I see some of the zombie nation are still clinging desperately to the Celtic name change in 94 as evidence that "Celtic are a newco too!".

Same company number equals same company. No liquidation equals no break in the history.

That is all.

Too late Mac,it's like banging your head off a really thick wall............. green jhedi

It's embarrassing though how every time they get bad news they resort back to that patter lol can't think of anything new even though the facts are there for all to see.

Not really that excited about the result tonight. A Premier League team beat a Third Division club convincingly - asno big surprise there then

Believable8 Unbelievable0

When you consider the budget Fat sally has he should be getting to 1 cup final, Ramsdens, League etc.

Incidentally anyone notice that when they play a minnow (Queens Park) they attract 49,000, yet when they play an SPL team (ICT) they only attract 28,000! Glory hunters

If oldco now liquidated how come new club is allowed to continue pretending to b same, strip/ badge/colours etc. Woolworths went to the wall n a worker tried starting up teaking name to wellworths but got bombed out for obvious reasons. Ed, what's the difference here? Stevo dundee {Ed007's Note - They have not been liquidated yet, they have exited administration and are now in the liquidation process.}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

The woolworths example is a little different (a lot different) Woolworths owners set up a a completely different company that had a different company no etc to handle the internet business. When the Highstreet company went under it had no connection to the internet business and was already established.

The Rangers is completely different. There was undoubtably only one legal and financial organisation. The idea that the club is separate is nonsense. Who paid players wages. Who were the "Club " officers etc. It would be possible to set up a holding company to hold assets similar to Leeds and Southampton. But that did not happen. (Or the assets would not have been included in the sale).

While OLDCO were in existence, they could license NEWCO to use the name, badges etc. Now they gone that can not stand.

Rangers have attempted to switch names. OLDCO did change their name and NEWCO appear to have taken on OLDCO's name. This would seem to be completely illegal. But some one would have to make a complaint. I'm not sure if Rangers can keep the name and badge. That would be up to a court to decide. If one of the creditors or BDO challenged the use of the old name, I would expect them to eventually be successful.

Regardless of what they are called, they have no history, no titles, etc. and their next win will be their first. Of course supporters can allocate history where they like....... in their heads.

Do you think we will see headlines like this in the rags tomorrow. I doubt it.

Good point @2 exactly how bad must Motherwell have been that night. I mean f*ck me, they got a roasting off those no hopers who got a hiding tonight off another bunch of no hopers.

As much as I dislike Butcher, it shows he has more integrity and professionalism than the shamefull ginger whinger at Motherwell.
Of course it was also a very public job application by Butcher for Sevco manager...

Been condemned to watch The rangers here with my godson while his folks take the wee ones out for halloween.Has anybody heard this commentator guy called Tom? It is a laugh a minute,it seems every time McCulloch backs into a centre half,and falls,it is a foul.Now he's babbling on about the Hibs keeper doing a Forster and pulling the ball out from THREE yards behind the line! 0-1 ICT which means the wee man gets the half time chips n dips,so it's all good!.......... green jhedi {Ed007's Note - It's even better now at 2-0!}

Believable5 Unbelievable0

@ED007; And just got better! Another master tactical stroke from Ally,Kyle on,honestly what can you say............. green jhedi {Ed007's Note - Get that 25 year contract signed ASAP! No wonder they are begging Smith to come back, at least he would have parked the bus tonight against a better class of opposition. Will Sally never learn ;-)

Agree4 Disagree0

@ED007; On a serious note mate,Green is starting to get caught between a rock and a hard place.He jumped on the ally the hero bandwagon and it looks like it's just not gonna work out.Can he flip him before the share issue?Will that happen now after the hiccups in the BDO handover?Who would take the job?I think sir walter of cardigan is too shrewd to walk into this mess as manager............ green jhedi {Ed007's Note - No manager with any ambition or credibility would touch the job with a bargepole unless he is long term unemployed (Whyte had Billy Davies lined up for the job but didn't make it to the summer to put that plan in place).
There is no way someone like Butcher or McCall would leave their current job to go and manage a club in the 4th tier of Scottish football, both of them are very comfortable where they are.
McCoist has proven since day one that he is tactically naive and there must now even be serious questions asked over his man-management as well as his ability to motivate players. Like you say GJ, Green saw how The Rangers fans hung on every word McCoist said so used that to gain support, it has now backfired to the point he is publicly begging a man that opposed his takeover for help.
The whole story at Rangers and now The Rangers has been a complete shambles from start to finish but I can't say I am not enjoying what's happening to them. Where have I heard that before?????}

Agree1 Disagree0

Bang on with the managers call.Worst case scenario for mccoist is a hangover against Alloa.I would think it might be a nervy crowd for that game and it seems Alloa are a decent ball playing side.Watching it,it is very noticeable that the gap between defence-midfield and attack is enormous,at times tonight it was 25 yds,so a team that bring the ball out will get some joy.What puzzles me is mcdowall.This guy was very highly regarded at Celtic but it seems he is lost at ibrox. It is nice to see that creepy bell character with the strangely black hair suffering though!.............green jhedi {Ed007's Note - The fact that Bell is anywhere near the place speaks volumes of the public image the club wishes to portray and the mindset of the fans they are trying to attract. I would rather make Legless his cocktails all night than even say hello to Bell. A totally horrible and despicable creation, I wouldn't even call it a man TBH. Sadly the 'cost-cutting' never reached down to the level he steals air from.}

Chico please take note....

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Why did ticketus give whyte the money ?
in this big big world there are no coincidences. ask any cop.
this is so obviously a conspiracy. the players miscalculated though and never dreamt div 3 would happen, take a bow scottish football fans.
there doesnt need to be a connection between green and whyte, they both play this game and they know the rules, but amazingly there is.
the job was to switcheroo the assets away from the creditors and leave as little behind as possible in the way of cash. so old rangers assets go to new rangers for 5.5m which is a loan to be payed back. d+p get 3.3m and pretend to sue collyer bristow. meanwhile ticketus say nought! whyte connected to all players.
no way can this shower be fast tracked back to the spl. green looks like a buffoon because hes not what he seems.
let the foolish keep on funding this nonsense, at least the rest of get a laugh.

Just thawed out overnight after the game and thought we,in patches,played some really good stuff. On 5-6 occasions we had some lovely one touch plays and had controlled possession for almost all of the game.Commons was as good as his word and seemed determined to erase the Killie game early,Broonie was outstanding,a real leader and made sure the tempo was kept high,Hooper was on his toes all night and young watt has,for me,done enough to be a first pick.I think Lustig deserves a special mention also,great energy and a willingness to constantly support the man ahead,influenced by Danny McGrain perhaps? So no failures.This is now the level of performance we are asking for.Some days it wont work but as long as the effort is put in then i wont complain. So do we want The rangers in the next round? For me no,i would rather ICT put them out tonight as i think a season break fro nostilities might be a good thing..............green jhedi

Ally McCoist -

'He's certainly pushing the club forward. We haven't had someone in that position that's going to stand up for the club for a good while. As I've said on numerous occasions, there are one or two things that Charles and I will disagree on. But it's fresh and good to see, knowing that we've all got an ally that will stand up and fight the club'

Stand up for the club against who, what has happened that was no a consequence of RFC's own action ?

Charles Green -

'However, the club as it now stands as part of The Rangers Football Club Ltd, has been informed by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs that any decision by the First Tier Tax Tribunal will not affect the operations of The Rangers Football Club Ltd. The Rangers Football Club Ltd is a company free of external debt and all liabilities relating to oldco are a matter for the administrators'

'We were thrown out of the SPL, they stole our money that we were due from the previous season. There was money due to Rangers football club from Sky and part of the Sky Cheque was for finishing second in the league. That money has never been paid over and has been kept by the SPL. For me it is very difficult to forgive and forget, added Green. And I'm going to deal with these issues as I can over the next few years'

So just so I understand, he wants money due to old RFC..a club he had nothing to do with but not any of the debt, Is this kind of ignorance for real ?

Mrs E

Believable7 Unbelievable0

@Mrs E; This amazes me."Thrown out of the SPL" Because the club you bought had no money to pay an enormous list of creditors Glinty and was being liquidated. "stole our money" Err your money? You are The rangers not rangers.Your club has never played in the SPL so that money should be in the creditors pot.Oh,wait i forgot,you seem to think that it's okay to walk away from possibly £94 MILLION of debt as your a new club,but you think you are due cash owed to the liquidated club? Why on earth has a reporter not questioned this warped logic? ............green jhedi

Agree7 Disagree0

By rights the money due to the oldco should be forwarded to the tax-man, it was the tax-man's cash that kept our now defunct rivals going until the end of last season gaining a unfair advantage over the rest of the league who paid tax. johnbhoy79

Ed i was just looking at some of the posts as i havent been on for a while. Noticed a post about the Greenbrigade being harassed by the police. First of all i would like to say that they do create a great atmosphere at parkhead during normal league games. However I seen members of the greenbrigade in Barcelona who shamed Celtic football club and its fans. It seemed to me everywhere i went Celtic fans seemed to be mixing with locals and the atmosphere was amazing. Just before kick of we were singing along together with the Barca fans and to me a really special bond was being formed. However as i approched the stadium members of the Greenbrigade decided to all walk up a quiet road stopping on coming cars shouting abuse at the drivers and in some cases slapping the cars. Before singing if you hate the Barca clap your hands. I then said to one of the guys its the other mob who go on like that not us. Only to be hit with a load of abuse. Really hope you post this Ed as i want to point out that certain members of the greenbrigade do let the club down and maybe guys with in the brigade should do something to prevent such behaviour. Thx Paderbhoy {Ed007's Note - How do you know the supporters were part of the GB? If CFC fans were singing if you hate the Barca clap your hands I would be leading the choir Pader, I can't stand them in the slightest and the love in that football is having with them just now actually makes me feel like that little bit of sick in you bring up in your mouth that you need to swallow again quickly.....can I stop clapping yet?}

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Singing they hate Barca is fair enough(although i prefer them to anything Jose M is involved with) but shouting abuse and slapping cars is a no-no. How do you know it was Green brigade though?

Just wonderd what it is you dislike about barca ed? I for one have not had a warm welcome like that at an away game for as long as i can remember. Every one is i. ntiltled to their own opinion but i see no reason for our fans not to like barca. They hate rangers to thats good enough for me

Peter cardiff {Ed007's Note - Growing up reading about CFC it was always Real Madrid that played a big part in our history and then my dad took me on a tour of the Bernabeu not long after it was refurbished for the 1982 World Cup. Supporting Barca is just the 'in thing' at the minute in football, like AC Milan was in the 80's, Ajax were in the 70's. Remember when Newcastle were flying high in the Premiership under Keegan or Blackburn won it...... when was the last time you saw someone in a Newcastle or Blackburn top? They have been replaced with Man City or Chelsea tops. It's mostly just a fad that is led by the saturation of football on TV. The most popular team in Germany by a country mile is Bayern Munich yet ever since Murdo MacLeod signed for Dortmund I have preferred them. Eventually Barca will be replaced by someone else as the 'best team in the world' and their worldwide appeal will wane.}

ED007, I think OP was referring to the Celtic fans reputation for friendlieness. I have no knowledge of anything the GB (or others) did in Spain. But whatever bunch, if wearing Celtic colours and acting in a hooligan way should be condemned by us all.
Celtic fans make friends everywhere we go, and we police ourselves. I have witnessed first hand, so called "fans" being told to toe the line by other Celtic fans.
We are Celtic, we welcome other fans and their traditions. OK have a wind up with Barca fans like chant Real Madrid ( I myself did this years ago) but keep it friendly.
other fans go abroad to argue and fight, Celtic fans go abroad to support our team, but have a pint and a laugh with other supporters.
Every time I have went away with Celtic, I have come back with new friends, that is OUR CELTIC WAY. hail hail Timalloy

He was outstanding from the first minute mate. I hope all the doubters of the past are appreciating what he brings to the table now. Easily 1 of our most important players, no question. As per norm when a Rangers fan tries to post on the Celtic so called BANTER page You ED dont post it, I even remeber my good luck messages before your euro games and you dont post, though all day every day you let celtic fans post and slag every aspect of rangers, the rangers site if full of Celtic fans slagging us off, so what is your problem?

and is there some sort of agenda going on here? {Ed007's Note - Do you mean The Rangers? If yes then it's quite simple, the agenda is your post needs to be a rumour or banter, relevant to the thread, add something at least half intelligent to the thread and if you can track down your birth certificate to get your name it helps no end and there is no need to pretend to be a CFC fan, your grandkids will be anyway.
99.99% of The Rangers posts I get read like they were written by a drunk 13yr old, just like yours so they get deleted, what I am saying is that your patter is pi$$ poor, my 4 year old nephew has a better sense of humour (especially when it comes to laughing at The Rangers).
Obviously moaning faced pointless garbage like your posts gets deleted. I hope that clears things up for you, if you have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask but I am not helping you with your homework.
You do actually have the brain capacity to understand there is more than one editor don't you? I was at the match tonight so your post must have been REALLY bad or idiotic if even a neutral Ed deleted it.
Feel free to find another site, I have better things to do with my time than read the rubbish you have tried to post.}
