See Martinez is close to getting Everton job, it'll be interesting to watch them plummet and fighting relegation next year, I don't rate him as a manager at all & can't understand where he gets this great reputation from, glad we didn't get him when we were ment to be interested. Airdrie United have changed their name to that of their predecessors Airdrieonians.
The club, relegated from the First Division this season, will see the name change come into effect for the 2013/14 season after being given permission by the Scottish FA.
Airdrieonians were liquidated in 2002, leading to the creation of Airdrie United in an attempt to keep senior football in the town.
"When the old company went into liquidation, it was in a different football environment and the use of the name was not possible at that time, " Airdrie chairman Jim Ballantyne said in a statement.
"With all the recent changes however, and subsequent rulings, it paved the way for us to make the move and therefore we set the wheels in motion.
"It was actually raised at a fans meeting a few months ago but we could not give too much away as there was still much work to be done.
"However with the support of last year's club sponsors. E & A Heating Ltd, we were able to progress matters to a conclusion.
"Formal SFA clearance was finally granted at the recent meeting of the Professional Game Board".
Following Airdrieonians' liquidation, the new club were unsuccessful in gaining entry to the Third Division, with Gretna being given the place instead.
Airdrie United were then given permission to purchase ailing Clydebank, inheriting their Scottish FA membership and changing the club's name.

Earlier I copped some flak from a poster regarding posting about the blatant corruption and collusion that surrounds sevco.
Pretty much every response backed me up. We need to see just what is going on. The pathetic press and inept governing bodies in this country are nothing short of a disgrace. Anyone old enough to remember pre Fergus will know what I mean. Our club was vilified and humiliated daily in the press.
Ask yourself this, if Fergus had not done what he did, do you think the SFA and press would have reacted the same way they do now? Would we have been allowed to resurface debt free and playing under our old licence? Does anyone think the SFA, who deliberately held up Jorge Cadette's registration, would have assisted us? This is why we need to be on their case.
They have now started the push for season ticket sales. Sneaky has posted an open letter to all fans with the usual rhetoric, world records, only club that could do this etc, but finishes with the usual quote to appeal to the masses. We are the people. We all know the origins of this, but in the context of sevco we also know the underlying meaning. Will he be mentioned in the press for using this crass rallying call? If he is it will be a very soft mention. green jhedi

I've booked Flights and Hotel for Celtic v Liverpool in Dublin on August 10th.

Given that neil lennon was at the French cup final, could the source of his interest not perhaps be Cheick Diabate? We are told that we are looking for a big target-man striker (like Balde) and Diabate fits the bill, and is in good form for Bordeaux. Jean-Pierre Laguerre.
