Do you think we might make a move for nial mcginn in January ed as cover in the wide positions, now that Roberts is out for 3 months, I think it would make sense for us and the player to get him on a short time deal till the summer .

It would make sense for absolutely nobody.

I take it that's a no then lol 😁 , I just think we are short in the wide position if Sinclair or Forrest get injured and I'm not sure Hayes can cut it, also January might not be the best time to spend money on this position if we harbour hopes of signing Roberts permanently in the summer .

If Hayes can perform like he did on Saturday we have backup more than capable. His service was excellent on Saturday but what impressed me was the effort he made to track back and his strength in tackles to win the ball back. He's had a difficult start to his Celtic career, like many players before him. What he needs is encouragement and backing from the stands when he has the ball.

Anyone watch the Blackburn v Crewe game? (can catch on BBC sports)

In the game there is a penalty incident similar to Sinclair's in the cup final.

The ref gave the penalty and red card by the way.

Anyway, the point I am trying to make is anyone who did not think it was a penalty and sending off in the final does not know the "Laws of the Game".

Not having a dig at you r. a. w. but who cares what our detractors think . cup is won on to the next trophy . hopefully with another "controversial " pen or two.

Agree2 Disagree0

05 Dec 2017 04:11:58
The point is if Sinclair stays in his feet its a penalty/ foul regardless the defenders pulling his arm back. However if he doesn't go down no penalty is given.

Imo don't listen to the rags and the provymob. They need something to moan at because we're just to good.

Agree0 Disagree1

05 Dec 2017 17:41:25
Think the red card was because he played the man with no effort to play the ball, so it should be a red card whether Sinclair stays on his feet or not, but my point is, if Sinclair can stay on his feet, why doesn't he stay on his feet and try and score, in a perfect world, Sinclair would score and Kipre would still get sent off, and if Sinclair doesn't score, the ref can bring it back and give a free kick, with Kipre still sent off.

Looking at the CL groups there are a whole load of tidy teams potential/ definitely dropping into the new year Europa 32. With a lot of great teams already there, looks like the remainder of that competition could be pretty entertaining. Would
Also say we will have our work cut out and require strengthening.

no rubbish sherlockbhoy

defence needs an overhaul, cover in all positions and GK, another solid striker, but we'll probably get 8 midfielders.

BobTheCat has this morning ruled himself out of the laughing stock charade to become the next manager of The Rangers Sevco-Newco International 2012 Football Club.
Speaking from his kitchen table at 8am whilst trying to eat some porridge TheCat stated, "I want to make it quite clear to all media outlets that I am not, and never have beeen, interested in this vacancy. Making a career move is normally decided when you think that the move will enhance your reputation down the pub on a Saturday night and I feel strongly that if I took this path then not only would it destroy my reputation in the pub it would also mean that I wasn't even allowed into the pub again. Anyone who knows me knows that I can't live without the pub so it's a no-brainer for me. I'm sorely tempted to take up the offer of managing our pub team's side though, they're a right bunch of lads and when they get humped by 4 or 5 they usually don't mind too much. Whoever decided to take the poisoned chalice of Sevco-Newco can do so with my best wishes because by feck they're going to need someone to wish them well. "
END OF STATEMENT.

Seen on one of Skys websites that we have supposedly made a move for Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden. Can't see it to be honest. My post is about the loan system in general. I dislike it to the hilt for various reasons. Take wee Paddy last season played great fans loved him but I couldn't get over excited because realistically he will end up elsewhere. Same would apply to Foden. Unless there is a written agreement and a realistic fee set in don't think we should entertain these deals. Brendan is doing a superb job bringing young bhoys through like young Ralston . Calvin Miller Michael johnstone etc. I appreciate guys like Ajer might benefit from playing more regular football but would he not be better here learning from experienced professionals and at a club with fantastic training facilities? If he's deemed good enough to step in against the likes of Motherwell then he could handle anything in a league that we will win by some margin. Saying that if Barcelona want to lend us Messi for a few months then I think the loan systems brilliant 😀 Hail Hail bhoys ☘.

There will be some very good players at English clubs looking to get a loan move in January to try and cement there world cup places , guys like giroud, mitrovic, Wiltshire and plenty more like them.

Would rather we had taken a chance on liam lindsay from patrick last season . id also take a chance on mark o hara. big lump of a boy and anytime I've seen him he's impressed. the rumour of signing his team mate at Dundee (boys name has escaped me) is still doing the rounds.

Unfortunately it is a very widespread problem/ situation because huge clubs compete all over the globe for the very best potential talent available and want to snap them up before a rival gets in.
It causes a huge surplus of young starlets vying for the slightest opportunity and when it doesn't seem likely at the parent club, then farming them out is the next best option. I remember Celtic doing the same thing in the 60's with Jinky to get him toughened-up and used to competitive games - and it obviously worked; so it's a 2 way street.
We still do it ourselves with young lads and although it may have the drawbacks mentioned above it obviously serves a purpose.

DRB the boy Lindsay you might just get away with but you're credibility went right out the window with O'Hara. Exactly which one of our squad players place would he take. Dear oh dear 🙈.

I just read that the last teenager to score a hattrick for us was Brian Mcclaire is that true?

04 Dec 2017 11:41:33
I think i recall Mark Burchill scoring a Hat-trick for us Kev although I don't know what age he would have been.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Dec 2017 11:58:50
Burchill scored one of the fastest hattricks ever in a European match 4 minutes I think it was, no sure if he was a teenager tho. Maloney must be a shout for a hattrick as a teenager.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2017 12:15:29
Think Burchill was 20 or 21 bhoys he was born 1980 and I think the euro game was 2000 / 2001? ☘.

04 Dec 2017 13:00:48
Wasn't mclair 20 or 21 when he signed for us? What I do know is that jimmy mgrory scored 55/ 56 hatricks (including a double hat trick in a game is that one or two? )

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2017 14:10:45
Drb he was born in December 63 and signed for us July 83 so was still 19 when he scored 4 goals for us in the September of that year .

Charlie Nicholas maybe?

If McClair that's pretty astonishing Kev. Would have thought guys like Creaney, Donnelly, Burchill and Maloney etc would have done it. Was thinking that young lad Atajic who looked promising had done it but possibly a cup game. Well done big Edouard.

John Hughes scored a few hatricks as a teenager in the early 60s. 🍀🍀🍀.

Waited up to watch the highlights on Sportscene and was very impressed with Ajer, Ntcham, Hayes and obviously Edouard; who were given superb service and support from the likes of KT, Broony and the 'new improved' James Forrest when he came on.
I have been a critic of JF (especially in the Deila reign) ; but during the past two campaigns, he has made and scored so many important goals and is currently in great form - long may it last.
One thing that didn't come across in the highlights was the amount of bad tackles and challenges from the away side - some of which went unpunished by the specsaver guy.
