Hi Ed was reading today that Steven MacLean is eligible to play tomorrow why is that if he was given a two match ban. oldkilly.

{Ed007's Note - One of the matches is in the LC next year, so he missed Wednesday's derby and the first LC game of next season.}

Cheers. oldkilly.

Evening Ed. Do you think that we will be able to thin the squad and free up some wages for transfers in January?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I'm hoping we can, a clear out is long overdue and we'll need space in the squad for new additions over the next 2 windows.}

02 Nov 2018 21:10:18
I hope so too. Even though we are coming on to some good football, we still need an injection of new blood.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Lustig's contract is up in the summer and I can see him moving on, Benkovic will likely head back to Leicester, Boyata's for the off in January or the summer and a replacement for Gordon a must over the next 2 windows - let's hope Lawwell doesn't do what he done with RD in his second season after we lost both VVD & Denayer.}

02 Nov 2018 22:07:27
I wouldn’t be too hasty about cleaning out squad players. I remember a couple of years ago thinking ‘why does McGregor even get a game’? Look at him now. I also remember a couple of weeks ago, quite a few were suggesting Ryan Christie wasn’t good enough. Again, he’s looking very promising at the moment. If we do release some and sign others, they have to be better than the ones that are leaving.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Scott Allan, Compper, Gamboa, de Vries, Izaguirre, Bitton, Hayes..... which of those players should we wait and see what happens with?}

02 Nov 2018 23:14:33
If I knew the answer to that one, I’d be sitting in the dugout tomorrow.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Hahaha But you know what I mean, there's a few quid in wages that are offering diddly squat on the park, the problem is the cost of paying them off or finding anyone stupid enough to buy them. Allan, Gamboa, Izaguirre and de Vries contract's are all up so that's a good start but Compper, Bitton and Hayes will be hard to shift, it's a shame the way things have worked out for Hayes right enough.}

All the players, that ed has listed up there have age against them, apart from Allan, who has never been given a real chance, but the rest of them must be moved on,

I do know what you mean but suppose we do move those players on and replace them. The new guys are probably going to be doing the same as they ones who just left. We can only put 11 players on the field and we need decent squad players that are willing to work hard in training and wait on the sidelines till they get a chance.

Suppose N’tcham loses his place to one of the new guys. Will he be willing to sit it out till he gets his chance again or will he look for a move elsewhere? That’s the dilemma if you’re looking to bring new players in and stability is vital to a winning squad.

I think Izzy will be kept next year as we need cover In case Teirney injured. Bitton is a player the gaffer seems to like so I expect Jim to still be around as well.

I like Bitton. In the early stages of BR’s tenure, he was a first choice midfielder and he only lost out because McGregor stepped up and N’tcham came in and both improved the team. He could still do a job when required and he offers us cover in other positions and who’s to say he won’t hit form and win his place back? Agree about Izzy as well. I like the fact that guys who were previously first choice players are now squad players. That’s some level of strength in depth.

Somebody suggested hearts and hibs should play their next derby games behind closed doors due to the incidents in the week there.

Thoughts?

No way. Why should the actions of a few ar§exiles spoil it for normal fans.

Be careful what you wish for. The “authorities” will use the same punishment on us if one of us looks at them the wrong way.

I think something drastic has to be done as this can’t go on. Players and managers from outside Scotland will think twice about coming here if this is going to be standard behaviour. I also think that we have to do something about the paper cups and stuff that are thrown at Sevco players when they go to take a corner kick at CP. It’s intimidation and I always feel that we should be better than that.

Remember LG getting booked at ibrox for picking up the buckie bottle?

I wouldn’t want the closed door scenario but something needs to be done. No idea what though

Do the SFA have a policy? Mind you the SFA couldn’t manage SFA.

It's nice to see that French Eddy is still on the reduced shortlist of players for the European Goldenboy award. I did find it strange though that there were no Sevco players on the list. I'm sure I read in the press recently that Slippy G had done very well in the transfer market whilst there were a number of pundits suggesting that there was an issue with our recruitment. Who knows, i'm sure there's a logical explanation for this.

After we play Jambos on Saturday we have not got a home league game until December 8th against Killie. We were supposed to have been home to st. Johnstone on cup final day. In between those home games we have 3 away league matches against Livingston, Hamilton and Motherwell midweek.

Domestically; We had only one home game in the whole of Oct and same again this month. If our rivals, the fake news and the establishment can't beat us, neither will the (random) fixture computer ha ha.

I posted recently that Celtic had an incredible fixture list, since September 23 at Kilmarnock until Rosenberg on November 29 it was 14 games with only 4 at Celtic Park, and now with reaching league cup final it's 16 games and still only 4 at home quite remarkable. oldkilly.

@Leon, OAB and Kev. They needed to give Sevco 2 months home games to keep the Ibrokes lights on.

See big Sutton condemning Gary Caldwell for saying Neil brings a lot of the stuff on himself. for a former Celtic player that's really poor and fair play to Derek mcinnes he also condemned it . think Caldwell regretting it now.

Caldwell has always had a big mouth and thinks he's brighter than he is.

It’s a moronic thing to say and it only serves to give justification to the actions of these thugs. No one should be subjected to violence when they’re trying to do their job. However, I don’t think he is the sharpest tool in the box and I’d imagine the ‘investigative reporter’ who got him to say this was very aware of that when he asked his questions.

Caldwell was merely pointing aot about NL actions.
I mean, just because he is the manager and has put the squad together, trained and coached them, selected the tactics for the game and then seen the same team win games.
Is that really an excuse for celebrating?
