Its time for all of Celtics support to come together and really stand together. There is an extra element in the MSM at he moment targeting Celtic and all who travel and support the club. They are to be a painted as essentially terrorists in the press or at least sympathisers. Every instance will be highlighted and exaggerated. Regardless of your politics be aware your club is under attack and we all need to stand together. ps. Time the club also started to stick up for its supporters too.

I smell paranoia, look, if the Celtic family behave themselves, they won't give the press of any hue, or left wing right wing or whatever, a chance to write headlines about them, there are worthy causes in this world, the Palestinians for one, but if the the Palestinian cause is being hijacked by right wing jihadi.

Agree8 Disagree5

{Ed007's Note - Who cares what the press write? If the press are bad mouthing Celtic fans then the fans must be doing something right.}

31 Jul 2017 08:05:45
The press will never change.
When Sevco get knocked out of Europe by a part time team from Luxembourg of all places, they pass it off as an early season blip, when actually it was a total disaster.
If Celtic on the other hand were to lose against Rosenborg on Wednesday, they will no doubt portray it as one of the biggest calamities in our clubs history, which it obviously wouldn't be.
It doesn't matter how well the team play, or how good our support is, they will always find something negative to write about us.
The best way to stick 2 fingers up to them, is for the team to keep winning, that's what annoys them most.

Mixed reaction from the locals at work today. Some have woken up to that waste of space that incited violence in Hendon. Others, though giving me dogs abuse about our scum fans and how we smashed up loadsa pubs in Sunderland. Were you in Sunderland or at the match I ask. No they say. Which pubs I asked? Name one? Oh dunno they say. Heard it from a mates mates mates mate. Piss off I say. Idiots.

I agree with you 100% that it's time that the supporters unite.

The truth is though that as long as the indefensible is going on, (Provo banner at Linfield game, ) then it makes it harder to justify throwing pyros at EDL scum. Videos being shared online didn't look good in parts with innocent bystanders. Not their fault a fascist was holding a "book signing".

The club is famed for our great support. As long as we focus on football and supporting Brendan and the team, while being inclusive of everyone's backgrounds, we'll be right as rain.

Ed can Roberts be added to squad for Wednesday because he's under a certain age?
Just been arguing with a guy but I say he can't.
Am I wrong?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - Sounds like he's talking about the B List of players, Kev but Paddy doesn't qualify for it:

43.10 - Each club is entitled to register an unlimited number of players on List B during the season. The list must be submitted by no later than 24.00CET on the day
before the match in question.

43.11 - A player may be registered on List B if he is born on or after 1 January 1996 and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of
two years since his 15th birthday by the time he is registered with UEFA. Players
aged 16 may be registered on List B if they have been registered with the participating club for the previous two years without interruption.

31 Jul 2017 03:32:39
IMO the Transfer Money is there BUT will Roberts come for 30-35k a week when Huddersfield and teams alike can offer 60-70k if they really want him!
Do we want and should we make a guy his age one of, or the highest earner and what amount should we go to? (REALLY)
Does it hinge on CL? Will Roberts want to come if its the Europa?
This is basically a 20m game SO will the Board still be good to part with 8m up to 12m if we lose out on 20m (minimum)
Roberts IS a class Player BUT for that fee and wages the options are vast!
Thing is if we had the money early on then WHY! didn't we push this deal through!
IMO and I hate to say it but the board gambled on getting through the qualifiers with no hitches! Then talk of the strength of the Team would not have been raised!
What puzzles me is why Rodgers didn't bring in 1-2 CL Players early on, Experienced Pros that would have seriously strengthened Squad on top of Hayes etc (MONEY IS THERE! )

Agree1 Disagree1

31 Jul 2017 06:14:49
I wouldn't say it was necessarily the money the EPL would offer Paddy, but perhaps just the chance to play regularly there. I suspect that is what he wants most. If the Eds are to be believed (which they are) then he doesn't have a future at City, this season certainly. Which is understandable given their resources and reluctance to give youth a chance. If I were City I'd be looking to loan him to an EPL side that would play him to see how he does. The longer this window goes on, without a Southampton making a bid, the more chance he'll join us. If City don't want him, and nobody else does but us, I can only see one outcome, even if it is on loan again.

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Jul 2017 06:35:01
Why would he go out on loan and miss out on near enough trebling his wages unless City are adamant that they want him to stay under their Contract and like u say Jim Tim see how he drvelops out on loan. They don't exactly need the Transfer Money!
Best outcome for us I think. He still has a few yrs left on his Contract (I think? )
BUT he may want to see a bigger wage instead of waiting another year which means a Transfer.

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Jul 2017 06:54:15
If reports from when he signed for City are to be believed Anton, PR is on about 25k a week. We could match that. And in a few years offer him a bit more should he warrant it and we're getting through to the CL year on year. The fee is believed to be Β£8m. I think we could match that, with last years CL money to play with and the safety net (in my eyes anyway) that we'd surely at least get our money back should he later get the chance to move.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2017 10:48:15
Guys Brendan's said he is waiting for the 25 man squads to b released to see who is available ( better quality of player ) I get that don't know why most of us can't also I'm reading about how we need experience players for Europe we have a great already in our captain most games played in Europe for a Scottish player mickel lustig and Craig gorden ano Armstrong might not b here but he has played in Europe a few times since he join so not getting the we need experience for Europe thing also the results on wed at paradise kinda make people more nervy but I have faith I what Brendan's trying to do so chin up lads could b worse am thinking hearts pumped out the league cup by 3 part time teams πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ so Bhoys and ghirls in Brendan we trust hh.

Agree1 Disagree1

31 Jul 2017 11:32:39
Anton88 why do you think his age is relevant to him being the highest paid playeer? If he signed he'd probably be the best player at the club so would be entitled to look for wages to reflect that.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jul 2017 11:47:30
Why is age even an issue when it comes to how much they get? It's about ability and how impetus to you are to the team and how much ithers will pay you.

I think that mentality is bollocks.

It's not Paddy's fault the players older than him aren't as good.

This may stem from our academy where we make excuses for basically Dundee players, that they're only 21 and young.

Naw, they're just not good enough. End of and feck all to do with their age.

If paddy is the highest paid and you're a player who is older and decked off about it watch a video of him.

All you need to solve the disparity right there.

Agree1 Disagree1

31 Jul 2017 12:59:22
There was a red top alleging to break down the squad wages. Bizarrely having gamboa is one of our top earner's. couldn't see it.

Agree0 Disagree1

31 Jul 2017 22:47:16
Why all the talk of Roberts . He was with us 18 months and I don't think he started half the games . I still think we all rate B R but he was as likely to start Forrest ahead of Robe.

Agree0 Disagree1

30 Jul 2017 20:53:23
Why if we are so mad to get paddy back where he belongs why are we taking so long to do it. I not sure l believe all the stuff about having to wait for city. We surely have the money from last year champions league, season tickets and all the money from merchandise. I simple think it's the board just trying to make it look like they are after him and when saints sign him there will be all the rubbish from them that follows. They say they want to get to the last 16!. With the greatest of respect we got Hayes and the lad from ipswich. Spend the money now and sign him. The same with a CB.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

30 Jul 2017 21:12:24
Paddy has always said he wanted to go back to city and do pre season and see what plans they have for
Plus we have signed more than Hayes and a bhoys far Ipswich. We bought a bhoys fae City for over 4 million.

30 Jul 2017 22:12:40
Hi Kev83. My mistake l totally forgot the lad from city. Just pissed off with the whole paddy thing.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 22:33:07
With that in mind kev do u think we have done enough in the transfer market. Do u think any quality will come if we don't get a result on wed. Ya but if we are beaten on wed do u still think paddy?

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 23:32:58
I hope it may just be a version of negotiating from a position of strength. However, banking on the strategy that City (and others) rule him out is daft given what we've seen of him. Certainly if I were city I'd look at our present dilemma and say hold the horses.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jul 2017 03:42:28
If I were City I would have been in contact by now, in fact I'm SURE that City would have informed all interested parties there intentions.
If selling, Clubs submit bids, poss negotiate then allow talks with Player (Agent)
If Fee was accepted from more than 1 Club, obviously it just comes down to WAGES. Or he's waiting until total Qualification to CL!

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jul 2017 06:46:34
Absolutely agree Oscar161. If we end up in Europa then Dembelle will go Roberts will go to bottom half of EPL and the board will give Brendan money to spend BUT HOW MUCH?
imo could see Rodgers given a Transfer Kitty of around 10m.
Bare in mind we need to replace MD and bring in another PR. A Centre Half needed also!
To me that's our 10m spent outwith any Players Rodgers has an eye for in the 500k bracket + any loans BR has up his sleeve from top sides in EPL.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jul 2017 09:34:54
Would like to have brought in more Oscar but I also know that's not always possible
1- manager said he would bring in a few then wait till near the end because more quality players become available
2- some of said quality players don't want to come till they see if we are in champions league.
I would rather wait on they quality players the manager wants rather than buy a lesser player just for the sake of buying a player.

Agree2 Disagree0

31 Jul 2017 16:16:50
I know kev. I am all for only bringing in quality players rather than numbers as we have done in the past. My only concern is we need quality to get into the champions league group stage. Yes we have quality in the squad but with injuries we are thin in certain positions eg CF and CB. All being fit l would be very confident. But if griffs is out we go into a massive game with no CF. And we saw where that got us last week. Not sure what young jack must be thinking. Surely he was worth a start against Sunderland unless he is out with an injury.

If Forrest plays upfront on Wednesday then we'd be aswell not turning up! What so many managers see in this guy I will never know! Like I said last week, I sit in the Lisbon lions upper but got a ticket for the main stand for Wednesdays game so I got to witness up close just how garbage this guy is! Yes people will say I'm being negative and all the rest, but for me there is no positives when it comes to Forrest! He'll have 2 decent games In 10 and they somehow warrants him being in the team! Brendan is really risking our CL chances if he puts him upfront on Wednesday!

With the final ball akin to big didi and the shooting radar of Brian mcglaughlin he'l bang em in. Headed hatrick I reckon.

30 Jul 2017 17:50:49
Agreed he blows hot and cold LH86 and flatters to deceive at times but on his game last year he was immense and kept Wee Pats arse warming the bench much of the time. I get the impression you're not s big Florist fan and understand your frustrations but a bit harsh LH86 naw? πŸ‘πŸ˜‚β˜˜οΈ.

Agree2 Disagree1

30 Jul 2017 17:56:34
Forrest had a good first half of the season even ED007 agreed at the time and we all know his take on "Florist" πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. But I just don't think he is consistent enough. He's definitely improved as a player under Rodgers but he isn't our answer to a RW. When there is better out there even at a lower cost than PR.

Agree0 Disagree1

30 Jul 2017 18:10:01
πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I maybe sound a bit harsh JFP. just don't rate the guy and never have mate! I wouldn't even have him In his natural position never mind hangin our hopes on Wednesday game on him upfront! To say it fills me with no confidence is an understatement! But hey he mite bang a couple in against rosenborg and I'll have egg on my face, but I seriously doubt it! Hope he proves me wrong but I've lost count how many times I've said that about him, and he never does!

Agree1 Disagree1

your right viking noticed when he lifted his shirt to wipe his face more pudge than you expect from a modern professional I was not impressed with him at all McGregor was the standout.

Agree1 Disagree1

30 Jul 2017 18:15:41
Putting him up front might be a masterstroke because it means he can make runs and drag defenders out of positions without having to give him the ball.

Agree0 Disagree1

30 Jul 2017 18:27:11
I thought Forrest and Sinky were our only below par players yesterday.

Agree1 Disagree1

30 Jul 2017 18:31:24
McGregor makes some amazing runs into space as well. Amazing finisher of the ball. Maybe he could be the centre of the False 9 we are looking for?

Agree2 Disagree1

30 Jul 2017 18:36:05
Fair points made by all. My issue with Forrest is his work rate. Quite often he loses the ball by cutting inside and then proceeds to jog as in some kind of token effort to get back to "help" defend.

There is no doubt he has talent when he turns up but when you look at the stick Calum McGregor gets when he works hard, is generally consistent and of late has improved massively I think Forrest deserves the criticism he gets.

Agree2 Disagree1

30 Jul 2017 19:01:18
Upfront might be a better option as he is hopeless out the wing. can't beat a man on go on the outside of the wing constantly cutting infield then passing it off. His shots as well all outside of the right foot.

Agree2 Disagree1

30 Jul 2017 19:28:57
Surely he's got to score the winner on Wednesday now after all of us giving him so much stick lol.

Funny enough the people who matter most, his managers, seem to appreciate his talents most . Lennon R D and B R all have used him very often for Celtic and WGS has used him often for Scotland . These people are to some extent putting their jobs at risk when they played him . Loud mouths in the stands and forum posters try to make the manager's job harder but so far Forrest and Brendan are currently winning.

I was a bit critical of McGregor (especially under RD) as he was very hot and cold and made some mistakes in big games; however he has really kicked-on under BR and found real consistency of performance and impressed very much in the run-in with goals and excellent displays.
We certainly have a great variety and balance in the middle of the park but still need more quality up top and at the back if we are to compete in Europe at some level?

Agree3 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 15:51:22
That's my point once a bhoy. He was up and down in his first couple years in the first team but he was only a young lad. Plus the team wasn't exactly flying either.
Always seems as if we are more patient with imports than our own.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 16:48:35

I really hope this is true; as Forrest is so inconsistent and often disappoints, while Hayes is still finding his feet.
We are a much better attacking team with PR in the side. Just hope we come good in Norway and get back on track for qualification so we can bolster the squad even more in the key areas we need to address?

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 15:29:10
Why would they let him go for 8million when they paid 9 for him, and his reputation has been enhanced up here.

Agree0 Disagree1

30 Jul 2017 17:19:36
Aindoh, man city could easily accept say 8 million even as you say they spent 9 million on him. There's no way city will lose on a deal for paddy. If we bought him for say 7 or even 8 million, I'm pretty sure they'd ask for a sell on clause and let's be honest, if he continues to progress they way he has then we'd sell him for a fortune giving city they're sell on clause plus I'm sure we'd also make on it mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 17:23:38

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Jul 2017 09:15:57
We played really well yesterday, Sinclair for me was really off it. Hoping he was more worried about getting injured than it being poor form.

Doesn't Kouassi look a good player? Our midfield is a bit packed, is there any likely hood of anyone leaving? Bitton and Henderson for me as the rest seem to be better.

Strikers? I honestly expected to see either Nadir or Jack to start the game to see if they could perform against Rosenborg, bit worried that this game without a striker will be more difficult than it should be? Fingers crossed Leigh makes it.

Now the big question? Does McGregor warrant a start?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

30 Jul 2017 10:36:33
I would start McGregor every week, thought last dozen or so games of last season he was outstanding. Couldn't believe he never started last Wed and more baffling he never even came on.

30 Jul 2017 10:55:49
Kouassi is startng to settle in and show some real quality I think. A perfect cover and understudy in the anchor for Broony, and dare I say it, might even start to challenge him in time?

Ntcham, McGregor and Armstrong competing for the more advanced role - Bitton and Henderson both look surplus I agree.

Would have loved Aitchison see a bit more game time, not just this preseason but last term too. Either he's seen as not ready or not able so that's somewhere we want to think about.

As for the big question, though he doesn't directly solve our 'problem' area for Rosenborg (striker) he has certainly given Rodgers food for thought with a hat trick.

Kouassi was the best player on the park yesterday, the father in law, who is a toon fan was raving about him all the way home.

Ajer was quality too, as was most of the bhoys but Sinclair does look off the boil to me.

I'd start with mcgregor and armstrong in midfield on Wednesday with sinky through the middle. I know I said he off the boil but I can't think of many better options.

Hoping Sinclair hasn't got the POTY curse that's affected a few of our players.

Jim, got to be honest, when we first got on the metro and there was over 100 bhoys on the Bucky and signing a few choice songs he was a bit overwhelmed but when I was telling a few of them it was his first game they were great with him.
He had a ball, spent most of the game watching the fans.
He wants us to move home so he can get a season ticket haha
Need to get up to more games with him.

Kev I don't think we desperately needed ntcham or benyu I don't think both are much better than Henderson if better at all (time will tell on that though) i agree biton surplus as kouassi looks far more mobile. i don't think if armstrong left it would hurt us too much although id prefer him to stay . as for mgregor he should have started last weds and should start this weds also. but having spent big on ntcham will he play regardless just to justify spend? . i think as big a question is Sinclair starting as he is looking poor just now . just a blip? For me team should be along the lies of:

Gordon
Lustig
Jozo
Ajer
Kt
Forrest
Mgregor
Brown
Armstrong
Sinclair
Rogic
Griffs/ if fit

If no griffs do we play aitcheson or cifti? . or as br hinted forrest up top and put in hayes rw. or add in kouassi and move mgregor up top. id prefer kouassi and mgregor option as it gives More central cover . but no matter who plays we need to up our game from last week.

Not Celtic but, Women's International Football - Is it any wonder everyone wants to see England get humped when this type of arrogant (and a bit insulting to the opposition) comment is made?

Manager Mark Sampson says England "do not need to be at our very best" to end a 43-year wait to beat France when they meet in the Euro 2017 quarter-final.

The Lionesses have lost to Les Bleues in their past three major tournaments and have failed to beat them in five games since Sampson took over in 2013.

But he said: "We want to be at our very best but the nice feeling is we don't need to be to win on Sunday.

"If we are then there's no question in my mind that we'll win comfortably. ".

I have watched the odd 15 mins or so of a few of the ladies Euro games. There is an occasional glimpse of talent but the bottom line is that a man's team from the lowest ranks of the Highland League would comfortably beat the eventual winners of this tournament. Don't get me wrong, I'm not sexist in any way, but women and football just don't go together in the same way that men and knitting can't find the sweet spot together either! lol HH.
