with the players we have! Yes he's a good manager but he's not a miracle worker! I expected 2 or 3 real quality additions in by now! Happy with dembele but we need an experienced centre half in there now! Not panicking just yet lol, just hoping it's not the same old story with regards to dragging our heels over signings!

I reckon beyond all the transfer rumours etc Rodgers will appear with another signing from under everyone's noses. It is a fact that we need new centre backs before anything else! Even though i'm confident in simunovic.
