Use our rumours form to send us celtic transfer rumours.

Got to agree with a lot of what has already been said, there has been a huge jump forward from this time last year and Rodgers has raised the game of so many players, Gordon can spread the ball now and is a lot more commanding in his box, Armstrong (who I thought cruelly had a bad night yesterday) is looking to live up to his potential and Brown is on fire. MD will most likely not stay but if he goes, 40 mill is not likely but half of that could be on the cards. If a good portion of that and the CL money is given to BR and a bit put into our facilities, we could see Celtic soar. Like many, I am enjoying watching the team and feel genuine pride again rather than lamenting missed opportunities. Cannot see us getting the post Xmas Euro football but a treble and the bedding in of a squad that can walk the Summer qualifiers would be great. Also the BMG fans joining in YNWA was beautiful. Loving my football the now :)

My sentiments too Daviebhoy. Always good to be a follower of our unique institution but the feel good factor on and off the park for now and the immediate future is the best I can remember. I'm enjoying the stuff being served up now more than Martin's team ( other than the King of course) . We are on the up and up. I'm in a constant glow of all good things Celtic with every reason to think that's the way it will be for YEARS!

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Nov 2016 22:59:11
Enjoying it more than martins team! Think that's taking it a bit to far to be honest. yes I'm enjoying watching us at the moment and over the next few transfer windows Brendan will add more quality. but for me it's nowhere near oneils team! Sutton petrov hartson Thompson Lennon lambert are of a far higher standard, and that's not even counting Henrik! Like I said I'm loving what Brendan's doing but MON team brought me so many amazing memories and this team aren't near that yet! But fingers crossed they will be one day!

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - The difference in the style of football is night and day so I can see where Nora's coming from but Rodgers has a lot to do before he gets anywhere near MON's achievements for us.}

03 Nov 2016 08:00:52
I agree, one swallow does not make a summer.

MON - treble, UEFA cup final
Let's not forget our neighbours across the city were splashing the cash (that they didn't have) .

If BR stays to take us to ten in a row, with domestic trophies and some euro adventures along the way then for me that would eclipse anything I've seen in my lifetime as a time.
10 in a row is the holy grail for me.

While I agree with everything already said, my biggest joy is that our manager has a plan B and a Plan C when plan A is not working.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 Nov 2016 13:49:55
I agree with most of what Davie bhoy writes, although I can't see why a good man like Davie seems anxious to talk up Dembele's exit . Dembele has said frequently he wants to stay for years and I for one hopes he does .
As far as B R having a long way to go to catch up with M O 'N it's reasonable to assume he would have four or five years .

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Nov 2016 14:45:55
Let's just hope BR is here to do 10 in a row and then as Buzz Lightyear says, to infinity and beyond.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2016 17:27:23
Oldbhoy, I would love nothing more than MD to stay and believe that he could become a true great if he did. I believe the noises about he is making too but if a superpower team offers us crazy money, what would happen? I want nothing more than for him to stay, he is amazingly aggressive, aware and agile. Almost like a 3 Centre Half when we defend corners and he bullies players all over the park.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2016 17:31:57
May be I got a wee bit carried away there. Pure joy and excitement with the way Brendan has us playing and building something special. I live in Ireand and only manage over about 6 times a year on my season ticket but the Celts are with me every day. I'm just a bhoy hopelessly in love!

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2016 17:58:29
@DavieBhoy - you forgot to mention his crazy eyes ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Nov 2016 18:41:19
Daviebhoy do you not think super power clubs funded rotten to the core by over rich foreign capitalists and tv money showed interest in Larrsson and when that happened Dermot D told them their interest wasn't welcome and told them to back off . I believe as long as Dembele insists on wanting to stay, he will be here.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Nov 2016 19:07:55
I really hope you're right man. Good shout on the crazy eyes Rab, in the Hasselbank league!

03 Nov 2016 23:32:48
Old bhoy, wake up
And smell the coffee . He's been here for 4 months, on the bench for the first month . What kind of affinity can you grow in that time . I've no doubt he loves playing for Celtic but I bet he'd love playing for a club who
Is willing to play three times more for his services . I'd be really happy if we got one more season out of dembele, but that is the best we can hope for in my opinion . I'd wish him well wherever he went, and hope Cfc use the money wisely . That's the reality .

I think Dembele chose Celtic instead of a mid table or top of the table EPL team, because he wanted to test himself in first team football and European experience .
Dembele's experience to date must have far exceeded his widest dreams . Although he could possibly earn more money elsewhere, he knew that before he came here . He certainly must feel he is developing v well with us and should be reluctant to change .

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Nov 2016 15:29:05
Dembele is our back up if we fail to qualify for champions league, on a more positive note let BR utilise about 15 million and we will be in a great position come the qualifying rounds in the summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Nov 2016 18:45:32
Renz67 . Brendan could easily spend your mythethical £15 and sign a striker who could turn out not nearly as good as Dembele .
Why are so many of our fans are not believing Demebele is beyond me . We are used to the SMSM encouraging players to leave, but now it seems to be the fans who do the most talking about it.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Nov 2016 12:50:37
Really enjoying this season, the team is playing really well, everyone looks motivated and hungry. What's really pleasing is that BR reacts to the match and makes changes, and when players aren't up to it, Armstrong speeds our play up so much better than bitton for our system. I'm just thinking if we can build on this next season, we really will be a handful!

Believable6 Unbelievable6

02 Nov 2016 17:50:54
Prior to BR appointment a lot of posts seemed to say that BR doesn't have the tactical awareness to change a system, I didn't know enough about BR to have an opinion on this, but it seems to be part of his style up here.
So far he seems to be quite positive in respect to substitutions.

Agree3 Disagree3

02 Nov 2016 18:54:13
Most things seem to be coming right for Celtic just now . One of the reasons is that Brendan has surrounded himself with players he likes and players who like him . This means I M O players are going and giving the extra bit in training and this shows in matches . Last night the players were out on their feet, two high paced hard working games 3 days apart but the team didn't give up from start to end .
I think Brendan may be going to have a problem, last season with his 40 goals L Griffiths was the golden eye bhoy . Leigh started this season well but an injury put him out of the first game against a Govan side and Dembele has been brilliant . B R doesn't want to alter the team's formation and is worried about playing 2 strikers, something has to happen or we will have a blip in the squad.

Agree0 Disagree3

02 Nov 2016 19:15:33
Griffiths has still been playing most matches, although he has been coming on as a sub.

It is just hard luck for him because you can't drop Dembele now. So Griffiths will just have to be happy with his cameo appearances and patiently wait for an opportunity.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Nov 2016 20:25:30
I think the team will be enhanced with Dembelle and Griffiths playing together, just don't think of it as playing two strikers.

Agree0 Disagree2

02 Nov 2016 21:45:16
I daresay that you could play Griffiths and Dembele in the same team but Rodgers has his system and unfortunately for Griffiths he only wants to play one striker at the start of each match. It is hard to argue against Rodgers system as it is bringing success and entertainment.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Nov 2016 13:56:23
Aindoh, I have no problem with B R should he want to play four strikers, as long as he is successful at Celtic and playing attractive football, he deserves the right to play whatever formation he thinks is best .
B R has frequently said it is nothing to do with playing 2 strikers, it's more the need to play the other nine outfield players doing the job he wants them to do.

Wonder what you all will make of my take on our Champions League games.
It is our home form that has let us down, I think we let Man City off the hook and should have won that game.
As for the home game against the Germans I felt Rodgers and team believed all the hype after good City performance and maybe even underestimated Borussia, and our work rate in that game was nowhere near what the players put in the City game.
After Barcelona getting beat last night they will now come to Glasgow determined to win and top group, whereas if they had won last night they might have rested some players. As for away game in Manchester, I honestly cannot see us getting anything as City will be more prepared for us now.

Believable0 Unbelievable5

02 Nov 2016 13:23:02
I reckon we could not have hand-picked a more difficult group than this one and although we are making good progress and playing very well in most games this season, we are where we are in terms of Europe - as a pot 4 club, as we have steadily deteriorated.
I mentioned last night that we have been changing managers and rebuilding teams time and time again while the board have sold every decent prospect or quality far too often since 2012 (granted a few did want to leave of their own accord) .
The current squad have limitations and inexperience in areas and I think we have done very well in two of the group games at home to City and last night we were unlucky not to get a win.
The Barcelona game was a nightmare of nerves and fear, while the home game against BMG was poor preparation and complacency.
European football after Christmas would seem to be beyond us now, with the way the group sits and the games remaining, but hopefully we will see more quality additions and improvement in the current team to prepare us for another crack next season - and maybe a group without Barcelona for a wee change?

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Nov 2016 19:00:36
Quite right probably couldn't have picked a harder qroup . That German team has shown us that if we do the right things in the important areas of the pitch we can bring a team down to size . The Germans looked a very good team in Glasgow but we probably were as good if not better in Germany .
Any result is possible in the last two games, I know both Barcelona and City are far superior on paper, but thankfully both games are on grass.

As it stands broony has made more passes and has the best pass completion stats then any other British player in the CL you couldny have said that last year what a turnaround.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

02 Nov 2016 10:38:48
That is because he was injured lol.

Anyway, I actually pointed this out the season before last season, when people were saying how crap Brown was at passing but most don't want to accept facts I noticed.

Agree2 Disagree4

02 Nov 2016 10:49:08
Aye rab to be fair he was struggling with injury but there's always been a player there.

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Nov 2016 10:49:25
They didn't Rab. Somebody even tried to belittle him comparing his passing to a CBs lol. Season before last RD came out with the stats on his forward passing but it didn't sink in with some. I'm glad the dozens on here calling for Brown to be sold weren't listened to. He's fit, and at the age now where he's experienced enough to be a real general, and this is one of his best seasons so far. He's played plenty of delightful balls through this season. But passing is just a small aspect of his game. Celtic Legend.

Agree1 Disagree3

02 Nov 2016 11:02:17
An important note as well mally, I read the other day of the 30 something players who have tried more passes, only 4 have a better success rate.

Seen that Jim, personally av always liked him even through the bad times but this is the best av seen him it's like having a new player, some credit got to go to the manager who seems to have put an arm round him and he's responded.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Nov 2016 12:35:52
Jim Tim, I have to hold my hands up. For ages I supported Brown and recognised how important he was to the team. I backed him up on here when lots of people were having a dig.

All that being said, after we got beat by Rangers in the cup I was outraged by his lack of effort (now know he was injured) and he was not the only guilty party. It was at this point I wanted him gone because lack of effort is a big no no for me and I thought many of our players let the fans down that day. However, I am delighted that he has recaptured his form as he has proven himself to be a great captain since Lennon took the reigns and apart from last season, he has set a high standard.

Great to see this level of performance from our club captain.

Glad to be wrong.

Another thing about Brown I love is he's a Celtic man through and through irrespective of Republican Joey the Budgie Barton posting photos of him in Rangers top as a young boy. As Mr Stein said 'Celtic weren't my first love-But they'll be my last'. Jock was our greatest manager and Scott has earned the right to be considered a great captain 🍀.

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Nov 2016 20:46:39
Have to agree lads, always liked n rated broony and I think he has added more to his game, in terms of temperament n driving us on, when he doesn't play he is a big miss n i like the dig n passion he shows 4 the cause, n he is an underrated player n better than a lot give credit. The stats show it but unlike some he does his talking n the park where it matters.
He was great under Rd when it, those who know Celtic will realise during rd's tenure that broony played well n drove the team on (it wasn't all doom n gloom like some will try n make out) and I think brendan coming in has had a big impact on him but also others, correct me if I'm wrong Ed but I had it in my head u or possibly Norwegian red posted that brendan was similar coach to Rd but a few years more developed n that the emphasis was on attacking football, high pressing, that style.
Have to say great performance last night n despite the fact we deserved to win, was still so happy n proud St the end of the game, felt sorry for wee McGregor but these things happen. As for Roberts, I've said it on here repeatedly we are more of a threat with him n the team n the ball to McGregor was sublime.
A lot to be positive about as Celtic fans n the team, as most have said, if given the right backing n type of player we r 2 or 3 away from a quality team to start looking for any in Europe, not saying we will win anything but the results show we aren't too far away despite not spending too much but bringing the right quality of player in. Ed007 was spot on about wages if u need to extend it or pay a bit more for that e tea quality then it's worth it, add our youth n i thought Henderson did well when he came on, their player should have saw red for the boot this head, McGregor did alright too when he came on n thought Emilio was great too, dembele n sinclairs quality has just lifted everybody n it is great compeyition, a goalkeeper of that quality as well as a central mid in beside brown n that's a strong team.
Hail hail.

{Ed007's Note - I don't think even I would compare Ronny to Rodgers - Rodgers has given me some of my biggest laughs from football in recent years at Liverpool.}

03 Nov 2016 13:59:42
Sometimes people who don't understand laugh the most .
I cannot believe how any supporter can laugh when things are not right at their club.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - And sometimes people are just too thick to understand what they've read and they then make themselves look even more foolish by commenting on it - it can become a habit and obviously already has for some.}

03 Nov 2016 14:36:11
Yes, I have been surprised by some, but then EPL supporters are very special.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - They must be but I've never met someone who supports a league, most people choose a team to support.}

03 Nov 2016 17:53:34
Haha like it Ed, just glad that brendan is doing well for us and it's early days but maybe he has learned from mistakes at liverpool. either way whoever the manager or players I'll back and it's always great to be a Tim.

03 Nov 2016 18:46:25
Supporting a member of the league that has been corrupted by money is given a level of support to that league . Of course there are life long supporters of their local club who can be excused from folowing the money .
People like that usually support club through good times and bad.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Why don't you follow your local club? Are you and SPFL supporter then?}

04 Nov 2016 13:59:23
There is no local professional league where I live . I support a team from the nearest professional league from my home . In my teens and early twenties I lived in Glasgow .
Maybe I can have your permission to support Celtic?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Isn't it the rest of us who should be asking for your permission? It's you that sees themselves as some kind of super-fan who can preach to everybody else about how to support the Club.
You need my permission to post on here though, remember that.}

New manager

Some promising signings

CL qualification

Terrible draw, but we've got points on the board.

Significant cash in the bank

Manager putting his stamp on the club

Entertaining football

Let's hope we have more investment in the playing side come Jan/ summer.

10 in a row.

Since his arrival I haven't been hugely impressed with Gamboa. This has probably been a mix between him not having an awful lot of game time and him still finding his feet within the team/ system. However last night I did notice that he used his rapid speed to run the ball down the flank at times when we were under pressure and, although more often than not he lost it, it gave the rest of the players a breather and a chance to push up the park and not stay camped on our 18 yard line. Very clever play if it was intentional.

Me neither mate, and not so much a dig at him but because of the resons you have given. He is lightning, and it looks like his main attribute. Used correctly it could be very effective at both ends if the pitch. I love lustig, but at RB there's still that cloud of getting a strain hanging over him for me. Gamboa is a decent option to have.

Good sound performance, the stats were encouraging for an away game. Leaps and bounds. If we can hold onto the cream and twig here and there Celtic can compete at CL group stage. Infact I'd go as far as to say a kinder draw we could have been talking qualification from group stage this season.
BR wouldn't have been my first choice but now, well.

02 Nov 2016 07:47:09
A few more signings like we've seen this summer and we'll have the makings of a right good side. A side that as you say, could get out of a kinder group. I don't remember BR being anybody's first choice actually, and for what we spent on BR we might have got better, but he wants to be here, and I'm not sure you could say that about any of those better managers. He is a highly regarded manager though, and it was a much needed statement of intent by the club.

I posted this a while ago and it backs up what Jim Tim is saying.

Just imagine what our team would be like if we still had Wanyama, van Dijk and Forster. Which shows we are only a few players away from a right good team, assuming we get the right quality in.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Nov 2016 10:28:51
That would be some team Rab. Departures are part and parcel, I think another way to look at it would be, imagin if those players had just been replaced a bit better. What I like most about BR at the helm is that he COMMANDS. He's more of a proper manager. Hopefully there'll be that bit more to spend for him, and he'll do it only on players that will improve us unlike JP.

If RD was still in charge we would have lost that by about 6 goals. The progress we have made in only 5 months is very promising. Everyone had us down for a beating tonight especially with forced changes in defence 3 who all could have started out, so makeshift defence who played well enough. To leave there with a draw well not many teams do that. We have went toe to toe with top european teams and looked good. I am looking foward to Barcelona who won't relish cojing to paradise. We have nothing to lose, can't wait oh and a wee cup final beckons. what's to moan about. its gravy.

I had us down for a win then a draw against BMG. I was actually ridiculed for it but I maintain if we had of turned up in the first leg we could have won. Last night was a good result and a very encouraging performance. I really hope the players have the bit between their teeth now. We all know that a result against Barcelona at CP is not out the question. Then in the last games of the group, you never know what sort of strength side you might face. Our European campaign this term isn't over by any means. It's a process, and we're heading in the right direction.

02 Nov 2016 09:27:59
Look cavalcanti, I know it's a long shot, and i wouldn't put money on it, but half the battle is attitude and confidence. Depends how you look at it, it could be a Barcelona side that are going to set things straight, or it could be a Barcelona side that have had the wind knocked out of them. I think the most likely scenario now of Europe after crimbo is City and Barcelona being qualified before the last game with a win each. And in that last game us and BMG could face weakened sides. We get a result, they don't. It can happen, the margin for error can be small and between positions in a four team group. Ifs and buts of course but without two costly errors against BMG at home, we're above them on head to head. That's not a dig at Toure by the way, just an example that things can easily sway for or against you. There's nothing to lose being an optomist, I hope the players have the same attitude going into the next two games. HH.
