Ajer was ok out of position but looks a decent player . oconnell done nothing wrong did himself no harm. Griff had no support . fisher couldn't keep his feet but wasn't bad . janko out of position but tried until injured . christie tried but touch and pass lacking. biton Johanson Allen forrest shoogly peg no improvement.

Fair enough summary but no long term conclusions can be taken from our first game apart from the obvious youth of our squad . It's a long time, if ever since we have fielded as young a team as are likely to field this season.

First time poster, agree with most of what you say DRB but would add that I think Allen suffered from playing in front of Bitton. Only seemed to receive the ball as a last resort rather than being seeked out to be creative, but by contrast MacGregor demands the ball hence probably the reason he had the armband on. I sense Janko may have shaded Ralston had he been played on the right, might have also seen him deliver some balls in to the box. On the left he was always cutting back on to his right peg. Think Ralston looks a great prospect but would like him to be introduced gradually because the way things are shaping up there is going to be a very young team on the park and we are going to need experience in some key areas.

Murdoch. on ralston that's why we should keep lustig and then ease ralston in over the next year or so. as when fit lustig is a great full back. i don't think it's an area we need an addition to ad we have janko and fisher who also didn't play bad . after seeing mcart and oconnell and with kellehar near as well if go with the toure or similar short term experiened guy until injuries clear and then concentrate on developmemt of on or all of these 3.do we need more squad players . any signings now must be considerably better than anyone already here. otherwise it's just more bums on seats in the dugout or stand.

Yeah my thoughts too DRB regarding the RB position. I know, Lustig has had his injury woes, but he played a lot of games last season and is still only 29. At least we know if he does get injured we do have some options. With the squad needing trimmed down so much do you think there is a chance that we will let someone go that will come back to haunt us?

Definetley! The young boys coming through seem to have a bit of fight! Think tierney has set the bar high and they're trying to gain the same amount of praise as tierney!

I think many of our youngsters would have thought they wern't far behind Tierney, he has definitely set a decent standard for them to reach and is attainable.

Like I said below its like a training game! The young boy Ajer doesn't look comfortable at the back of me. think we'll see lots of changes at half time. thought we've passed it about quite well but no real penetration! No shots on target all half! Still think we need more guile in midfield.

What game are you watching we can't pass the ball and forrest has been missing for most of the first half our first touch is terrible.

Same players making same mistakes . our first touch and final ball as usual not there . can't blame it on pre season it was the same all last season the opposition don't need to press us we will give the ball away. couldn't tell if there was a new manager but hopefully a new eye will weed out these basic mistakes or get rid of culprits.

Would getting rid of Manager not be an option now? Why waste time? Some have minds already made up . No change doing the same as last season, that meant manager had to go, so why not Rodgers .
I think Celtic shouldn't show these first games, they are not meant for public breaking down of performances and skill level as teams further on in their pre-season preparations .
At this stage IMO it is far too early to make any kind of sensible judgement . Players only played one half for God's sake.

I was watching a few of the training video's on Celtic TV and I never noticed Johansen in any of them.

Just wondering if you have heard if he is maybe injured or given extra time off.

I think this will be a good season for Johansen on the left of a midfield 3 when we play that sort of shape. Hopefully the issues with other team members can be put to bed and he can show the ability we know he has.

Drb I mind he got a chance out there when he first came in and at some point through RDs time, the abuse RD got on here for playing him out of position, and cause he lacked the pace the get past a player was shocking. Would you say it would be a good move for BR? What if it didn't work, would he get the same treatment as RD? I believe people thought Ronny didn't have a clue because he tried things like that. Not wanting a debate or anything, it's just something I remember happening, Ed would be able to back me up with regards to players being played out of position and peoples thoughts on here.

Sw . it was rd that moved him into midfield for stromgodset . I can't recall him playing left wing . its obvious armstrong isn't effective time there . we've got to get a balance and they are the two senior left side ed players.
