Hello Ed hope your well, if you have the time just wanted to know if there has been any more discussions or information released regarding the European super league you spoke of in the past. In your opinion is that more likely to happen than Celtic ever moving to England . Thanks for your time.

I've watchted a few games now and apart from the man united game he's been really good. It's pleasing to see our ex players doing good down there saying that they all seem to be at the same club lol

03 Oct 2015 21:10:50
I think it's the strangest thing in the world that they get that position so wrong so often. If there is any position on the pitch you pay some extra money for its up front for goals, surely if we pay 5-6 million on a striker who actually scores his value would only increase and if they chose to leave we would at least have a profit, instead of paying 2 million on like 5 different strikers and loaning them out or just trying to get rid of them at a loss.

Ttts the sooner that bubble bursts the better disgusting the amounts thrown around down there how any club is still running with the amount in wages alone I will never understand take city for example there must be upwards of 20 players on 100 thousand and more a week surly not even TV money covers that

Gordo as long as we all keep buying SKY TV the bubble won't burst. that's what fuels it. Now BT are in the mix the bids may even get higher?

Tomorrow is "D" for Derby Day across europe in the different football leagues, some tasty games, here are my bets. BTTS in the Madrid derby, also in the Dortmund-Bayern game, same again as PSG play Marseille and also in the Liverpool derby.
In the Liverpool and Madrid derbies I also anticipate a penalty in the game and an ordering off in one or both games. Ronaldo to score will be massive odds on probably not worth betting unless you have a big bankroll to put on.

Was watching a video of celtic goals against rangers. Good memories! Have been following now for 45 years. Formations and tactics have changed a lot. If we were to slot players into current formation who would you pick? My team is as follows;

Forster

Lustig Van Dijk Wanyama Izziguire

Brown Petrov

Commons Nakamura Moravcik

Larsson

Haven't seen an overload of good left backs so emelio for me - he has had some great games although not fulfilled his initial potential. Sutton and Hartson don't fit with current formation but in another era would be starts. Bit light in bottom of attacking diamond but would be great on offensive; those three would all interchange! Wanyama is too good to leave out and was a great centre back as well. Have probably left out someone obvious but please correct me! Surprising for me is that I have 4 players from current team! And nearly more if we consider recent departures.

For a start u have Larsson in the team obviously. 1 word from him and you would have to change the formation. He wudnt want to play lone striker role and would be a total waste of his talents.
You cudnt have Naka Commons and Lubo as attacking 3. No legs there despite great talent.
Kinda makes a mockery of our system as we don't have the players to play it currently and this team defo hasn't.
Will keep saying it till I green in the face lol, u don't play a system and fit square pegs in round holes. You play a system that suits the players u have.
Imagine having Sutton/Hartson the now, they prob wudnt get a game. Crazy eh.

Agree1 Disagree1

03 Oct 2015 16:20:23
Ryman never thought of looking at it like that but you are correct. RD has tried to get the team super fit in order to make his system as effective as possible. I feel he is willing to sacrifice flair such as Commons because he wants total fitness so players can press and press. I agree with you that we don't have the players to play the system not just in terms of fitness but they are not good enough to play different positions. They are a limited squad in terms of ability and we take no account of that so we don't get the best of them. Commons will never score 30 goals playing this system. His lack of goals are a massive loss.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Oct 2015 17:06:22
Yes Johnny KC will never score as many playing like this. You also take away 20 goals now that VVD and Denayer are gone, you can see why we struggle to score sometimes. Why put goal scorers either in wrong position or not playing it just doesn't make sense.

Alright Ed007 I remember recently you bought a T8 box from droid box and was just wondering how it's working for you. Do you get all the sports and tv/ movies etc. Is it a basic plug and play or does it need a few downloads? And finally did you buy a keyboard along with remote? Apologies in advance for long winded post but don't want to spend money on any rubbish as there is a lot of different boxes to chose from. Cheers

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - It's a doddle to set up mate, there are some add ons already installed and you'll need to download some more but it's easy to do and there's simple to follow 'idiot-proof' guides on the 'net that tell you exactly what to do.
This is the box I bought https://goo.gl/Q7FjHj (that came with a keyboard with a built in mouse) but there's a V.3 box out now.
I've hardwired mine to my router (connected it with an ethernet cable rather than use wi-fi) so I don't know how the buffering is using wi-fi but I've been told as long as you have a strong internet connection and good downloading speed you'll be fine.}

03 Oct 2015 13:33:37
Nice one Ed that sounds good. Just as well I asked you because I thought you bought it from droidbox and not droid sticks! I have already ran Ethernet cables under my floor to all rooms a few weeks ago so just need to pick a box. I pay sly £70 a month ATM and that's without bt sports and movies so it's a no brainer! I will run it by the 'ball and chain' and order one later. Cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I get BT Sports for free with Virgin but my overall bill has went from about £120 a month to £50 odds I'm sure the wife said. Once you see the boxes running you'll soon realise that you can get any channel you want on it and see why some people just have their internet + phone now.}

03 Oct 2015 14:40:22
I still have a few months of sky to go as I signed up for a cheaper deal after I said I was leaving! Just wish I did now! A few folk I know have boxes and some say that they buffer quite a lot/ some don't so it's been doing my head in trying to figure which one to buy. As long as the Mrs gets her American crime/ drama guff I'm sure she will be happy and I my footie and golf. Cheers again Ed I will let you know how I get on.

As per previous posts, there was no one else in the squad to play at CB than Ambrose. For those that say play Ambrose at RB, it would take away the natural width that Lustig gives down the right. This is especially needed with commons playing down the right and drifting inside.

The Malmo game away from home was a huge disappointment but I honestly believe that the performances in Europe have improved. In the last 4 games against big name opposition it's refreshing to see Celtic giving European teams problems in defence. The defence does need tightening and the issue of zonal marking needs to be resolved though.

03 Oct 2015 01:08:33
I like Effe as a guy, unfortunately he is playing in a league for a club, beyond his present concentration level. problem being he is being used by others to cover up their short giving.
We are starting to see the real conman, right up there with Whyte.
what is it with Scottish football and conmen. Take a bow Rd.

Believable0 Unbelievable10

03 Oct 2015 09:37:01
RD a conman??! Give us peace,he's trying to do the best with what we have got who is going to do a better job with the money he's had? He's improved Rogic Biton he's gave youth players a chance his coaching is first class RD will get it right he's changing the club from top to bottom and there WILL be set backs along the way. He should be allowed his own back room staff as Collins and Kennedy are not his picks and are more of a hindrance than help

Agree7 Disagree0

03 Oct 2015 12:26:05
Yeah you are just talking nonsense now. There has been upsets and certain results that have been below expectations, but I don't think anyone can argue that the signings we are now targeting are of a much lower standard year on year. Under his managment a lot of player have improved and we are seeing a lot more youth being player regularly (ie Rogic and Tierney being thrown into the game the other night).I can understand people commenting and giving thier opinion in regards to our managment, however your comments are becoming attacks on the managment and as Ed mentioned yesterday people are starting to blame RD for individual errors made by players which is ridicoulos

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Oct 2015 12:35:19
I wouldn't say Deila was a conman but he is definitely a Yes-Man who is making a rod for his own back.
His 'assigned' back-room staff are not Celtic standard and look clueless and confused in the dug-out whenever we have problems on the pitch or the manager could use support.
He should have insisted on better assistants - especially after a season under his belt.
Rd has also messed up in transfer windows by failing to fill significant positions with quality (including a goalkeeper), holding onto deadwood like Stokes, Boerigter and Mulgrew and some of his signings have been pretty awful to say the least.
His perseverance with Johansen is also a huge question over his judgement and vision.

Agree1 Disagree3

03 Oct 2015 14:20:14
Campsie bhoy. How do you know that RD 's training is first class? You don't know that. That is your opinion no more than that. Also how do you know that he is not happy with Collins and Kennady? You can't just make statements you know nothing about to back up your argument. Listen if he is not happy with Collins and Kennedy he should grow a pair and get rid of them. If the board say no you must keep them then and he does not want them then he should walk away! I don't believe he has any issue with Collins or Kennedy. The Board would not have any problem in him dropping Kennedy off the team. He has to act like a manager of a top club or behave like a lap dog! So the bottom line is its a results business. If he has improved training it's not showing in the results. So can you stop just making statements or opinions and putting them forward as facts. Ronnie is not proving Celtic. Look at the stats and the results. Where is the improvement. Please tell me!

Would like to see some changes for Hamilton, on a plastic surface I wouldn't risk certain players like Lustig and Bitton for example be good to see some freshness although with Internationals coming up think most will play. My team anyway would be.

-------------Gordon-------------

-Janko---Boyata---Blackett--Izzy-

-------Brown(c)---Rogic----------

--McGregor---Commons---Armstrong--

-------------Griffiths-----------

Subs - Bailly, Tierney, GMS, Allan, Ciftci, Stokes, Nesbitt, Forrest.

Was tempted to put GMS in ahead of McGregor but his form has been so poor this season that for me McGregor has looked more impressive in the games he's played.

Would bring on Allan, GMS and Nesbitt if we're coasting it.

McGregor needs to be shipped out, against Raith he stopped the majority of our attacks by going backward and offered nothing going forward

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Oct 2015 00:30:17
If we had access to the type of money available down south, add to this the size of our fan base, stadium etc then we would eventually be challenging for the CL spots and also the title imo.

I'm not going to say we would win it every season because look at the size of Manchester United and they're struggling to keep up with Chelsea and Man City(Albeit Chelsea are poor this season but in general over the last few years)but we'd definitely be up there. For sure above your tottenhams, Evertons or even Liverpools tbh. But it would do in cycles between the biggest teams having their moments of dominance and then the power would shift to another one of the big clubs eventually, that's the way usually works.

03 Oct 2015 09:45:45
Not doubting in time us would b up there I mean with your current squad

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Oct 2015 10:46:06
I think with the current squad we would finish just below halfway.
We couldn't compete with the Chelsea's and Man City's of this world, but I think that given a little time to adjust, we would be able to beat teams like Sunderland, Norwich, Bournemouth, West Brom, and teams like that.
I think that given 5 years or so with the money we would get, we could be challenging the top 4, I think Celtic as a club and Scotland as a country would be very appealing to a lot of top players.
That is providing that this current board would be willing to spend any money.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Oct 2015 12:19:26
first year I could see us just staying up next year mid table same as the year after that then top 4 and stay there

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Oct 2015 12:39:29
The current squad is one of the poorest we have 'assembled' for a long time (especially the defence) and we would be a relegation candidate - without investment and recruitment.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Oct 2015 13:16:34
We wouldn't even start wih the current squad with 100 million to kick off I am confident even Peter and John park could sign some quality players. On the other hand if we had been in the EPL for the last five years we may have a team with Wanyama KI Ledley Matthews Forster Van Dyck and Hooper with a bit of luck top six would be realistic

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Oct 2015 13:38:07
Celtic will not be moving to England. It's that simple. We have a clever majority shareholder who plays the epl card anytime there are other issues to be addressed. Like why start a season with 2 strikers. Why do you feel the need for a yes man manager instead of backing the guy or getting in a guy with a back bone. Why is it only sponsorship season ticket and prize money that's invested into the team why do you never put some money in. All questions I would love to see Mr Desmond answer but no let's talk about the epl again. Any Celtic fan who wants the club in the epl should never question guys like hooper ever again. Hooper gave up trophies for the epl. Celtic would have to do the same. I am happy playing in Scotland but with some proper backing we could be cl last 16 and double or treble winners every season. Not chasing top 10 in epl.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm with you, Gary, I can't see a move to England ever being possible, a European League yes but not us joining the English League, UEFA won't allow it and it would open up moves for Real Madrid, Barca, Bayern etc all to apply to join any league they wanted to as well including the EPL.
I also don't want it to happen as I'd rather see the Scottish game improving on their own merits, the EPL and CL are a cancer in the game that is slowly killing football. The overall standards of the EPL this season is shockingly bad for the money that people are earning, boring mundane games with over hyped pundits trying to kid on that the game is entertaining with cliche after cliche about the 'best league in the world', who are they trying to convince?}

03 Oct 2015 13:45:23
Agree jungle Jim! Mid table with that team! No chance.we would be relegated from the EPL with that team! Over the course of a season we would really struggle! Weak up top and even weaker at the back! Relegation material for me!

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Oct 2015 14:28:21
I've said this on here before the over hyped epl is the major part of its success. If you tell enough people how good a product is then more and more people will buy into it. That's why so many people get subscriptions to TV networks to fund the whole league. It's the total opposite in Scotland we go to people and say look we know this is rubbish but will you throw us a bone anyway. I said this months ago when we had no sponsor I think the rights should've been sold to match room on the cheap with a consultancy role for Eddie or Barry Hearn because people will dis regard them as arrogant cockneys but they know how to sell a product and I think they could've done a fantastic job in turning the game round in Scotland.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It doesn't help when our own media feel the need to constantly talk our game down either.}

03 Oct 2015 17:01:02
