Ft0-1 bohemians better in a scrappy game and looked that bit sharper. my take on today . comper looks better than Hendry at cb Ralston looks better than Hendry at rb Christie is the best of the fringe players for midfield could push for a starting 11 first team berth.

It's only the second 45 mins of football our players have played pre - season . Its very early yet to assess and compare footballers . Give the boys a chance .
It's far too early yet.

Chris we are playing a pub team. Should never have been a problem to win that one.

Agree2 Disagree4

30 Jun 2018 21:57:53
Wouldn't call them a pub team, don't they play in the top Czech league?, they have had an interesting history involving financial difficulties, name changes, similar to another club.

Agree0 Disagree1

30 Jun 2018 22:06:55
Not quite a pub team Johnny, A Czech top league side that finished 7th last season. Don't tell me you're hitting the panic button already Johnny, you usually don't panic until a team gets within 10pts of us after xmas.

Agree1 Disagree1

Said it before and seen nothing to change my mind - Hendry is one of the worst players to ever wear the hoops.

Even in pre season Craig Gordon can’t help but cause a goal.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Jun 2018 14:52:48
0 1 . better class of opposition even game . though we've had a few chances and hit bar. kev young Miller got caught short and ajer was a bit slow out and yes Gordon shoudve done better.

Agree0 Disagree1

30 Jun 2018 21:39:10
No Celtic supporter could be so critical so early in our pre- season . If we are going to be so critical of form in an early pre- season kick about, I would hate to see what you are like when the season actually starts and games are meaningful .

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - Where have you been for the last 8 years, Chris? There used to be an old saying in football that any player was only as good as his last game, these days it's they're only as good as their last touch of the ball.}

30 Jun 2018 14:11:29
If anyone can explain the logic in our transfer policy then am all ears and willing to listen.
I think even the manager by coming out and saying he's need 2 for covering S.A. and PR then more on top then saying he's leaving it to the club to sort is a slight bit of frustration on his part.
Not only have we sold players we are 4 down from the WC.
Strange to say the least.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

30 Jun 2018 15:13:12
It's not really the clubs fault SA and PR don't want to be here though. That'll ne the frustration.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jun 2018 17:29:40
Jimtim, might be wrong but I don't think you understand the post, we all knew so the manager knew we where going to loose paddy and Armstrong, so why wher the replacements not put in place earlier, jungle John I understand your frustration with the signing policy, I might be proven wrong but a player we loaned out to Aberdeen and a player we signed from St mirren is not good enough if we want to move forward as a club pushing for 10iar and progressing in Europe, everyone can say but we paid out 9m but eddy was here last season so what change/ Impact will that have, the board keep bumping there gumbs about money in the bank and where we are moving, but honestly I would rather have a 4m player than lights and a fancy pitch.

Rant over sorry team it's just my feelings.

Agree1 Disagree2

30 Jun 2018 18:05:17
I don't think I do understand actually. The window hasn't closed. Just seems like a lack of patience.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jun 2018 19:59:23
Bang on the money JT! Fancy lights don’t have the option to wait and see what other clubs will offer. Transfers take time, unless the players are of a lower standing (see the dozen signings across the city) .

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2018 21:05:35
I think the fast-approaching CL qualifiers, players leaving or being touted as leaving and several away on WC duty has folk worried.
The arrival of Morgan and return of Christie are welcome but we knew all along that we would need more CL quality/ class brought in before the window closes and I think this will still happen.
Currently I reckon we still have enough about us to tackle the first qualifier - with a bit more fitness and sharpness to come, but I know BR will be expecting the board to fully back him when required.
Unfortunately we will always find ourselves in this situation, due to the timing of our season, CL qualifiers and the transfer window and the difficulty in dealing with clubs who don't have this handicap.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Our current squad should be more than capable of qualifying for the CL group stages.}

30 Jun 2018 21:45:42
It would be really stupid for Rodgers and Lawwell to spend our transfer chest of say £20m in June when far better value for money and better ability players than players we snapped up become available in mid July onwards .
The only club that rushes in their purchases in June is Rangers2012.& we know the tub of rubbish they always finish up with.

Agree3 Disagree3

01 Jul 2018 01:23:35
You can only assess a window properly at the end Kev. Some people just don't think about the way it works and the timing of things, how situations change, opportunities open up and others close. Questioning what impact record signing Edouard will have as well. Would that not mean then that actually replacing, or even signing Roberts, would have no impact either? The very thing that nipples are getting twisted. I just didn't read BR's comments as a dig at the board at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jul 2018 02:53:05
For the last year everyone new those 2 players wouldn't stay. why have they not been replaced.
We are playing a dangerous game with CL qualifiers coming up.
Just can't understand why year after year we seem to drag this out.
The targets have obviously been identified. Just get them in.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jul 2018 02:51:39
I’m sure there is thousands of players we could have signed, but there is no point unless they are better than what we have, and we have a lot deadwood at the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jul 2018 03:00:26
Still think our inactivity in transfer market is down to tactics agreed by Rodgers and Lawell to do with waiting till EPL transfer window closes almost 3 weeks before ours then we can deal with teams in a market not including the over inflated fees being thrown about by EPL. it also will allow EPL teams to move players on not in their squad lists or Loan out their younger players for experience. Players may be more eager to come to us if passed over by other EPL clubs at this time also.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jul 2018 03:02:03
20m chris? Catch yourself on, there's not a chance in hell that lawwell would ever spend that much, keep taking the tablets mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2018 14:03:57
There's was a lot of talk on here regarding Ajer yesterday. Has anyone else noticed he now has 4 caps and Norway have won all 4 matches he has played in, including an away win in Iceland. Looks like he's now a permanent fixture in their defence.
If KT was to go to Everton for a measley £25 million, then we have to have a 25% sell on clause as a minimum.

Is VAR planned to be run out in Scotland any time in the future if so will this not cause some referees problems as there will be no leeway for the 'honest mistake' in giving penalties or not as the case may be.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - No because it would be the same people, refs etc, running the VAR, it just means the ref can blame VAR for any discrepancies and the VAR team just use their new found authority to back up their opinions.
The ref won't need to make the honest mistakes if VAR can do it easier.}

30 Jun 2018 13:51:22
Ed I totally get your point about cheats will be cheats. But surely using video puts more pressure on officials to make the right call? We all accept that without VAR refs do genuinely have a tough call to make. At times we think they use that as an excuse too. But when the ref is looking at the same replays we see after a game or at home, surely it's going to do more good than bad. Or am I missing something?

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - You watch any live game and pundits, ex-players and ex refs all talk about decisions the ref has made and what he got right and wrong, do they all agree? They can't even agree with VAR all the time! You can sit and watch a game with your pals, watch all the same replays as the VAR team would, do you and your pals agree all the time or is it usually a split with one or two differing in their opinion.
So the guys sitting doing VAR are only really giving their opinion or their interpretation on what they see on the monitors, as we have already seen in Germany any VAR team are open to letting their own personal prejudices cloud their judgement. At the end of the day whether it's the ref on the park or the VAR team, it's still humans making the decisions.
Imagine we're at Ibrox and it's 0-0, 92nd minute Dembele goes down in the box, to everyone watching at home and seeing numerous replays (except TRIFC fans) it's a clear penalty but it goes to VAR and after a couple of minutes VAR says it's not a pen, will Celtic fans then just shrug their shoulders and say it must have been the right decision because the amazing VAR said so? Would they ****!
So instead of blaming refs we'd get the moon units in our support banging on about how VAR is controlled by the Masons - I don't think they've twigged that it'll be the fabled Masonic refs that would be running VAR too.}

30 Jun 2018 15:11:05
Fair comments Ed. I totally agree, and have said on another thread, it still comes down to interpretation. I guess I'm hoping though that the honest officials out there can only benefit from it, in that it can at least correct some wrong decisions. The flat earthers will always find something to blame I guess. Nice as ever though to hear your views though.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Old Fairhill proverb: Too many seeds spoil the bag.}

30 Jun 2018 21:49:51
Jim Tim if only honest officials benefit from VAR then SFA are right not to waste their money on it, as we don't have honest referees.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - There use to be 2 umpires in football matches, then they became referees who were to be the sole judge of fair play during matches, After that they introduces linesmen to help the referee and recently they changed the name of linesmen to assistant referees and then added a fourth official. Their last ploy was appointing even more assistant referees (additional assistant referees or AARs as they're known) behind the goal line - now we've arrived at the point of even more refs sitting in a room making the judgements in games.
Are we just to ignore the rules of the game that state depending where you read on the wording:

Law 5: The decisions of the referee regarding facts connected with play, including whether or not a goal is scored and the result of the match, are final. The decisions of the referee, and all other match officials, must always be respected.

The referee may only change a decision on realising that it is incorrect or on the advice of another match official, provided play has not restarted or the referee has signalled the end of the first or second half (including extra time) and left the field of play or terminated the match.

To this in April:

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43791511

A penalty was awarded after players had already left the pitch for half-time in Mainz's Bundesliga win over relegation rivals Freiburg on Monday.

Referee Guido Winkmann called both sides back from the dressing room after consulting the video assistant referee (VAR) system and penalising Freiburg for handball.

30 Jun 2018 22:48:22
It's going to be a farce. But with all the cameras covering every angle it was only a matter of time before it happened. Cameras have ruined sport and in many ways normality. We live in a big brother state and I'm genuinely scared for my kids future, my 12 yr old boy is wanting Facebook but I detest it cos it does more harm than good, so far I've managed to hold off but I fear it's a losing battle. Var is inevitable too.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jul 2018 01:33:13
You're space cadet flight commander talking like that Chris. Having cheats in the game and the proposition of using video to aid refereeing are yes, linked; but are different cases for me. Not using VAR because you think there is an agenda solves nothing. Flushing out the cheats is what solves the problem of cheating.

Bit deep there Steph, but I'm with you on that sociopolitical note.

Just seen in the DR that Brendan has said we need replacements before they can improve. surely we the money we have stored away we can go and get well improved replacements, get ings in just in case md go, s and with greyskull bringing in another 4 to top up their seven. i don't want us with egg on our faces. english transfer window shuts 9th August I believe no ins or outs.

If dembele goes I'd rather replace him with someone better than ings.

30 Jun 2018 12:06:57
1. For the most part, we’re shopping in a completely different market than Sevco which means our targets have options and likely won’t be signed up quickly.
2. They need to bring in over 10 players, we don’t.
3. Ings in case MD goes is ridiculous.
4. If MD goes I still wouldn’t want Ings.
5. We can buy players from England after 9th August.

Agree1 Disagree1

30 Jun 2018 12:18:42
I’m glad BR has mentioned replacements for PR and SA as those returning from loans or injury simply ain’t good enough to replace these two.

In regards to KT, I like what BR said he won’t stand in his way, clearly indicating to me that he knows KT is in no rush to leave.

I hope this year that he will give 2 strikers game time together more often than not especially domestically.

The next 10 days can’t pass quick enough for the return of the Bhoys.

KT to Everton, aye right. If, and i don't know to be honest, it has been stood up, it's only kudos to KT. The chances of him leaving are, for me ZERO. For now. He will leave, the boys application and talent will see to that, he will outgrow this league.

Right now the only way he would go was if one of the super powers at CL level came in, and that won't happen, yet. KT is still very young and, for me, still has learning to do. The fact that he himself has said it suggests a level head on a young boy. He will advance, here where he loves among people who love him, and become the player we know he will be.

Right now we are in a good place, a really good place. We are dominant domestically and i have belief that we will become stronger in Europe, our core age group is very young but will learn. We have just won six out of six trophies available, one season unbeaten obviously, do you think KT is not aware of how significant this is?

There used to be a saying, pulled him out the Jungle, meaning a fan, a true fan, living the dream. The last was probably Johnny Doyle, sadly taken at a very young age. KT is beyond even Doyley now, this kid really is living the dream and he appreciates and loves every minute of it. This is no badge kisser. He is one of us.

So sorry Everton but your not the biggest club in your own city, no slur intended just a fact. Another fact is if/ when KT goes it will be to a far bigger club, a CL elite level club.

Excellent post fgi, KT will be here for at least another 3 or 5 years.
Money isn't the be all and end all, He has a great Family and friends around him here. IMO that is the most important thing to him not money.

Review Of The Day 30th June 2018

Ed, KT to Everton? You reckon he'll move on any time soon?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - No, no chance.}

30 Jun 2018 00:16:23
All I needed to hear!

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I reckon KT will leave eventually but it won't be for a few years left, He'll know about any interest and even if Celtic accepted a crazy bid Lawell knows KT will turn down the move. He has absolutely zero interest in leaving Celtic.}

30 Jun 2018 08:10:35
KT is here for 10 in a row.

Agree2 Disagree1

30 Jun 2018 08:35:13
I really hope he stays for 10 at least but Brendan not batting it away has caused me a slight concern. On the other hand it could just be a bit more negative news spun by the media to knock us off our game . Since Gerrard has came in they are salivating that there’s a chance we could be beaten by them this year . All links with players leaving this season and hardly any mention that we have already broke our transfer record . Love to see us sign another two or three top quality players to put them back in their box.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jun 2018 09:58:52
I try to see the perspective from a players point of view and also try to liken it to my own circumstances. Say I love my job and the company I work for treat me very well and are looking very much to the future. They win all kinds of industry awards and I feel very much a part of the company. I get paid handsomely and my customers adore me and I get to wear a very distinguished uniform! Then, another company taps me up. They offer me maybe 3 or 4 times my salary, I get to do my business in a much more exposed circle but this company is not going to be as successful in relative terms. No awards dinners or completed achievements. I have to move away from my family and friends to another part of the country and there will be much more competition on the payroll. The question then comes down to money. Do you chase the cash and forego the trophies and accolades?
KT is a young man with the world at his feet. Sorry, but Everton are not going to match the experience he is receiving at Celtic. Stay for 10, go down in history and then move to a club where he will win more trophies, not languish mid table in the most overhyped league on earth.

Main stream Scottish media are concerned about really big bad news about Rangers2012 is about to break and they want to draw the emphasis from that.
