Have we had a record today, despite the transfer season up and running there isn't one post on here today raising the possibility of Dembele leaving .
It's most unusual for our negative fans to not talk up the possibility of our best asset leaving.

That's cause he's going nowhere he's staying until summer he will have a cracking second half if the season then go.

Canny be any worse than the first half.

04 Jan 2018 10:30:17
If we get offered anywhere near 20 million then take it! Yes the big mans been injured and been in and out the team but for me his hearts not in it! And more of the same in the 2nd half of the season doesn’t do him and more importantly us any favours!

It’s not us trying to sell him, it is the hacks.

Pissed me right off his reaction to getting subbed after doing nothing for an hour, if he goes good luck to the bhoy, think he might be off this window tbh, disagree with best asset chris, think that's KT for me. an asset that goes on holiday in his work clothes and jumps into a hoops bar for a beer, would be more gutted if KT left than dembelle tbh.

Agree4 Disagree0

05 Jan 2018 23:38:04
A anyone who jumps into a bar for an alcoholic drink is in the middle of the season is not looking after his body properly .
I am sure Boywonder must have actually seen him drink, as it is no time since he said he didn't drink alcohol, but might start drinking when he finished playing .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I was out earlier (my wee niece that I've spoke about for years turned 17 today!) but Dembele went straight down the tunnel to get treatment from the sports science folk which probably included some kind of muscle rubbing - did people expect him to cartwheel off the pitch looking happy?}

03 Jan 2018 20:23:40
Compper aside we are still going down the "Young with potential" route with Morgan, Hendry, McGinn and the young Aussie, I think we really need to be signing players who are ready for our first team NOW .
Drewzybhoy .

Said the sane thing in work today mate.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jan 2018 21:46:55
Just because you told someone something at work doesn't make it right .
If u want talented players, u have to buy young or old . Celtic cannot afford £10m+ for just above average 25 year olds .
Time people woke up to the prices nowadays.

Agree3 Disagree8

03 Jan 2018 22:40:13
Old man Chris, players like Morgan, and the young Aussie will not get a game for Celtic so they will be out on loan, like Allan and Christie along with about 8 others, so what we are doing is buying players with a view that they may make it in the future but won't improve the team one bit for about 18months or maybe more. Nothing wrong with that, it's a way of developing players for the future and it seems to be part of the business model so with the likes of Kouassi now also going out on loan what Drewzybhoy is pointing out is that we also need to bring players in who can go straight into the first team, and we need 4 or 5 of them.

Agree4 Disagree1

03 Jan 2018 23:03:14
It's basically just what the big English teams are doing but on a smaller scale as we don't have there money but most eh them don't have our history HAIL HAIL.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jan 2018 23:42:42
Old man I was just saying I said the same thing in work not right or wrong was just thinking we are being linked with future projects when we have plenty here all ready if we sign someone it would imo be someone that will come in and be in the starting 11.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jan 2018 09:01:40
Every time I think about our signing strategy the song Somewhere Over The Rainbow pops into my head.

Everything seems to be done with a view to two, three, four years down the line.

Now I’m all for forward planning. It’s vital, but the salient point of the right now seems to be overlooked, up until now. We shall see if the problems that need fixed now are dealt with.

Our record of taking these projects and turning them into first team regulars is woeful and this causes angst at our continued reliance on this strategy.

The team needs players right now. There are players out there better than what we have that won’t cost £10m+. We need the people who are employed to find them to do just that.

I actually think we will bring in players to go straight into the team this time. I have a feeling that even our board when watching us lately cannot fail to realise what needs to be done now from a position of superiority. Maintaining that superiority won’t happen by wishing for it.

Projects are wish lists. Faith is having belief when evidence does not exist to support it. Re our past wonderkid projects, there is certainly no evidence they deliver.

A combination of what’s needed now and an eye to the future is required. And that needs addressed now.

Agree3 Disagree0

04 Jan 2018 15:24:49
If you don't think McGinns ready for the first team, you are going to be in for a big surprise, if we sign him.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jan 2018 15:56:00
I think it's fine to build for 3 or 4 years down the line, but that isn't any help in getting us into the Champions league next season, or avoiding some heavy defeats if we get there.
I accept the argument about transfer fees, but I can't believe that it would be impossible to strengthen our team if we really wanted to.
As fans, we have had to endure some awful hammerings in the Champions league, the reward for that is the club makes an awful lot of money out of it.
If we are saying that it is impossible to improve our team with a bit of the money we earn from the Champions league, then why exactly are we trying to qualify for it? .

@jb67 - we're bidding £1 million ( that's roughly $14.2 million Dembele Dollars at current exchange rates ) for an EPL standard player. Maybe we should keep the cash to pay the next lot of creditors for this Admin / Liquidation you keep going on about?

STV Sport reporting that Brendan reckons that Eboue Kouassi will benefit from a spell out on loan but still hopes he will make an impact at Celtic when he returns, tbh I have seen nothing from him to make me share his optimism .

Happy New Year Drewzy, I posted about this boy earlier:yesterday? Like everyone else, we’ve no seen much of him and you’re right that I remember him seeming ropey but also remember a couple of performances that suggested he had potential to hold his own as a CDM. Perhaps a run on loan is SPFL could let him show what he can do?

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jan 2018 19:27:37
Any time I’ve seen him he’s looked comfortable in possession, has a wide range of passing and is strong in the tackle.

03 Jan 2018 20:07:20
I agree with Kevbhoy on this I don't get why people are slating him. Sure he had a real good assist for Griffiths in one of his few starts.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Jan 2018 20:12:35
Happy New Year all, his tackling is rash to say the least, he’s been here for a year and albeit he’s had a couple of injuries but given the fee he should have kicked on more than he has done, hopefully game time will help him and we get to see what he can do .
Drewzybhoy .

Looks like he has all the attributes to be a right good player to me.

Drezybhoy Thankfully it doesn't really matter if you or I don't see anything to make us believe he is going to make it .
If B R does, and if Eboue goes on to have a successful career with Celtic, I hope all the fans support and encourage him.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Jan 2018 21:53:28
If he's going on loan id like to see him going to hibs, if we get mcginn and loan him back for 6 months we can see how the future midfield might look.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2018 23:39:59
If he's going to stay in Scotland I'd like to see him head to Kilmarnock if they were looking. They're not a club I like by any stretch but Kristoffer Ajer came back with some great experience and they've also got a fantastic manager now.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jan 2018 09:07:05
I agree Kev. I would prefer him going to Hibs but the main point is he goes somewhere that makes him a better player for us.

After the money we spent on him I can’t understand why he doesn’t play more. In games when we need to hold on or hold out he should be played with Brown.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jan 2018 12:18:25
He could sweeten a mcginn deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jan 2018 15:25:33
Well if we get McGinn, there is no point in loaning him back, he might just be what the midfield is missing just now, and Kilmarnock or Hibs might suit Eboue.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jan 2018 19:37:05
I agree aindoh if we buy him we should keep him in our squad but a think hibs will want to keep him given that st mirren got their wish. A just think if it happens it would be good to see eboue and mcginn play together for the second half of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2018 18:15:18
Given his football ability as a proven internationalist and his obvious affinity with Celtic and our need for cover in that position and the likely purchase price I'll be massively disappointed nae dumbfounded if we don't make a bid for James McLean.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

03 Jan 2018 18:40:57
I’ve never been a fan of mcclean, and never thought he was better than what we’ve got currently, but I thought the same about Neil Lennon and look how that turned out.

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jan 2018 19:29:30
JFP are u McLean’s agent? Haha! U said it in your post mate, we need cover in there! Mclean’s not the type to come in and cover for someone! Sinclair is Brendan’s favourite and he’ll start 9 times out of 10 mate. why pay Mclean’s fee and what I’m guessing would be a high wage to cover for Sinclair.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2018 19:59:41
LH86 good players can play anywhere rather than be purely cover for Sinky plus since his Mrs moved back down south I have a feeling he will also do so to in time as that situation must be difficult which I think has been reflected in his performances. He's also now into year 2 of a 4 year contract I think. To reassure you I'm not James McLeans agent but I just love seeing talented international players who understand and have a feeling for your club and mine play for us ie. McStay, Burns, Johnstone, Broony and JAMES MCLEAN! 😂👍☘️.

Agree0 Disagree0

A like McLean he's playing week in week out in the so called best league in the world and is an established international with pace and a great left foot.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2018 20:26:23
No better than what we have? 60 international caps? Sinclair possibly off? What doest thou mean by baggage DB pray tell?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2018 20:59:34
Where is this pish that Sinclair is possibly off coming fae?
As for using how many international games he's played as evidence how good he is had close to 90
Gamboa has 62 caps and is fecking rotten.
McLean is a not bad player but I don't think he's better than Sinclair or forrest.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Jan 2018 21:59:40
JFP I’m in total agreement about having players who would run through a wall for the jersey, and the guy would walk from down there if we wanted to sign him. just saying that Sinclair is Brendans first name on the team sheet along with brown and I can’t see us shelling out on an established epl player who plays in exactly the same position. but I can totally understand why u want him in mate, and the sight of him playing against sevco would be worth the price alone 🤣🤣🤣🤣 just looking it maybe from Brendan’s point of view and not convinced he’d go for it.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2018 22:03:07
Kev with all due respects if Mc Clean is judged to be as good as Sinclair and Forrest then he should be bought . Attacking wing men are often changed during games to give a slightly different emphasis and so a McClean type player would be very useful.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jan 2018 09:15:15
Answer me this McLean fans. If he was an Ulster prod would you still think he was a great addition? How much are you influenced by his background and being a supporter?

He isn’t good enough for our team if we want to progress. Wanting him because it will noise up the Sevconians establishment is akin to Trump trying to out do the bold Kim.

Childish and not rationale.

I have stated before this in my view would be a PR disaster and the board will never sanction going for him. Never, get used to that guys.

He isn’t good enough to warrant a place in the team we want.

As I said, if he cane from Watford, had never heard of us, would you give him a secibd thought?

Naw, didn’t think so.

Agree0 Disagree3

04 Jan 2018 22:14:08
PR disaster with who? Bigoted racist Scottish media and opposition fans? Who cares apart fae the odd Uncle Tom like you. And btw when had signing a 'prod' ever been a problem for us? And also James mcclean is a premiership player Sinclair was championship player Forrest would be the same and Hayes league 1 at best so how's he not as good as what we've got?

Hi Ed, do you think that the Caulker signing is looking likely or is it still speculation at this point.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It's more than speculation mate but as I said a lot will depend on the player himself and his recovery.}

03 Jan 2018 11:19:24
Ed,

With the signing of Compper, possibly Caulker and Hendry, do you think Ajer is going to see more game time in centre midfield?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - No, Ajer is a CB now. Even when he was in Norway he was seen as a CB in the long term but playing in the CDM role allowed him and his game to develop at an early age.}

03 Jan 2018 12:06:15
Could Compper be bought with the purpose of cover for KT?, or do you see him at CB?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2018 13:48:14
I can remember Ronny saying that he was going to be a CB.
Think it's a case of both with Compper bhoywonder. Roger has always liked player that can play a few positions.

It’s probably the same idea that they’ve got with the boy McCrory. Give him a stint in the middle to raise his passing levels and confidence in the ball before putting him back into defence a more accomplished all round player.
