Just seen the news that Fernando Ricksen has been diagnosed with a from of Motor Neurone Disease.

A horrible illness and hope he & his family can find some peace in the tough times ahead.

Seen a lot of talk about mcgeady surely that's a step back plenty of fans were happy for him to go at the time and a don't think he's really improved IMO I would much rather see us try for a more creative number ten type player someone who can open up defences a feel as if that's what we lack at the moment I'm not stokes biggest fan and so fae pukki and balde look below average but a think with a more creative player making more chances for them that we would see all three get more goals just my opinion what do the rest of uz think

I would not bring Mc Geady back, I was amazed at the money we got for him, did not think he was worth it, still don't

dear ed
upon reading an extract in todays paper i saw an article titled this day in 2005 where fergus mccann was quoted as saying "the fans booed me but i understand",
my firm belief is that the fans that day were wrong and i think deep down it was a way of showing thier frustration at jock brown, and in light of what has since happened over on the dark side we can now fully appreciate what fergus done for us and i think history will show him to be as important to celtic as, jock stein, brother walfrid, billy macneil, jinky, henrik etc the list goes on but i do feel his name is most deffinately on that list,
i feel there should be a tribute to him at celtic park and in fact the north stand should be re-named the fergus mccann stand and we should bring him back to re-name it and give him the ovation he should have recieved all those years ago
i would like to start a campaign to have this done starting with a poll on here
what do you think ed? {Ed007's Note - McCann has made it clear in the past he doesn't want any recognition.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There's no denying what he did but it was not all fairy tale stuff and he made a few enemies along the way.
Nonetheless we are here today thanks mainly to his involvement and cash but he was well rewarded for his investment and left with a handsome profit which is tribute enough IMO.
I believe business was always first and Celtic second in his priorities.
To me; Celtic are not a 'five year plan' but a lifetime of support and emotion and some of those mentioned above gave everything for the club.
However I do recognise his role.

JJ agree with you in principle but wether he wants recognition or not we should officially recognise his involvement. If it weren't for him we could have been no more, a very frightning thought.

TamTimTic {Ed007's Note - It would be a bit naff JJ if we held a naming ceremony and the guest of honour didn't show up, especially when he is still alive.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Ed; sorry I never asked for a ceremony, I was the post above mate.

JJ {Ed007's Note - Sorry bout that mate, I am on my tablet and read it wrong.}

Bit disappointed Ajax disaplinary hearing is not till next month, were even if they get made playing behind closed doors celtic see no benefit from it! They assaulted our fans and destroyed our stadium surely we shld be compensated! CSKA are being selt with today, that case will be over and done in minutes surely they should be dealing with Ajax today aswell?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

These things always baffle me and it seems to be prioritised on how much clout the football association has and how much press coverage is given?
Strange as the games were played the same week but racist chanting - which I totally condemn - seems more serious than violence and hooliganism?

JJ

Agree0 Disagree0

I have heard that celtic are billing ajax for the damage and are charging them £25.000

Callum Mcgregor scores winning goal for notts county, 3-2 against oldham. Adam Rooney scored for oldham

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Assuming you are going to Sharm, you can watch the game in the Sunburnt arms, which is on the path along the beach front. i'm just back from there and watched the ajax game from there

Hi Bhoys and Ghirls anybody kno if I will be able to watch celtic games when I am in Egypt?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How long you there for? As not many televised celt games in next fortnight. Or are you just posting to rub it in that your in egypt. Egypt quite nice, quite similar to tunisia.
