Happy new year Ed007 and to all fellow posters. Holmbert frid, tony watt up front could be a future combo, a midfield five of izzy, Ledley, biton lustig, and the new creative playmaker or ( kc ), Charlie vid efe back three for domestic games bringing on two youngsters when possible, if watt goes back on loan (atajic ) hopefully the turkey trip is worthwhile no point not trying some kids what's everyone else's thoughts on the trip :))

I see black was booked tonight wonder if it will be mentioned in ref report to sfa he should have missed the Dunfermline game and tonites match. I still wonder why Peter Lawell joined this sfa crew as I stated earlier in seasonthis would backfire

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I posted a few days ago that Lawell has to remember it's Celtic first, second and third in his list of priorities. I also find it hard to forgive we voted Ogilvie in again instead of kicking his biased ass to the local job centre.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2014 23:32:54
Is it not possible Lawell thinks he could do more for celtic within the ranks

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2014 23:57:16
@ (2) monkey boy I think there's more chance Lawwell will do better for lawwell within the ranks, the GB issues, not backing the fans, the living wage and transfer policy something is not quite right, hope I'm way off the mark (IMO)

Agree0 Disagree0

As I stated in my post we must have the only guy in the sfa who is not looking after his own club whereas Ogilvie is there solely to look after sevco and not doubt pass on info and give them a heads up.

regan is spinless and no doubt kept in the dark and unaware and I have the feeling pl is the same

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2014 00:52:51
@(4) sorry I can't address you buy name, but I think PL is playing a blinder for PL, the next two transfer windows for me are key, will it bother PL that much if we don't qualify for group the stages next year I'm not so sure, his mind will be on rangers coming back imo, interesting times ahead, for me he is playing a waiting game ie, sfa, co and rangers rather leading from the front he's waiting for them to implode, maybe he's thinking of the backlash to the Celtic fans, if he pushes for answers I don't know, whatever the outcome cfc will survive, just my thoughts, g/nite timland :))

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2014 09:00:40
Ths will be interesting to see if it's just PL that is more interested on rangers when they finally get up, or will the stay away fans be the same

Agree0 Disagree0

Lawell is not the Messiah - he's a very naughty Bhoy.

Did PL not get offered a big job at arsenal or Liverpool a couple years back, surely if he was only in it for himself he would have took that job. As far as a kno celtic are in the best position in years so am sorry a can't say he is doing a bad job for us. Am not saying a agree with everything he does but it's hard to keep every1 happy and run a successful club

Hi All

Happy New Year. Newly registered but been a reader for a while.

Just wondering what everyone's ideal signings would be in January.

For me the below are achievable an could really give the current team an edge.

Andrew Robertson (LB) - Dundee Utd
Abdi ibrahim (Mid) - Man City
Ryan Gauld (Mid) - Dundee Utd
Alfie finnbogason (CF) - Heerenveen

I know Ryan Gauld is only 18 but seen him a few times and not seen him have a bad game. Think he is a class act. Incredible vision and could be just the playmaker were looking for.

Personally I don't think lennon gives any players an opportunity to prove he has been adamant with puki giving this boy games give the boy blade a chance and this new boy Fridjonsson is he going to get a chance Lenny has his favourites

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Blade playing against the daywalkers? I would buy a ticket for that

Who would you pick for up front?

Stokes
Watt
Sami
Blade
Bangura
Pukki

If I have missed anyone out then please add, but on paper we don't have one decent striker.

Makes you appreciate the Larrson/Sutton/Hartson era.

Lenny

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Finnbogasson lol

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2014 21:43:06
For me its Balde and pukki. surely they are worth a try together. Can anyone explain why balde only gets 10 minutes at most at end of a game? the other week he was for being brought on with 30 seconds to go but thankfully diidint get on cause that would just give people more of a reason to moan about him and say he's not up to it cause those people only look at the stats/appearance to goals and what not

if we continue to play 1 up front we will never make the champions league or even europa for that matter. the new icelandic boy should get some game time I hope also and drop the usual suspects. surely it is time to try something different instead sticking with the same old underperformers

also what does atajic have to do to get some game time? gets brought on against motherwell and shows that he wants to attack, scores a really good goal and some good movement

we are to one dimensional getting. izzy is our best chance creator but saying this we usually only have 1/2 in box so therfore mix it up a bit lenny. would love to see what bangura can do for us now. he dominated our defence in the qualifiers and hopefully can do a job

Agree0 Disagree0

Atajic & Watt or Atajic & Balde!

Agree0 Disagree0

Until we sort out the midfield and the guys who are supposed to support our strikers it won't matter who plays up front. The lack of chances is alarming!

Neil Lennon meeting with Peter Houston tomorrow to finalise main transfer targets. Neil Lennon has acknowledged that it is unlikely that business will be done before the first-team head to Turkey. Peter Lawwell, John Park and Peter Houston will be tasked with bringing Lennon's targets in over the next two weeks.

Alright troops first time poster. Does anyone think the board will be daft enough to put the st up the £100 they took off this season. With falling attendances the team playing poor and a stadium with no atmosphere along with poor signings. I think it would be madness to put it up next season. They should wait until sevco come back up first.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Welcome to the site mate.}

Cant see any increase in prices for next season unless there is major investment.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2014 21:57:38
i look forward to the away games a bit more now to be honest. get to as many as I can home and away but the atmosphere at away games is far superior to home ones. if the board put the prices up there will be nobody coming through the gates at cp

could we not reduce ticket sales or give tickets to schools? surely this would increase atmosphere and possibly push the team on a bit. we look like every game is a friendly

Cheers ed

Op the attendance for the thistle game was over 52.000 according to the club. I wasn't at the game can anyone who was tell me if this was true if so its an outstanding attendance for this time of year, if not why would the club lie abot this.

There were 52 000 tickets sold for game including season tickets, if the stay away fans dnt go it's not the clubs fault.

03 Jan 2014 10:48:46
Thought the attendance was around 28,000 for the partick game, a work colleague who is a thistle fan had to buy a tct for the celtic end as partick only got 800 tcts. Surely the club must offer the away teams who sell there allocation more tickets?

A newspaper can reveal Scotland's champions will keep an eye on any developments which could see big-money attempts to lure the likes of Ryan Gauld, Stuart Armstrong, John Souttar, Gary Mackay-Steven and Andy Robertson down south.

---------------------------------------------------

Is this maybe part of the reason why Peter Houston has been brought in as a scout? Has he possibly worked with these youngsters?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What pi55es me off about this is the wages being paid to Houston. Do we really need him? His wage could have paid our own people proper wages, a living wage!

Right! Probably going to get a wee bit stick here but I think its time for lennon to move on. These last few weeks have been the most boring to watch in over 15 years of watching my beloved hoops.
Yes we are flying in the league but it seems to me lennon is scared to loose a game before rangers do.
Now is the perfect time to give the youngsters a game but lennon seems obssed woth sticking to the old gaurd and winning games 1-0. We know what these guys can do so let's give the youngsters more of a chance.
I would rather we lost in style than continue to play the way we do.
Over the years it has never been boring to follow celtic but this season no wonder tje attendances have dropped to the lowest I have seen in nearly 2 decades.
And no I don't think its boring because rangers went bust and got chucked out the league.
Lennon is a celtic great but I just think ots time for him to move on

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No Hew not a bit of stick but maybe a memory lesson, Tony Mowbrey, John Barne's, Joseph Venglos, Lou Macari, Liam Brady, all were boring andf won what? Think you should be thankful for small mercie's mate.Tell me Hew who do you think would do a better job than Lenny just now, remember someone who 1. we could afford 2.would want to come to the league we play in, be careful what you wish for mate

A don't see how we could get rid of a manager that is continually winning, made the champ league twice with one being pretty successful . Winning 2 out of 3 domestic trophies. A understand we're not playing very well but were still winning . What would u expect of next manager?
If the oldco wer still here and we wer winning ever game would anybody bother how we are playing.
Lennon does need to get it together because playing the way we are we're gony lose some soon. That's when a would question him being there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ach I don't really know tbh but I just think things have went stale with the team. Would love lenny to turn things around but I think he is set in his ways.
Would like to see jackie macnamara step up to the post.
Dont get me wrong the succes has been great but this season was a chance to give the yougsters a run and without that old team from the west end and any competition a chance to open things up and try to play some attractive football. Just seems lenny is scared to loose before THE rangers do

Agree0 Disagree0

Without European football and a major rival I feel the team and manager have become very flat and predictable, as they know it does not need maximum effort to win the vast majority of domestic games because of the gulf in class and depth of strength at Celtic. We are doing just enough to win and selling supporters short as attendances will reflect.
As a long term supporter I feel this is probably the most average group of players we have had for decades and the opposition is extremely weak.
NL was found out big time in the CL when the Board failed to back him fully after selling his best players; so maybe he will call it a day anyway?
The majority of fans expect Celtic to entertain and play a certain way and at present it's boring, boring Celtic!

JJ

Agree0 Disagree0

What the hell does the rangers have to do with us and or Lennon? Why you think that way, he has more to worry about then them. Lennon himself said things are flat and need a fresh up so you at just using his words yet you say he should go. Don't get your kind of fans, we're you saying that when we scored 5, 7, 6 not too long ago? And he has used youth with fisher, Biton, atajak(?) Henderson. You can't have youths playing all the time while paying top players money to sit on the bench cause then you would be saying the opposit as you are now. I'm sure he will use youth a lot more in the season but when you are undefeated you want to try and keep it going also secure the tittle before switching to all youths, how many will it take for you to be happy? Lennon is the man going forward for he has turned our club around from a truley ugly place, and how can you say this is the worst in 2 decades cause you clearly didn't pay attention to mowbery time when we were just shiat. Lennon has brought us the most from the game in the last few years then many years before. The fans like you need to think about what he has done for us, won, players and the famous nights instead of just lookin at the last 3-4 games. What will you say if we score 8 tmr? Will Lennon be safe then, or only until it's 1 goal games. C-Bhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

@6 That is precisley what I am talking about, would you rather win nothing and play good football, or play badly and be winner's, as I have posted before, under Tommy Burns, we won the scottish cup, that was the best football played at Celtic park since Jock Stein and we had supporter's moaning because of failure, I am not happy with some of our performance's this season but we are winning

@8 Graham80 I started watching Celtic in 1957, so I have been through a few bad spells and good one's but during their dominance year's broke my heart, I thought the only time it was going to be broken(dominance year's) was during Tommy's tenure sadly it was not to be, beaten once but too many drawn game's, that's why at this time I am not too worried about the performance's, we could be winning nothing and playing badly

Good! It's been about 2 years I've been using this site now and from experience it's difficult to interact with anonymous posters but they don't seem to have to the same issue, most usually resort to name calling etc (even though they know none of us personally)

We might not all agree but football can mostly come down to opinion.

I may have been a tad harsh with the Forrest post but it took me until this morning to thaw out from yesterday and do we rate Forrest? Valid question but after the last few games I'd gladly see the team bus, with the full squad, lost in the twilight zone!

Just watched the highlights from yesterday's game. Thought Taylor-Sinclair looked good, good marauding runs down the flank with final balls that a striker can actually attack.

He will be a welcome addition in to a side really needing a pick me up.

Again Celtic failed to lift the tempo and if not for some good defending could have easily lost this one.

We are going backwards now at an alarming rate and if Lennon and the rest of the coaching staff cannot see this or cannot combat it, then why not?

The only positive another 3 points and clean sheet.

Used to really miss not getting to the football due to being stuck in Australia, but in recent weeks think I would prefer to watch from afar than spending hard earned cash to be feeling let down each week.

Agree0 Disagree0

@ monkeybhoy. I think you are being very kind to him. I can't remember him having a good game in the last.well let's just say a long time.

Briggs

Agree0 Disagree0

Aw Briggs you like him really!

After yesterdays performance the question of the day is do we 'rate' James Forrest, really?

Nobody is more disappointed in Forrest's lack of progression than me.

To put things in perspective, who did more in this season's Champions League campaign - him or our Captain? (before there's any arguments - I'm a Scott Brown fan)

Our experienced Captain cost up in the CL and then when he did return from suspension, captained the side to a 6-1 defeat.

Yesterday to say Brown was ineffective is an understatement, he was outclassed, outpowered and outplayed by Partick Thistle.

Yeah, let's wonder (again) if James Forrest is over-rated? Compared to who?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think NL relied far too much on him in his first full season and since then he has been both injury prone and lacking confidence. He has not fulfilled the early potential - that's for sure and may become another Jamie Smith?

1 good half a said lol think both wer as subs at half time. Hibs when he scored good goal and some1 at CP recently. Maybe has more use as a (super lol) sub

Agree0 Disagree0

@MrsE: I do agree Broony was quiet yesterday but the midfield was light. I would not lay the blame for this at Forrest's door but he did not help matters. Best displays this season? Biton anchoring the middle, so much so Lenny praised him individually.hardly been seen since.

Lenny has to have a look at what is happening here and stop playing his favourites. It seems to me that he went overboard on Forrest, 'one of the best to EVER play for Celtic' really Lenny? and is determined to push him.Even though he has been poor for a long, long time.

Agree0 Disagree0

James Florist isn't overrated at all. Nobody I know rates him and that includes a scout from an English team and a few ex-Celtic players. He is no better than McGeady or Maloney were and his attitude and ego are atrocious yet Lennon persists to pick him, much to the dismay of the majority of fans.

If he is found guilty of the charges against him his contract should be ripped up and be sacked for dragging the good name of the club through the mud, this isn't a player getting into a brawl after a drinking session or usual the usual youthful boisterousness you would expect from players after all. If we could get £2-3 million for him, take it and let him fade into obscurity and cause problems for someone else.
Also if Florist is the level of player we are producing then no wonder Lennon doesn't pick more of them, imagine how poor we would be if we had 3 or 4 players in the team all at the same mediocre level of Florist, what's your thoughts on him ED007?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't rate him at all, he has flattered to deceive for far too long and if anything he is going backwards in his development. I agree that if we could get £2/3m for him I'd snap their hand off! I've edited your post a bit as I doubt those people would appreciate their name mentioned on here in that context.}

Well said Mrs E, Forrest had the bottle for the penalty against Ajax and had great finishes against both Hibs and Hearts, but is a light weight at times. The Team itself is not playing brilliant at the moment and we need some new quality blood which I believe we will get this month. Brown cost us big time in the CL this season and that should be remembered. We need to get back to supporting our Team and giving the Team the encouragement they need. Let the signings commence. Hail Hail
TamTimTic

Agree0 Disagree0

Imposter who runs about like ET with his arms constantly in the air

Agree0 Disagree0

TTT, we are in such a place now that Brown seems to be irreplaceable which shouldn't be the case. He has cost us big time in the CL this season and it should not be forgotten so easily. Giving the referee a decision like that to make at 0-0 in a CL match was 'atrocious' to quote a Che word.

GJ, after yesterday's game an anonymous poster wonders about James Forrest? If I was one for over-reactions (ahem), I'd be asking if the whole friggin team is rated or over rated? Patrick Thistle at home and MOTM is our goalkeeper!

Che that's nice you know an Agent that doesn't rate our Academy players - sums it all up really.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed can you set a poll up about Forrest?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Sure. I'll get that done.}

@Mrs E. I never mentioned any agents and only mentioned one player who is a first-team player, where did I say anyone didn't rate our academy's players? Is your head still a tad fuzzy from New Year celebrations?

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2014 16:47:25
Going backwards as a player seems to me the coaching staff have to take some blame when he first burst on to scene was playing as out and out winger and attacking men but this has stopped to me he's been asked to play out of position and do tasks he's not up to wish he could rediscover his early promise but for the moment the only time he is having any effect is coming on late as a sub every now and again

Agree0 Disagree0

Agent/Scout - forgive my error.

With the exception for Feruz, Forrest would appear to be the only 'prospect' to come out of Lennoxtown recently. That was my point regarding our Academy. If he's not rated - what does that say about the rest?

Agree0 Disagree0

Florist is by no means the only prospect to come out of Lennoxtown, he is however the only one who is being given a chance and at 22 I would hardlly consider Florist a prospect now, he is a very average first team player. If Lennon played more of our youth players everyone would see the quality that is being held back. I have watched a lot of our youth matches and players like Atajic, McGeouch, the Twardzik twins, John Herron among others should be getting a chance, and why young McGregor was sent out on loan is anyone's guess. Paul George would bring more to the team than Florist, who is by far one of the least technically intelligent players at the club, some of his decision making during games is astonishing at best and laughable at worst. The odd goal here and there Along with Samaras they are the 2 biggest imposters at Celtic, add to that his behaviour off the pitch is deplorable. If it is true and he is found guilty I don't see how the club can or should employ him. It will just show another slip in standards at our great club. If a Sevco player had done what Florist is accused of there would be an outcry on here about it, but because it is a Celtic player it doesn't get mentioned. To even compare him to Brown just shows how blinkered you are. A fly by night average winger against our club captain?

We've got 99 problems but Brown ain't one!

@10 Well che surprise surprise, I am going to disagree with you again, Forrest is not in the same league as McGeady and I think Maloney is a better player than Forrest will ever be, just my opinion, yours Albert
Tambhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm blinkered, by what? Brown isn't beyond criticism here!

I've mentioned Brown with Neil Lennon's European campaigns, let's have a look and give me your take them.

Season 2011/12

Brown plays in both games v Sion and 0-0 then get beat 3-1

He's out for the rest of the games against Ath Madrid, Udinese and Rennes

Season 2012/13

Brown is out and we progress to the last 16. He returns to face Juventus

Season 2013/14

At 0-0 kicks out at a known 'cheat' on International TV and gives the referee a decision to make. He's sent off, leaving his team mates with 10 men against a team who already have the monster size possession and jam packed with world class players. He did not kick out at a player who had been winding him up, just one who had out-run him and forced him into the foul.

The only game we win, he isn't playing.

Comes back and captains the side to one of our worst European defeats ever - end of a campaign that Forrest scores 2 important goals.

Neil Lennon has his favourites, here's a question that Managers do with their favourites - would he take any of them, if he left for pastures new, with him do you think Che?

Agree0 Disagree0

I was wondering where you were Albert, did you doze off watching the news again? I hope you and your family had a lovely Christmas and New Year Tam, we might have our differences on here but we're all Celtic supporters when it comes down to it. Good luck for the coming year.

Agree0 Disagree0

C'mon Mrs E you're just being silly now.If you are saying Celtic are a better team with Florist in it instead of Brown, that is being blinkered. Brown is one of our most successful club captains in recent years ffs and he's hardly the first player to be sent off or miss games through bans. Florist didn't even make the bench in the Nou Camp he's that good! He will no doubt end up ploughing a living in the obscurity of the English Championship or some bottom feeding team in the Premiership while Brown will still be at our club lifting trophies and leading the team into Europe. Some players split the support and we can all argue the toss about them, Florist isn't one of them. The majority of Celtic fans can see him for what he is, a very average honking player in a mediocre team. He brings nothing to the game that players 3 or 4 years younger than him couldn't. As I have previously said, we have 99 problems but Brown ain't one.

Che, I don't always see games but am I right you never seen yesterdays?

If these performances continue and the attitude of the players continues (including the Captains) Scott Brown won't be leading that team anywhere European.

Of course I seen the game, I was there, although what that has to do with anything I don't know. I can assure you, Celtic will be playing in Europe next season, winning the league guarantees Champions League entry at the qualifying rounds, so Brown will be leading them to at least one European destination. How many bad games has Brown had compared to Florist over the years, listen to the fan's reactions when he duffs another cross, runs straight into his man or runs the ball out of play? That's because you can't lie to the Celtic support, they know exactly how rank he is. I can't believe I am having this conversation with a Celtic fan who is comparing our club captain to James Florist so I think I will draw this conversation to it's conclusion, we obviously have very different ideas to what makes a good footballer, let alone one good enough to wear the Hoops.

@23 there must be a reason EPL or even champioship sides have never shown a real interest in broonie.Surely great captains like him would have been sold for mega bucks by now.Big J

{Ed007's Note - Brown has turned down moves to England for various personal reasons in the past, even when he was leaving Hibs. He has said the move south doesn't appeal to him.}

@22 Cheer's che same to you mate and I am going to surprise you and agree with everything you say about Broony and Forrest, no brainer for me, Broony first on team sheet every game.
