As much as I want Wanyama to stay, I get the feeling if Arsenal want him its because he has been touted about by his agent probably for 6 to 7 million max. I think Song is linked to Barca in a 13-16 million deal, I can't see Arsenal spending 10M+ on Wanama especially with the state of the SPL at the moment. Definately think the boy will be a star in the game and hope we make it to the group stage of CL to entice him.to stay.
What's your thoughts ed? Do you think Arsenal would offer us players plus cash or do you think there's a chance other teams might get involved in the bidding, e.g Chelsea, Liverpool, City or Utd which may push the price up? {Ed007's Note - I can't see Arsenal giving us any players as part of the deal. I said in another thread that I am hoping that other teams come in for Wanyama, there is a lot of interest in him, it's just whether other teams follow it up with offers.}

I'm getting fed up of English clubs thinking our players can be got for half their value, we should be more like tottenham and say yes they can go, but we want £?million and they ain't goin anywhere until that value is met!

How many fans remember this old song?
Aye, Aye , Aye we are the Glasgow Celtic
Wherever we go, we fear no foe,
For we are the Glasgow Celtic.
Aye, Aye, Aye Simpson is better than Yashin
Yogi is better than Uesebio,
and Johnstone is better than Anyone

i see the rags are still at it. yesterdays markings and reporting of the celtic game had us struggling, shooting ourselves in the foot, uphill struggle etc....players being given 4 & 5/10, even though we won, in europe, in our first competitive match.....then today, dundee utd, after drawing and throwing away the lead TWICE get an abundance of praise and much back slapping, while their players all deserve 7's & 8/10

anti celtic agenda??? nah, shoooorly no

lol!!!

rangers fans now want to claim titles frrom the war years { how f***** desperate is that.. posted on the dark side why this is wrong. but lets all celebrate the life of WILLIAM ANGUS V.C. born in armadale 1888 {ironic} celtic player. wounded 40 times saving his captain . this guy was a true hero of the british army. and yet the sevco want to steal his glory. thats another trophy we have that they dont a V.C . Shamrock...leave them too it. There's a massive big black cloud to go with their wee 5 black stars now. Keep them, strip them, think I'm past caring. They've been found out, humiliated, liquidated and completely undiginified with not a shred of remorse in this whole sorry mess ~ Mrs E

Agree4 Disagree2

Shamrock, Mrs E there is a Celtic supporters club named after another VC medal holder. The club is based around Gorbals area and called The James Stokes VC Celtic Supporters Club.
Hope someone from that club or knows about Mr Stokes can give us more details.

Good evening ed. Do you know the fee being spoke about for wanyama ? I will be severely gutted as he's the most exciting prospect we've had and have become in love with the guy lol I hope it's over 10m as we would be robbing our club as funds

What do we think our players values are in the transfer mark, say to EPL clubs?

I think we're undervaluing Ki at £7M?

Izzy - £9M
Kayal - £9M
Hooper - £12M
Wanyama - £15M
Ledley - £9M
Forrest - £15M
Mathews - £7M
Stokes - £7M

Bear in mind the offers clubs have already submitted ie Russians for Stokes.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Love it to be true but very unrealistic. This is the Scottish league im afraid and bids will reflect that.Sell ons are a possibility, but only for the younger players.from the top i would say: 6m..6m...6m...7-9m....5m....7m.....7m...4m.............green jhedi

Agree2 Disagree3

Not close with any, but Forrest in particular 15 mil! No chance, there's Spanish internationals goin for less, get real! L1888

Agree3 Disagree0

Did you not mean 1.5 for forrest ,,,,deep river bhoy

Agree3 Disagree4

Seem to be a tad ambitious with your values .... I'd say 5-6-6- Wanyama is worth 15 but whether or not we get it ?..9 for Ledley yes ...Forrest maybe 6/7....5 and Stokes is worth as much as Hooper ..only thing that would value Hooper more is he might make the English team ... I doubt it to be honest but ... TTTS

Agree0 Disagree1

TTTS 5-6-6 is that the formation newgers will have to play every week in order to get promoted every season? ... sorry couldnt resist.

Sadly we live in an age where overhyped scottish based players are nowhere near the value of the overhyped English based players. I feel 6-7 mil for each of them is about the limit. For it to go any higher we really need to make an inroad in europe. This said competition for the player may drive this up. We may feel certain players are worth more and in reality they are when you compare it to the fees payed for others around the globe but sadly we are a backwater league in the eyes of our main selling market and therefore we have to take knockdown prices.

Hopefully with more compeetition in the league now and more different teams getting exposed (albeit most likely briefly) to euro footy we may see more parity restored at somepoint.

Wanyamma worth £15 million, Hooper £ 12 million, Ledley £ 9 million etc - what planet are you lot on? Ledley and Matthews were soooooo spectacular with Cardiff that all the EPL clubs were queueing up to splash the cash, but these guys chose Celtic instead? The bottom has fallen out of the transfer market AND the EUFA rules on wages -v- turnover ratio means that clubs are looking for much cheaper options. Anywhere between £4 and £6 million for any player in the SPL might be seen as being 'worth a punt' but anything above would be spending money for un-proven players. Besides if ther was any chance of these guys being worth that sort of money Lawwell would have punted them at the first chance.

Agree2 Disagree3

If we are going to have our too players picked up for less than there worth we must make sure there's sell on clauses in all there contracts! If any club wants big vic ad sart bidding at 10mill he's young and under contract so let's see who wants him that bad!

Good Morning ED007, just looking at our teams performances in Europe
so far and what it does to Scotland's co efficient. St Johnstone, Dundee Utd both drew so get 1 co efficient point each, Celtic's win earns 2 co efficient points, so we have earned 4 co efficient points so far with more, hopefully to come.
Hearts have not entered yet either, so Scotland could get an unexpected boost co efficient wise this season. Celtic in particular need good co efficient points this season to boost our own rankings. The SPL is not down and out, despite all the doom mongers.
Hail hail Timalloy {Ed007's Note - The projected meltdown by some quarters hasn't really materialised yet has it Tim? Remember there would be no TV deal, advertisers would be 'walking away' etc etc yet the world is still turning while life goes on. Plus even if Utd, Motherwell etc go out it makes a dent in any shortfall in income without 2 home games against Rangers, count in the lower matchday costs to the club and financially there won't be much of a loss and they have a better chance of European qualification again next year.}

I see ESPN have announced a new deal as well...

I would have thought Lenny would have brought James McFadden and maybe a couple of other EPL released players (Hargreaves-Heskey-Owen) to Lennoxtown for a trials and check on their fitness.
We need someone with experience and the cash doesnt seem to flowing at the moment. As for Jordan RHodes I doubt we can keep up with the financial clout of some of the EPL clubs that are intersted.

Dont slaughter me for these comments, just a few ideas which are free and maybe of some use ;)

I think the wages would be out of our reach tbh. would take hargreaves on a pay as you play as ive always rated him, wouldnt let heskey serve me ma pie , owen still thinks hes better than championship and spl level........ bhoywonder.
