Who do you think was the best CFC double act up front?

In my memory certainly

Sutton Larson

And who ( if you could manipulate " time " would you have if you could hand pick a pairing )

IE

Larson cadete
PVhD and Larson
Ciftci biggins etc.

What does anyone think about a bid for Adam Rooney can score a goal and had a good physical presence. In a better team like Celtic I think he would thrive.

04 Jun 2016 15:17:58
He has found his level, flopped in the lower leagues of England.

There ain't one player in the SPL that gets on our sub bench never mind the first team

Let's set our sights higher.

04 Jun 2016 15:44:38
I agree, no one from the SPL what about Mc Ginn from Hibs?

Agree2 Disagree3

04 Jun 2016 16:30:08
Old bhoy

He is like a young Phil odonell but IMVHO actually better

I rate McGinn very very highly

He will be in EPL like McCarthy in 2 years in my view

Great shout.

Why do we let players like mc carthy slip thru the net so often. I'd hate to miss out on mc ginn then see him in the epl. Look at mc carthy down there, God knows what he's worth now n we had the chance to get him first for what a million? I'd say wed get mc ginn for less than a million if we done it this year, wait till next year n he'll be heading south.

Think Rooney would improve our squad to be honest.
Would rather him than ciftci.
Would he handle the step up?
No one knows but guys like wee mcdonald and Griffiths have but then plenty haven't.
Was always taught to judge players playing in scotland on how thwy preform against celtic.
Hartley
Robson
McDonald always played well against us.
Rooney seems to cause us problems every time we play the sheep.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jun 2016 19:33:36
Kev that's quite true what you say about them causing us problems so maybe worth a punt, no actually because we need to them to able to pull their weight against European competition. Celtic need a full 11 of players who can compete in Europe so for me that's the reason why Rooney is no use. As is most other Scottish talent; not all though, there are a few shinning lights but sadly few and far between and we already have one of them in Tierney.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jun 2016 19:53:01
Kev I think the issue is that he went from ICT down south and was a shadow of himself and then headed back up north. For many this makes him a likely SPFL journeyman and not therefore good enough for CFC

At least that's my reading of the situation.

Agree0 Disagree0

The striker position is probably one of the most difficult positions on the team to fill. We know for whatever reason we have got it wrong at least five times for every once we got it right. I doubt if Rooney is likely to be an answer for us . The R O I have problems in their squads for a striker and have decided against Rooney and opted for D Murphy . Now MO 'N knew his strikers particularly when he managed Celtic and if he rates D Murphy ahead of Rooney, I won't disagree with him.

Agree1 Disagree4

04 Jun 2016 20:12:24
Perdocelt if you judge him like that I take it you wouldn't have sighed
Barry Robson fae Dundee United
Paul hartley fae hearts
Scott McDonald fae motherwell?
Celtic always make European player and have very rarely sighed them.
Even the team that went to seville was full of playerseason that hadn't really played in Europe before celtic.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jun 2016 20:19:28
Rooney has caused problems but think that's more down to our poor defence
Ciftci Berget flood cause problems but couldn't make the step up when given the chance
I like McGinn but think Henderson is a better player I'd only take McGinn if it meant getting rid of other fringe players
I like shinnie and thought he could have been a good signing but the emergence of kt puts that to bed.

Can't agree with Mcginn. He is playing at a low level and till he proves himself in the top league in Scotland at least then should be no where near our squad.

Old Bhoy D Murphy is playing very well and scoring a good amount of goes at the moment for Ipswich is he not?
Sometimes it just doesn't work out for a player at a club then when they move on something clicks for them.

I never think that it only the player himself who deserves all the credit when he does well.
I don't think that it is necessary the player who deserves all the blame, if he is having a bad season . A player often needs players playing around him utilising his strengths to get the best out of him . That's often why scouts watch players countless number of times trying to ascertain whether the player will fit into their set-up or not We have often signed big strikers and got nothing in return.

How many signings do people see us making in the summer and in what areas? I was initially thinking 6 or 7 but I think we may only see 3 or 4.

A defender. Joe Gomez would be ideal. Can play cb, rb and lb so would provide fantastic cover and mean we could spend the money in areas where its needed most.

A central midfielder. A Joe Allen type although I doubt it will be him. Someone who is neat and tidy and keeps ticking over in the middle of the park.

A left winger. Someone who can do on the left what roberts has done on the right. We all know who we want but that probably won't happen now Ronny has left. Any other suggestions?

A striker. Someone who is the opposite of griffiths and will provide the perfect foil for him as well as chipping in with 15-20 goals. Have you heard anything about us being after Obbi Oullare Ed?

We've got lustig janko fisher ralston tierney izzyy Shevvy Jozo boyata mulgrew oconnell mcart kellahar so why the clammer for gomez? ? Allen isn't better than we have and olure he's done nothing . as for lw get young miller playing.

Fishers contract not run out?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jun 2016 15:15:14
Our first choice back 4 is strong but the strength in depth isn't there. Gomez would mean all defensive positions are well covered. I'm all for giving youngsters like Miller a chance but if we want to get into the Champions League we still need to sign a few quality players. If he was good enough already he'd have been playing last season like Tierney.

04 Jun 2016 15:52:03
As L Griffiths is a goal-scorer and surely we need someone to back him up, I would suggest we get a similar type goal score with ambitions of him scoring in excess of 30 goals . Goalscorers signed on the basis of aiming for 20+ goals in the season are probably plentiful but are likely if persevered with to score actually 10 if we are lucky. The day has to be over that we are going to accept mediocrity because if we buy out of that pool we are not moving forward.

Agree0 Disagree2

04 Jun 2016 16:30:05
Lm. is gomez going to get us cl on a 6 month contract . do you want him as he is with an epl club? (. on miller we've seem how tierney has come on .12 month ago would you have said if he wasn't in the team he wasnt good enough? they can't show if they . don't get picked. we have to be more progressive with the youth and get them involved in spl to see what they can do.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jun 2016 16:40:45
I want him because he is a good player who can improve our squad. Plus his versatility would mean we wouldn't need to spend money on left and right backs and can use that money to improve other areas. Miller should get a chance off the bench and against lesser teams like Tierney did, if he impresses enough to earn a starting spot then fair play. In the meantime, we need to buy a left winger.

In my opinion Allan is better than what we have good passer if ball and very tidy, would b a great signing.

I have said before 6 month contract is no use to celtic and only benefits Liverpool.
He may be a good player but he comes up here does well gets fit and becomes a regular in first team then we lose him halfway through the season.
Meaning next guy has to build all the understanding with the rest of the defence.
Pointless

Not looking for argument lm 67. . but why is a Liverpool reserve good enough for us and not our own reserves. given you saying re miller if he's good enough he would be playing?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jun 2016 20:39:15
He's not a Liverpool reserve. He was outstanding for them at the start of the season before he got injured. He could be another Denayer. But as stated by others a 6 month deal is no use so hopefully we could get him for a year.
