Okay, I bhoys I am back with my second post on the page. I have had a wee think and I have compiled a list of free agents who would do a job for us if we want to use the majority of our money on big players.

Paulao, I seen him when he played for Betis a few seasons back. He is strong and good in the air. I remember we signed Daniel Majstorović on a free and he certainly done a job for us. So why can't we get this guy in?

Chinedu Obasi, He can operate anywhere along the front three. He has had european experience with Schalke and was once one of the most promosing Nigerian prospects. He has had a good career and at 29 could do a job for us.

Another former Betis man is a cenral midfielder called Javier Matilla, I watched him when he was at Villareal aslo. He is a good passer of the ball and I think he would do well in Scotland.

I think Brendan will build his team round Christie, Allan and Roberts and Brown, in midfield, LG and some promising young attacker from the euros in attack, from maybe Albania, although I can't remember what the score is with Scepovic, is he gone or not, I think played the right way, he could do a job, a front pairing of him and LG, could be profitable, as long as they play enough games together, something that was sadly lacking in Ronnies tenure, in countless positions, I have always been a big supporter of Gordon, because he is a fantastic keeper, but he did make an awful lot of mistakes, last year, but was that due to the changing defence in front of him, and that is the thing Brendan has to sort out first, you have to build your team from the back, by the way I think it is obscene the amount of money that Brendan is getting paid, and then there is Mourinho getting paid a million pounds a month, what's the world coming to, but wait a minute, the most over rated player since Beckham, i. e Wayne Rooney, he is getting paid £250,000 a week, aaaargh that's a million a month as well, the day we stop paying these over rated posers these crazy wages and start paying them by actualy how much they produce will not be a day too soon.

Ad be very surprised if if Allan is there this time next year.
And can't work out why anyone would mention him before rogic.

31 May 2016 06:30:44
Majstorovic certainly did a job for us? Are you kidding, he had about 3 good games and was actually slower than Stan varga. Only thing I remember him doing was getting sent off after 30 seconds against sion!

Aindoh I don't think anyone can say if Rodgers is overpaid or not. If he gets us into the CL and generates an additional £15 to £20 mill which we have not had for 2 seasons then we are ahead of the game by £13 to £15 mill after taking his wages into account. Alex Ferguson always said the best paid employee should be the manager. Will make a change from it being the CEO.

We haven't seen much of Allan since we signed him, he has started a few matches and came on in quite a few . I doubt if there is enough of a worker in him, he will certainly have to develop that aspect of the game or B Rodgers won't play him much We all like good passing and playing with head - up but we need more.

I see the DR has us shopping in the same market as Sevco. 5 players going to the Euros who could be a bargain for the Old Firm (or something just like that) . I really hope we go out and get a bit of real quality to shut these "journalists" up.

Tbh I reckon the players mentioned were more in our bracket than theirs rather than the other way about.

30 May 2016 23:55:07
I think you would be a fool to ignore somebody, just because he does'nt play in a 'top' league, in fact i think you would be a fool just to shop in the main leagues, among the so called superstars, that puts you down as someone who believes all the 'hype', you would probably be impressed if the guy drives a bentley and has a nice looking wag, Brendan is an enigma, on the one hand Ed001 says he never looked at the youths at Liverpool, and Oldbhoy says he brings youths on, the only way Brendan can justify his salary is to bring on home grown talent, sell them on for millions aswell as qualifying for the champions league,

Agree0 Disagree1

31 May 2016 14:16:30
Aindoh we already have Christie, Tierney, Roberts, Rogic and McGregor who are all about 23 or under who are regular first team players and then another decent sized group of 25 and under as well. We don't need to flood the team with more youth, we need experience to help the youth we already have and then try and bring through a few more over time, like Aitchison. Also, I'm not sure if your post was directed at me but if it was then I'd point out that I never mentioned the leagues these guys were playing in, my point was that if Rangers are looking at a player then we should be looking at somebody a level above, and reversing that, they shouldn't be able to ge near a player we want.

So plenty leaving but as of yet nobody in. Anything on the horizon or is it shaping up to be one of those summers where we are left skanting until the last week.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 May 2016 16:22:03
I'm glad we are having a much needed clear-out first, as the squad is currently too big and unbalanced, with a good few that are not good enough for Celtic and one or two who have hung around under three or four managers.
It will free-up cash to hopefully add the quality we need.

30 May 2016 16:40:48
Boabie we're not even in June yet bud! Lol. brendans only been in the job just over a week! He'll be looking at the squad and how he can get rid of the deadwood first, the squad is massive and IMO needs cut by at least 8 players! Ambrose Forrest ciftci scepovic SJ Cole CKR and possibly commons (even though I'm a big fan) . stokes and maybe Scott Allan to, Then look to add 3 maybe 4 quality signings! Also get rogic tied down on a new deal! The big man is a quality player.

30 May 2016 18:00:55
I hear you beav, just buzzing for this forum to kick off with proper rumours, ha ha. Good to see some dead wood move on. Ajer, forgot about him but he's a pre contract and we've known about him for ages. BR might be waiting for a swatch at the euros right enough, see what comes out of that.

30 May 2016 18:17:53
Celtic usually like to keep their business as quiet as possible
I am sure they are working hard on a few targets already.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 May 2016 18:46:33
Im sure we'll have some names in mind already but it's definitely better to get rid of the guys who aren't needed in order to free up wages etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 May 2016 19:40:36
If we keep a decent rump of players after shedding dead wood, I'd reckon we need no more than 5 signings. ST RB and RCB essential. LW, Another Central Defender desirable. Would hope at least 2 of those positions signed within next 2 weeks. Interesting times though, waiting optimistically.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 May 2016 20:17:16
As much as people keep neglecting the position, we need a new keeper Gordon not good enough.

Agree2 Disagree2

30 May 2016 21:42:08
Keeper is not a priority at least not for me other positions need strengthening first RB CB ST LW I don't think Gordon has done too bad.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 May 2016 21:54:51
Gordon is not the the worst goalkeeper and there are more important areas to fill first.

30 May 2016 22:07:48
IT seems that our season ticket renewals are going very well. Hope that we finish with at least 45,000 season books sold and that we have a good match day attendance from our season book holders plus plenty of day trippers all going to support Celtic . That the practically full Celtic Park are loud in their support of the team . If we generate big support at every game I have no doubt the players will pay us back in full.
Confidence all round will win the day.

Agree1 Disagree2

31 May 2016 02:34:24
Think so far we have sold in excess of 46,000 season tickets (with general sale still to come)

With a packed out stadium I feel we will see everyone of the current crop step there game up.

Agree1 Disagree1

31 May 2016 08:36:17
Gordon should be given a chance in behind a good back 4 and solid midfield.

Ed, Seen this earlier can't find it now mate one of the fan conventions singing "Brendan Rodgers" to the hymn "Here I am lord" you have come to take over the green and whyte powerful stuff full stadium signing that be more poignant than anything else mate

If you come across worth putting it up mate (y)

29 May 2016 18:54:30
ED007 now we have pushed the boat out and paid the going rate for a top manager, do you think Rodgers will be able to persuade the board to upthe wages paid to say £30k-£35k weekly to attract the next level of player we need.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I'm not holding my breath, Tim but we can only live in hope.}

30 May 2016 17:23:21
I think this is the year we will push the boat out a little. Was reading an article about how important our coefficient depends on this season. Took massive gambles past two years and think that's why DD has got more involved again

Start of July I would think we will see what route were heading down after Rodgers has a look through the squad in training.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 May 2016 23:31:49
Ed I here we are being linked with everybody who has ever known Brendon what do u think we can realistically see coming in? One or two quality players or are we looking at new guys who we are going to moan about?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's got to be some quality that's added. We've already got a squad capable of dominating on the domestic front and I don't see the point in signing players who aren't better than what we already have.}

30 May 2016 15:01:39
Just reading that Kelvin Wilson is a free agent.

30 May 2016 16:27:24
That doesn't make him good enough though

Agree0 Disagree1

30 May 2016 17:09:27
Decent player when he left us. I'd have him at CB before Ambrose, Boyata, Mulgrew and Lustig.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 May 2016 17:24:16
Dont even know if we are in for a CB. I think everyone would like to see Sviatchenko and Simunovic paired. Hopefully Simunovic can get a good pre season done and stay injury free. That way none of this will matter.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 May 2016 18:01:55
He was not bad but he wasn't fantastic
I think we still need one CB brought in but he need to be better than not bad.
Think a lot of fans need to stop looking at player from the past.
They have had their time.

30 May 2016 18:02:15

Hink your forgetting Wilson never liked Scotland, he moved back down south because either him or his family were homesick if a remember right.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 May 2016 18:58:45
He's injured more than boerittger.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 May 2016 19:38:08
He left because he was homesick supposedly. Dunno whether that's true or he just fancied it better down South but he was decent for us, in Europe too.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 May 2016 21:56:38
Think he and missus had split and his weans were back down in England

Agree0 Disagree0

30 May 2016 22:03:48
Didnt forget steph, just didn't know. Not upto date much on players personal lives or how they feel about where they live, ha ha. My mistake. Still, if he could get over his homesickness he'd be a good addition.

See that Marc Bartra has a £6m release clause from Barca. Could we punt Boyata and get him in?

Sadly he'll most likely end up at Stokealona.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

30 May 2016 14:18:36
We for sure need another CB at least, I think Ambrose time is up, Boyata is a bomb scare, Simunovic is always injured and Lustig who can be used as a CB is injury prone as well. Mulgrew as folk saw last night for Scotland should not be given a new contract and has also been injury prone for two years now and I'll be raging if he gets a new contract.

Could be needing at least two CBs if Ambrose, Boyata and Mulgrew leave as expected (Don't think Rodgers will rate Boyata, he likes players to be excellent passers in ALL positions) .

Agree1 Disagree1

30 May 2016 14:35:22
cant see it maself mate, the biggest problem we face imo is trying to entice that calibre of player to play in this diddy league, yeah stokes a good shout.

30 May 2016 12:22:59
Right what's the score with James forrest contract situation?
Just read in the evening times that it runs to December again but I have seen people on here say end of this month?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

30 May 2016 13:00:45
Hope it's the end of the month! Get shot of him ASAP! Along with ambrose ciftci scepovic Cole and a few others! Heard CKR could be off to which wouldn't be the worse thing! Need to clear out the deadwood so Brendan can add a few bits of quality to the team! Far to many passengers in that squad!

Agree2 Disagree0

30 May 2016 13:47:00
I actually think Forrest is a player that could improve a lot under Rodgers. He has much the same skillset as Raheem Sterling, pace and can beat a man but final ball deserves a lot to be desired. My worry with Forrest is that he leaves then finally fulfills his potential!

Agree1 Disagree5

30 May 2016 14:02:19
Hit agree by mistake there.
I can remember the last time I seen forrest use his pace or beat a man.
He has always flattered to deceive
He rarely puts a run of games tone there.
I hope his time is up

Forrest far too lazy. Sterling is rotten too!

Agree2 Disagree0

30 May 2016 16:30:51
Forrest has had chance after chance and very rarely did anything of note in the last two years or so.
I know he has had injury problems - another reason to let him go - but arguably, over the past season or so, this has been one of the most ordinary Celtic teams I've seen and if he was any sort of player, based on his potential, he would have been a stand-out against so many poor opponents.
