ha ha I know you cannot believe everything in the press, but apparently in the 6 Glasgow derby games Celtic scored MORE goals 16 than they won corners 13, personally I want to congratulate Sevco in even getting 13 corners lol.

I've said it before and got shouted down a bit, but why not Wayne Rooney. why not?
He's done at Man U, he's a home boy so won't want to stray far. he's a winner and can score anywhere in Europe. and he's too young to go to America yet. wages.?
He's made his money, sell him a challenge.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - I'd love Rooney to stick 2 fingers up at the English game and somehow wangle a move up here but it's never going to happen. Just like Beckham before him he's been blamed by their media and their fans for every England failure and he now also gets more abuse than praise or support from the Utd support who blame him for everything that's went wrong at Utd too.}

03 May 2017 12:36:55
Sorry but just can't agree lads. as much as I've rated Rooney in the past IMO he's finished! Not what we're looking for I'm afraid!

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Remember Scott Sinclair was supposedly finished too and we've had Celtic fans on here for the last 4/5 years saying it was time for Brown to be sold because of form & fitness concerns.
Rooney just needs to refocus himself, get his head together and get back to an acceptable level of fitness, he'd tear up the Scottish league and add an extra spark in Europe for us, but as I said though it's never going to happen.}

03 May 2017 13:08:21
If you don't think Rooney would tear teams apart up here you need your head tested. Never happen though. Held utd to ransom for bigger contracts before so no way he'd play for 30k a week!

Agree1 Disagree2

03 May 2017 13:42:35
Who's going to drop out of the team to accommodate Rooney though i. e. what is his natural position these days? Ed, he does seem the type who might choose to turn down riches if the right project is sold to him well enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - With doubts over both their fitness him and Rogic would be fighting for the same spot in the No.10 role behind Dembele.}

03 May 2017 13:47:45
id love rooney to give a go in scotland with the bhoys, but can't never see it happening, id rather go for young cheap talented players that can stay for longer and get better as they grow instead of a couple of has beens that won't improve anymore but only maybe start to get worse of than they where years ago, rooney can make an inpact on the team but i don't see him being in the long term plans BR has.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 May 2017 14:20:01
Stranger things have happened Ed, His Mrs is a "home type", Wayne has a soft spot for us Keane turned down Real Madrrid for us unlike Becks his Mrs doesn't have as big a say and unlike Becks he isn't exactly the image/ brand type is he although he has his sponsors

Is he going to really uproot his young family for China?

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I can't see him going to China, can you really see The Rooney's stoating about China giving it the Terry out of Brookside patter? Wayne struggles enough with English! I think he'll end up back at Everton.}

03 May 2017 14:33:29
Rooney is a class act of a footballer.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 May 2017 14:47:44
Same reasons I can't see him going to China drive them Prawn Crackers ORDERING Prawn crackers that scouse accent has to be the worst on the PLANET behind the brummie one (Sorry 001!)

Everton is a good shout because they have money torn now, but the EPL will catch him out soon pace wise which is why Utd will be hunting him

MLS? everyone else goes for one last payday but you never know (y)

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't think his Mrs would fancy being away from her family and dragging the kids half way across the world with their schooling and personal well being, having their friends and being near their grandparents etc, she seems pretty down to earth when it comes to that side of things. There's no way she'd let him go out there alone for the obvious reasons that the lad's a dirty dawg!}

03 May 2017 14:57:07
Na still not for me! Rooney was a great footballer but when's the last time u seen him have a great game never mind a great season! Nowhere near the player he once was! Not even close.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 May 2017 17:59:20
He won't go to china because he prefers Indian food, according to the sevco page 😅😅😅.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 May 2017 16:37:03
Didn't have Rooney down as your cup of tea Ed! He's a fantastically gifted footballer and someone that has the determination he has would be an asset to any club. Still think he will be the striker that Man Utd need when he's fit. Would be outstanding if we did get him. Wayne Rooney for us and Adam Rooney for them, after ballotelli though.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've always liked Rooney as a player and was delighted that Utd signed him, he really did have everything in his locker to be genuinely world class but over the last few years all the poor training and diet habits he's had all his career have caught up with him and he's struggled for fitness. He never hit the heights he should have and only has himself to blame, if only he had followed Ronaldo's lead. (sigh)
Despite the grief he takes now he's still the club's record scorer which is a great achievement that probably will never be beaten the way the game is you'll not get players hanging around long enough to get near his total. He's now England's record goal scorer and record outfield appearances and has won nearly every domestic and European honour going, I wouldn't be surprised if he adds a Europa League winners medal to that as well - and he's only 31. If he could get focused and fully fit he could play on for years but it won't be at the very top level imo.
Throw in that he's a Tim and dresses the kids in the Hoops and Ireland gear what's not to like}

03 May 2017 17:43:40
Guys, he'd could be re born up here. Scott has been. think of the young guys having him on the pitch and learning from him. I know the wages might be an issue but he has been lost at Utd for a few years now. he'd be playing in Champions League, he'd be loved again. If then he only got back to some of his best he'd be a star. nothing wrong with his work ethic either.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 May 2017 19:11:09
I would take Rooney in a heartbeat, love the type of player he is, one of the last proper footballers, brought up on football the way I was.
Add to that I think he is an absolute gem of a player, his form over the last couple of years has dropped but then united have been really poor so any wonder he has suffered, not to mention the constant England criticism n manager merry go round at united.
Some of his best form was having a great partner or two to bounce off, ronaldo, ruud n tevez. Compare that to recent years with various potential signings n just not enough quality in a united side. Say this to my mate, despite being a sevconian also follows united, goes to more united games than sevco haha how the hell does fellaini ever get near a first team? absolutely useless n never a fitba player in his life.
As for Wayne I agree he would find a new lease of life up here and with Brendan working with him I'm sure we would see him back to something approaching his best.
Quality player is Rooney n would be a star in the hoops.

03 May 2017 19:28:48
I would take him in a heartbeat for a number of reasons. Firstly I think he would slot in to our number 10 role with ease. He would be another leader on the pitch especially important when Broony isn't available. It would raise the profile of the club up a notch. He could help Broony groom Armstrong into a future captain. And his presence would help attract other big names. As everyone knows it's highly unlikely but if anyone one could talk him in to it perhaps it could be BR with Desmond's backing.

03 May 2017 19:54:14
"Turn down riches if the right project", yeah that sounds like the Rooney that held United to random to get his £250,000,a week, biggest mistake Fergus made giving in to him.

Rooney would play his heart out for us. It could be exactly what he's looking for. And let's be honest he doesn't need huge bucks now he has millions in the bank. I'd love to see it happen. HH.

What do you think will happen with wee Paddy for the cup final? He said himself it will be either club OR country but it can't be both as the group stages for England finish the day before the cupfinal. He said he wants others to make the decision for him. HH.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - I don't know how it's going to pan out but for me he should be playing in the SC Final as I believe your club should always come first. I'd be happy if none of our players played international football.}

03 May 2017 11:10:27
I'm my honest opinion looking at this current Celtic squad I see a few fringe areas of the pitch and really do think we have some really top class players on our hands. Jozo, KT, Armstrong and fennel are three players I really think that can make it to the top and will be playing the best football available one day. Hopefully that comes under Celtic as I can't see us stalling any time soon. The love for our club has returned and we can only thank the club for doing so. The back room staff aren't as bad as they seem. Great to see.

I see a lot of talk comparing O'Neill's Celtic side to the current one and I was wondering, if you had to make up an XI from the two teams, who would be in it?

It is not a true test of which is the better team, but it does give a bit of an idea.

Jesus man. Dembele comes out and says he wants to be one of the best strikers in the world, (which with his attitude for football rather than money and that potential is there I think he very well could be) and people are already on the offensive including Celtic fans saying he's not even the best at Celtic. He never claimed to be. He's got ambitions as everyone should have. Not to mention he's got at the very least another 12 years of playing football .
