I have it on good authority that Armstrong will be sold this window. My mate works at Shawfield and he shouted last nite, 'The hair's away! '.

I think that if we can get Steven Caulker in and he can keep his head healthy, that he would be a great signing for us. Not sure if the Glasgow goldfish bowl would be good for him though.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

03 Jan 2018 10:31:49
Thats exactly my feelings on it mate, look what the fans did to ambrose, destroyed his confidence and that was a man with a clear mind, but a fit caulker that got over his demons would be an outstanding signing imo.

Agree0 Disagree3

03 Jan 2018 12:11:47
Aye it's oor fault ambrose was hopeless, who else are we to blame for cifti, mo bangura, amido balde. gimme strength man.

03 Jan 2018 17:24:51
We didn't ruin Efe, his displays ruined his chances. Everybody loved the big man, the truth is he wasn't good enough. I wish him well and hoe he continues to do well at the Hibees.

Anybody know where my pal could watch the City v Watford game in the city centre? It's not in sky so would need to be a pub that gets satellite games. Cheers.

Been wondering when Eboué will feature, realise he's had injuries etc but seem to remember we paid a few quid for him and he looked as if he had something about him a couple of the times I've seen him.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

02 Jan 2018 19:39:45
Agree Davie hope he has an opportunity in the New year. I'm sure he cost about 3 ish maybe 4 million although I could be wrong.

Agree0 Disagree2

02 Jan 2018 21:51:38
He has been here 12 months and even in times when we have been rotating squad he has rarely featured. Think it’s one that hasn’t worked for whatever reason. If he was only a boy and one for the future etc we seem to have paid more than we should. 3 or 4m is a lot for us to pay for a project.

02 Jan 2018 15:55:52
Looks like we're close to siging the boy Morgan scored again today.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

03 Jan 2018 07:49:41
I attended the Morton St Mirren game yesterday and although Morgan scored I didn’t see anything in him to suggest he will excite the fans. I think the championship is his level. Oldkilly.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Jan 2018 15:12:51
A number 10 is the priority for me. We seriously lack any flair when Roberts and Rogic aren’t playing, the latter having had a poor season due to the lack of a rest in the summer cos of the Confed Cup (no rest this summer either due to the WC) .

Like many I don’t like loan deals unless the player is exceptional, but I think Musonda would be incredible up here. 18 month loan deal would be a good move.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

02 Jan 2018 14:24:04
Again another transfer window which is leaving me underwhelmed. First team players allegedly being sold with the incoming players seen to be no better. I hope to be proved wrong. I do hate January.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - The window's not even been open 2 days! Nobody's left and we've brought in a defender and you're underwhelmed?}

02 Jan 2018 15:22:42
Yup 😊.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Jan 2018 15:54:28
From what is being reported by yourself and those 'in the know' I get the feeling that this window won't excite many. The player you allude to is a German player whose standard we could easily have found at home. I don't buy into doing enough to win our league with Europe as a bonus. I want us to demolish our league with Europe as our standard.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - So who should we sign that will give us a chance against your PSGs and Bayern Munichs if you think Europe should be our standard?}

02 Jan 2018 16:32:58
How do you know we could find better here av not seen the German but al reserve opinion till I've seen him. and who would you sign from here that's Celtic class.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Jan 2018 16:32:23
Now that's another discussion. Financial fair play and teams who are in a competition for Champions that are not Champions of their home league. Celtic can compete in the Europa league without breaking the bank but will have to spend money to bring in the quality of player that is required. If winning our home league is all we desire will that not become boring. Why can't we look to better ourselves in Europe.
I'm not naive to expect us to be able to compete with the abominations that are PSG and the like that are able to spend silly money on players seemingly without restriction from the relevant authorities but personally I think we can compete with the tier below but only if we invest properly in the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's nothing to do with why you feel underwhelmed about this transfer window when it isn't even 2 days since it opened? What exactly did you expect to have happened by half 2 on the 2nd of January?}

02 Jan 2018 16:59:20
How do you know we couldn't Mally and I didn't say better I said the same standard. What is Celtic class? To be able to romp to domestic glory every year or to progress in Europe.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 17:13:45
Our Europa league opponents Zenit are linked with another Brazilian for 12 million and you think we can compete in the level below the Bayern’s and PSG we can’t even compete with English championship sides get with the programme buddy we need champs league money to near enough tread water these days?

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 17:13:40
As with all the windows recently and mainly due to the internet and social media we basically know who we are trying to sign before they do. Have you been surprised with anyone in recent times that you haven't had a sniff of beforehand. It in that respect I'm feeling underwhelmed with who we have been connected with. Unless a player comes in from out of the blue I doubt my feelings will change.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I guess some folk just like to moan.}

02 Jan 2018 17:23:46
But you did say we could find similar standard here. who? And have you seen commper play.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 17:28:12
Who's moaning. I'm expressing an opinion. What programme is that bigp? Unless we improve our players significantly the way the Champions league is structured it's possible that getting there will become increasingly more difficult.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You're moaning about the quality of players that we haven't even signed yet. So who do you think we should be signing?}

02 Jan 2018 17:37:14
Hi EDs sky sports claiming again we are close to Morgan signing they've got get at least one repot right eh haha.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's hardly an exclusive story, the dugs in the street know we're signing him.}

02 Jan 2018 17:48:55
Who do I look like the chief scout. I don't like the look of the players we are being connected with. Not a moan but an opinion. To answer Mallys question. No I haven't seen Commper play but then again with only two starts this season nobody has seen him play. He is a player if we got 5 years ago I would be raving about. His best days are behind him and he's not available for Europe this year. Something we could have covered from our academy I expect.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 18:19:14
Reports tonight say Morgan deal may not happen Celtic may be wanting him now rather than loaning him. Have u heard anything ED.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - An hour ago you said the deal was close to being done! Stay away from Tw@tter.}

02 Jan 2018 18:50:45
There's nobody ready yet from the academy at 32 commper can give you 2 good years easily. and when we signed Sinclair he'd hardly played in a year as a say al reserve judgment till av seen him But there's a long way to go in the month let's see what happens.

02 Jan 2018 19:31:12
Yeah your right ED sorry mate.

02 Jan 2018 10:49:14
Morning ED, what comings and goings do you expect to happen this month? If reports are to be believed we could be losing svitchenko and jozo shortly. I know we've brought the German guy in but any ideas or names of further defensive players that could be coming in? Cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Sviatchenko and probably Simunovic will be moved on this month along with Gamboa, it's more likely Boyata will leave in the summer. Compper has already signed and Steven Caulker could join him along with Hendry from Dundee.}

02 Jan 2018 12:45:21
Sounds like good business to me!

Have you heard anything on midfield? Any more news on Armstrong leaving?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I've not heard anything, sorry.}

02 Jan 2018 13:02:41
Last season I was pleased Simunovic hadn't moved on as it looked like he had the makings of a good partnership with Boyata; however, this season between injuries and poor performances, it appears that both of them flattered to deceive and we need better quality replacements.
Ralston will offer cover for Lustig, who has struggled all season, but I would also like to see similar cover for KT - although I have seen McGregor fill in a couple of times and do quite well?
Otherwise, we just have to wait and see what BR and the board decides about offers that may come in and other areas we need to strengthen.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Compper can play at LB as well so he should be able to cover there if KT needs a rest.}

02 Jan 2018 15:03:57
Selling Jozo would be a terrible move. He’s a very good defender, but like Boyata, isn’t the most comfortable on the ball. Rodgers obviously has his way of playing but the main job of a centre back is to defend not to start attacks from the back! I hope I’m wrong but I can see Rodgers leaving well before his contract is up and leaving us with a squad full of ‘footballers’ but very few players willing to get stuck in where it hurts. Selling Jozo would be the perfect example of that, he’s our best defender. I like Rodgers style but he needs to realise we aren’t Man City and that we need to change our ways in some games i. e Hearts and Rangers.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Jan 2018 15:14:19
If these moves go through, I’m personally underwhelmed. We are just about to receive the vvd bonus, qualified for the last two champions league groups and at least two more games against Zenit . We are meant to be selling Erik for 1.5 which more than covered the new German . Then we are selling simonovic for at least 8 and getting potentiallly a defender on a free ( who by his own admittance has problems which could affect his state of mind, never mind the stress that goes with playing for us ) and an untried spl defender who we should sign for no more than 1.5 million. I fail to see how we are spending all the money that comes in? It cries out of cheap options again .

Agree3 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 23:11:55
Whether a fan is personally underwhelmed is not really the major concern of Brendan or the Board .
What is important I think is that everyone have a realistic view of who and what our signing targets are . If we want quality then we will be buying players under 22 and over 32 .
Maybe we should remember that every young player we have signed has left us by the time they are 24, many before that, if players who are at our club cannot be encouraged to stay as they come towards their peak . How can we expect top players who haven't sampled the delights of Celtic, to sign at their best when we cannot keep top players that are here .
Remember Mr Lawwell and Brendan could sign a player for £10m or more this window but that doesn't quaranteed he is any better than Boyota or Briton.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 10:52:18
Seriously hoping that the rumours of a big bid for James McLean are the ramblings of someone still drunk from hogmanay celebrations.

Also, strange That, given tiredness, BR has not given Eboue more games. Big outlay for that boy and it would make sense to get him out on the pitch.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

02 Jan 2018 11:04:58
John, Why the shock at the rumoured signing of James McLean?

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 11:22:21
He's not good enough. That should do it.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 11:30:14
Fair dos if that's your opinion MP.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 11:46:32
I think he's good enough. Martin O Neill picks him in every squad, he plays most games for his country.

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Jan 2018 11:49:50
I do t care who picks him. He's no better than what we have. In fact he's nowhere near Roberts who I hope we buy.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - He's a far better player than Hayes though and plays in a different position than Roberts.}

02 Jan 2018 11:51:47
Decent player Mclean but with the crazy prices going about down there I just don’t feel he’s worth what they would ask! And I think people get a wee bit blinded by the fact the boys a big celtic fan! Money could be spent better in other positions.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - WBA spent about £1.5 million on McClean and are trying to punt him. They're in no position to ask for crazy money for an unwanted player with 18 months left on his deal.}

02 Jan 2018 11:52:19
Think that says it all YMB. 👍.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 12:05:36
50 plus caps for ROI and half a dozen for the North and he's not good enough to put pressure on Sinclair at Celtic after last weeks performance? It's all about opinions I suppose MP.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - MP doesn't want us to sign McClean in case his views and opinions upset the press and the Ibrox Klan.}

02 Jan 2018 12:15:10
Isnt Roberts crocked . Youd be sure of a full shift from Mc Clean . Busy and not shy of a tackle . With Rogic, Roberts our Armstrong playing poorly, Hayes out, Sinclair poor Mc Clean at right price could ignite a bit of needed passion and has experience playing against international players . Worth a punt if money is right .

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 12:11:46
I was there Ed 👍.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The thing is, I think McClean is a good solid player with plenty of EPL experience and at 28 is just hitting his prime. As a Celtic supporter you know he'll go that extra mile on the park and will bust a gut for us. If we could get him for £1 -2 million it would be a good bit of business.}

02 Jan 2018 12:29:16
You're spot on for me TTTS. 👍.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 12:36:30
McClean would be a star for us goals, ability, work rate and heart and if the majority of this bigoted wee country didnae like it then fck em.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 13:10:36
Vinnie it totally astounds me that an international player who can provide cover and put pressure on a player whose went a bit off the boil recently and has had nearing 60 caps for his country who has declared he'd love to play for Celtic and who could be available for around £2.5m wouldn't be a welcome signing. If it's his political opinions that some people find objectionable I'm even more astounded as I've never heard him say or do anything offensive other than express his own entirely understandable personal beliefs and opinions albeit that they are beyond the comprehension of the as ever ignorant English and bigoted Scottish Media. I make the distinction deliberately as one is ignorant and the other is bigoted. Would he make us better? In my humble opinion the answer is yes.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 12:59:51
Agree ED that if we got him for 1-2 Million it would be good business, and like I said he’s a decent player! But I think WBA could get more for him from some English team willing to spend stupid money! Do u think Rodgers would fancy him anyway ED?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't know if Rodgers would be interested but he ticks a lot of the boxes e.g. he's available, he plays in a position we need strengthened in, Rodgers knows him and McClean wants to play for us.
Also it's difficult to sell a player to a club when the player doesn't want the move - IF Celtic are officially interested the player could simply refuse any other move so forcing WBA to sell him to us. I don't think WBA would stand in his way, as long as they get a fee and probably more importantly free up wages to bring in new faces themselves.}

02 Jan 2018 13:28:42
Spot on JFP he’s a worker and he wouldn’t let us down we would get everything outa him in every game he plays and he’s the perfect age. Big deal he didn’t toe the party line and do what everyone else expected makes me like him even more shows he’s a man that can stand up and make his own decisions. Get him signed.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 13:35:31
Agreed CB 👍.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 15:38:07
My mate is a West Brom fan and says he is arguabley there best player, but this is faulted by the fact his mistakes and decision making is bad. He said if he played for West Brom like he did for country he wouldn’t be first on the team sheet. Hard worker and makes a lot of effort on and off the pitch. As ED says he ticks all the boxes and must be signed now if ever. He would be an outstanding player for us and would show his real ability playing in the hoops. A fast strong winger, something we’ve not had since big Samaras.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 23:19:00
James MC Clean is a model professional footballer . He is for ever seeking out and helping those in need . He is a great team player with a hunger to work hard for his team . James would be a team leader who would spring even more into extra activity when his fellow players would feel jaded or tired for what ever reason .

James would walk on glass from WBA to Glasgow to play for Celtic.

How many players has BR signed? Lots of posts about taking Deila's team so far but think he has bought too many "squad" players. Benyou, Kouassi, Gamboa, DeVries, Hayes, ? Need to get some in that will be 1st picks for starting 11?

Kouassi is a strange one i was told it was his lack/ grasp of the English language that gave BR cause for concern . Benyou has a chance? the others for me are'nt going to take us forward.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 11:32:55
I think we as a club get too obsessed with buying players for the future that we forget about the present. I would like to see us occasionally buy a player who is better than we already have regardless of how old they are.
Yesterday I read on here that we are interested in Dundee's centre half. I must admit I know very little about him, but for all we complain about our defence, they have conceded a lot less goals than Dundee have, is it really likely that Dundee's Centre half is going to help us to stop conceding 7 goals to PSG?
We have made a lot of money over the last couple of seasons, I don't see why that shouldn't let us add a bit of quality to our team as well as building for the future.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2018 12:46:02
Problem is Gerry its extremely hard to buy better than we have cos of the price, I reckon it would take 6-10m to buy a better player and that's being generous and then the wages.
I said before Spurs who are a great team to watch after last season would find it hard to be better simply cos their 1st 11 is so strong that it would cost 60-100m to get a better player, they simply don't pay that kind of money.
Look at Everton for eg, got 90m for Lukaku and didn't replace or cudnt, they are now a struggling team.
Its just went bonkers mate as only 3-4 yrs ago we could a spent 3-4m and get a CL player now it costs 30-40m min.
