So ED reports showing this boy fae Australia on a flight to these shores have u heard anything more on him coming to Celtic? And is it true that we can sign two wildcards 24 hours before next CL qualifying match?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - That's REALLY creepy stuff, even for you Rich, you know that's how 9-11 started.... You need to take a step back from all this kid and get a bird! We can add one wildcard signing.}

03 Aug 2018 13:07:59
Read a report saying we have included an option to buy after the loan period, good piece of business by Lawwell.
I also like the City business model, buy players really cheap from there feeder clubs, send them out on loan and them sell them for a really good profit and give a chunk back to the feeder club.

So what is the deal with this boy? Do we realistically have a chance of getting him or is it just bull? It’s went really quiet on the situation.

Where was this GMS when he was at park head. He's been great tonight.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Totally, Kev. He was anonymous too often for us, but tonite he's the boss. Well impressed with Aberdeen tho: serious respect.

He's still a skinny wee guy, but seems stronger and fitter. and he can seemingly take corners!

Burnley look terrified of him cava.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 23:16:18
He's one of those players with all the talent in the world but the weight of wearing the hoops was to much for him.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 23:30:31
The 'jersey' didn't shrink to fit him. Talented and tricky, but too inconsistent, unreliable and not enough self-belief or desire.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 11:14:41
Nailed it Once a Bhoy. Not once did I ever see him have the confidence to try one of his brilliant tricks in a Celtic jersey. The reason we bought him is that he was a gallus wee winger who could get the fans off their seats but he tried to play it too safe and failed badly.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 11:17:05
I said when he signed he disappeared to much in big games to be a Celtic player but last night he stood up demanded the ball and went right at them. Some of his wee flicks and touches were brilliant.
Best I've ever seen him play in a big game.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Aug 2018 14:40:14
great wee player, i just thought the pressure of playing for us got to him, he always tried his best, he was also was unlucky with injuries, he was also a nice guy, my mates boy said he was good with all the young bhoys and would always take time to give them tips and help them with their games, i wish him all the best in his career.

Am I the only one that wants Rangers to qualify for group stages in europa league?
I also want hibs and Aberdeen to qualify too. Why? If they do qualify it's more coefficient points for Scotland so less qualifiers for us in champions league. More importantly though they will all have to play Thursday and sundays and with their smaller squads they won't cope therefore making life easier for us in the league and hopefully being in champs league we will have a better chance.

@magicPole. Jesus mate give it a rest. Rodgers is fine with our system of transfers, we are through to the next round after a difficult fixture was handled well, and there is plenty time till the window shuts. And please, stop bringing sevco into things, all you do is justify the same club nonsense.

We all want the best for Celtic but realise where we play. We pay huge wages in a Scottish league with little income. To continue with your verbals towards Lawwell is making you sound a bit iffy given the cost of running our club.

I can have my opinion about anything to do with my team. I don’t expect everyone to agree, but what I won’t take is you questioning by me a a Celtic fan.

I would go on but Ed wouldn’t post it.

And Sevco are the new club. That’s why I use that name,

I find it funny that fans are getting criticised for wanting to get new players in when it is the manager that added fuel to the fire with his comments.
He is saying the squad is weaker, he is saying he thought more would have been brought in.

Yes it great we won the treble but some of the games and some of our play was rubbish to say the least.
This is the first time he has publicly said things that are out of line with what he has previously been saying about PETER and DERMOT.
We will judge the window when it shuts let's hope we still in the big cup when it does shut.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 14:22:18
People saying Celtic are weaker this year than last - one oint to argue, we are short one player in Armstrong and it doesn't take a genius to see McGinn will fill that role.

The point in having a young team is they improve. Ajer, Tierney, McGregor, Edouard, Ntcham are just a few but I would say every one of these players is rated higher now than this time last year so that would make me ask with that in mind do you really feel we are weaker than last year?

add in morgan, Christie, bain and another month in the transfer window I think people need to chill.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

02 Aug 2018 15:19:47
Rogers said it too.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 15:37:20
We are a genuine CL group stage contender. We are not Rangers who can only dream. When you are at the top you nerd to push on. So far we have not done that. Every teams players will be better. BR is not the only one that can coach. He has said it himself, we are weaker. He wants more quality by end of August. So do the fans. Christie is not CL quality. Morgan, don't know yet. Bain is back up. We are talking about players who can come straight into the first team, not projects. We don't want Cifti, Hayes, Christie Comper etc, we need genuine quality like N'tcham and Edouard. They cost money but we are better than SPL and we need to man up for CL or we will start to drop down a level. Also McGinn is not a direct replacement for Armstrong. He is more a N'tcham/ brown player. that's why we have not gone for him. He will sign January so he is next year.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 15:49:55
we are one man short which I acknowledged, and would love better signings in. No one is arguing that fsct but I think our best option is waiting for the English window to close.

Waghorn just went (or is going) for 8 mill down there - prices are inflated heavily. You're saying spend for the reward but what happens if celtic go ahead and spend that money on someone of that level - they wouldn't necessarily be ready to walk in the team and if we did lose then next window your selling players to make up for it.

Enjoy the success we are having plenty of it.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 16:03:35
Johnny who you want is irrelevant.
It's who the manager wants that matters.
He wanted Hayes Compper Morgan Bain.

From his interview today.

There is some work going on behind the scenes but there is nothing to give any clarity on anyone coming in

I think every manager and coach would always look and think they would need more.

"I want it for the supporters, I want it for the squad, but I want quality.

"We could have had lots of players in but we only quality

"This is a group that has continued to grow and develop, so to bring in players that are going to be better than that.

"It takes time to source that.

"I would be disappointed if we weren't stronger come the end of August but I'm happy with where we are at because essentially I need to try and work with the players we have here in what is a treacherous period of the season.

"We aim to add quality to our squad, that's key for us, but right now, my focus is all on the players that are here. "

Kev83. What else can the manager say. He can hardly say he wants worse players to come in.
I wouldn't mind betting though that he's a bit disappointed that halfway through this treacherous part of the season we haven't strengthened the squad as he was probably expecting.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 17:57:05
Gerry he doesn't have to say anything but the truth of the matter is he's got that much power at parkhead right now he's bullet proof. He could fire a broadside at the board if he wanted.
Fans on hear saying he ain't telling the truth are out of order.

Some of our fans have spent almost all their lives criticising the board the manager, the players and individual players in particular .
Just like the Scottish media can't help itself fault finding at Celtic, so can some of our fans despite how well the club is doing.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 22:37:19
Why is everyone getting their knickers in a twist over our transfer activity? Folks want to calm down and realise that we will not sign players for the sake of signing players!

The quality of player we want to attract to a one horse league that would get into our starting 11 will not come unless we can offer Champions League football. If we can offer Champions League football the better quality of player we can attract.

We currently have a squad that will easily wipe the floor domestically again. I can't understand why people are saying we haven't replaced Roberts or Armstrong when both couldn't get into the starting 11 last season.

Once the qualifiers are settled then we will see where we stand in terms of the type of player we can go after. HH.

02 Aug 2018 14:15:18
Last nights game was disappointing but a relief to come away without losing a goal.
Hendry was fantastic in defence considering that was just his fourth CL game and the first against good opposition.
Ntcham was a concern never as good away from home as he is at Parkhead' Niether was Armstrong if memory sevres me right I would have like to see Kouassi come on to see what he could do along side Brown, who carried the midfield. Without the creative passing of Ntcham: Macgregor and Edourd faided to make an impact not thier fault they need the service. Teirneys injury and Sinclair lack of positive thought meant nothing came down the left though with Hayes, Morgan and Arzani should give options there but I would still like to see cover for LB. If we make the CL group stages love to se us bid for Gerbhart from Wolfsburg Can play LCB, LB and LM and better FB than Teirney seriously good player and if we don't get McGinn a big offer for Tom Arnold another class act.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

02 Aug 2018 22:29:45
When was Tierney injured was it after 85 mins, that didn't affect his role last night .
A shakey first half followed by an excellent second half .
I thought the blondy haired left back was probably their best player, I was disappointed that Gamboa and Forrest didn't push up more into their half and take him back to his left corner . He was given the freedom of the park playing in open space between Gamboa and Forrest.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 11:12:28
Now I have not been a fan of gamboa but these last 2 games he has really stepped up.
I still don't think he will be a long term replacement for lustig though.
1 of the reasons is that this time next season he will miss the qualifiers again to go play with his country
I just don't see him getting a new contract.

{Ed007's Note - It's also their first game with a new manager and they've lost their 2 main CBs and star striker Sergio Araujo this summer.
It won't be easy, especially over there, but we shouldn't have any real problems getting past AEK if we play well.}

02 Aug 2018 10:51:37
One thing is a cert, if we play like we did last night any good team will beat us. I’m reading Ajer will be out next Wednesday so Jozo back. Rosenborg had nothing in the final third. I thought our first half performance was absolutely woeful, the second was better but we still didn’t create any real chances after Eddy nearly scored.

I am no fan of the board with their wait and see attitude. Rogers isn’t happy either. So all of you who think he knows best should be too.

The let’s make it harder attitude is not good enough when a minimum of £60m is up for grabs and for me and Brendan that isn’t good governance.

Every year the cheque signing pen goes missing. Every single year. The problem now is even if we find it, the player/ s won’t be match fit and that’s just bad planning.

If we do feck it up, do we go straight into the EL group stage or do we have a qualifier for that too?

Agree2 Disagree2

02 Aug 2018 10:59:15
Rodgers must be telling lies when he said the board have done great for him and that he was happy then eh magicpole?

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 11:04:15
Magic - last nights game was poor to watch by all means but the aim of the game was done.
I thought the majority of the players refused to commit going forward for the clean sheet which was worth it.
IF we buy a player right now do they gel straight into the first team? I think the players who are there deserve a shot at the qualifiers.

Will boyata not be back as well for the next game?

If we lose we go into the next round of the EL qualifiers.

He’s being diplomatic. If you think he is happy I have five magic beans going cheap you could be interested in.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 11:06:41
Fully agree Magic. We are behind last year. Armstrong away, doing really well at Southampton. Sinclair a shadow of start of last season he needs to come good fast. Dembele may not make next week. We should have Boyata and jozo back so that will help but we need 2 quality players in. Bench last night was week. We have had £7mill from VVD. £7mill from Armstrong. Spent £8 or £9 on eddy so we are ahead by £5 or £6mill. We should be investing and be stronger not weaker. Anyone who thinks we are stronger is wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 11:15:19
Being diplomatic? He's saying the opposite of what you are coming out with. So either he's lying or your wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 12:00:03
Magicpole I don't think I have ever seen you say anything positive about our club.
Doesn't matter what we win or how we do your on greeting about the board and saying crap like that while the manager says things like this

The club have had a very clear structure of how they work. These last couple of years have been great years for us. I have got no reason not to ever believe that club don’t want that either. They have supported me extremely well since I have been up here. There is not a huge reforming that needs doing.

I can understand the supporters’ perspective.

The modern game now is very much about signings and lots of signings. But I think our supporters will probably be thankful that we have continuity. We’ve got a core that really connect to how we work but we have to bring in quality.

Now that’s then what goes over to the club, and then the club will look to then do their best, which I believe they are, their very best, to get the level of quality that we need in and that’s going to help us improve because that’s what’s important. "

Yup he's ready to blow up and tell the board to shove the job up their a**e.

Agree0 Disagree1

02 Aug 2018 12:25:34
Kev I do t want loads of signings. I want maybe two good ones that will lift us. We have money, we need to strengthen. We lost the most goals in the CL last year. I am not expecting £10m signings. You must have missed my post saying at times this year we are playing better than the Invincible season.

You obviously just focus on my posts that avoid happy clapping. There’s enough of that on here. We need to strengthen and make the CL. That will bury Sevco. In order to do that we need to be prepared. Brendan said we are weaker. Do you think for a minute he wants that with four games to get there?

Do you think £60m should be risked? We are playing a makeshift defence in the four hardest and potentially rewarding games of the season. We step up to that then we smash the treble easily. I want to be in the CL and avoid humiliating defeats. That should be all our goal and indeed Lawell said he wanted us to be a recognised CL team. Not cannon fodder. We will probably struggle to beat the top two in any group. But getting 3rd and not being routed at home needs additional talent.

Our defence has been our Achilles for years. Boyata has come on a ton but we still need class in there.

I resent greatly the view that because I am pragmatic that I don’t appreciate how far we have come. I do. I just want us to address the areas dugs in the street know needs helping

Last night our defence got away with it because they were bolloks in the last third. We knew we had four games to get through and remember Rogers said we are weaker. Are you saying he is negative or truthful?

Faith is no pathway to truth. CL stats tell the truth and we should recognise that not improving how we defend will mean more of the same.

What’s that definition of insanity again?

Well, here we are in the same position we always are. If anybody thinks that good prep then I pity the fool.

It’s not negative to point out that not strengthening is good planning. We could win this league with our second team. It’s the CL that ensures we bury Sevco and hopefully we might win a home game in the CL too.

It would be typical celtic fashion to fail to qualify, lose out on the 40m euros. That 40 million could see another 3 French Eddys in the team and people believe we don’t need to invest to insure that cash? I think we do. There’s a lot at stake in these qualifiers. If we don’t get there we will be set back quite a distance in the clubs progression.

Agree0 Disagree0

Naw kev that ain't true either. I have my own mind. I ain't some wee boy that gets led around by the nose.
Magic our defence didn't get away with it. They played well.
Saying you think 3rd place ain't beyond us. Remind me what we did last year?

Since Rogers has came in we have improved in Europe.
1st year we qualified
2nd we qualified out of the group in 3rd place.
Progress is being made.
Even this year we have a better result against Rosenberg than last.

Do I agree we are weaker? Yes and no.

Our squad yes
Our first team no.

Yes we need signings but nothing major.
We ain't getting a better CB than boyata for a couple million. It will need big money
Finding guys like van djyk only happen once in a blue moon.

Magic answer me this would you say our defence was better in Europe with van djyk in it?

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 13:48:24
Ken you are forgetting the £13.5m we got from Tv money last year and £10m CL gate money. That nearly £65m even if we get handed our arses in every game. Win a game and that’s £2.6m every 3 points. So one win and it’s nearly £70m.

That’s what’s at stake. But Petrr knows best and obviously thrives on pitching in young untested guys to secure it.

And I’m the mental one.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 13:53:36
Just been reading the differences of opinions between magicpole and others regarding signings or lack of. In magicpoles post at 10:14 today he couldn’t wait to play that shower of rubbish and smash them into a jam, in his post today at 12:25 we need to strengthen that will bury sevco, no need to say anything else. oldkilly.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 13:59:41
We beat Anderlect because they were in turmoil, they came here and played us off the park. Or don’t you remember that?

Not one win at home in each of thevtwonyears, skeloed senseless away.

Your lack of ambition should secure you a seat on our board.

I want us to use the money we have made to secure more.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 14:02:12
Magic your talking like that money just gets banked. when surely you know it costs about 60-70 million to run Celtic each year?

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 14:16:42
So when we win it's only because another team is poor or in turmoil but when we lose its a crisis and all the boards fault.
You could get a job at daily record with views like that.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 14:22:36
Oldkilly do you honestly think I meant just beating Sevco? I mean crushing them
As a club forever. Our second team could smash that shower. I’m talking about no way back, no challenge. Done.

If you are trying to interpret my posts read the one that stated our second team could do them up above. I want King out, Scouser out? The resources to ensure they never pose a threat. That’s jam. Feck my pub team could give them a game. We started letting £60m slip through our fingers by being cautious then they could have a chance. Secure it and they are done.

Ambition to destroy them long term.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 15:05:31
Magicpole you really need to stop seeing them as our rival. They will never again consistently compete against us.
They are an Aberdeen or hibs or hearts now. That's their level. Even without champions league money we beat them hands down with money. Even at their biggest they have only made more money than Celtic once.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 15:07:50
KeV then doesn’t getting CL money become vital with that yearly cost? Doesn’t or shouldn’t that focus the mind to be tooled up to ensure we cover the costs? Or just have faith everything will work out?

What would a couple of years failing to do so mean to our progress? Feck it to a standstill that what would happen.

I do t care what anybody says, failing to prepare is a rubbish strategy. And dangerous.

I’ve said it before, no one but ourselves will feck us up. Our dithering waiting game is only good when luck is with us.

We have brought in more than we have spent. We failed to tool up in January and got knocked out by a rubbish Zenit.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2018 15:42:23
Kev because we went through 3-1 as against last year 1-0 does not mean we are miles better. They may have got worse. You can't compare the two. Hearts beat us 4-1. Told us nothing apart from on the day we didn't turn up.

Magicpole: What did you mean by "you lot" are we not all the same lot? Not something you would normally say about your own support? You lot!

I have to say there are some people on here who are putting themselves under pressure because Celtic just won't lose the game that their posts indicate is just around the corner . It's affecting their sleep as they appear a little bit foolish that Rodgers methods rather than been foolish and stupid actually work . Now in his third year Brendan has everyone playing their role, we don't have glory hunters but we have a team that works together and are very hard to beat., in fact we are very hard to score against even playing a very young defence last night, probably the youngest playing in the qualifiers last night.

Magicpole, strengthening is not as easy in our position as you try and make out. We have very good players in the area that we all believe is our weakness in Boyota, Jozo and Ajer.

It's difficult to put a transfer value on the 3 of them but if we replaced 2 of them what standard of player could we attract to Scottish football? The standard of player we are craving to pretty much guarantee to be better than what we've got will be a big expense, on top of that you've got to sell the Scottish game to them.

It's easy for lesser teams in Scotland to strengthen as they are replacing dross. We're trying to replace full internationalists.

Two games and the boy Melling a stand out against us. Showed wee james in all the time and played him. Got to enquire surely?

Thought that lad was the best player on the pitch by far last nite! Really impressed with him.

I agree, the boy was a complete pain in the arse for us in both legs. Would love to see him join us.

Agreed we do need cover at left back . but would he be willing to sit on bench . if he was willing I'd take a chance.

Perhaps the lad can play in a couple of positions? If so he would certainly be an appealing addition.

He is a leftback, never seen him play in another position. but he is the nationalteam`s first choice.

Unless we can get him for ten bob then Lawell won’t move on him.

We didn't have to score last night that was up to Rosenborg and they couldn't so job done. We were totally set up last night to get that result and the players carried out their jobs fantastically. How often have we gone abroad and played in an exciting and cavalier style but lost. I have total faith in Rodgers and the board. Signings will come.

I wouldn't buy him just now as it could only encourage EPL teams to bid bigger for Tierney who might think he isn't wanted by Board and agree to move .
We would then have an untried player in Scotland replacing best left back .
A bad move!,
