Great result but over the two legs unsatisfing performance. Time of year and injuries possibly made that so.
Would like to see 3 or 4 new faces before the next round .
Another centre half and forward + Roberts and if Armstrong is not going sign McGinn as his replacement.
We need cover in defence and upfront + the trickery of Roberts to unlock tight defencive teams.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

03 Aug 2017 06:56:32
This McGinn nonsense again, guys not even a quarter of the player Armstrong is

3-4 players - don't think so at best Roberts and a centre half.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2017 09:28:39
I'd give Armstrong the ultimatum sign or move on . nothing against the boy but we need to move on and if he doesn't want to be part of it then its best for both to part company . mginn no better than what we have . and as we have an abundance of mids then any new one has to be better than we already have imo. on last night good professional performance no body bad but Brown Tierney and sumo were outstanding . sinclair off the game again attacking wise but put in a good defensive display second half.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 Aug 2017 09:57:56
Bhoys we were blessed to have had Paddy kast year. So performances in general won't be as good. You can't replace what he could do so its going to be more difficult unless BR funds a new way to play. that's how it is.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Aug 2017 12:02:06
Don't think there is a need for anyone really, there are still three of the new guys to fit in the team, and there is Ajer at centre back, and Biton as well, I don't rate Biton in midfield at all, but he played not bad at the back last night, the only thing is if Griffith's and Dembelle keep picking up injuries might be worth while buying someone like Moult, who is definitely a striker.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2017 17:56:35
Paddy had some great performances last season and some very average where there any you could genuinely say he turned a game single handed? Also forrest was in good form when we where really motoring . So imo no paddy shouldn't affect the team that much although he does provide different options. also as much as he is maligned I think forrest is superior to hayes. i think a good (cheaper possibly ) alternative to Roberts is Sam Larsson of heerenveen.

That's some display. Is it suspended from the roof of the stand? Looks it to me and would involve the club. Apparently in response to some fans waving the Swastika. Well done Legia, I'd take the hit too for a statement like that.

02 Aug 2017 22:42:39
Ed that's the best astro grass av ever seen amazing.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed007's Note - Rosenborgs' Lerkendal stadium actually has the Desso Grassmaster system pitch on it - the exact same as we are in the middle of installing.}

Looks like some gardeners dislike your post!

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2017 23:09:11
Jozo immense. Armstrong missing and looked unhappy when subbed, get him shipped out now as we have plenty to play his position. And Leigh, "ur teams died mate, beat it" Griff made huge difference when he came on. No fears for next round. Back to La Ramblas shortly! HH.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

02 Aug 2017 23:13:53
Hope not, fed up playing Barca, I want a trip to Germany if we go through.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2017 23:24:11
Armstrongs been missing since the team came back! Clear as day that all the contract stuff is in his mind! Take the highest bid and move on! Thought we won in 2nd gear to be honest! Some of the lads are still finding there feet like Sinclair Hayes and big rogic! Once they've a few more games under there belts they'll be back to normal! Saying for months now we need a CB brought in and hope we get one! Special mention for jozo KT and brown tonite, apart from 10 min In the 2nd half they absolutely strolled it!

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - If we had met Rosenborg in the Play-Off Round we would have been a lot more comfortable. I thought they were a very poor side and no better than most SPFL sides we play who put 10 men behind the ball, have the odd wee burst of possession and chances but never really threaten us. I can't remember a save Gordon had to make tonight and I totally agree with you what we never seemed to hit first gear any time over both ties. It was a lot trickier than I expected but I never doubted that we'd go through, as I said they were a very ordinary side who we struggled to break down.
In the first leg we had Ajer making his debut and tonight we had Bitton at CB and they never really troubled us, we had no striker last week and when LG came on tonight the team's shape look a million times better.}

02 Aug 2017 23:47:37
The fact is everything in midfield seemed to go through Scott Brown, creativity is not his forte, when does Scott Allan come back from his loan deal?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I want to see Rogic in there pulling the strings and pushing forward, it's not Brown's forte who is more suited to winning the ball and keeping possession.}

03 Aug 2017 06:42:34
Personally I thought that was very tense last night, but like someone else said kt, jozo and brown were very good. Sinclair done a lot of good work helping out defending but didn't offer much going forward, maybe because they left him very little space to run into and they knew as we hadn't a recognised forward he was our main threat. I think rogic needs a break once the qualifiers are over as he has had very little rest. Armstrong looked very off the pace last night, I lost count of the amount of hospital balls he gave to team mates. Hayes couldn't seem to control the ball either last night. He needs to improve quickly. I'd agree we definitely need another top centre back, definitely Roberts and probably a centre forward. If Armstrong isn't going to sign get him sold and utilise the fee to bring in a bit more quality.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2017 22:42:57
First time poster hi guys had to be Forest didn't it we do need to buy a cf though before next game any ideas?

Paddy Roberts goes without saying as well.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

02 Aug 2017 23:32:28
Think wee Forrest gets a bit of a raw deal. Yes he blows hot and cold but on his day can be a handful and has scored some vital European goals and toasted Aberdeen in League Cup. Maybe not a 1st pick every week but a great squad player.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Aug 2017 17:51:42
Can paddy not play up top too? Maybe a right winger and a forward in the wee man.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2017 17:52:42
He's had a lot of stick over the years but he seems to have a lot more work ethic about him under Brendan. He still looks about 14 and he's been a celt for 14 years!

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2017 22:36:44
Hi Ed,

Without getting too far ahead of ourselves where does tonight's results leave us in terms of pot seeding? As I see Ajax, Legia, Ludogorets, Salzburg, Dynamo Kiev and Club Brugge all went out tonight and all above us in the co-efficient.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I've got this saved as a note:

We need 3 out of 6 teams above us- Seville, Liverpool, Ajax, Dynamo Kyiv, Napoli and Olympiakos - to fail in qualifiers for us to move up to Pot 3.}

02 Aug 2017 22:46:42
Ajax and KIev went out tonight ed I think?

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Aug 2017 21:56:42
Great finish from Forrest, done a decent job as stand in up top, any idea who we possibly could face after tonight's results, id love a crack at legia warsaw although I'm sure there should b more favourable opposition surely. Can't remember the last time i watched an away game in Europe without biting the nails from both hands, well done bhoys hh.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

02 Aug 2017 22:08:15
Now get off Forrests back. If you count how many times that Bhoy has come up with a goal that has got us through in Europe when no one else could then he has paid his wages on that alone. He is not perfect but what do you expect for Β£12k a week. He is good value. Well done James.

Absolutely delighted with result. 7/ 5 Celtic win. Easy money lol. In Europe now until at least Xmas. Get paddy in for the CL knock out. All this nonsense about Hays replacing / better than Forest, hopefully put to bed for the time being. Wee McGregor was better than Armstrong tonight in the middle. Grif was fantastic when he came on. It's all about progresssing not the display at this stage in the season.

Gutted that Maribor scraped the last seeded spot. I think they'll all be tough, but if we play well we should beat any of them. But give us the 2nd leg at home.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Aug 2017 22:07:37
Tbh they'll all be difficult ties, but at the same time I'd be confident of progressing no matter who we draw from this list, a little worried bout cb with Erik's injury, hopefully a hungry ajer will stake a claim if used. Hh.

Agree1 Disagree1

02 Aug 2017 22:16:33
Dont want slavia prague. don't want Hapoel. let's see. To be fair thete are no mugs here. If we play as we can and have a fit striker we will be ok but we should not go into next round with only Griff as a striker. If we only have him it may all go wrong if he gets an injury.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Aug 2017 22:28:10
Think quarabag, will be the most stressing because of the travel, hapoel, the most interesting because of the banners, maybe am wrong but I would think Slavia is the easiest of the bunch.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

02 Aug 2017 20:46:46
Hayes is clearly wasted out on the right wing. If we can't get Griffith's on start of second half why not switch Hayes into the centre and bring Forrest over to the right.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2017 20:31:56
Playing well but they there for taking now just get griff on park these Norwegians won't know what's hit them, gonny give Forrest some due he's tried at least tonight but we need a focal point and someone who will have that defence worried.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

02 Aug 2017 19:00:42
Ed what ever happened to Paul Hartley joining the set up?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - It went very quiet and now it seems Maloney is in for the job, he was at Lennoxtown the other day.}

02 Aug 2017 20:10:38
You think he might have his eye on another manager's job Ed?
Maybe hearts now but don't see him allowing leven to interfere.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I think that's going to be the problem with Hearts bringing in anyone but I wouldn't rule Hartley out.}

02 Aug 2017 20:35:14

Believable2 Unbelievable0

02 Aug 2017 19:26:33

Can't understand Ajer not starting and can't understand Forrest starting up top. But still confident we'll win.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Aug 2017 18:54:15
Ajer took a sore one against Sunderland, that might explain his absence.

As for Griffiths, I've never quite understood a player being fit enough for the bench but not for the start. Either you risk him or you don't?

Even allowing for my usual negativity and pessimism ones bottom is as squeaky as it was a couple of days ago. I wish I shared you guys optimism but I just don't see this been a stroll in the park. Mibi am just going through ma negative period but although I wasn't there they appear to do ok at Celtic Park even allowing for the fact we were pants on the night. Best news is we didn't concede a goal at home which I think is more important than scoring at home. ☘️.

Evening bhoys,

First time poster, use the site a lot great job Ed.

So what's everyone's ideal midfield for tonight it's a tough one, personally I think we have to put in wee mcgregor but also want rogic to start, and stick in Hayes as looked the part coming off the bench last week.

Afternoon Ed / Bhoys

Your views Ed on if fit does LG start or off the bench?

For me he has to start classic game off first goal the winner for me

If he starts and wilts he can be subbed but say he is only 75 % if we put him on and goes wrong its a waste of a double sub then IMO

Plus give him the opportunity of the best warm up

Got McGregor first goal tonight looking forward to live chat (Y)

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - LG's got to start tonight for me. We need a goal and he's the best striker available, it's as simple as that.}

Hayes and KT playing as wing backs. No idea if there's any truth in it just what I got sent.

02 Aug 2017 16:40:34
Who did you hear that from Kev. Not doubting you, but not so confident with 3 at the back. I heard Griffiths was definitely fit. Id rather he got 55/ 60 minutes from the start than coming on as a sub.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Aug 2017 17:22:20
I don't think Erik merits a start ahead of Ajer. If it's based on experience well my experience of him every time he has played under BR is too slow, stray balls, caught in possession, grabbing players and giving away fouls. Hate talking about any Celtic player that way as I really rated him under Ronny but nah sorry playing him with no form, after injury, and in a back 3 terrifies me.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2017 17:28:35
Just a boy in work got sent it and sent it on blah blah blah. Found it odd myself but since I left McGregor out it may well be the usual formation. I'd be looking for Griff to start though 100%.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2017 12:29:20
Β£198 million for one player? Pure madness, I remember friends laughing a few years back when I said we'd live to see a player being paid a million a week. Doesn't seem so improbable now.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

02 Aug 2017 13:47:24
Daviebhoy : The root cause of this transfer lies at the feet of Sky, they are the ones that paid the EPL the ridiculous amount of money year on year, when you think of teams ( no disrespect intended) that get Β£100m for being relegated from the EPL and yet their average gate attendance is around 21-30k each week. That's where it started and believe you me it will IMPLODE
Absolute rediculous amout of money for ANY player.

Agree2 Disagree1

02 Aug 2017 13:47:58
I don't like Neymar after his antics against us, but I'm not going to have a pop at him over this move. If someone is offering him Β£650k (tax free) a week to kick a ball then he isn't going to to turn it down? If that's his market value then he takes it.

What I will say though is that his transfer reflects everything that is wrong with football. This is a team wilfully defying the FFP rules. The fee involved in this transfer is scandalous, and the alleged salary is nothing short of disgusting. Football bores me when this crap happens. It has transcended from sport into a circus.

Agree4 Disagree0

02 Aug 2017 14:10:15
They'll make that back through shirt sales, new sponsors, etc. over the course of his contract.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2017 14:32:42
I hear Messi has re-signed for over half a million a week. Can't help feeling that's greed. Everyone wants enough cash to be secure, but who the hell needs that much? Is he worth 250 times more than a doctor, or 700 times more than a nurse? I don't buy the "it's a free market" argument. Markets are human constructs, and we can choose to make them fair.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Aug 2017 14:42:22
Peter bhoy how can sky and the premier league be at fault for oil money being spent on a player? Sure premier league clubs have started paying inflated fees because of large income but oil money is oil money!

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2017 15:09:30
SoSbhoy: Sky are the ones that started this ball rolling, but now you have to be a billionaire to run a club, remember when the price of crude oil goes up 1p the owners make Β£500m so they have nothing else to spend it on, so now that the EPL clubs have more money than sense, the oil shieks have decided to splash SOME of their loose change. That's my thoughts anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2017 15:18:49
650k a week vs KT on 15k? People can talk supply and demand, oil money, media money and any other reasons for this but objectively speaking KTs wage is actually daft enough for playing football. Something will have to give as it's completely potty.
