I see the sheep slip up again but you will get the ex Sevco sympathisers sticking up for mcinnes and proclaiming they are still serious contenders praying hoping we slip up?! I would love a couple of additions one up top and a central defender we live in hope all managers want that? Seems more teams in Scotland trying to play two up top may even see the hoops try that once Griffiths is fit and dare I say it Cole gets upto speed? Hope 2016 brings you all a bit more footballing happiness and more gits n shiggles from the new guys down Govan way. My wee girl Brooke is now six weeks old and can't wait fore a few years to pass till I get to take her to her first game at paradise. mon the hoops! 🍀.

Bigp

She's lucky. A few years to go eh? Tell her she ain't missing much LOL. Hopefully her first memory will be as sweet as my own; home win over Hamilton 8-3. Those wee the days LOL

As for c ole up to speed? Hmmm. Watching Carlton run is like watching something on slow motion. My guess is that Brooke will be able to name the first team by the time Carlton gets up o speed if indeed he ever does

Now back to positivity
Where was I.

Secretary off for the hols paradise? ;) .
Think my first game was against falkirk 2-1, Darren Jackson ended up playing GK and did well from what I remember!
On the topic of Cole big p I'm in agreement with paradise. He was burst and I mean dead on his feet after 10mins of his debut game a month ago. It wasn't his injuries that stopped us signing him during his trial. He clearly chucked it in the gym at the end of his w ham days and since. In the post match interview it looked like he had been fished out a canal.

Fair play to RD, he mighten have got the better of Frank on the pitch, but he has put the frighteners on Aberdeen who couldn't overcome our Derby rivals and we stay on top one point and two games in hand .
Not a bad SPL mid term report with the heavy schedule behind us.

I've never been concerned with Aberdeen this season, but it appears they have no bottle to ever go top of the league! And they didn't get a penalty tonight which was strange.

On another note, with the game being called off tonight I've got to watch dirty dancing on 5*; delighted!

Hey Ed, was wondering if you could shed any light on Janko situation? As far as I was aware he was injured for a month and a bit, came back and got no game time and is now injured again. From the small bits and peices I've seen of him I think he looks decent. Still got a bit of work to do on defending but think that will come. Has he been injured the full time and with this chat coming up about potentially loaning him out, is he in our first team thoughts, as I thought the whole reason he came to us is so Man U didn't loan him out again.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It must just be injuries, I seen him at the Motherwell game and he was on crutches.}

30 Dec 2015 22:12:13
I think nowadays players don't play whilst they are on crutches .

Aberdeen going top is not a big worry as they had the chance on Saturday at home and blew it; but I'm disappointed that out of the whole card - ours is the only game that is postponed, when most of the country has taken a similar battering with the storms and torrential rain.
On saying that, it's certainly not an ideal night to watch or play good football and I don't envy any supporter tonight.

Folks

I was thinking about my favourite Celtic team ( not necessarily the best man for man ) and it got me thinking. Obviously we are all of a different vintage but the team that I had the most positive feeling towards was the eleven that defeated rangers at Hampden in a league cup semi 3-1. It was 3 going on 5.

The reason I recall this team is because I had total confidence in them. They had their blips and they certainly weren't man for man extraordinary but they had a really good balance

On that night Bobby Petra played like cruyff!

Ed what was your favourite actual team? Not the best eleven but the team you most enjoyed watching and what game in particular did they shine?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I'd probably go with the 1985 Scottish Cup winning team, the whole day was one of the best days of my life. My dad took me as a surprise for my 11th birthday which was a couple of weeks before it and it was my first cup final. I got in to meet the players and Davie Hay afterwards as well.}

30 Dec 2015 16:25:19
For me it was the first cup final I was allowed to travel to on my own to Hamden and it was my fourteenth birthday on May 6 1972 against Hibs.
It was big Billy's last game as far as I remember and there were a few other 'Lions' at the twilight of their Celtic career.
We played fantastic football and won 6-1 against one of the best Hibernian teams I ever saw.
It was famous for Dixie Deans roily poly hat-trick - magic!

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 16:40:09
Like everyone probably tempted to go year 2000 team win over rangers 6-2 best game but opting for 85/ 86tram final game v st mirren, was just ready to start high school so was at the ideal age to start appreciating football and players ; we had some genuinely great players, mcstay, burns, mcgrain, mclair, johnstone ( aye a said it 😶) some great games that year going to go for newyear day game against rangers 2-0 mcgrain played a blinder that day also 4-4 against them was a great day and last game off season was the pinnacle.

The team that beat Liverpool @ Anfield 2 - 0 took 9 of my pals in private transport as a surprise most had to arrange time off very late in the day

Turned out we had some of the best seats in the house back row against a corrugated fence ( was disappointed how poor Anfield was)

When Thompson lined up that free kick my stupid pal shouted "bend it like Beckham) which upset the natives beside us in the main stand

When Hartson hit the second a swear to this day I knew it was in before anyone else because of my position :-)

To be fair after the result the Liverpool fans were very gracious and decent with us in defeat

We were very solid that night against expectations, great memories and journey home (y)

Is right Great corner from Charlie Gallagher .
If Stein hadn't been such a great manager a lot of fans would have criticised the little he used the graceful Charlie Gallagher, a wonderful ball player, but I suspect he didn't work hard enough on the pitch.

For 2016 all I want is

A group of players that give it their all

Demonstrative passion

A togetherness

Leadership in every discipline even if that only provides us with 3 leaders who want the ball when others don't and who want to shape and influence the game when the game is running away from us

Any sign of actual tangible progress. Progress week to week will be a catalyst for rising interest among fans

Disincentives for players who are out of form such as being dropped

Less squad rotation provided the current eleven are showing positive progress

A full 90 minutes

As a group on a forum there is a clear chasm as big as Grand Canyon but the reality is that we want the same things

A winning Celtic
A Celtic that gives us a reason to be proud

I am not terribly proud of our PLC or our management of late and I don't think the players are going at full pelt

When we need to read about passion and hunger from BITTON of all players it makes me angry. He's a player alright but he can sleepwalk his way through 30 minutes without tackling and shows a total lack of leadership. He is young and has some way to go but I am tired of key players conveying messages that don't remotely apply to them week to week

Our only hope ( with no possibility of spending big to fix the quality gap ) is to rear our own and work on what we have

RD needs to assess his options and cure each player"s faults as best he can and somehow try to increase confidence

A confident Celtic with players prepared to run harder for longer will land us 10 more points than what our current trajectory promises

ED we are all Celtic supporters who love the escapism that a winning Celtic full of passion and pride provides for millions

We don't need to be Leicester or anyone else for that matter

We just want our Celtic back, the Celtic that start fast and finish with a flurry and dominate domestically. Our resources should make this realistic for 2016

Happy new year to all.

I agree with most Paradisewon, squad rotation is important as folks on here said that MO'N had the players on their knees when they lay down to 'Well and lost League .
Players confidence, I agree 100% and it is one of the very few areas Celtic supporters, fans sandwich eaters and people attending, as well as Celtic bloggers and posters, we can all build players confidence .
I want Our Celtic back with all of us becoming Celtic supporters and helping to build confidence .
Finally I agree with a group of players who demonstrate passion for and an aloge there's with management, each other and our supporters .
Paradisewon, it's difficult for us to make a major change in our transfer budget availability, or our tactics, as we would never agree, but us supporters can really build confidence, togetherness passion, will you start this off for 2016 .

Agree1 Disagree3

30 Dec 2015 14:58:04
Totaly disagree, Oldbhoy, about squad rotation, MO'N s players might have been on their knees due to exhaustion, but that was'nt because they gave their all during a long hard season, they had played together and gelled together and became a better team because of it, I think the reason they were on their knees was the psychological effect of Seville, I think squad rotation and zonal defence are footballs equivalent of the emperors new clothes.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 16:02:27
Aindoh you are spot on. You need to get your best 11 on the park each week. They play together and get confidence as they play and win. If there is an injury you replace that player. Look at what happened last season when Ronnie rotated the squad. Get your top 11 playing and it may be a good idea to get them laying in positions they know how to play in. I didn't see Stein rotating too much in his time and the game is no different and in fact with advances in nutrition and training methods the players are better equipped now to play 2 games a week. Pitches are unbelievably better, players are better looked after so this players are tired stuff is nonesense.

Old bhoy

My post was designed to start off confidence building for 2016

Let's see if the players can show a little more too

I do agree. The likes f izzy and ambrose hardly had the support during their troubled times.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 22:40:57
I was thinking of 2005 Aindoh and it would be strange if the effects of Seville were still tiring Celtic and caused them to be on their knees .
I know that most successful managers change the team around .
However people with more Senior top management than me know different and would play their first eleven twice a week from July to May .

Paradisewon we are almost at one, I agree with what u say and the treatment of Izzy and Ambrose shows just where our supporters can improve .
Why were Hearts fans laughing at Ambrose when he came on, do you think it was because some of our fans laughed at Ambrose last season when he came on .

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 22:58:13
Old bhoy I remember laughing at a Rangers substitution when they brought on Konterman at Hampden and he scored a bobby dazzler within. 3 minutes

The smile was soon wiped off my face. Karma can be funny like that

Valuable lesson learned

Jo Inge Berget would have enjoyed his 3 strikes against us too.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Dec 2015 23:09:28
Old Bhoy, it would be interesting if you looked at how many players 'the most successful managers' used in a season, and compare it to how many Ronnie uses.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Dec 2015 16:09:37
Aindoh, can u list the names of the most successful managers and players who had played as many matches as Celtic had by mud December .
Leicester City had played 13 matches less .
We should always be careful of our facts before directing nonsense in direction of one person .
