After weeks of negative posts regarding celtic, the board and some horrible descriptions of Peter Lawwell., it would have been nice to have read some positive posts from dangy1888 and dn30 in particular regarding the signings of Armstrong and Mackay-Steven I won't hold my breath.killy.

Believable2 Unbelievable5

Killy I don't know if you are high on glue or something, but think you will find I have always been supportive of signing armstrong and GMS. You are aware that celticrumours has more than one page where people can post? Suggest you have a wee peek and you will see I have commented regarding situation.

Sounds to me like you are in a wee cream puff cause Deila is executing his duties as manager effectively and are looking to nitpick anyone who has consitently backed Deila

Agree1 Disagree1

Dn30 I never at anytime mentioned our manager or said anything derogatory against him.My post was in relation to you and dangy1888 who in the past week or so we're betting on Peter Lawwell not spending money in the transfer window along with some unsavoury remarks towards him, the same dangy1888 who suggested a couple of weeks ago that Rangers would score a barrowload against us.At 66 it wouldn't be advisable for me to sniff glue, with regards to being in the huff about our manager, I am one of the old brigade of celtic fans who has and never will bad mouth celtic or any of their managers, all of them over the years have always had my support and as long as I am alive they always will regardless of how they are playing.killy.

Agree0 Disagree2

Well within our rights to slate Lawwell and biscuit tin mentality. There are plenty of instances where trying to play wheeler dealer, has effected quality on pitch with some of the dross we have seen.

Maybe your happy to see team underperform, but majority of support are not. wouldn't surprise me if you were happy to see the kellys nearly send club to the wall

Agree1 Disagree1

Most of the doss we have signed have come about as reasonable players from their home club . They regarded signing for Celtic as their big team and were happy to play a bit at Celtic . Those who want ed to become big starts and go to England worked hard with our coaches .

Agree0 Disagree0

Dn30 your right that we as fans have been let down in previous transfer windows but I think Killy is referring to comments you made in the last week about the willingness to sign players in this window by pl and board. I think most of us are happy to sign Gms and Stuart so a wee well done to pl and board for these deals as they proved your fears wrong would have been nice. Hopefully I'll do the same with ronny if we beat inter Milan lol

Agree0 Disagree0

It's the first window in who knows how long that I have actually been remotely pleased as opposed to fuming.

We've spent a couple million. But a couple million I think most seem to agree is well spent. So well done Celtic for, in quite a while, appeasing some very tired fans.

Just do the same again, and more, in the summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

The board do need praised this time. But guys let's not blast them if both the signings don't work out. They appear to be very good signings, what happens after that is down to the players.

Agree1 Disagree0

Yeah I hope they are given the rest of the season to settle in. Apparently RD compared him to muller, obviously not quite that level, so perhaps that shows us where he imagines him playing. I still think we need a defensive midfielder brought in for next years attempt at europe, as mulgrew can offer cover their but it would be good to look forward. Shame we never signed besic

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think i'm out of order for slating the board. I don't think there is one supporter out there who doesn't agree, cutting corners and not bringing in anyone before CL qualifier against Maribor cost us dearly. Spending at that point would of made club £20m and would of addressed injury problems. The board knew they had to spend this window or there would of been an uproar.

The only person I think deserves praise through this is Deila. He made the best of what he has and has done well so far. I think this idea of smaller squad will get the best out of players, as they will have more game time.

As I've said in a previous post, you can't change your view on manager after one game. Same applies to lawwell, you can't change view after one transfer window

Agree1 Disagree0

Hi edinbhoy, a hope that muller comparison gets quickly forgot about mate, a think they are a burden rather than any benefit, a cannot be the only disappointed then a young teen that Stevie Fulton wasn't "the new Baggio"

It was a pleasure listening to them yesterday @ the press conference seem, bright & articulate you always take a chance in youngsters "heads turning" to easy, seem level headed & grounded which is a plus IMO

ATVB JB7

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah jamie, i'm sure it will. Was merely a comment suggesting that RD sees him as a versatile forward so perhaps we are likely to see him in a variety of positions.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it's just too simple and not true that if the club had spent £5 m before the Maribor match the club would have made £20m less £5m . For a start the first team squad etc would get bonuses for qualifying . Also if anyone at Celtic would have the ability to pick out a player or more that would guarantee qualification to Champions league, then he would certainly be a very important member of the scouting team.

Agree0 Disagree1

Chris the £20m is called gross profit. Its fairly obvious there would be deductions from this figure. The point is there would be a far greater pot left compared to europa league.

Agree0 Disagree0

DN 30 surely the point is that that even if the board spent as freely as even are most spendthrift fans wanted, there is no guarantee that the club would get the alleged £20m . Indeed qualifying for the Champions League could cost the club money in the short term . Who is to say that if we got past inter Milan and another couple of rounds in the Europa Cup we may make more real money .
To be honest neither you or me know .

Agree0 Disagree0

Chris02 I don't think any fan would want club to get into debt by freely spending. Nobody is saying that. But players were needed at start of season and it was a hell of a gamble by lawwell that never paid off.

Even if we win Europa league, doubt revenue will be more than £20m CL stages

Agree0 Disagree0

DN everyone would agree the club needed players in September, but remember there are two sides to the story . The players Celtic wanted may not have wanted to sign for Celtic, or maybe the clubs who had the players signatures may have felt the players were worth more than Celtic were prepared to give . Remember DN Deila only came to Celtic in mid June . He didn't meet the players until the end of the month and so it was a very rushed job building the squad he wanted . At the outset it looked as if we had three great players, on loan, but now we are unsure of Guidetti . Three good signing in a window isn't bad for Celtic .

Agree0 Disagree0

Dn30 everyone has a right to their opinion, my gripe is that it becomes to personal towards certain people within Celtic Park.As I said in an earlier post I am a Celtic supporter and will watch Celtic regardless of the team are performing, that's what supporters do.With regards to the Kelly, s nearly putting the club to the wall, I think that was the aim of a certain cretin called Murray abetted by the Bank of Scotland the same bank that were close to shutting down Celtic, whilst at the same time were lavishing untold millions on Rangers. It was impossible for the Kelly, s and the board members to compete with with that level of spending, because no one had any interest in Celtic they were all falling over themselves to cosy up to Mr Murray, who I said earlier in this post was determined to put Celtic out of the game.It wasn't only Celtic who suffered at the CHEATING every team did, so I think it's wrong to put the blame on the Kelly, s they did what they could under the circumstances.killy.

Agree1 Disagree1

@2
Killy
What would be the optimum age for sniffin' glue?
You say at 66 it is not advisable, well I am only 52 so can you advise me if there is still time for me at my age to benefit from the the glue sniffin' as I was too scared to try it when I was in my youth in the late 70s early 80s lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Killy if a post is directed at me, I've every right to challenge gripe. If fans don't voice concerns, its a slippery slope as board of whatever team they support will take advantage and do what they want.

Did you back mowbray till the end? Cause I don't think 1 person did.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dn30 this is my last post on the ongoing exchange of opinions with you.As stated in previous posts I am a Celtic supporter, through good and not so good times I will be there supporting and encouraging the team regardless of who the manager is, but that's just me a SUPPORTER of Celtic Football Club.killy.

Thank God for that killy. I was getting really bored of debating with yet another superfan who likes to dictate what people should think. If that's what floats your boat, you should go stay in North Korea.

Obviously your happy to be a yes man and see club ran into ground, but majority of fans including myself will be heard

So Question who drops out for GMS and Armstrong? would you have the 2 of them go straight in to the team?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think that is a great question tonybhoy a thought he would play Armstrong first in the left of the front three, that is where he scored against us

IMO Johnansen & Commons have struck up a wee partnership "switching" the CAM & front right position and it looks good tbh so the position I think is vulnerable is the front left where he plays Stokes & Henderson, as we all know KC is a bit of a "spent force" after the 70 mark so maybe GMS from the bench to replace him?

That makes most sense to me mate

ATVB JB7

Agree0 Disagree0

For me the most encouraging thing is Ronny does not seem to mind who he drops, if a player deserves to be in he will be. Competition is now intense for a shirt at Celtic, thinking about Forrest in particular here, and that can only be a good thing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its a good point. I don't think GMS will get in straight away. Like Jamie I think he might go with that. But personally I would go with Brown, Johansson. Then 3 of Commons, Armstrong, Henderson. With Griffiths up top. The thing here is there is now so much more energy in there with my choice and I think RD will luv that. The plus point for me here is Johansson and Armstrong can change any time to give each other a rest so there is more pressure on opponents and the energy levels will stay high. because I don't know if anyone has noticed but SJ is everywhere in 1st half of games then seems to die. A quality KC is often accused of lol.

Agree1 Disagree1

03 Feb 2015 18:45:19
I'd have GMS in for Stokes. Armstrong and commons would be rotated. It's a difficult one but a good dilemma to have

Agree2 Disagree0

I would go Brown and Bitton then Johansson, Commons or Armstrong, GMS or Stokes Just gives RD good options dependant on the game

Agree1 Disagree0

I agree with henriks. Gms on left or right No harm to stokes but it would be good to see us with a natural wide player. As for Armstrong we have a massive schedule coming up so between him biton johanson and commons we have the Middle covered with quality. With Broony playing every game of course. Plenty of choice upfront. Looking good.

Agree0 Disagree0

RD very rarely names the same side twice in a row and there are a few who have not been at their best consistently like Stokes, Forrest, McGregor and Guidetti who need a break or a rocket.
The additions will add competition and this will keep the squad on their toes.
I hope young Henderson doesn't get pushed out the picture as he has been contributing well to recent results.

I'm very happy we got the 2 Dundee Utd bhoys and would have been on here complaining if we never got it done so at least PL did good work but here is my problem with the deal which may look like picking at bones! We got Armstrong for a good price but for this I'm guessing we have at least a 20% sell on clause, why not just pay the extra 1m up front rather than cost our selfs a potential 2/3 m in the future?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Maybe because Armstrong may stay with us for the greater part of his career .
Maybe the 20% to Dundee Utd on resale is a figment of the MSSM.
Or simply Peter Lawwell believes a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush .
Usually when it comes to finance P L gets it right .

Agree1 Disagree0

Almost every deal involving a young player has a sell on, nothing new and expected really.

Not that I condemn any of it but I find the Daily Ranger as usual tends to highlight every bad think a Celtic fan did before during or after the game. There was the story about the poor wee boy bottled, A man beaten by Celtic supporters, The Celtic U20 Ladies footballers sectarian rant on and now there's mention of 3 cases of sectarian chanting at the game. Not saying we did but they will probably highlight it was Celtic who did so. Didn't Rangers do anything wrong at the weekend? I find that hard to believe. Why does this paper try drag our club through the dirt?

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - They're printing stories their readership want to hear, they don't want to hear that the co-founder of Sons of Struth, an all-round bawbag and oxygen thief, was arested on Sunday. Who knew 'fans rep' was short for reprobate!}

It amazes me that any Celtic fan still reads the Daily Record . It shouldn't be a surprise that it is full of sectarian lies from the front page through to the back

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Feb 2015 18:00:04
Chris - I stopped buying the Record 6 years ago. I had bought it everyday since I was 15 and at school. Bought it for decades and decades - then the penny dropped. Now I wouldn't read it for a freebie. In it's heyday it seemed a reasonable rag but not for a long time now. As Ed007 noted, it just caters to it's Blue Bigot readership. Traynor then Jackson ad nauseum.

Agree2 Disagree0

What did you expect from the Dr, this is the paper that compared Fergus to sad dam Hussein, the thugs and thieves headline, and for every day of rangers nine in a row celts in crisis and the cracked or broken crest.During Rangers current problems no sign of broken crest or negative stories.killy.

Agree2 Disagree0

It's toilet paper. at best.

Agree2 Disagree0

Be fair, it's great for cleaning the Windows with as well

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - Isn't that it still affecting your view though?}

In Ireland it's the only paper that gave us any real information about Scottish Football . I had turned against it but the last straw was the "Thieves Thugs Liars" headlines . I never spent a penny on it since .

Agree0 Disagree1

Agree guys I bet when the people named for being arrested due to sectarianism the ranger will only name the Celtic ones (if any) and try shame the whole of our support. Weren't they singing sectarian songs? Was it not highlighted? It is always swept under the rug when they're concerned. I see no further investigation on the 2 McCulloch incidents are happening again he always gets away with it!

Afternoon Ed, Heh Ed turns out the Dundee Utd chairman been reading this site to mate so we owe him a invoice as well lol

He is "stealing oor EXACT patter" mate from last week when we discussed United (and I quote) "achieving OPTIMUM value" for GMS & Armstrong lol so the only real question is are we sending him the one invoice and splitting it or 2 invoices mate am no really fussed you decide :=P:=P

ATVB JB7

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Hahaha did he say that? I'm just catching up with today's stuff so I've not seen anything, I spent this morning in the dentist's chair. ;(

LOL Ed, In addressing the disgruntled Utd fans the Utd chairman said once GMS & Armstrong made it clear they wanted to leave we were "duty bound to ACHIEVE OPTIMUM VALUE"

Could not get away with how clever he was being pmsl (just a pity for him some people thought of it first ) :-) (y)

How is the mouth holding out now Ed?

A was thinking you missed a trick mate if you had made the appointment yesterday you would not have needed any of that "laughin' gas" via Sunday's stroll :-)

Hi Ed cheers for keeping us up to date yesterday.
With todays poll being about Bakkali, is there any hope of us getting him in the summer?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I wouldn't think so, the player made it clear he wasn't interested in the move days ago. There was never any chance of signing him.}

03 Feb 2015 07:32:10
ED, Any idea of Squad Nos for our new signings, would love GMS to take the No 7 Jersey, I see him as a winger. Hail Hail

It was always predictable some of the snipers would all of a sudden change their opinion of Deila after beating that mob.

Realistically he has achieved far better results against stronger sides, yet his merits are only recognised now by some.

Hopefully this faction will cut Deila a bit of slack now and let him do his job

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It would be silly if people change their view after a game against a dire lower league side. I think his challenge is to put up a decent performance over two games with Milan, and come out of the home games with Hamilton, Aberdeen and United with maximum points. This would be convincing evidence the team is developing as he wants it, which should make all Celtic fans delighted. I am really pleased with the signings, hopefully they will become part of a young and hungry team

Agree0 Disagree0

Groutdoc I totally agree that it is silly. i'm happy with signings too mate. They will make a difference. Did the boy duffy sign as well?

Agree0 Disagree0

Now Now DN30 don't you be a naughty bhoy lol we have had a right good long weekend mate and as things slow down a bit now most of us just want to know if you and rayman are "swapping" valentine's day cards next week pmsl :-)

Sorry Groutdoc but am not going to judge RD against Inter they have spent big time and although they are not the animal they once were IMO it is a bridge to far at this stage and furthermore if we do progress in this tournament the final itself is in Warsaw and given what has happened earlier in the season we won't be welcome there even if we got there!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Inter spent big but how many of their new signings are eligible for the EL?}

If never had a bad word to say about RD but don't u all think 5 games, 5 wins and 5 clean sheets is proof enough? It's going to take RD time to put his ideas fully into motion with the club I think after next year we will be able to see what he has achieved! We will need to bolster the defence and possibly a CF depending on what JG does.

Agree0 Disagree0

I honestly don't know Ed how many they can play in the EL a think it is you are allowed to add 1 to your original squad?but no add idea for sure!

If it is +1 a hope it is not Podolski, I see they signed someone on loan from Newcastle his misses was on tweeting that he turned it down apparently in the first place only for Mike Ghastley to FORCE it through and she tweeted to that effect only to be forced to delete it! so he must think he can play against us lol

Obviously a would love to beat Inter but if we don't get through just think we should not be to hard on RD

Agree0 Disagree0

Dn30 sorry but it's still too early to change opinions completely on ronny. He is rightly getting better praise as things are looking a little better but we are by no means fully there in my opinion. We still struggle to fully kill games off and maintain tempo for 90 minutes. Hopefully we see more improvements and if he can get past inter then maybe even more praise will be merited.ps Where would you put progress by ronny if we failed against a mid table inter Milan team?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2015 16:16:54
Jim1972 I respect your opinion, its consistent and one game has not changed it. However, there are a lot of people who have changed their view and went from slating Deila to all of a sudden he in a different light cause we beat the current tenants of ibrokes.

Our away record in Europe has been a problem for a long time, as long as we beat them at home and hold for a draw I think its achievable against a sub standard inter.

I still think it would be progress if we lost, provided we got at least double. Though I seriously think treble is high possibility

Agree0 Disagree0

It shouldn't be too early for us to change our opinion of Ronny .
Our early opinion should have realised that he had performed semi miracles in his own Country winning their league with an unfashionable team .
At Celtic he took over a Club in transition, it should be no surprise half way through the season we are points clear in the league, in a domestic cup final . Still in Europe and Cup competition, as I say Ronnie doesn't surprise me He has done a great job .

Agree0 Disagree0

Jamie no cards yet but we do have a date on Valentines to the movies. Some movie called 50 shades of green or something like that lol. DN don't know if you noticed but I changed my opinion RD before the local Derby. But we all know if we lost that game he would a got pelters. As there was so much pressure on it he would a got it much worse than the Maribor game or what Lennon got for Morton.I must admit I would a criticised him (justifiably) but I wudnt have wanted him gone.As I said I warming to him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rayman I know you did, wasnt aimed at you. Its just amazing other people who were slating him changed their opinion straight after game against that mob.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great bit of business there!

Hopefully commons signs a new deal now and then Peter lawell should spend the rest of the season trying to get denayor signed or his loan extended. Would leave a big hole if we lost him and Virgil at the same time.

Looking forward to the rest of the season now. Lots of games coming up so we should get a good look at the signings.

After having the feelgood factor from last nights dealings I was dumped a bit reading about the kid who was hit by a bottle. Way to go the big brave neanderthal that manged to throw a bottle into a van and hit a young boy on his big day out to watch the game. Troglodytes like that should crawl back under the rock the came out from. Wearing green is irrelevant, this was nothing to do with football and just plain thuggery. People must have seen this and I hope they have the guts to come forward and point this cretin out. If they don't then they are as guilty as the slug who threw the bottle.

Believable6 Unbelievable5

Well said TT. Hail Hail

Agree1 Disagree0

It only takes one nutter to divert all the headlines and focus and taint our club.
I hope the wee fella will be OK and they catch the culprit, name and shame him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can I add my disgust as well, this reprobate and his mates have dragged our club.s name into the gutter, but also more importantly ruined a young boy's first Celtic-Rangers game, this will live with him all his life, shame on you you nasty thugs, I hope he is quickly arrested and jailed. One good thing, if you can call it that, is the Celtic fan who has set up a fund for the young lad I hope lots of us decent Celtic fans support this and show our disgust and contempt for these persons.

Agree1 Disagree2

Can't believe someones disagreed with you TT, must be the same kind of person that thought throwing the bottle was a good idea.

Agree0 Disagree0

Animals plain and simple. That boy will be scared for life. We are quick enough to point the finger, disgusted. As for the joker that pressed disagree I take it you don't have kids? Or a shred of decency. Great idea for the fund for him, let's hope we aren't told to stick it. HH

Agree0 Disagree0

Just wanted to add my bit to this!

My very first Old firm game 87-88 a was 16 the "Billy Stark daisy cutter"

Our bus was running late as usual! & stupidly the driver turned into London Road at 10 to 3 we got caught right outside the door of Parkhead and into the "away fans" who quickly worked out who we were 14 of the windows went in and the bus shook while stuck in traffic plenty of police around but no one interested!

Being showered with glass crouching as low in the seat, many tried to get into the bus via the emergency exit! It was and is one of the most scariest incidents I have ever encountered & please believe me I am not the "shy, retrieving shrinking violet type"

This will live long in that wee fellows mind please believe me to the clown that did it a hope he gets a life ban at least! and then shunned by the people that knows him best!

Agree0 Disagree0

That was my first taste of the old firm games as well jamiebhoy, always remember another game when I stupidly got drunk before the game it was midweek on a November night me and three mates went and ended up taking wrong turn ended up parking in the calton area, had to walk through the Rangers fans after the fame and We were only glad for the first time ever celtic had got beaten curtosity of a Marco negri goal in the first ten mins, as all we got was a severe ribbing, and laughed at no even a single religious comment, and a was rubbishtin it to be honest, when I read about the wee boy getting hit with the bottle or the father and son who got set about outside the pub it makes me sick to to the stomach thinking about it and let's be honest they'll never get caught for there cowardice , on the way to the game we seen a guy with his Rangers top on running up the road getting bit of stick nothing serious at all and boy next to me saying look at this so n so, to which I replied ( calm down boys only going to the game, we turn the corner and the boy was running to catch up with his wife and two wee kids , Al, they were bothered about was getting to the game without hassle, why can everybody no be like the rest of us and just enjoy the day out??

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Falkirkbhoy, not that find myself agreeing with Graham Speirs that often but a think he is right in saying "there a segment in society that is getting left behind" and try to disassociate them from us sadly in this is instance it does seem to have been a Celtic fan, I am not a "gifted profiler" in any way but if a was to have an incline as to attempt to who done this it is probably some spotty/acne face pre 25 aged unemployed clown that is a wannabe that in all probably still lives at home with his parents! a bit like the guy that happy slapped duda the AC goalie, or the person that did the plane incident at Claudia Reyna they are all "much of a muchness" a will bet you right now mate he ain't the "pillar of the community type"

No limit on number on new players that can be registered .
The one limit is on those who have previously played in champions League or Europa league this season.

Great work Celtic to get both GMS & Armstrong in is fantastic. really looking forward to seeing them in the Hoops, With Duffy also in & young O'Connell signing a contract extension it's been a good few days. Really positive comments the last few days let's hope it continues and everyone get's behind RD. HH

Fantastic business from PL today.

Can somebody help me out here. I checked spfl rules. Section 58 59 and 60 (page112) basically say you can't loan more than 2 from same club. Am I reading this wrong?

{Ed007's Note - That only applies to domestic loans. We didn't bring in any loans though.}
