Poor selection . poor tactics . poor performance . But job done.
Gordon . done his job
Lustig . against pace he is now starting to struggle
Jozo . will get better with better partner.
Boyata . spl player
Tierney . quiet night
Forrest . in and out of it tonight. can he keep up form for Europa?
Brown . best player again
Armstrong. spl player. i don't think the boy even wants to be at Celtic. Wants to try England?
Sinclair . spl player. maybe Europa level? . but a maybe for me
Mgregor. same as forrest
Dembele . not at best tonight hampered by injuries this season . still a young boy should / Will get better. will he be here for Europa.?
Ntcham . looks great then looks average bit inconsistent at times but played well tonight . as with dembele only young boy yet .
Odds on. why ahead of griff? looks ok but without a decent run how can we tell. is he in / or should he be in long term plans?
Rogic . while looking good every other few games at spl level I think himself and griff aren't fancied trusted or thought good enough or don't fit the system wanted by br.
January. imo a centre back with top level experience is priority . do we go for a rb or see how Ralston progresses while giving lustig recovery time? Any other signing will be judged I think on outgoings whether in or outwith our control . but any that do come in i hope will be experienced seasoned professionals who are better than already here as we have more than enough prospects and squad players.

That performance was shocking, Armstrong absolutely no way near good enough this season he needs benched, as for Sinclair think he's lost a bit of confidence. we need to freshen up in January and start spending on a quality centre back and a midfielder who can spread the play. Happy to still be in Europe after Christmas but big improvements needed in January, come on Celtic loosen the purse strings and give Brendan the tools to have a go.

I've added my comments to other posts and while tonights' performance was not the best.
Top of the league.
We have the first home trophy back in the cabinet.
Still unbeaten domestically.
The best supporters anywhere. H.H.

Guys I’m not having a go here but 1 win in 12 champions league games is not good enough. Larrsson, Hartson and Sutton claim we need better players all over the park and i agree. We need proper investment or we will be lucky to go any further.

Agree3 Disagree1

05 Dec 2017 22:21:45
Undefeated domestically, 1 cup in the bag and Europa after xmas not being disillusioned here we know performances have dipped but bhoys that's some achievement and I'll take that all day long mon the hoops HH 🍀.

well said Welshbhoy, the big picture is that we have domestic domination as our first priority, BR has said this since day one, he also said CL qualification is a must in order to improve, we have improved, we have achieved EL knock out stages.
The team has been struggling for a few weeks, but for me that is normal after the amount of games we have played already. BR will be swapping and changing, i. e. Rotation to cope with a 9 game December, so onwards and upwards.

Not to sure where to begin after that performance the only positive to take from it was in the first game against them they were in disarray with no manager and gifted us 2goals but tonight was brutal to watch to many players who hide we need to forget this 67 unbeaten in domestic matches and be honest in any half decent league in Europe this group of players wouldn't get near c. l. or even Europa league in truth this is Ronnie deila's team just tweaked a little time for lawwell and Desmond to back BR this money gathering dust in the bank rubbish and the smoke and mirrors from them has gone on long enough if anyone thinks this is progress then feck it there are some dark Euro nights ahead.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

05 Dec 2017 22:25:26
CG was our best player tonight. There only appeared to be one game plan and that was not to lose 3 goals. We will not be going much further in the EL if this performance is anything to go by.
PSG and Bayern were made to look better because of our poor performance and we would have been looking at another 5+ goals drubbing if we had been playing either tonight.
The only positives I can take from tonight is Craig Gordon's performance and third place.
But, tomorrow is another day H. H.

Agree0 Disagree2

05 Dec 2017 22:39:24
The biggest positive tonight was half time when Brendan took Armstrong and Sinclair off. Both could easily been replaced after 20 mins. Big difference second half with rogic and ntcham coming on, especially ntcham who i thought was great.

Agree2 Disagree1

05 Dec 2017 22:44:17
Gordon done well but ntcham was our best player by a country mile.

Agree2 Disagree1

05 Dec 2017 22:04:36
Think I have had the same thoughts for years. We need to get a couple of quality players to drag others up a level, even if they were a couple of fading stars, can't fill a team with"potential" and hope it steps up . Need some quality old heads.

I know a lot on here disagree, but I think John McGinn is the sort of midfield player the team is lacking, Scott Brown has been a great servant for the club, but we are in danger of doing the same as The rangers have done with Miller, and keeping him in the team, just because he has been a great servant, am not criticising the effort and committment from Brown, and I think he is a great captain, but he lacks McGinns creativity, (and most importantly, McGinns youthful energy) , I realise there is a surplus of midfield players at the moment at the club, but should we just ignore someone who might be better than anything we have because he plays for hibs and is Scottish,

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2017 11:27:24
I think they could play together to be honest.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2017 16:37:09
Broony was one player who I thought played well. He us getting older and I see McGinn as his replacement, unless we spend a few bob that is. The problem with leaving him at Hibs he wil go elsewhere and shine, putting him out of our range.

I don't think we can afford to wait. Money, £3m and Henderson would clinch it. He performed well for them and I think this might swing it. McGinn will want to come to us and Lenny wouldn't stop him if he was given the chance.

Last night showed we need better players able to pass and move when you're up against better teams. They started rubbish because Anderlecht were better. They shat it and started playing like U12's again.

Second half much stronger and should have scored at least one.

Thus focuses the mind about what needs to be done. Let's hope it's just not the supporters who can see that. And seeing it us bit enough, doing something about it is required, pronto.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Dec 2017 21:58:51
On a positive not ntcham is starting to look like a real footballer who should start every week now in front on Armstrong who is looking more and more like an SPL player! Reinforcements needed in January. Right back and centre half a must. And what the hell has happened to Sinclair?

Believable5 Unbelievable1

05 Dec 2017 21:45:05
Job done but.
Only word to describe that first half was ROTTEN, to a man. If we ever want to do anything in Europe we have to improve our ball retention and passing, it was atrocious.
I'd deduct £100 from the wages anytime anyone gives the ball away in training. Couple of month in no one would get feckin near us, not even PSG 😊
Anyway, well done boys, onwards and upwards.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

05 Dec 2017 21:54:48
Terrible performance. Not one pass mark. Over £100 for 1 goal. Gutless. One win in 12 games hopeless. BR's halo is slipping.

05 Dec 2017 22:26:42
I would give CG a pass tonight but that's it.

Tinytim ntcham was very good in second half.

Left 15 min early tonite! That was a pathetic gutless performance tonite by the way! Embarrassing!

Believable3 Unbelievable2

05 Dec 2017 21:42:55
Let's forget the Dembele £30mill price tag. Take what we can get and move him on. BR clearly does not rate Griff so no idea what will happen there. On the whole we are not even a europa league team. So poor.

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Dec 2017 21:45:23
Was really poor and takes the shine in qualifying for EL away. I think we really are starting to look tired, need a boost from somewhere.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Dec 2017 22:07:54
Let’s be honest lads if Anderlecht hadn’t been in a crisis when we played them at home then we’d be dead last yet again! Rodgers says we’re learning, well I’m sorry but that just isn’t true! That was one of the worse performances I’ve seen in a long long time! I take no comfort that we’ve stumbled into the EL! Any decent side in that will pump us home and away! Remember the days Celtic Park was a fortress! Those days are long gone now!

Agree2 Disagree3

05 Dec 2017 22:17:11
You left early that's embarrassing.

Agree3 Disagree0

05 Dec 2017 22:21:18
Yes we have qualified for EL. I think despite that we have not improved at all from last year. Behind points from same amounts of games as las year in SPL. Bigger defeats, but teams change so in many ways it can't be measured. So only in my opinion, we ain't progressing.

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Dec 2017 22:30:38
That was the most spinaless performance l have seen for years. They say that they are not going to change how they play against psg and Munich but then they can kick the ball up the field from the word go. Only Gordon for me was a pass mark. The changes helped but hanni ran the show. We are no where near a champion league team. Struggle away from home and now not won a game at home in the group since 2014! Just goes to show how poor our league really is. One awful performance, thank god it's over!

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Dec 2017 22:54:23
Aye welsbhoy it’s embarrassing that I didn’t want to sit there in the cold watchn that Shoite with ma 6 year old nephew tae 90 minutes were up! Away and don’t talk pish! Dae u pay ma season book by the way? Naw well never u mind when a leave!

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Dec 2017 23:11:32
If you don't want people to mind when you leave maybe you shouldn't post about when you leave 😂😂.

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Dec 2017 23:25:28
Fair play your right it's your book you deserve to do how you please we just have differing opinions on how we see things. as book holders some go to be entertained and want value for money for their book and when things aren't as they thought they can complain and leave that's their right and some of us go to purely to back the team right to the end no matter how good or bad the performance is.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2017 00:03:30
No kev83 I’ll say exactly when I’m leaving mate but thanks for the advice! Welsbhoy totally agree that we all have differing opinions and I tip my hat to those who stayed to the death to watch what was a woeful half hearted performance! For me that was as bad a performance as we’ve had under Brendan and we can’t always fall back on what we do domestically! Yes our run has been truly magnificent and we’ve shown unbelievable consistency! But that tonite was another abject performance to add to the many we’ve had under Brendan! We’ve won 1 CL game out of 12 and none out of 6 home games, I’m sorry mate but that’s reason to complain in my book! But I apologise if I was a bit nippy with you mate, just sheer frustration that’s all. feel like we should and could do better than what we have done of late!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm just glad the CL is over for another year. I wonder where all the 'who cares about CL results as long as we're in it to get the money' posters we used to have went?
Me personally, I'd take a domestic Treble over CL Last 16 any season but the other side of the coin is the CL money keeps us light years ahead of the rest of Scottish football.
I think I might just have contradicted myself lol - **** it!}

06 Dec 2017 00:28:41
ED I’ll be honest and I’ve said it before. i don’t want us in the champions league mate! Yes the money is great but the hammerings we’re taking on a regular basis just isn’t worth it! That tonite was against a team more on our level and we failed miserably. i can take a loss mate but the way we’re losing is really tough to take! We’re either getting humped or look like a team who don’t actually believe they belong at this level! It reminded me of the gladbach game at home last year, just look like a team who lack ideas and the belief to tell themselves that they deserve to be in the competition! The team needs freshened up next month imo, there’s to many players who know theyr guaranteed a game and need competition in there! Also thought there was a lot of tired players out there to. wee Tierney runs himself into the ground for us and I’d hate the kid to get burn out! Few signings to keep players on there toes is a must!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I honestly don't let CL results get to me too much, we simply can't compete with your PSG's and Bayern Munichs but there's no excuses for a performance like tonight. I think Rodgers made a mistake not starting Ntcham instead of Armstrong and I'd have started Rogic over McGregor. It wasn't good enough but it was still an OG that decided the game, 0-0 and folk would be saying we soaked up their pressure and got the job done lol.}

06 Dec 2017 01:20:43
Was a bit unfair on you there bud your assessment of the game was bang on. Felt a bit annoyed at the end of the game when it was half empty and the team tho it wasn't a good performance they had just qualified for Europa which was the aim didn't get the credit I feel they deserved from the crowd. Think to many have this illusion that cos were Celtic we should be doing better in Europe dontbknow why fact is were never going to compete at that level so Europe after xmas is a great achievement.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2017 08:03:13
Or you could say that most of the team has played a lot of football recently, and it just caught up on them, where as Anderlecht have been focused on this match, and knew what they had to do, they had to win by three goals, their trainer had them closing their eyes for ten minutes every day, and made them repeat, we have to win by three goals, yes master we will, and every night before they went to sleep, they repeated the mantra, we will win by three goals, yes master, we will, and then. well you know how it turned out.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Dec 2017 21:36:21
I'm struggling to come up with positives from that campaign. Maybe the money but what is the use of that if it doesn't get invested in the team and yes I know how much we've spent already. I'm torn between knowing and appreciating what this team has done domestically but seeing how short the are for Europe. We need better.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

05 Dec 2017 20:36:11
Just watched the first half on tv, really subdued performance, Brown is about the only outfield player with pass marks so far, Boyata and Armstrong have been quite frankly shocking.

05 Dec 2017 20:35:09
That is as poor a Celtic performance as I've since since the arrival of BR.

Woeful and actually embarrassing bossed on our own Park by the anderlecht. not one of the powerhouses but ANDERLECHT

05 Dec 2017 21:39:41
A lot of emphasis will be put on the 'aggregate' score, however, to lose YET AGAIN in the CL (especially at home) against a team we trounced in their own midden is pretty disappointing.
We crave European football so much and people like me have plenty good memories going back five decades, but in recent years we have really struggled to match many opponents in the group stage and indeed many of the qualifying opponents are better than any domestic opponent we face week to week.
BR says we are making progress - and European football after New Year backs that up; however, we still have too many players who freeze, hide and simply can't cut it at a higher level and we really need to invest and improve as well as dominate domestically and that is what we all strive to achieve. Well done Celtic on qualifying for the Europa League - not pretty but job done.

Thinking the same, Ntcham before Armstrong for me but that team will do the business 😉🍀🍀👌🏻.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Dec 2017 19:29:15
it's certainly a team picked to win the game, with emphasis on attack and I think because we are playing with a back four, that is why BR has named Broony as the only sitting mid, although Armstrong and McGregor will have to do their share of chasing back when needed.
Anderlecht have absolutely nothing to lose; so will really have a go and hope to score early and test our bottle, but we have plenty attacking options of our own and should handle this professionally.

Well, 60,000 in the ground and everybody who watched it on tv knew both had to be replaced. In fact, they should have been hooked after 25 mins. If they were embarrassed at getting hooked so early, a view of the game up until then would show exactly the reason.

Getting worried about Sincy, he's lost his bottke and belief.

Playing in Europe in the Spring, isn't my sole priority .
I can see benefits of a decent run in Europe giving our players extra experience playing against fairly good European teams .
On the other hand we will be loaded up with two many games and our domestic form could suffer. Hopefully Rangers 2012 get the hapless and useless D McInnes who they have blatantly tapped up through the MSSM for a a month or more .
Perhaps Aberdeen could employ a decent manager this time who could run us close.

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Dec 2017 19:06:53
There is a slight downside with the Thursday-Sunday scenario which will be a new challenge for the squad; however, the chance of European football next spring will give invaluable experience to the Bhoys against perhaps more evenly matched Euro opponents?
This will give the players confidence and nous for the CL
.

Anderlecht will be up for it straight from the start and this will play into our hands. We will open them up through Forrest and Sinclair. Brendan has told them to go out and put in a good perfomance for the fans and a first home win.

05 Dec 2017 16:40:20
Really looking forward to the game, will be good to see us play a competetive game against a side more our level. Some of the results have been a kick in the nuts but hopefully tonight, we don't self destruct and restore a bit of pride. Finishing third and reaching the Europa league will be a personal target of mine (along with a league and cup double) this season. Great news Dembele is fit.

C'mon you Bhoys in green!

When I am trying to get a ticket for an away game I usually go to where the supporters buses come in, get there early and ask the people getting off the bus if they have any spare tickets. More often than not I get one.
