Ed, do you reckon Armstrong will be offered a new deal and Rogic will be offered a better deal or do you see both moving on?

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed007's Note - I think both of them will be offered new deals but I'd be surprised if either of them stay. Armstrong is (I'm hoping was) looking to move on and if the rumours are true about Rogic being offered a contract that is heavily performance based I expect him to refuse it and be sold.}

01 Apr 2018 00:39:24
If it's performance based only it might cost us! If game time is drafted in, we are parting ways. The pair of them leaving is massive but I can see it happening. On thier day they can be the best on the park. It's a worry for me anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Apr 2018 01:19:27
Cheers for the insight Ed, both on top form are great but both need to stay fit and focused for that.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Both will be hard to replace if they leave, especially Armstrong for me.}

01 Apr 2018 09:44:18
It's going to be a big blow losing both as although they have both been hampered by injury this season, when they are on song, we play slicker, more incisive football and both carry a goal threat.
McGregor can fill-in and do a job, but like Forrest, he tends to peak and trough too frequently during a season and needs support.
Christie is a talent, but like Musonda, may be a bit lightweight for the big occasion, although Ntcham is a class act and still improving.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Apr 2018 12:22:04
great to see Rogic gliding through and finishing well again, i can see him having a big say in the semi final, he's the best player we've got.

Rogic will be a massive miss for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Mar 2018 20:05:46
I don't think Ryan Christie or Scott Allan, have much of a chance of getting a run in the first team when they return, which I think is a shame, I think if I was the manager, they would definitely be in my first team squad, as they are exceptional players, but what about offering them plus money to Hibs for John McGinn, who I think will become the sort of player you could build a team around, .

Believable1 Unbelievable1

31 Mar 2018 20:37:53
1.5 million with no players is all I would pay for McGinn as he is out of contract next summer.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Mar 2018 20:49:06
Aindoh, How many games this season have you seen Christie and Scott Allan play . Probably no more than myself ( watching on the radio doesn't count ) . Now I know that I haven't seen enough of them to decide and I think our manager will watch them and have them watched properly before he decides .
I think he has seen enough of Allan to know he isn't Celtic class .
There is no point of signing players for the craic of it.

Agree1 Disagree1

31 Mar 2018 21:19:47
£3m + Allan should be enough. Gets rid of him as he's clearly not fancied by BR. I would keep Christie as there's still question marks over Rogic especially if he impresses at the World Cup. Think Christie offers a better attacking threat than McGregor in the final third but McGregor is the better rounded player and stronger further back.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Mar 2018 22:08:32
From what I have heard, whenever Ryan Christie plays well - Aberdeen play well and he is often at the source of their attacks and goals. BR has also stated Christie has a future at Celtic - although Allen may well be used as leverage in any deals with Hibs for players?
It probably depends on the question of Rogic, Armstrong, Hayes and maybe Biton having futures at the club, to make way for new talent?

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Mar 2018 22:39:18
Gaffer has already said Allen is done but Christie is being brought back to state a claim. Also reported Celtic looking to extend his contract for another year.

Agree0 Disagree7

31 Mar 2018 23:37:26
Old Bhoy, is not about being Celtic class, is about playing people in their most productive positions, you just need to think back to how Ronnie, praise him, praise him, played players out of their best positions to see how some players would look less good than they could potentially be, Lenny is getting the best out of Allen now by making the full use of his creativity, something none of the Celtic managers managed, even Brendan, and Neil is doing it by playing him in his best position, changing the subject a wee bit, I really like Armstrong, and I hope he signs a new contract .

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Mar 2018 23:47:27
And another thing, I think McGinn might well attract a lot of attention from down south, so don't think there is any way he will go cheap.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Apr 2018 06:25:37
Armstrong is the only real ball carrier we have who can drive at defences from deep. Brendan rightly called Tom Rogic the Magic Man. To move on both at the same time would be a big risk we do not need to take. Big goals at crucial moments are Tom's stock in trade.

Agree1 Disagree1

01 Apr 2018 12:54:44
I think Rogic and Armstrong will sign new deals, maybe two years.

That may well be wishful thinking, but, I believe it. I realise that an even stronger belief that we would get defenders on who would go straight in was wrong. Similar to most beliefs, it was all in my head.

Hope we keep them though. Getting better in the CL will give them more chance of a bigger club.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Apr 2018 14:45:37
I can see both moving on in the summer. Ntcham has shown he is capable of replacing Armstrong. But Rogic will be tough to replace. Maybe Musonda might get his chance if that's the case but it still isn't a replacement only a stop gap until the following season. But if reports are true that'll be DDV, Boyata, Bitton, Gamboa, Armstrong, Allan, Roberts, Rogic, Dembele, Edouard and potentially Simunovic all going in the summer. First team squad returning would be Morgan, Christie, Ralston, Sviatchenko, Benyu and Ciftci. Can say the 3 latter look like they don't have a future either. So we've bigger problems than replacing just Armstrong and Rogic.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Apr 2018 13:05:18
Aindoh, Are you saying that Brendan isn't as good a manager as Lennon . Do you think Brendan couldn't find the place within the team that would have Allan a brilliant performer . Or are you judging Allan's ability from Radio reports and brief highlights .
Even Allan can look like a footballer under these conditions .
I am afraid you, yourself haven't seen enough to back -up your claims about either Allan or Christie.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Apr 2018 10:19:18
Aindoh, really? Scott Allan? So you want to drop any 1 of rogic/ Armstrong just to fit in Allan? first of all are you nuts? and second of all you must have realised watching a game/ listening r completely different as commentators usually big up anything in our own half for the opposition as if it's a goal.
On another note I assume you didn't celebrate the titles won by Ronny? Which would have included a treble had it not been for blatant cheating from officials. This despite him not playing Scott Allan and players supposedly playing out of position, odd that as kt played at left back rogic attack mid, broony centre mid and Griff up front and Gordon, lustig, Forrest n Roberts all playing where they should. Only 1 that played slightly different was Armstrong coming in from the left however we also had johansen at that point.
As for Brendan, he clearly doesn't fancy Allan, we just won a treble and are going for back to back trebles and u want to have a go cause he doesn't play Allan n Lenny does? reason Lenny plays him is he's found his level, he ain't Celtic class. Rogic is way better, I would also like to see paddy Roberts in that number 10 role but allow that 3 to interchange, but even if rogic, Armstrong n Roberts didn't resign I still wouldn't play Allan as Christie is better.
PS I have watched Allan play, not just hear him on the radio so that's what I base this on.
Hailhail.

Well that "tackle" on Brown was a shocker, a stamp trying to injure our captain, that player should be banned for rest of season, a sickening cowardly tackle.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

31 Mar 2018 18:22:27
It was a violent, cowardly assault on a player who was already on the ground and he should get the maximum punishment.
Fortunately Broony has balls of steel and continued to run the show.

31 Mar 2018 20:53:32
Since Leveen said Brown was a danger to Scottish Football all the idiotic cowards who think they are hard men have done the dirt on Brown .
But that is ok because it is in Scotland .

What did Scott Sinclair do on the referee in the second half . R C players did what they wanted on him.

Had to give my ticket away today due to work commitments so can't comment on today's game but here's my thoughts. Albeit we have a game in hand but the facts are that the Huns have scored one goal more than Celtic while acknowledging they've lost twice as many goals. But it raises a question about our belief in the superiority of our strikers including the £30M Dembelle compared to the Govanites front line and our criticism of our defence including me which the facts don't seem to reflect.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

31 Mar 2018 18:26:46
Good point, but would like to add to it, i see it that teams will park the bus against Celtic and make it difficult for us to get the chances in front of goal, but the other teams will try and open up and play against each other.

I would like to see out goal tally rise but happy where we are. Hail Hail.

I agree with ypf; the amount of teams that come to Celtic Park or even play at home with 10/ 11 behind the ball this season is testament to what we achieved last season with so many high scoring victories, including two 5-1 wins against Sevco; although when the other eleven teams play each other, they rarely go all-out-defense and take points from each other (Sevco as a case in point losing to Hibs and Killie at home and drawing today.
There are other factors, in that we have had very long injury absences to both our main strikers and attacking midfielders and form issues with others who were firing in goals last season.
The cream always rises to the top and although we would all love to see us scoring for fun and hammering teams like today for example, we did play very well and totally controlled a comfortable win with Armstrong showing some real class and Sinclair looking more like his old self.
Dembele has come back well recently and has scored in five of his last six (apart from the 0-0 at Motherwell) and has been getting back to form - never be mentioned in the same breath as Morales who has come off second best to Moussa every time we play them.
The defense looks better with Lustig, Ajer, Hendry and KT and while Simunovic may get another chance, I would hope Boyata is released in the summer as he has clearly went backwards.
Apart from that we have Griff, Ntcham, Roberts and Musonda champing at the bit for a game as well, so look on the bright side.

Dembelle was out injured for a good while.

Jfp. our two main strikers have been out long spells in a stop start season for them . they have each played in ecxess of a thousand minutes less than the sevco two top scorers. come the end of the season with another probable treble . i know which id rather have and it would not be having the top individual scorer title . our defence or rather certain defenders aren't really bad players as such but can't cut out sliiy individual errors .

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Mar 2018 20:34:20
I don't get that logic, permutation or even index linking it to us

For anyone to think that Rangers are close to us because of one stat beggars belief as was pointed out on live chat today they could easily end up finishing FOURTH and have a fight on now to finish second!

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Mar 2018 21:03:05
Some people go to a great length to create a negative where none exist . One basic reason for shortage of goals ( if there is ) is the fact that we have played 12-14 non SPL matches more than other teams . We won domestic treble last year and with summer Internationals most of our better players had a mere 3 weeks break between seasons . It just shows that some of our fans would want a minimum 3 nil victories each game with a splattering of 5 and 6 nil victories scattered in between . Our fans are very demanding.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Mar 2018 23:13:31
No negativity here Chris merely stating facts which don't lie albeit some good points made above with respect to teams sitting in against us and our two main strikers being out for much of the season. By no stretch of the imagination was I suggesting they are close to us in fact one of main points I was making is that our defence obviously isn’t as bad as many of us me included have suggested given they’re the principal reason we’re in the position we’re in particularly with strikers being out. Therein lieth the basis of my point. Happy and Blessed Easter to all my fellow Timmites! ☘️.

We’ve been poor at finishing this season. Far too many chances are missed. We need to be able to score more than any other team, not to can’t be ignored. The main reason is we are just missing too much.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Apr 2018 14:03:46
Facts do lie, as bare facts don't tell the whole story . It often takes people's opinion rather than hard facts to give a true picture of what figures are telling .
We have scored a lot less goals this season, could it be down to the very busy season last season ( playing 60+games ) a three week break for many of them, and then playing 12 to 14 matches more than others before Hogmanay .
Some people might sneer at that, but let us look at the form of S Armstrong, last season brilliant, most improved Scottish player in Scotland . This season only a shadow of himself, out since start of January for about 10 weeks and on Recent form cackle to and maybe better than last season. Was it the rest that made Armstrong so brilliant, or is it a flash in the pan . Do our better players need a decent break? Will k Tierney benefit from his break?

31 Mar 2018 16:24:05
As much as Ntcham has been great this season, watching today's game I think that an on-form Armstrong really brings out the best in Rogic. Against Motherwell I thought we were too reliant on Rogic doing something all on his own but today Armstrong has been driving with the ball and it's allowed Rogic to pick up better pockets of space.

I thought first half Armstrong and McGregor linked up well together.
And a mention ajer. the bhoy is an absoulte winner. did anyone see his reaction to winning a throw in. brilliant. that attitude will take him a long way in the game.

31 Mar 2018 21:13:18
Jungle John, you are spot on . Armstrong's hernia must have held him back more than people thought . He was a joy to watch and played with such industry and skill.
McGregor can play nearly any where, Ajer is surely the best under 21 player at Celtic, or is he we also have Tierney and so many others that could blossom within weeks as outstanding players . This is a truly great time to be a Celtic supporter, don't let the impatient boo bhoys to spoil it .

Brendan Rodgers is only starting, he is only getting the starting blocks in place . We have seen some of the youngsters, others are already at Lennoxtown and more stil teenagers are been selected . We recently signed a youngster as far away as Australia, we have scouts everywhere.

Video from Celtic Tv, Celtic FC - Behind the scenes.

Ps. Do you know who the kid is showing off his ball skills who said his Dad played for Celtic? Has initials RV on his top. I know what players we had whose surname began with the letter V, but would just be guessing whose kid it is.

Brilliant video doing the rounds about the making of the season ticket film. It really captures just how much of a community club we are. It's theme is inclusion and how the Celtic family is open to anyone of any race, creed, colour or ability.
It also made me realise why the SMSM are forever writing absolute guff about us, they haven't got a clue what goes on inside Celtic so just make it up. As Scotty said, we do our talking on the pitch.
Mines a double treble please!
