Does anyone else think that what Basel have achieved in Europe over the past few years has been incredible considering the amount of money that they have?

Dont you think we should have a look at how they go about their business if we want to improve as a team?

We could do with a couple of their players, Stocker and Schar most notably. Seriously though, they probably just reinvest in the side the correct way, and bring in the necessary quality.

We need to be ourselves, work within our own budget.

When we won the European Cup, we were not modelling ourselves on another Club. Yeah, Basel have a high ranking but Clubs were comparing themselves to us last season and looking at our structure etc.

Their fans are locked out of as well.

@2 when we won the european cup football was completely different, players didn't cost £80&£90M and earn £1.5M per month it was more of an even keel. So its a bad day when a club such as basle are more stronger than us. This little country is a fail and they still want top dollar to watch utter dross, ., .kbarry

Kbarry, Basel don't seem to own their own stadium, it's that the way we want to go? They change much the same prices as Celtic for matches and I do not know anyone that tunes into Swiss football.

This Country might be a 'fail' but I don't support Basel or any of these teams and is it really as simple as just copying another Club, if it is then why not Benfica?

Your right though about money and I don't think Celtic can afford to reduce matchday income

Basel lol good one

In last 2 seasons basel have spent combined just over £16 m, and received in transfers just over £40 m, Europa semi finals last year and looking good for it this year they seem to be doing ok with their own structure

I'll need to take your word for it John, no idea about their transfers.

I know they didn't qualify for the CL last season but as you say, a very good run in the Europa.

With kayal saying he wants to leave in the summer and samaras also leaving who else would you guys like to be sold and who would you like to see the money re-invested in. My opinion is a marquee attacking midfielder, commons is not natrually a player who can split open a defence with a pass he has a very good shot with both feet from in and around the box but if we want to play a diamond which by NL's team selections in recent weeks we do we really do need an attacking midfelder, I would also like to see us go in for either cedric mongongu from evian thoron or marco caputo to partner Van dijk at the back and a proven goalscorer said it before but he's a wee bit out of our price range but jelle vossen from genk is absolutely top class don't know how he's not in the prem already, any thoughts on who you'd like to see signed?

I’m not going to pretend I watch all the various different leagues so not sure who some of the players are Reece. Totally agree though, I would like to see another decent centre half brought in. Efe has been caught a few times but so has VVD against decent European teams and Aberdeen.

Still want to see a striker brought in and would splash the cash for this position, for Europe I think we always need more of a midfielder who can break up play although a bit of creativity certainly would not go amiss although we could have that with Johansen. Him and Biton are starting to look the part.

The only player I know much about and would like to see signed is Stuart Armstrong from Dundee Utd, he’s such a mature player for his age.

I really don't see why some supporters rate nir Biton he has shown very little since signing for us 20 appearances with 15 of those coming as a sub or not finishing matches. To me he can only play tidy 5-10 yard passes in a holding position which would be fine if we didn't have Scott brown so I only see him continuing to be a bit part player only to be used when Scott brown is rested, injured or suspended.

Like you Jim, I've not seen much of him either to really form an opinion and I don't know if I would say that I 'rate him' just yet.

He seems to have taken his time adjusting to the game here and I was quite impressed with him at the Inverness game in particular (I know they are no Bayern Munich) but you could still see he could read the game and was quick to provide defensive cover. As I said he's just starting to look the part and maybe with a decent run in the team, we'll see more to have a better opinion.

A striker is still priority for me!
