Just a quick question to see if anyone knows when the deadline is for ST Holders to buy a 3 match package?
Also does anyone know roughly when general sale 3 match packages will go on sale? i, d think straight after the season ticket deadline but not sure

cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wednesday 11th Sept, 2 days before I get paid!

I think they might give ST holders the chance again to buy extra before the general sale. I already have a queue.

Right, I'm probably going to bore everyone!

These financial Fair Play rules seem to be a law unto themselves and for the past few weeks I cannot get over Real Madrid paying 100m for a Welsh football player!

I was just reading they are now the first sports Club to generate an income of more that 500million (season 2011/12), Barcelona are not far at their back but Manchester United are now more that 100million behind them in 3rd place and the gap looks like it could widen.

Their broadcasting revenue is generated from their broadcasting rights contract with Mediapro (Real Madrid TV), Champions League and Friendly matches. The 9% increase from the previous year was primarily down to a variety of friendlies played (last time I complain about Celtic in a glamour friendly). They played in USA, China, Kuwait and Europe.

The Spanish TV rights also gives the lions share to Real Madrid and Barcelona unlike England where its distributed a bit more evenly. They also more than actively promote their brand worldwide.

Their commercial revenue was also increased from the previous year to 187.2m which in part came from merchandise sales and just highlights the Real Madrid brand and popularity of the Club. Real Madrid are generating more income each year in difficult economic times in Spain and can attract any global brand (Although they seem to have been sold short with the new shirt deal with Emirates as that is less that Man Utd, Barcelona and Bayern Munich but still up 30% up on their previous deal with bwin).

Real Madrid seem to have a well publicised debt of 590m however under accounting measures that English Clubs use to calculate their debt it would be down to 146m, which is less than Arsenal and Manchester United's debt. (I do not know the ins & outs of these calculations)

I'm far from an expert on Financial Fair Play rules but total transfer outlay seems to be less important. Transfer fees can be amortised (a form a depreciation) over the length of a player's contract and Real Madrid definitely favour instalments, making wages more important. Real Madrid have 'lost' Kaka, Ozil and Higuain, freeing up wages and making Bale's more 'affordable'.

Real Madrid are more in line with FFP rules than the likes of Man City and Monaco.

They are also worth 3.3billion but Celtic's the team for me :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes Mrs E but according to Lord NS additional money doesn't deliver a sporting advantage. Particularly if you stole it from the tax authorities. So according to the wise owl, LNS, Financial fair play rules are a nonsense in football. Unrequired.
And as I said elsewhere, given the money mentioned at the disposal of Real Madrid and Barca, Celtic spending £5m or £3m on a striker makes no difference at all. It's tokenism in the big picture.

Agree0 Disagree0

@ 1, I did write at the end Celtic are the team for me and always will be. Its just the money side of the big Clubs does give me a wee interest.

I do not care that some need to use wide-spread tax avoidance schemes to attract players when no other Club in their Country did at such a scale, you do this without seeking advice - well RFC fans know how this story ends.

EBTs are not illegal, it was just the way RFC used them which brought about the guilty verdict.

When I was reading about Real Madrid they were constantly referred to as the Worlds 'most successful Club' based on domestic, European and global success. They were also voted the FIFA Club of the Century with 42.35% votes, Rangers were not 2nd or even in the top 10 lol

I don't know, I assume they are in the Guinness book of records or something for the 54 titles maybe but having never been the European Champions and collapsing in a heap a debt - they are far from a modern day 'success'.

Call me Mr old cynical but I've looked around the Internet and it appears young Alfred finnbogason, much sought after by multitudes last window, is still with SC Heerenveen.

The Germans, Cardiff, Greeks? were all apparently, according to his club, paying more. Did they? No.

Thank goodness for our club not throwing away serious money on a hard sell scam. His initial estimate was £2.5-£3m his club pushing that up to £5m is just plain wrong.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If Pukki isn't working out then I want Celtic to go all out in the January transfer window. A Centre Forward is a position we just cannot afford to be lacking.

I think I would still like to see this guy Finnbogason come in but not for a ridiculous amount. I would be content to spend £4m!

Agree0 Disagree0

Mrs E didn't our club bid £4m? Were Celtic not told the Germans were paying £4.5m? And even £5m price tag muted? I'd forget that kid. They blew it.

Agree0 Disagree0

@2 Sorry, that should have read £4/5m.

I just hope Pukki is a like for like Hooper :-)

Peter Lawwell appointed to the board of SFA.
Representative of the Professional Game Board.
He joins Campbell Ogilvie, Stewart Regan, Alan McRae, Rod Petrie and Barrie Jackson.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In my opinion Celtic were cheated out of five SPL titles over 11 years. Peter Lawwell has been remarkable by his silence on this. The retired legal consultant report, stating non payment of £47m in income tax didn't provide sporting advantage is insulting. Utterly incredulous begging challenge.
Additionally, the SFA Chief Executive SR apparently supporting the notion that sevco started by Charles Green is the same football club as bankrupted liquidated RFC needs challenging in the SFA board. I fully expect PL to do so robustly.

Ed you may or may not want to bother posting this as I will even admit the individual I will refer to is not worth giving much notice.Anyway its old chestnut adrian turdham this guy is a nasty piece of work who seems to take to radio social media and print to vent a vengeful dislike for our club. He predictably leapt into the peterborough mud slinging of the tomlin pursuit as this joker is a peterborough fan. I myself have not bothered with his odious talks##ite show for ages I would encourage others to do the same
Gally {Ed007's Note - I avoid the station altogether Gally.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He claims to be a Peterborough fan- but from what I've heard he's actually an Arsenal fan. And a k**b.

I listen to most other presenters on TS but avoid his show as he nothing more than a 'shock jock', says controvercial things to to get people riled and phone up. Absolutely no substance to his show whatsoever and that rounders guy who is on with him is just plain dense!

I don't know much about this situation but what does the guy expect during the transfer window?

I used to be a Southampton, Nottingham Forrest and Norwich Fan - not anymore ha!

How ridiculous, clown of a guy.

Your thinking of macanthony the peterborough owner a chancer in his own right i'm reffering to adrian durham who is a clown who does a show on talks#ite radio who has a vengeful opinion of celtic as a club

Can people just get back to supporting the team! We haven't even seen Pukki kick a ball for the club and people are already writing him off. What if he was our first choice. what if finnboggasson was a decoy to get a cheaper price on Pukki.

With every year that passes, this team should get stronger since we're still a young squad. So why spend 20mill just to please a bunch of our OWN fans who were probably the same fans who were on here not so long ago complaining about Wilson, Hooper and any other negative item they cared to focus on! And for that matter, we could have spent 100mill this season and we'd still be facing the same massive hurdles this CL group will present, with probably the same odds on qualifying!

Enjoy the magic that is Glasgow Celtic, and let's not take the thunder out of what has been a fantastic last few years. More positive posts on here, and enough of the boycotts because you didn't get the lollipop you were asking for!

Faithful thru-n-thru

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree the money for finbogson is sweety money to English clubs, but they were not falling over themselves to sign him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Pukki is a fantastic signing and will link brilliantly with Commons in and around the box.
I really have to laugh at people on here. For the last year or so, Hooper was being critisized week in week out for being not as good as made out and uninterested. ( Not by me, I always liked him). Now we have cashed in and spent fairly big on 2 Strikers, people are saying we have not replaced Hooper and are weaker.
I know its a big statement, but Pukki could be the best thing we have signed since Henke. Time will tell.

As for Wilson, another who most of us would have walked down to Nottingham a year and a half ago. A fairly good season and we are saying he has not been replaced. Virgil looked a class act on Sunday and the more he plays the better he will get.

Wanyama was an excellent player, but he had his flaws, like simple passes sometimes. We cashed in and 12m was something the club could not turn down.
Biton by all accounts is an excellent replacement and if it wasnt for a few complications could easily be staring for Man City at the minute.

Add Boerrigter to the signings, and I think we have done really well in the window.

Give new players a chance, just because there not household names or we've not paid megabucks for them does not mean anything, remember when we signed lubo, henrik and hartson etc, all became legends after time to settle at the club.stevieb

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant but agree with all points made.In hindsight many of our support became utterly predisposed to finnbogasson as if he was a 24 carat gold superstar .In terms of the window I believe lenny will feel he was left 2/3 players short of his intentions either as potential starters or as cover saying that I believe that van djik boeriggter biton and pukki will hopefully become essential to what we consider our beat eleven. If that proves to be the case then despite some shortcomings in the window and the bizzare late pursiut of a league 1 player in tomlin there could be real positives in the business we did time will tell on that score

With our qualification for the Champions League it is a great honour to be dining at the top table of European football this season.
But isn't it a pity that we didn't go out and buy a new outfit for the occasion by bringing in a bit of quality to replace what we have lost? Our new lads may or may not come good eventually but they aren't ready made replacements, and even the team we had last year would have needed improvement anyway.
It's a bit like a teenager studying hard all year for their GCSE's and then not bothering to turn up for the exam!

It's all very well being passionate about our club but as in all walks of life reality plays a very important role too. Can you honestly say we are better prepared for this season's CL than we were last year?
My post is not a moan, it is a glimpse of reality and if you read the posts over the last few days you'll find that most people agree. We were given a chance to do something in the CL and we didn't take it.

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Actualy my wording above was incorrect. What I meant to say was we have been given a chance to do something in the CL this year and we could have been a lot better prepared for it than we appear to be. That could be proven wrong but last year we entered with bags of enthusiasm and we were rewarded for it. There is a general sense of deflation this season and it hasn't even started yet. That isn't the fault of fans.

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

How prepared were the players last season? Wanyama, hooper, Wilson had never played champ league football along with most of the squad. Apart from our new signings all players have champ league experience. So does that not make us better equipped to deal with it.

Agree0 Disagree0

@4.) I don't think it does, no. Just having CL experience doesn't necessarily mean you're better prepared for it. It's a team sport and the players we lost were all major contributors to the success we had last year.
And that's my point, we have lost the players who made the difference and got us through the group stage against quality teams.
On first impressions the players we brought in may not be able to fill the void. We could have been better prepared. You clearly don't agree and that's fine, but there are many who will.
Of course we will all support our beloved Celtic regardless of who wears a shirt but I think we'd all be a lot happier if we had taken the transfer window a bit more seriously. We can't get every player we want, we all know that.

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

@5 hooper, Wilson and wanyama were not the only players that made the difference in champ league, what bout big Fraser brilliant in all games, big sammy was he not our top goalscorer in Europe, efes defensive displays bar Juve lol. The players last year were champ league newbys now they've got experience beating the best ad afew signings who could turn out to be superstars. Borigter experienced games agsinst Real, Dortmund, man city. Pukki mite have played for shalke.
Certainly dnt think we're in a worse state anyway.

I noticed that there is still a debate on the dark side about 140yrs unbroken, after reading a couple of post I thought I would try and put them straight. No chance, Ed039 does not like to post on this occasion I think because I argued against there unbroken reign. As a banter page I'm not sure if it works without someone giving the banter. Likewise, Vambo, tried posting on the subject myself, pointing out facts about them being a new club who were illegally shoe horned into the Scottish league, alas, apparently their Ed's don't do facts, if anyone puts across a valid point that scuppers their imaginary 140yrs unbroken history, it doesn't get printed.

@Vambo and Finn. as a "veteran" of not getting posts printed over there, I gather what happens is whatever Ed is on looks at the post and then decides what kind of response he will get from the deady bears, usually most of these are vitriolic, so the Eds take easy way out and do not post original one.
The deady bears do not do irony, humour or factual posts hence the vitriol responses. Timalloy

Agree0 Disagree0

Any fact av used they have an answer, can u giv me one they can't argue with me for. If FIFA and Uefa say they are what can we say
Monkeybhoy {Ed007's Note - Do you have a link to FIFA or UEFA saying that? Ask The Rangers/Sevco what happened to Third Lanark and their history or to read about the bankruptcy (liquidation) of Airdrieonians. There are two Airdrionian in Scottish Football history, one founded in 1878 and one founded in 2002 and they only changed their name back to Airdrieonians. If a club or business is liquidated it ceases to exist, ask the Advertising Standards Association about their ongoing investigation into The Rangers/Sevco fiasco. Ask Charles Green, Jim Traynor, Richard Gough, Stevie Naismith and Bomber Brown, they have all conceded the point over the past two years. Anyone with any sense knows that once the CVA was rejected that was it, even The Rangers/Sevco fans held up banners saying the same thing. Ask the same The Rangers/Sevco fans why were players allowed to walk away for free from Rangers, if the conditions of debenture holders from Rangers still stand and how much the shares Rangers are worth today.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I also have tried on the deady bears banter site. 1 simple way they could have made millions is lawsuits against every media outlet who had printed they are gone history ended etc. Not 1 has been lodged. So for a club that is desperately in need of a cash injection. Surely they would have had a slanderous case brought forward. There George the 1 trying too unite the fans, which I thought was fair play to the guy, then it seems he started playing the victim card and his TRUE colours started shining thru, after reading some of his posts, I really hope sevco go headlong into administration and he and the hordes of scotlands shame are left with there hope of a 3rd orc team being championed as the same club. steff

Agree0 Disagree0

George got a copy of the charles green handbook on how to get the bears onside. Insults and paranoid rants about lawell, ginger eastenders etc it gets the more extreme element of the tribute acts mob on board. Even saw them pushing for a liquidation or admin to get rid of present board but D&P would get put in charge again and again till every drop of blood was bled from them and craig whyte and charles green would be behind each successive owner till they got enough money to walk away and let someone else have prefered bidder status

A lot of the talk has been on aspects of the transfer window being disappointing, which to an extent I would agree regarding not adding one or two more faces. However I think both Stokes and Commons have come out the blocks all guns firing and look set to have their best seasons yet for Celtic (hoping I've not jinxed it). I really think if the team beds down quick enough we could have a chance albeit possibly small of coming up with an even bigger miracle than last season. On other points I think Ambrose is looking 10 times the player of last season and hope this continues. He seems to have got the point of not over playing in his own half! And on the new players VD looks a very good prospect, and if Derk can stay injury free he looks like the by line winger we have been missing for some time. Also here's hoping Pukki sets the plays on fire and Biton is our new tank in the midfield.

To anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about and is going to the game be aware there may be sections of the crowd young girls mostly going to see there latest idol, so random screaming is to be expected every time some guy you've never heard of before touches the ball, just walks on the park or warms up. Interesting post from the other side.

"Rangers have been magnificent to us! Drummer Lee Rigby's mum and step dad on This Morning! Fantastic!"

Unable to debate these sort of topics on their forum, so why not bring it onto this forum to get a decent debate going!

Having served 22 years in the RN I find this pathetic point scoring debating an absolute disgrace! Why do they believe that they are the armed forces darlings when it comes to their pathetic and cheesy attempts at this type of post! The fact is they withheld tax money that could have been used to strengthen military and also increase intel which would have prevented this tragedy from happening! But still they go on as if they are in the right and trying to play the victim in everything that they have brought upon themselves! {Ed007's Note - I seen a picture of their flyer for it and it gave me the boak. If his family agreed to that show of dis-respect of their son's name then they need to take a long hard look in the mirror, they can't be very intelligent, let's face it. Rigby's memory has been hijacked by scum like the EDL and BNP, (when was the last time you seen a drummer on the news in a warzone), so that should fit right in with the ethos over in Govan.
It's beyond cringe, what next.. Rangers do a sponsored Hide 'n' Seek to raise money for the Maddie fund? Sons Of Struth for Syria? They aren't Scotland's Shame for nothing you know, it is a warranted title.

We all appreciate the armed forces and the ultimate sacrifice these boys and girls make serving their country in hostile lands without hesitation and complaint; facing hidden enemies.
Many of them are from a diverse set of religious roots and practices and support all sorts of football teams in the UK and I can only imagine the thoughts going through their minds in time of terror and attack would be of their loved ones, they left behind.
For that mob of tax-dodgers to use them for publicity stunts and associate with them for convenient self platitude is galling.

Agree0 Disagree0

No football club has more fans in the armed forces, per capita, than any other. The rangers have already been rebuked publicly for this sort of stuff. They were pushing the lee Rigby thing in Sheffield. The vast majority of football fans realise it has nothing to do with football and leave the rigby family to grieve in peace.

Agree0 Disagree0

Some great posts! Shows the difference between the two banter pages! An intelligent display of responses on here unlike the other site where a form of deprivation of free speech exists to ensure that the subscribers of that forum are the only people who have their own point of view through without hindrance! Is this why people like myself and the ex RAFfy chappy serve in our armed forces? No, the past and present members of the armed forces help to provide a place for us to voice our opinions and not be vetted by people to serve their own personal agenda (in practice) or ensure that only their outlook is promoted! To think that these people hijack tragic events such as this brave mans death is absolutely appalling!
And, in 22 years in the RN, I did not come across many serving rangers supporters at all! They have proven that these people are very happy sitting on their hands and letting everybody else go and do their dirty work! Is that why their club died in the first place!
