Hibs will be our biggest challenge this year with Hearts pushing for third the rest nowhere.

Hibs will be there abouts. Too early to say who else will do anything. Rangers will sign Lafferty so they will get stronger and Hearts weaker. Aberdeen can't hack it when the pressure is on them so we will need to wait and see. let's see what happens at tyncastle next weekend.

Watched the Rangers game last night, saw the usual hurling of objects at Aberdeen player taking a corner.

What I don't understand, why do they still chant about Engurland and Lizzie, when it was she that wanted her unpaid taxes and ended up liquidating them?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - At least they seem to have cut down on singing about the IRA.}

06 Aug 2018 03:41:29
ED, I totally agree, it's the year 2018, about time all that pish was buried.
There are morons on both sides, sadly alwaye will be, i'm thankful my 2 sons weren't exposed to it.

It’s not a party until the Rebs are sung.

Defo stephbhoy2. The chants about the pope and the ira were clear for all to hear as per usual.

Hi Ed. Not a really Celtic related post.

I just wanted to know which players you rate in Scotland out with Celtic?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - I like Stevie Mallan, Florian Kamberi and John McGinn from Hibs. Chris Cadden at Motherwell and Ziggy Gordon at Accies could play at a higher level, say for a Hearts or TRIFC but not for us. Uche Ikpeazu at Hearts looks like he could shine for them and Scott McKenna could turn out a player but for now Hendry is superior to him.}

05 Aug 2018 19:38:26
I think Cadden could be coached into another Armstrong quite easily, in fact i would be surprised if we never had a nibble next season.

05 Aug 2018 20:03:40
A thought he was more of a wide player fg.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2018 22:02:19
And there is young Cochrane at Hearts as well.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Folk from Larkhall don't count.}

05 Aug 2018 22:54:14
Now I'm not sure if folk is the right word for the breed you are referring to.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's my 'keezins' you're talking about!! I'll be telling my mam you're badmouthing her family. :-D

06 Aug 2018 08:16:16
@mally . I actually think the boy would be a revelation at full back. good engine and can tackle. Could cover our right side nicely.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2018 01:41:29
Ooft ed is your lineage from out Larkhall way? How did u manage to escape their clutches? Was it luck or intelligence? never mind I guess it was the rub of the green. 🍀.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - My mum comes from one of the biggest and most notorious Larkhall familys and when she married my dad most of them cut her off except her wee sis who's the only one I bother about, years later when they all buried the hatchet and tried to talk to me I told them to bolt.}

06 Aug 2018 20:59:13
Aye your quite right mate anyone who cuts their kids out there life is not worth the hassle, it would kill me if ma kids never spoke to me, it would never happen tho cos I wouldn't let it.

{Ed007's Note - Exactly, Steph. (yes)

Edg aye after one game.
Aberdeen have absolutely no teeth or back bone.
When there is nothing to play for like mid week when they were expected to get a doing they were great but minute the have a chance they fold.
The Rangers look like a run of the mill hard working team but that's it.
If hibs can add consistenty to there game they will romp 2nd place.

Agree2 Disagree1

05 Aug 2018 18:28:23
Agree but Rangers look better than Aberdeen.

05 Aug 2018 18:41:38
Did you watch the huns game kev.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2018 18:54:18
Aye and I managed to see some of the hibs game tae. I watch any Spfl game. Prefer that to the epl pish.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Hibs will be the team to beat for 2nd place this year going by that garbage served up at Pittodrie.}

05 Aug 2018 20:31:33
Rangers are certainties to finish second. Hibs won’t be anywhere near as good once we sign McGinn. Losing their best players every season will finally take its toll on Aberdeen I think. As long as we finish first who cares anyway.

Agree1 Disagree1

05 Aug 2018 21:04:57
Aye am not a fan of EPL mate. Iv had the usual texts from the oxygen thieves that support them telling me how great they were but Aberdeen were rotten for the spell I saw. The 3 in middle of the Rangers midfield will be happy to try kick us off the park.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2018 09:06:01
Kev83 I hope you are right. I think though after one game it’s too early to say. I still think you could pick one out of four teams to finish behind us in second.

Put a question out there to more knowledgeable fans than me. Would billy bremner managed a game for the lisbon lions, Was a tim at heart.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Aug 2018 16:04:22
He would have played against some of the lions in the European cup semi final in 1970. I think his dad would not let him join us.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2018 17:14:28
Are you asking would Bremner have got a game for the Lisbon Lions?

If that is your question then you need to consider Bremner's position which was Right Half (right centre midfield) or Outside Right (right winger) .

Bobby Murdoch player Right Half and Jimmy Johnstone played Outside Right.

As I never saw any of these players play, then I don't see myself as being qualified to answer that. Perhaps someone who say the lions and Bremner play could.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2018 01:45:12
If what ged says is true and he let his da stop him, then naw he wouldn't have cut it with us cos he would've crumbled under the pressure of playing against 12 men on a Saturday.

Any info on ntcham? It looked to be more serious than cramp?

The boy is looking a real gem . An injury lay off at such a vital time ( cl qualifiers ) would be a real blow. Heard on the radio that while the players came back on the pitch after the game to applaud, ntcham went straight up the tunnel 😔

Also French eddy appeared to be hobbling as he came back on the pitch .

Dont think N'tcham will make Wednesday. Looks a sore one, bruising on ankle at best.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2018 10:55:22
So Ntcham is a big doubt for Wednesday night. If only there was a midfielder to slot in and replace him, after being here for a few weeks after moving from another Scottish team, and now settled into the squad . . .

So its either Koussi who Rodgers clearly doesn’t fancy and offers little going forward, or McGregor dropping back from the attacking positions that he’s being playing so well in.

Smashing.

05 Aug 2018 12:07:33
Fair point, LM, well put.

I do think either Kouassi slotting in (he shows some of the qualities of Ntcham) , or McGregor playing further back with Rogic starting, are pretty reasonable options however. I wonder if Allen or Christie might come into things too if Ntcham's creativity and passing are something we want to duplicate (as far as possible) . I also wonder if Ajer ever trains in his former midfield role. Biton is injured, right? Anyway, there are many attractive permutations.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2018 12:28:13
It re-enforces the point that we have plenty of quality when all of the first team are fit, but when we invariably pick up three or four injuries - or absences, we struggle to replace important players, as too many of the current squad are not CL standard.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2018 15:17:46
Cavalcanti. What ate the attractive permutations? We are short in thst position. If Brown or N"tcham are injured we are light. We have a strong 23 man squad. After that we ate struggling.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2018 18:56:03
Should have written strong 13 man squad not 23.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Aug 2018 01:49:23
Oab any team would struggle with the injuries we have cos anyone they bring in would be short of match fitness. We can't have a full squad at first team level cos they wouldn't be happy warming the bench in the spl.

Morning Guys, does anybody have an idea the length of Patrick Roberts contract at Manchester City. would love to see him back at the hoops on his day he is an outstanding talent.

I’m sure it’s been mentioned on here his contract with city is until 2020.

05 Aug 2018 15:34:06
Unfortunately I think that 'wish' has to be put to bed, as although there is no doubting his talent and flair, he decided his future was elsewhere and we have made alternative arrangements, with Morgan, the Australian winger we may bring in; Mikey Johnston and Christie, who can also be considered candidates for wide places.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2018 18:59:55
I wouldn't pay £12mill for Paddy. Seemingly that was the figure Leicester were offering. i think we are ok with Morgan and whilst the Australian may not make it this season he may be a solution next season. If we could get Paddy for £6 or £7mill then its worth a shout but not £12mill.

05 Aug 2018 08:34:46
Ok a win, but far from flawless. Pluses for me were we do seem to move the ball quicker and have tinkered with the front four slightly. Another lift was Rogic who looked strong and sharp, jeeze feet like a Ballerina that boy.

I would like to think though we played in the lower gears, more so with the early goal, and that's right given the week we have ahead. Midweek will be tough, followed by maybe the worst time to visit swinecastle given their result, so we had good reason to conserve energy.

These next two games, high pressure given the season has just started, will tell us a lot about this team, and maybe the weakness as well.

Big tam! What can u say, 3 clicks of his boots and 4 livi players were sent to Kansas 🤣 truly is the wizard of oz . He looked hungry and up for it . Apart from losing a goal, my only negative was Mikey Johnston's decision making . Thought he could have shot first time when played through and got in griffs way a few times . But through first team games I expect him to come on leaps and bounds with experience.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2018 12:32:34
My only 'complaint' if you can call it that after such a dominant performance, was the lack of proper reward with more goals.
I suppose it's early doors and the sharpness will come, but that was by far the easiest season opener I can remember for a while and 3-1 (like the home game against Rosenberg) didn't reflect the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2018 14:50:09
Fgj its the same team as last year, we already know what they are all about lol. I can see us putting 3 or 4 past Athens and Tynecastle will be a stroll 👍.
