Watching the game today hit home how much we are missing Gary Hooper. No one led the line, held the ball up, brought others into the game etc and at least 3 times the ball ran along the 6 yard box with no takers. Stokes did very well to get his 2 goals but apart from that looked poor in possession. I can't believe we have sold our 2 best players without replacing them. Finnbogason scored 2 in Holland tonight and judging by his tweets seems keen to pull on the hoops, I hope we get in quick and get him. Ed 007 do you know why we didn't sign Hooper's replacement before the Elfsborg game? Is it price or wait and see if we qualify?
CBP {Ed007's Note - I wish I knew mate, probably a culmination of things.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cbp, holding the ball up leading the line bringing others into play are the things hooper got criticism for not doing on here and other celtic sites,, but we have won our first 4 competitive games and there are still 26 days left in the transfer window although I do agree its a huge gamble not buying another striker before the elfsborg games,,, deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Deep river, I never criticised Hooper for those things I thought he was hugely effective leading the line. The issue for me is that he played with his back to goal and none of our other strikers appear to be able to do this. There may be mileage still in the transfer window and maybe we'll still sign an adequate replacement but I think it's a hell of a gamble with the champions league game, I just hope we don't end up with egg in our face.

Good grief, just read Ally's statement today:-

'The self-acclaimed straight-talking Yorkshireman has again let himself down.

'His contempt and total lack of respect for my players, for our football club, for our support and Scottish football in general is appalling.

'If it was a threat then the self-acclaimed straight-talking Yorkshireman should know that boys from the West of Scotland don't scare easily.'

Whatever do you mean Ally, 'don't scare easily'?

Day One of the new season and who will hog the headlines tomorrow? If its not Charles Green its is equally addicted to attention seeking Club Mate Ally. He couldn't do it for footballing reasons so he does this ~ Mrs E

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Comedy gold but fair play to Sally it will deflect his woeful management 'ability' in the rags nicely.
CBP

Agree0 Disagree0

This is the weirdest 'football club' on the planet. We now look on in sheer disbelief at their antics. How anyone can continue to support this farce is beyond me. How does this person get paid 1m a year? Staggering.

Agree0 Disagree0

You could not make it up, day one is all it is of the new season DAY ONE! and we have this, beyond a joke ~ Mrs E

Agree0 Disagree0

Ally claiming that his players minds weren't on the job because of reading the story in the newspaper!
Excuse after excuse! Ally, you are a joke!

Agree0 Disagree0

The rant by McCoist after the rotten football showing yesterday by sevco is a defence mechanism. He tries to deflect attention from his managerial shortcomings to criticise another and actually blames Green for his team's performance.
The old RFC died in dirty shameful social tax dodging and £130m debt desertion. And this new club and its office bearers is a shocking stain on Scottish football on a daily basis.

Agree0 Disagree0

The headlines are all about Green and 'Coisty' with little heed to another humiliating defeat and Cup KO.

Last year the SMSM were telling Neil Lennon that anything other than a League & Cup double would be seen as a failure (this despite reaching the last 16 of the CL). This year Green sets McCoist the (perfectly reasonable, IMO) target of winning League 1 and the Ramsdens Cup and Ally comes out with his usual red-faced bluster, threats and excuses. Looks like he realises the gig is up and is working his ticket towards a fat pay-off. I hope not, though - the comedy value is top notch.

Thought it was a well deserved win, job done 3 points :-)

Ross County were always going to be well organised but they never really got out their own half particularly in the second half.

The amount of chances missed though oooffft!

I know Commons took a few short corners but I don't know if it would have made any difference putting the ball in the box, don't think we would have won much in the air. Maybe we missed Sammy but it now goes without saying a CF in a must ~ Mrs E

I though RC defended well, and overall the tic moved the ball about with confidence. It was a good test ahead of wed. Happy.

I loved today's game. Our passing in their half was pure class at times. Efe made me a bit nervous at times but I think that's been highlighted enough. Can't wait to see Big Dirk in action again, I bet he will have us singing to the rafters in no time. What a great opening day. HH

Admittedly arrived late at game today and seen about twenty minutes of the dutch lad, never seen anything special before he limped off, I'm a bit concerned considering he was known as sick note at his previous clubs. Stevie

Agree0 Disagree0

He was exciting, pacy, tricky, constantly getting himself into good positions to score, had 3 or 4 attempts on goal and his link up play and passing and moving was impressive. What exactly is it you were expecting to see in 20 minutes of a debut? FFS talk about hard to please. He was jogging down the touchline after his knock, which tells me he could if needed have went back on but they took him off as a precaution ahead of Wednesday. One persistent back injury in his career that lasted on and off for a year and he's tagged with sick note forever, bit harsh if you ask me. I've now seen the highlights of him getting his knock yesterday and it definitely looked a sore one to me. Rolled his ankle kicking the back if Kovacevic's heel as he was about to score. Never mind, maybe he'll play on Wednesday with ankle ligament damage, score a first half hat trick, set up 3 for Samaras and top it off by dribbling from the edge of our box up the park and launching a left foot strike from the half way line over their keeper and in off the underside of the crossbar to earn your approval lol

Admittedly I may have taken that a bit far Stevie mate but your pessimism is a bit irritating.

Agree0 Disagree0

He threw himself immediately into the game he was fast, clever and was in all the right places when needed. Yes, he did go off but I think it's very unfair to slate him for that, he took a knock trying his heart out to score for the Hoops on his debut. He looks a menacing figure and I am genuinely excited about wathing him in action this season : )

Above un named poster I find it a bit irritating that you can't put a name to your post, anyway all I was saying was it didn't look good with the history this guy has of seemingly feigning injuries and asking to be taken off with previous clubs, I do think he's a talented player but time will tell if his heart's really in it. G93 {Ed007's Note - An hour? Seriously??}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Haha come on ED, nah just pointing out that he got subbed again today, must only get paid for 60 minutes work most Saturdays, its very rare he plays a full 90 minutes. My brother seems to think he has only completed 2 games for us since he arrived, probably not far off.

Hi Ed - any idea if Sissoko from Kilmarnock is still available as a free agent? Probably not a Celtic starter, but if we hadn't signed Mouyokolo (or needed another backup) he would be a good squad player IMO. (I am not saying we need him - I feel we have enough CBs and if K Wilson does leave, we would need a starter). Suspect he is better than Ambrose. jean-Pierre Laguerre {Ed007's Note - Yeah JPL, he is still unattached. That's a decent shout for a squad player.}

i know boeriggter only had around 35mins on the park but it was very encouraging in terms of what he showed in that time. He may well prove to be a new more direct dimension to our play. let's hope its little more than an ankle swelling he picked up and that he doesn't end up jinxed by his so called sicknote name

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Had he not twisted the ankle I'm convinced Derk would have had a couple of debut goals today. We must have had a dozen crosses in the second half into the positions he had been attacking . Very promising.

Commons and mulgrews passing at points were top notch, new bhoy looks like what we've been missin on the left, spitting image of van persie. HH

Got to say fair play to stokes today took a lot of criticism recently including myself but defo dug us out a hole today just hope he can put it to another level liked the look of boerrigter when he was on just hopw his comments on his injuries don't come back to haunt him and us because looks like he could really do a job one thing that irks me just now and I don't know if uz all agree or not but what the thing recently with bringing watt on to play on the left imo yes he tries but surely if bringing him on then he should play through the middle as I said just my opinion all in all good to get 3 points and great to get league up and running again just hope for big improvement for wednesday or could be a long night hail hail

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree he's a striker not a left winger. He also had height so would be target. He looked uninterested out there but had to fit today's system. I did think he should be a bit leaner. Is he carrying a bit weight. Rumoured bad trainer. But I like the guy in his natural position

I thought it weird having Watt on the left and Commons through the middle, I would have swopped them round although I thought Watt had a decent game today. mark

Agree0 Disagree0

Does deep river stand for one annoying c££nt. I did see him score but he wasn't a constant goal threat which is my point. Also I'm certainly not stupid I'm entitled to my opinion as are u so I will stick to it.

Agree0 Disagree0

You can have a opinion but it is wrong haha
Andybhoy73

Agree0 Disagree0

Stu88pid, so you would rather see him constantly threatening the goal rather than score, since arriving he has scored 49 in 108 games and had 24 assists, hooper is the only player to score more and commons give more assists and that was with him missing most of last season with injury and never being lennys first choice I think that is a good return from him, I've said on here before people still hold it against him for going to sunderland a few years back and imo he doesn't deserve the all criticism he gets, out of curiosity are you one of the supporters who have written balde off before seeing him in competitive action,,,, deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

No I've never said anything about balde he's not played. I said no goal threat striker now. Stokes popped up with one strike and a tap in. let's see who is right at end of the season. Anyone who disagrees with you you call them stupid. You clearly are a strange individual.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2013 21:50:37
Stokes could score against spl teams day in day out but at a higher level ( cl ) absolutely no use not clinical enough against spl teams we are on the attack maybe 80% of the game not the case in cl u get a third of the chances at that level and sorry to say he isn't at that level!

Agree0 Disagree0

Stu88pid, you are the first person I've called stupid on here for disagreeing with me, and probably the first since primary school, but do you not realise that a tap in and strike secured the points while commons threatened the goal all day, if you don't like stokes fair enough I can't be arsed trying to change your mind but as a celtic player who has an average of 2.2 goals ratio and won the game for us today can you not give him some credit or does your dislike for him prevent that, if you can't then let's just draw a line under this discussion,,,, deep river bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Deep river bhoy you pretentious everybody must listen to me and my opinions always right and disagree and I will call you stupid. At no point did the guy day he disliked stokes. He said no goal threat striker now. I think you are being petty there are loads of posts on here about stokes which you haven't commented on or called them stupid and loads of posts calling for a striker. You clearly love yourself too much. person

Agree0 Disagree0

No name fud,, yes I do love myself, do you not love yourself, have I stated that i'm always right or even claim to be always right, I give an opinion and if anybody doesn't like it fair enough, I have also said on here we need another striker and disagreed with people about doyle, also I said to the guy IF you don't like stokes, but the reason for calling the guy stu 88 stupid was he said commons was our main threat when stokes had put us back in the game and then won us the game, I also said I thought the last time I called somebody stupid was in primary school but I wasnt expecting a primary school child reply,,, deep river bhoy

Ambrose is an absolute bomb scare and Izzy just isn't improving
Kevbhoyo

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree. I've been posting izzy comments for ages. He's not the player he was since he broke his leg.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ambrose made one mistake 10 mins into second half when he should have put the ball out instead of trying to skin thier attacker. Other than that his reading of the game was excellent. Too much negativity surrounding the boy. Stokes has just hit his second as I'm typing, agree that another striker is needed though. If Stokes got injured we would struggle for goals. For me Watt is not Celtic class and won't be. He didn't do much wrong today but I thought the boy Boreigtier looked a class above before going off. James Forrest is a good player but needs to hit the by line more and create more opportunities for Stokes, Commons etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

Magic brace for stokes
What a rite pair of willows op and responder,

Agree0 Disagree0

I still stand by original post. To turn round and sat Ambrose only made one mistake in the match you obviously missed the 1st 5 minutes of the game. He dallied rather than punting it out of the park annd that lead to County scoring a minute later. He then yet again had a free header at a corner and put it into row z. He again made his usual i'm a player move in the 2nd half and some of his clearing headers are rubbish.
We did play well in the most part today but we should be scoring 6 or 7 goals in a game we dominated as much
Kevbhoyo

Agree0 Disagree0

Kevbhoyo I did actually miss the first few minutes lol but from what I seen today I didn't think Ambrose was that bad. Ross County came with a game plan, they had 5 at the back and were there to defend the full game. On another day we could have had 2 or 3. I think to score 5, 6 or 7 goals you need a cutting edge in the last third. We didn't really have that today. I don't think Stokes is to blame, he is there to score goals and that's what he did today with very little service, apart from Commons. Forrest should hit the by line more instead of always looking to cut in and shoot. Same should be expected from the full backs, get up and support and get crosses into the box to create chances for the forwards, especially against Ross County who presented virtually no attacking threat. Hope we get a quality striker to challenge Stokes for the no.1 striker role, not sure Balde is that good yet, still looks raw but I hope the fans give him time to find his feet and he gets some game time in the league. For me a left back is a must. Izzy looks a shadow of the player he was. I would rather Matthews started there. I know Mulgrew can play there too, not his strongest position though.

Sat watching the match and have been impressed by a few of our bhoys. Common's passing is fantastic, Boerrigter looks like a find and just what we need on the left so izzy can concentrate on defending. The most worrying thing for me at the moment is Ambrose, the guy is not Celtic quality. Well first day of a new season and the Champs unfurl the flag . A few tasty games today and tomorrow and everything to play for . Celtic and St Johnstone still in Europe and looking good for play off rounds . Majority of clubs reporting healthy sales of season tickets . Plenty for the Media to cover . But wait . What's that coming over the hill . Jack Irvines Media House really has went into overdrive . This has been cleverly orchestrated to overshadow everything I mentioned previously . A desperate cub using even more desperate measures for attention . It's really sad the way a 2nd div club can have such a hold on the media in this little country . I don't think there will be many 3rd div games on telly this year . Also seen online that 2 zombie reporters in The have taken them to win the league cup this season . You will not be surprised to know that no one has took Celtic to win the treble . Please NL prove them wrong . DH

Chucky returns yesterday to the dismay of the Sevco support.

Media today with the positive spin/fantasy about Jim McColl getting involved in Sevco again.

Nothing confirmed or official, just sh*te to make the gullible forget about the return of the the Yorkshire pudding on the scene.

Every single time they get bad news the media make up some absolute sh*te to counter it the very next day. Everytime, and its so blatantly obvious it's embarrassing.

It's not even an exaggeration to say if I had a quid for everytime I have heard a rumour, media story or a whisper from a mate who's in the know that Jim McColl was going to buy into Rangers I would have a Ferrari Maranello sitting in my driveway.

Are these hacks really as lazy ad they say and can't come up with something original to lie about. Even missing a day before the inevitable positive media spin would be a refreshing change of pace. F@nnies!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If McColl is getting involved then he's telling the business community he's back tracking and missed the initial trick of buying the assets. Now to spend much more buying shares. Doesn't sound like him. I think McColl discovered Whyte had a charge/ security over the assets and he steered clear. Green was in with Whyte so the security didn't matter.
KJ regularly prints stuff that doesn't transpire to be true.

Greeny baws doesn't want in the premier league.
But he won't leave till he hears champions league music at ibrokenrustbucket. That'll be listening to Celtic games on t'radio then.
The lists published of that guy's out and out lies were lengthy and incredible.

Media outlet reporting the following:
Coventry City won the FA cup in 1987 and was also responsible for football legend Jimmy Hill.
Today, it may have written a new chapter in its history: its extinction.

It then goes on to say it could restart in the bottom tier as a Phoenix club like Glasgow Rangers.

So there we have it TRFC is a Phoenix club started again. Everybody knows it, that's why no club wants liquidation.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That article goes on to state aldershot, Newport county, Chester city and accrington Stanley are all Phoenix clubs and if you visit their website/ check their club badges they have their reformed dates on them. 1998, 1989, etc.
One club has its founded date as original with (reformed 1998) afterwards.
RFC was founded 1872 (reformed 2012) this should be shown on club descriptions with SPFL, SFA, Wikipedia, etc.as per all the other clubs that have been liquidated.

Agree0 Disagree0

The biggest and most important thing in the RFC history was liquidation. It's the end all event, bigger than a champions league win. Imagine Barcelona were liquidated, bigger more important event than winning anything.

According to Keevins Rangers will "canter the league" this season. When will he stop spouting pure rubbish JK

Neil Lennon has identified two strikers he would like to bring in. With Boerrigter almost certain to be a regular starter, this must mean Samaras will be moved forward this season, as Lennon cannot afford to leave him out of the team. This means that Stokes will be pushed onto the bench, Tony Watt will go out on loan, and Hooper's replacement will be partnered with Samaras. The other striker will probably be a squad player as then we would have Stokes, Samaras, Amido, Hooper's replacement and the other striker. Pecking order = 1) Hooper's replacement 2) Samaras 3) Stokes 4) Amido 5) Backup/squad player

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dont really agree mate.I think Lenny will tinker with the shape of the team to keep it fresh. Sammi will probably be rested before European games for a start and I think he will try and implement a three at the back in most games. Todays line up will be interesting. green jhedi

Why have people put balde so far down the pecking order? He's no even played a proper game yet give him time.

see wee sneaky at it again moaning about hearts not being fined however they were he really is a despicable individual who will do anything to deflect form his lack of ability and to appeal to the masses in a last ditch attempt to get st sold

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He hasn't commented on the Dundee game

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe that we sneaky days might be numbered as he is on a monthly review with results driven as he has cost the new club and old club millions in revenue with his poor record in cups

Agree0 Disagree0

Green did a deal with SFA for the one year ban. After the high court judge over ruled Nimmo smith. Mathers and McCoist shouting about the ban in relation to hearts is going off message and green needs to get back in there.
I'm convinced Whyte owns the assets. He said everyone knows there's a charge there over them (the assets). Whyte wants a million a year and green says it'll take ten years to get rid of him (£10m?).

Agree0 Disagree0

That vomiting article on Mathers in pre season Germany written by HK in that Sunday rag. I needed a shower afterwards. Now the supposedly true fans want rid of Mathers, HK looks utterly foolish.
All ST paid up deady bears are all looking totally gullible.
Will Green sign these eight players in September?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ally can do no wrong in their fans eyes, suppose he managed (kinda) to get them up from division 3 to league 1 in 12 months. miracle!

Agree0 Disagree0

@5) lol I thought it was SFA grade1 referees in the fourth tier (rangers only) games that did that. And restructuring of the leagues.

Agree0 Disagree0

Theres a rumour floating about that they actually asked the SFA for a (50k) fine instead of some of the other sanctions that they were about to e applied.
Anybody know if that's correct?
