Ed any info on what happened with Boyata towards the end of the window? Did interest dry up, did he accept he was staying but will leave next summer or is there a chance he now wants to stay long term?

I think the past few weeks have shown how important the big man is. I have no doubt that if he’d played in the CL qualifiers we’d be in with the big boys again.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I don't know the ins and outs of it but basically Brendan Rodgers told Boyata that he wouldn't be allowed to leave during this window. There was some rumours going about that Boyata was changing his agent which if true would make me wonder what part his agent played in the recent mess, especially after what Rodgers said about him just turning up at Lennoxtown.
I'd offer him a 5 year deal with a pay rise and a buy-out clause in the £10 - 15 million bracket - with the prices in England just going to continue rising and Kompany's international career coming to an end we'd easily get that if we were getting at least £9 million for him this summer.}

03 Sep 2018 22:42:55
Yeah I definitely think his agent had a lot to do with the mess. Determined for him to go for big money so he got a hefty fee in the process.

That’s a good idea. Are release clauses common for us? Anyone got one that you know of?

I just hope he stays. The games we played without him were a glimpse into our future if he leaves next summer and isn’t replaced with proven quality.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't know of any players that have but clubs tend to keep them quiet unlike Spain where they need to register them.}

03 Sep 2018 22:43:23
I think some of it goes down to the apparent actions of the player claiming injury when there wasn’t and the gung ho actions of the agent. I think any interested clubs didn’t want that type of behaviour at their clubs and Dedryck s actions and his agent scared them off? Be interesting to see who our number one pairing will be. I so enjoyed Sunday’s game maybe only 1 goal but a pummelling all the same, clammed a few newbies up facebooks been a bit quieter today 🙂🍀⚽️.

Looking forward to seeing Benkovic but hope it doesn’t hamper Ajer’s development. He plays very well beside Boyata.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Sep 2018 00:36:06
I think the Moussa situation will not bode well for the future. Not that I blame the club in any way. The way I look at it if you don’t want to be here, don’t let the door hit your arse on the way out. But know players will know if the stamp their feet loud enough they will get their way. There’s no doubt big Boyata was flawless yesterday but my personal opinion still remains he should never have been given the opportunity to pull on our shirt again and that won't change. After the Dembele situation I wonder if he regrets accepting BR’s decision that he want being sold in the window? We’ll never know.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It really doesn't work like that, Real Madrid wanted to sign Hazard and his reps met them a few times because he fancied it so how did Thibaut Courtois force a move and Hazard didn't?
Doesn't getting 22 million Euros for an unhappy player in Dembble, players like Wanyama, Van Dijk, £7 million for Armstrong etc, back to back trebles, winning trophies, working under Brendan Rodgers, watching KT, Ajer, Edouard and Ntcham etc develop, players like Rogic and KT signing new deals, LG due to sign on too and yes even the money in the bank and balance sheet bode us better for the future rather than a player that acted like a petulant child's ripple effect through the Club?
And maybe what's happened also sends out a signal that you don't want to cross the manager and tell lies about him while trying to work your ticket - if Dembele hadn't admitted lying to Rodgers he would still be a Celtic player.
Rodgers has sent out a message to players with both the Boyata and Dembele situations, he decides when you leave Celtic and when you do it will be on the Club's terms.}

When are the papers going to give it a rest over Jack fouling Rogic?

No mention of the stamp on Lustig, kick out at Ajar the penalty we should have had with the shirt pull on Ajar.

Funny that Sevco have signed a player more than 6 times older than their club! 🤣.

{Ed007's Note - McAuley's older than their manager 😂😂😂

03 Sep 2018 23:44:40
felt it was a foul on Rogic having watched it a few times Rogic`s eyes are on the ball whereas jack`s not aware of where the ball is and just jumps into Rogic the 4th official agrees with me cause he`s yelling "foul, foul, foul" in his mic GOLUM agrees but allows play to continue I think it`s`called advantage rule.

Slippy and his band of sychophants basing this one decision (which in my opinion, was the correct one) on their total and absolute failure to keep up with a team far superior to them. We battered them, all over the pitch and they can't see that. The bleating and blindness shown by a Sevco infused media is clear to see and It's embarrassing! If you want to go into the gash refereeing decisions let's call out Collum's complete inability to send off the beast who is a nasty, dirty player. Morelos, the huffy buffalo spent the whole 90 minutes charging around, committing foul after foul without as much as a word from the ref.
Collum again has proven he is not a suitable referee for a game of this magnitude. He's garbage, end of.
As for Slippy, his time with the Orcs will run out soon enough. I can't see him putting up with the abuse he will inevitably receive once they realise that he and his team are not any better than the dreck they've been watching for the last 6 years of their existence.

They're out in force with this phantom foul nonsense and now elbows is trying to talk McGregor out of being cited too! This is why they're all in the media to try persuade people's judgement to benefit their own club.

He’s as thick as the sauce in the neck of a bottle. I don’t know why anybody even mentions him or what he says. If he did say that to someone with a better command of the nanguage to write, them he’s even less intelligent than I thought. And I think he’s fecking dense.

03 Sep 2018 21:10:55
The previous manager was allowed to release a bunch of players and I would suggest he knew he was leaving. That was unfair on any incoming manager.
However, watching Stubb's post match interview, he looked totally lost of any ideas or even say anything to give supporters hope for the future.
Then again, he did not last very long in his previous job either.
The grass is NOT always greener.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Sep 2018 21:54:25
I really wonder what these clubs think they are going to achieve. Sacking the manager right at the start of a rebuild job. Now another guy has to come in manage to drag them to January before he can get his own players, which they probably can't afford now. Mental.

There should be a transfer window for managers as well.
You can only get rib during those windows.

But your point did get me thinking.
I would definitely talk to Steven Caulker now.
I know that would give us about 6 CBs but the big Germain is non existent and we could lose 3 CBs in the summer or worse case scenario in January.

And he also said that it was more a foul on Rogic for our goal than a foul for them Strange how the kick the blatant penalty claim as a result of the kick has not been Highlighted and for the SFA are not to bring McGregor to task for the incident.

Had the privilege to be at Parkhead yesterday and to see their loyal followers locked in to watch our lap of honour while listening to Beautiful Sunday. It all got too much for the follow followers I'm afraid. I just saw photograph of Celtic players at the end well Broon, KT and Griffiths. It's a long time since I saw Celtic as pumped up as yesterday. Praise must go to the manager as he didn't half get their heads right despite not a great build up in days before. Sadly, a young lad of 19 walked out of the supporters club in London Road and was attacked and his injuries are so bad it's being treated as attempted murder. The reason I'm mentioning it is I'd urge the club to refuse the reduced ticket allocation for Ibrox as it can't be Policed plus the Blue Order will take their seats in the Broomloan Road stand where we usually are. If the club doesn't refuse allocation I'd strongly suggest the fans don't go. Urinated on from the business section above during the game and high possibility of being attacked after it isn't worth it. They were barely kept in their end by the Police yesterday. Somebody could lose their life in Govan. Just a parent sharing my concerns and fears for the young team. Not worth it. ☘️.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - From what's been reported there's nothing to suggest that stabbing had anything to do with the football and if it was it happened at 5 pm, over three hours after the game. The whole story is a but sketchy but it was probably a local neighbourhood barney, I'm not sure where Templeton Street is, I thought that would have been near that Templeton Business building if that's still there.}

03 Sep 2018 18:40:52
Agrred Ed no direct link to football made. But main point is I’ve never seen that mob much angrier than they were yesterday and they’ll be worse when the wheels fall off the Stevie G String bus which they will. I personally wouldn’t take a ticket for the 29 December 2018 if it was free and would be even more concerned if my laddie gets one. 👍.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I said at the time that it was a stupid decision to cut ticket allocations and that I was surprised Police Scotland and GCC allowed it - TRIFC had previously told their own fans their safety certificate relied on giving Celtic the entire Free Broomloan so I assumed Celtic's would be the same - I did say that it would be better to just have home fans only if they were going to cut them.
As for their fans behaviour yesterday, didn't you watch the Hibs v TRIFC 2016 Scottish Cup Final? I'll take a wild guess that there'll be a few Celtic fans will rise to the bait and make an ar$e of themselves on the 29th December, it's swings and roundabouts.
I wouldn't take a ticket now but 15 years ago I'd be pulling in favours from all over to be in there come December.}

Like you JFP I urge all our fans not to attend the game at Ibrox. I posted a few months ago that it’s almost impossible to keep the fans apart going to and from their ground.
You just have to look at the last few games at Ibrox we’ve had a Sevco fan getting onto the park trying to attack Scott Brown, not to mention Batteries and coins thrown at our players.
Can you imagine what another home defeat would do to their fans. I know many fans won’t agree but it’s only my opinion. At the end of the day I just want our fans to be safe.

Hello fellow Tims,
Due to the last minute loss of Dembele it got me thinking that there must be some half decent centre forward/ strikers out there without a club. I was quite surprised how easy it was to find this info and think that Celtic should be looking at getting someone in. The list includes Darren Bent, Guiseppe Rossi, Victor Anichebe, Federico Macheda and my personal favourite Emmanuel Emenike, now I know they won't be everyones cup of tea but surely we must sign another striker who is different to what we have at the moment and who may be able to change a game if we are behind. I can remember Emenike playing against us a couple of times and causing all sorts of problems with his power, strength and physicality. What do you think? Do we need to take advantage of out of contract players to help until Januaryat least? A. S. HH COYBIG.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

03 Sep 2018 19:17:38
Emenike was he not 1 of the players that they doubted his age and he was a lot older than claimed? There’s a reason these guys are unattached not saying we shouldn’t be looking but would be great if we could have promoted from within.

After a month or so of being told we were in trouble, and the sevco were coming, it appears these reports were somewhat askew. Yesterday they chased shadows all over the pitch, it was a big a humping as any recent slaughter, and seemed to be unable to change the flow of the game. Youth team coaches sometimes struggle with this stuff.

But it's really about us. I use the collective for a reason, yesterday was the most electric and up for it we have been since the last dismantling of sevco, this was a real pulling together of the whole club. You could clearly see this result meant plenty, BR was beaming after it on the pitch, but it had nothing to do with our opponents. This was a GIRUY to various people and agencies, and a display that was coming.

Far to much going on to post about, but one thing is clear here. Despite what various pundits will say, and sevco players, we were miles away from them yesterday. They are drawing comfort from it was only one nil. Seriously. Almost as if the woodwork and mcgregor, what a piece of work he is, never happened.

We needed attitude and concentration. power and guile. These players gave us it all, and then some, in a difficult period for our club. After the battles they have won before they now deserve our respect and support for the way they went about their business.

Glasgow is still Green and White .

The signs were there last Thursday that our play was getting back to something like what we are capable of, but you are spot on GJ.
The Boss has not looked happy in himself these past few weeks and has had to keep a lot bottled up - although we knew he was disappointed in the Boards role during the window.
On top of that he had two unsettled players, a CL exit and the constant sniping and probing of the Hun-Press and even the pressure of disgruntled supporters with the way the club was being run.
Yesterday was not only a statement of intent for all to see, but confirmation that the harmony, confidence and hunger is back.

Bang on fgj. The last month has been the worst display of anti Celtic propaganda I can ever remember. It wasn’t just in the MSM, social media was awash with it as well. It’s difficult to work out whether some of it was coming from sevconians in disguise or genuine Tim’s influenced by the sheer volume of pish already being peddled. How a 6 year old club with the best part of £20 million in shareholder loans, a legal process against them for non compliance with a takeover panel ruling, an investigation into falsehoods in an application for a UEFA licence and a rookie under 18s manager can go into a game with a club who have just completed back to back trebles and just broken their record for incoming and outgoing signings, as the club with the momentum is, and always will be, beyond me. But that would now appear to have been a load of pish.

Now that the dust has settled and normal service resumed, viz a viz, our usual hunskelping, thoughts must now focus on the January and Summer transfer windows.
Reading ED007 below saying the bigger teams plan transfers years in advance, it is a salutary lesson to Lawwell how to handle transfer deals. He MUST bring his A game to bear when going after Rodger's transfer targets. Because it is also obvious Nicham and Boyata will probably leave by end of this season if not in January. I hope Celtic offer both improved deals, to give them both a decent pay rise with the promise of a big money move IF the terms are right.
Celtic need reinforcements, permanent ones, not loans, and good quality ones at that.
Until January, at the earliest, we will have to go with the players we have, the plus side being, Boyata, Ajer and Berkovic give us decent options at CB. Our midfield is good and Mulumba improves it further. and up front while Dembele will be big loss in terms of his goals, a fully fit Eduoard and Griffiths aided by young Christie (even for domestic games only) should be sufficient for the heavy Europa League programme. Add the boy Arzani, Morgan for more cover.
So in summation, we need to learn from mistakes made in August, strenghten in January and kick on in the meantime to our Treble treble.

January is notoriously hard toget the players you want in Tim but there will be forward planning we could end up needing quite a few players in the summer.

Before we bring players in, we obviously need to have a clear-out
- with brutal honesty and no sentiment - of players who have hung around the squad for long enough, without showing enough real potential, progress or improvement.
We all want every players who signs for our club to be a success, but it's clear BR has a trusted first team squad of maybe 16/ 17 and then there are others, who have been drifting in and out for a while, or have went down-hill. With others that are frequently loaned to other clubs - all very rarely asked to play in must-win/ important games and picking up wages for minimum contribution.
We all agree about one thing, we were a shambles in the last window and that can never be allowed to happen again and the people who are in charge of scouting, recruitment and attracting players need to get it right or get out.

Celtic's top people need to sit down and discuss fully what goes well in Celtic's transfer dealings and what needs to improve . We need to decide how we can make massive improvements in the area that needs improvement . We need to redefine our KPI's in this area and whose responsibility to reach these Key Performance Indicators and those responsible need to be held to account .
We don't know how we approach the transfer windows and we don't need to know . What we do need is better transfer windows, with target positions filled by players who will improve us.

The only way they were going to win yesterday was if our team bottled it. I have watched their overhyped piss, led by Sevco fans in the press willing them to put us to the sword. They have got better than last year, but as I pointed out to my big Sevco pal many times, I could have got a game for last years team.

I have watched them closely and they are nowhere near our level. Our less than fantastic close season gave them renewed hope that a couple of wheels came AGF our bogey, they did in relation to making the CL, but not to the extent they were now better than us. I thought we would do them 4.0 and we should have. We pissed all over them. They had nothing, absolutely nothing.

The amount of times Gollum let their players off with their dirty Sevco bar steward hacking was criminal. Broom was booked for feck all, Eddy was booked for feck all. McGacjer should have been off, yet they moan about a 50/ 50 as if that was all that seperated us?

Deluded.

We stood up. We took them on and we slapped them down. It was a joy to watch. I actually love it that they have hope, they go over the top and all actually thought they would beat us. That increases the pain and this morning the have woke up to the excruciating painful reality that they are still miles behind us. That makes me so happy.

We have Benkovic to come in to make our defence even better, we have the young Morgan and Arzani to come in who I honestly believe will make an impact. Malumbu is also a player who provides cover and will give Ntcham and Broon a rest when needed.

The recent turmoil was their best hope. Like all of their hopes they are not based in reality. Slapped purple yesterday and they know it.

Boyata was brilliant yesterday as was Ntcham. We need to be aware that both might be leaving next year and the club need to plan for this in January. I would offer both new extended contracts now and if they don’t sign prépare to replace them in January. We cannot afford a repeat of the window we have endured. we sort that out and reach the CL next year we will be reaching 55 before they do, never mind 10iar.

Well done to all of our players and manager. Good luck to those who have come in. Push on now and show everyone who the top dogs are and we can sit back and laugh our stars off as Sevconia implodes as it surely will.

Trebles all round this year again. Then on to the CL riches that will ensure the nightmare for Sevco is a constant fact of life. Since EBT cheat Murray goaded us i have waited for the day we crush them into dust. Minds in the board need to be focussed on delivering that through Rogers. If they take stock of the failure of their approach this close season we will take the steps that put us out of sight. They must.

COYBIG.

Just like the rest of his rubbish team. Outclassed. Outfought, outthought and outplayed.

Dummy spat and blamed the ref for allowing Celtic to win.
I am sure he must have swatted up on several back issues of Roy of the Rovers and then had his dream shattered when the players HE had did not perform the way his imagination thought they would.
Very poor loser but, if nothing else, showed that he had the class to match the accepted and expected standards of being connected to sevco.

The guy is just there to conduct the choir and fire-up the gullibles playing the 'everyone's against us' card in the blame-game.
The gulf in class, ability, skill and confidence was there for all to see and the only thing that was misleading was the scoreline.
To highlight the Rogic 'foul', while ignoring the red card offence from his goalie, the impotency of his forwards, and the match stats in every aspect of the game, just proves he's a snake-oil peddlar.
All this may I add to deflect from one of poorest starts to a season by TRIFC 2012 - five points from four games, but the person Media will not want to address that or question their latest Messiah.

{Ed007's Note - Poor advice again imo, Andy. The majority of footballers aren't exactly blessed with much what we'd call intelligence, especially these days when they're handed everything on a plate from any age and hence trust these people to look after them, then in a lot of cases the agents/family etc realise they make more money from transfers than renewing contracts and their own personal greed takes over the whole situation.
Since I started doing this about 7 or 8 years ago my eyes have been really opened talking to people like Ed001 and Ed002 and it was murky back then btw but it has progressively got worse over that time but a lot of people refuse to accept it and still think deals are done on a 5 minute meeting and a handshake off the manager. There'll be deals for players agreed at the top level (Barca, Madrid, Man City etc) for the summer in 2020.}

03 Sep 2018 11:04:49
To be honest Ed that’s one of the main reasons I love this site, we get to hear of actual ongoings behind the scenes instead of the nonsense in the media.

You’re spot on there, Hooper never struck me as the sharpest tool in the box. It makes us appreciate players like KT, Brown, Lustig etc who show the club so much loyalty. I wouldn’t say no to him coming back but how many players have we seen that likely regret leaving?

That’s frightening though mate. James Forrest to Real Madrid in 2020 you heard it here first.
