Former Fifa boss resigns over bribes
30 April 2013 Updated 13:02

Joao Havelange, 96, has resigned as Fifa's honorary president after a report ruled he had taken bribes.
The Brazilian was described as "morally and ethically reproachable" for taking kickbacks from a World Cup rights marketing agency.
The report by Fifa's ethics chairman Hans-Joachim Eckert (external) also claimed Nicolas Leoz had received bribes.
Leoz, 84, resigned from the governing body's executive committee last week, citing health and personal reasons.

About time corruption is sorted at the top but equally when will it get sorted in our wee country's Association? Should Hans-Joachim Eckert investigate here? Is Campbell Ogilvie, EBT BENEFICIARY and President of the SFA "morally and ethically reproachable" for taking EBT payments from offshore accounts thus avoiding social taxes? Why is his SFA continually behaving like The Rangers cheerleaders in regards of serious offences instead of footballs governing body?

Oh dear!

TRFC have had to appoint a QC to deal with the stuff being turned up by the solicitors, Pinsent Masons, investigating sevco5088 and links between Ahmad, Green and other employees and Craig Whyte. Obviously too tough for the solicitors.

Shouldn't the SFA NOT BE APPOINTING ANOTHER THREE QCs TRIBUNAL?

Deary Deary me!!

Clearly Neil Lennon IS the manager of the year.

No matter what criteria is applied, Neil comes out on top. Winning the SPL, the top elite league in Scottish football should in itself be enough. It normally has previously been enough.

Add to that a Scottish Cup finalist, and he's easily four lengths ahead of the competition.

Lastly, there's the outstanding run in the Champions League, to the Elite last 16 clubs in Europe. Delivering an historic ten points in the Group stage. Never before achieved by a Scottish club. Achieved with the lowest budget of all Group stage clubs and with the youngest squad.

What did the other Scottish club's managers deliver domestically or in their lower level Europa Cup endeavours? Nothing to even come close to Lennons achievements.

Had they been given the youthful, inexperienced, inexpensive Celtic team, could they have motivated them and delivered the game strategies to deliver last sixteen? NO CHANCE.

With the reporting and bad press that game last night is getting today for both sets of supporters (Although going by what i'm hearing the pictures are giving the impression it was mostly our supporters) The Green Brigade must be glad they gave it a body swerve last night. I mean can you imagine what would have been said about them today. They would have been a ready made scapegoat. Whoever made the suggestion to not go deserves praise and probably avoided them getting more unprovoked, undeserved "treatment" from the police.

As for the wee neds who went and behaved like that last night. Your parents must be proud. F*ds

I have only read comments on here about the youth game at Firhill and am in no position to enlarge on it or contradict. The consensus is that fans from both sides took part in dis-tasteful and offensive behaviour. A disgraceful backdrop for a Youth game.
The media will pick and choose what to report and even sensationalize as we know all too well.

I was glad when Rangers collapsed in Feb 2012 as I believed they got what they deserved based on the alleged Tax evasion, EBT's and overwhelming debts.
Since then they have escaped blame or punishment for either and re-application to the SFL was a consequence of Administration and Liquidation.
I know there are many other issues regarding owners, previous owners and multiple admin and legal issues, but my point is about supporters attitudes.

Before, when we had an 'Old Firm' there was banter, wind-ups (eg Seville) hatred, and sadly violence.
Families/friendships were divided temporarily until a wee while after the games.
Since 2012 there seems to be less banter and humour and much more bitterness and hatred and I unfortunately include my own family in this.

There is an unhealthy air in Glasgow/Scotland in the wake of Ranger's demise and I blame the media as primary culprits in peddling bile and intolerance.
Many Celtic fans feel there have been cover-ups and even corruption as to the whole 'Rangers' question.
While The Ranger's supporters are furious about what happened to their team and who exactly is to blame.
There is a defiance about their identity and their history because too many cowards have lied to them within their own ranks, media and Football authority.
Deflecting blame and truth with self induced mini crisis and distractions and smoke screens.

The SPL and SFL are desperately convening meeting after meeting to 're-organise' Scottish Football and manoeuvre a set-up to accommodate an SPL2 for reasons that are obvious and seemingly desired by 'The Five Families' for the survival of the game?
But I feel 'Old Firm' games are best resigned to the history books as the 'next version' in whatever capacity will be a volcano of hatred and abuse with little interest in any apparent football match.

Supporters should know better, but some are bent out of shape with parental/pier pressure + influence, encouraging them to behave obnoxiously intolerant.
But that's the way the press/media like it; as it fills web space and sells papers and they are the worst bigots, who get a 'stiffy' writing and promoting bile.

Well done to both sets of players and coaches involved in last night's game. The fans of both clubs have only strengthened opinion that future clashes between the two would be better played behind closed doors - I'm sure Sly would agree.

Nipping in for a sandwich this morning and the front of the DR rag had a picture of the Celtic fans, one with a seat in his hand. Lead you to believe that damage to seats was caused only by the mindless among the Celtic support. But when you actually deal in facts instead of promoting an agenda then all isn't what it seems. Ian Maxwell, General Manager of Thistle said, '10 rows of seats were damaged covering both sets of fans'. Any Hoops fans left buying this rag please refrain.

Oh here we go, all the fans for both sides that have decided they are in a position to take the moral high ground and it's a competition to see who behaved the most badly. I had to drive over to Firhill last night as my Son was at the game and it was like a delinquent high school day out.

He was away before I got in from work (his Dad let him go but that's another story lol) but the updates from folk on twitter etc had me thinking he was in a war zone! Folk on social media sites like twitter etc feel the media do not report the facts but it was okay for them to comment on a match they were not at and put the fear of God into Parents like me. Just shows attention seeking, desperate for followers are just as bad as the media they think they are so much better than.

I do not care if Celtic's opposition last night is referred to as Rangers/zombies/The Rangers or whatever and cannot believe so may are putting an emphasis on this but I suppose whatever floats your boat.

The point is, this was a kids game with kids at the game. The songs you could clearly hear from both sides must have been taught in the house or by another adult.

I am fed up with folk using football as a vent for hate. We all know there is rivalry and Celtic and Rangers have a well documented 'history'.

As it was, he was fine but I could tell he was a bit worried.

I still cannot believe that the old RFC got found guilty of EBTs over 11 years OF corrupting the SPL but didn't have the dirty tainted titles stripped.
An internal committee by the SPL was wholly wrong for such a serious league fixing allegation.
When will the proper governing bodies; SFA and UEFA deal with this matter?
Why is UEFA allowing TRIFC to pass itself off as RFC which is being liquidated?
I'm not putting another penny into Scottish football until the above two issues are dealt with properly and I urge all who put money into the game to do the same.
Why do sponsors not insist on sorting this? Is this why Clydesdale Bank walked away? Because their prime sponsorship the SPL has been corrupted for 11 years?

Trust A££y McCostly to find free grub in Glasgow. 10,000 Chipatis and 3,000 Samosas. But was it enough?

On top of the seats being ripped out, the main talking points have been about chanting. Celtic supporters were heard singing pro-IRA songs as well as songs mocking the Ibrox disaster, while Rangers fans sang the 'famine song'.

Now, what I don't understand is why are Celtic fans so mad? According to them, tonight's opponents were a new club whom they have no emotional or historical attachment to and who are nobodies to Celtic, although Celtic's official twitter account evidently disagree as they continually referenced 'Rangers' in match updates. Nevertheless, why did the defeat hurt those in attendance so badly that they felt the need to damage a neutral stadium? Better still, why did they sing songs previously heard mainly at games against their supposed dead Glasgow rivals, Rangers? Even stooping so low as to mock the 66 who went to a game and never returned home. Or why did so many of them even turn out for the match against the U17's team representing this football club they claim is nothing but an imposter of the now defunct Glasgow Rangers?

How baised can the media get.

TROUBLE broke out at an Old Firm match last night — after fans let off SMOKE BOMBS.
The under-17 game at Firhill had to be delayed after objects were thrown on to the pitch.

And some Celtic fans were spotted ripping up seats at Partick Thistle’s ground.

Fans let off smoke bombs but Celtic fans rip up seats.

I don't condone any of this but the wording and pictures say 2 different things.

It is now a year since the last ever Old Firm game. Given the events at last night's under 17's game, I think we should leave this game in the past, it obviously bring out the worst in the daftees in our support, Celtic embarrassed once again and left footing the bill for stadium damage, well done lads!
