First of all I want to say a big well done to all the Celtic fans today who almost to a man, woman and child observed the minute's silence impeccably ( yes I know one or two idiots spoiled it but only one or two) Believe me the media were all hoping for a big deflection story tomorrow to take it away from the new club getting pumped again. They were all left disappointed.
Even my ex bear pals said how our fans were well behaved, with one exception, guess who? he wears a suit and is a bigot. He actually emailed to ask "if Celtic were going to apologise for many? of our fans shouting during the minute's silence" He lives in his own wee bigoted sad world where every Celtic fan is his "enemy" I simply replied the only silence I wanted was from HIM.

31 Dec 2016 20:48:59
I thought our fans were brilliant today both in the backing they gave the team and the way they observed the silence, they showed once again that they are sheer class.
I would just like to wish everyone on here a happy and peaceful new year, I hope you all have a great time.
I would also like to thank Ed007 for the time and effort he puts into this site, it's great to hear his thoughts on things, and he has a really good knowledge of what is happening in and around our great club. Ed I wish you and your family all the best for the coming year.

{Ed007's Note - Thanks very much, Gerry and a Happy New Year to you and your family too, all the best.}

Why does anyone feel the need to congratulate fans on observing a minutes silence? If it's for a genuine reason like today it should be taken for granted and observed.

Hi to all and a very Happy New Year
Huge congratulations to all the Celtic family on today and the season so far. Thought BR was outstanding after the match today in his comments. For the opposite number not to be interested in any side he is so far behind staggers me! Says everything to me that the fight is indeed over and second place is his concern. Well done to all the players and staff. Enjoy Dubai and come home ready to finish what is started.
Cheers to all.

First happy new year to one and all, great game today the team proved that they will not be defeated. Tiredness and complacancy will not be permitted, no excuses accepted. Today was another step towards the future development of this team, Dembele became unplayable the longer the game went on; any watching manager would have been in raptures at the last 5 mins. I know this is not pretty but in the CL it is very important and the difference between winning and losing away from home. Also a big thank you to every supporter who was there today we showed how to be a true celt without turning into zombies.

31 Dec 2016 17:55:18
First things first, we have to say congratulations to the team. Playing so many games in such a short space of time and coming out undefeated says so much about our side at the minute . Looking back at today though, for many times it looked like the defending from when Ronnie was in charge. Lost count of the amount of times the two centre backs let the ball bounce or let their forwards come through 10 yards to win the ball easily. Probably just tiredness and maybe a bit of complacency creeping in. Still all things said the bhoys have definitely earned their break, hopefully we will get a couple of decent players in Jan to help us push on again. Great effort, hail hail.

Forgive me Quinn1888, but so what? It's not the best footballer's book ever, but Paul Lambert told a story in his about how angry he'd been at Dortmund, despite them winning. Andreas Moller, no less, told him to forget it and move on. A win is a win, and I'll take 2-1 every week. Have a great Hogmanay with your family. HH.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Dec 2016 23:26:53
I'd take a win over that mob any day of the week, any way it comes just looking at a bit longer term, still think we could do with another top centre half. Heading towards the champions league qualifier.

The only way things will change with sky is if all Scottish football fans come together and just cancel their sky packages.
For too long our game has been treated like crap, we as football fans deserve better.
I for one will be switching my TV package to BT sports.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

31 Dec 2016 17:15:18
I cancelled my Sky in the summer - changed to BT and saved over forty quid. My son got me a wee 'Magic box' for my birthday and I can watch most games I want.
SLY are very patronising to Scotland and Scottish football and very anti- Celtic and I would urge people to ditch them.

Agree2 Disagree1

31 Dec 2016 15:59:58
Pay an expensive monthly subscription to sky ' talk about am mature coverage not even an interview with managers after the game! after the debacile at Hamilton no sound our league is made to look so amateurish what's to stop them showing Celtic at home with our wonderful.

Aye was typing then got cut off all I was trying to say was why don't they show Scottish football from the likes of Celtic park with atmosphere instead of the likes of Hamilton ( no disrapect ) with three sided stadia or Inverness, I watched about an hours after coverage of an English premiership game the other night with the hosts taking turns walking up to show they're interpretation of what should've gone on etc, this is the way we are played down on sky, shocking but a happy Hogmanay to all the buoys an girls ynwa ❀❀❀❀❀to all n aw the best.

Guys I have just been told that, the guy who shouted " I hope you die" was in fact a Rangers fan hope this is WELL DOCUMENTED.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

31 Dec 2016 17:54:36
The story seems to be "I hope you die! " was from the home support in a reaction to a "mon the hoops! " or something similar from our end. Poor show from anybody to shout over the silence tbh, never nice to see and embarrassing that people just can't help themselves for one minute.

Daily ranger at it again, foaming at the crotch because 1 numpty shouted something. And they don't even kno where it came from. Its this paper and others like it that should be done for inciting violence.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

31 Dec 2016 15:12:59
Totally agree. Heard one or two "shouts" but couldn't tell where it came from but plenty of sectarian and banned songs from the home end. that was clearly identifiable to be from a large proportion but as usual sod all will be said or done about it.

Already I've seen posts on Social media slating Celtic fans for disrupting the minutes silence. Total arrogance that they cannot see their own shortcomings amongst what I'd say is a majority of their support!

And Neil McCann. GIRUY ya wee bam!

Be safe everyone if out tonight.

Agree4 Disagree0

31 Dec 2016 15:29:06
Disgraceful reporting by the daily Hun. I thought the Celtic fans are very much to be applauded for observing minutes silence especially after listening to half an hour of anti-catholic sectarian abuse. I sometimes buy the record for football as I wouldn't have the Sun in my house either but that's me finished with the record. I would urge all Celtic fans to do the same. The paper isn't worth wrapping a fish supper in or wiping your arse with. But learned a long time ago that the Scottish press and BBC were never big on truth. I for one was proud of our supporters. πŸ€.

The initial shout did come from one of ours let's not cover that up but 1 shout that was is you could hear a pin drop otherwise. I was next to my mate whispering please blow the whistle as it was tense but the bhoys all deserve credit. yes we know it was a ploy but it was respected (rightfully so) and then we done our talking on the pitch.

Good win today but if we are being subjective we were poor in the first half giving them to much time and respect. Lustig didn't look good against someone with pace and the centre of defence still looks shaky. I'm sure BR will have players in mind to strengthen our deficiencies but at the end of the day we were better in the second half and what a great way to end the year with beating the drivel in their backyard.
Happy New Year when it come to all you bhoys and ghirls in green.

Brilliant win, great second half performance and considering the ref and linesmen didn't even try to hide their bias, I am absolutely over the moon. My MOM was Armstrong - yet again, I thought he was superb, but there quite a few candidates! So pleased to beat those animals and I include the officials in that because they were a disgrace.

Believable7 Unbelievable2

31 Dec 2016 14:28:33
I agree with everything regarding the performances etc mate but I thought the ref and officials had a good day out for a change. I'm not sure what decisions worth talking about they got wrong?

Agree1 Disagree2

31 Dec 2016 14:35:39
Two dreadful offside decisions in quick succession, a throw-in given to the animals when it travelled about 50 yards without going near a Celtic player and I thought a lot of fouls given their way that were nowhere near it.
Anyway, although I am, it's not a day for moaning! Happy New Year mate!

Agree3 Disagree1

31 Dec 2016 14:37:59
Thought the ref was not to bad.
Couple of turn the blind eye moments but never really got to involved.

Agree0 Disagree2

31 Dec 2016 14:38:17
Eh we were twice thru on goal and were waved offside when both were clearly on.

Agree3 Disagree0

31 Dec 2016 14:39:16
Like big jock used to instil - As long as our players do their jobs and play to their potential the result usually takes care of itself. Granted we started slowly and got caught cold with a few players showing nerves and hesitation; but once we regained our composure and asserted our class - there was only one winner. Gordon made some good saves, but we missed a hatful of chances to underline our superiority.

Agree3 Disagree1

31 Dec 2016 16:02:31
The officials were horrendous today. So inconsistent. Hill pulls a jersey, no booking, Celtic player does the same and booked. I only ask that it is the same rule for all players. Numerous offsides that were never off. McKay should have had swimming trunks on the number of times he dived. Handball against Moussa that was rattled against him from a yard? Stramash in the penalty box that he blew for a foul against us?

Playing against 14 today.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Dec 2016 16:25:38
How was the ref bad? The. 2 offsides were so close he had to listen to his linesman who were wrong but we could only tell on slow motion on tv. One wrong decision on a throw in hardly makes him a fully paid up member of the Masonic lodge! Some people need to get the huge chip off their shoulders and move on!

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Dec 2016 15:54:59
Strong performance today, specially 2nd half, thought we started slow, sloppy goal to concede, but we came into things a lot more after broony's tackle n took the game by the scruff of the neck. Thought Roberts was brilliant when he came on, broonys great, areas Emilio a great game defensively n offensively.

Dembele was probably my man of the match for not only the goal but all round game, his price just keeps rising. Armstrong is really making that role in beside broony his own, box to box midfielder in the mould of petrov, he will just get better.
Special mention for callum McGregor, he can take a hard time on here n in the stands n I thought he was great today, kept it really well, great passing n movement n did good work defensively n offensively.

Good to put this new team sevco in their place, that'll be 2nd best to the Celtic, just like their old deceased team, mind the gap now sevconians.
Hail hail.

My favourite comment was from Andy walker in the 1st half he said sinclair wasn't in the game lol not sure which game coz everything went through him.

Armstrong and dembele both amazing.
An honourable shout out for mcgregor who was a spectator 1st half but uped his game 2nd fair play.

Thought mcgregor had a very good second half.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I think McGregor comes in for a lot of unfair criticism. The whole team were rotten for the first half hour. He came onto his game when the rest of them did and for me he put in a solid performance.}

31 Dec 2016 15:14:47
I totally agree ed007.
Said it before every squad needs a utility player like mcgregor.
How many positions has he played this season?
Add to that he pops up with assists and goals.
For me not a first pick but still important member of the squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - And he seems happy enough with that role. McGregor would easily walk into any other team in Scotland.}

31 Dec 2016 19:29:43
He knows what it means to play for celtic and he probably realises that his career will never have a club as big as celtic after he leaves ed007.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - He's made over 20 apps this season so it's not as if he's just warming the bench and Rodgers obviously likes him. I wouldn't have him in my starting 11 but he's definitely good enough to be a squad player for Celtic on the domestic front.}
