Ed any idea what potential plans may be for Mikey Johnston this summer? He got a couple of games a while back but has had very little game time recently and might benefit from a loan. Maybe St. Mirren? He'd get Premiership football and work under a highly rated manager who has put a lot of faith in youngsters already.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I've no idea what the plan is, Kev.}

29 Mar 2018 20:29:38
I’d like to see him get a bit of game time but can’t really see it unless he gets some minutes after the league is wrapped up. A loan could be the making of him as he seems to be a class above a lot of the other development boys at times.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't keep up with the youth teams half as much as I used to but I'd agree that he should be playing more regularly and a loan is probably his best bet for doing that.}

29 Mar 2018 20:47:09
He's out injured for the rest of the season kev.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - So he is, I forgot that. Cheers, Gordo.}

29 Mar 2018 20:49:15
Didnt he get a bad injury? . maybe still not back from that yet.
Hail hail.

I like to see young Jack Aitchison go out on loan next year. Still scoring for fun at youth level. Maybe a year on Liam to a Hibs or Motherwell type team can develop him further.

29 Mar 2018 21:00:38
Totally forgot about his injury guys. Well remembered.

29 Mar 2018 21:05:06
I would be disappointed if Jack Atchison goes out on loan next season . Based on what has happened over the last decade, heading out on loan is the fore runner of leaving full time . I would prefer Jack to go the Kieran Tierney route to regular first team starring.

Agree0 Disagree2

29 Mar 2018 21:38:02
I hear what you’re saying Chris but realistically he’s not going to get much game time with us next season and he’s only turned 18 this month. Both Ajer and Christie have benefitted from Loan with other SPL clubs and would like to see how he performs at this level consistently.

And McGregor, did well on loan in England.

29 Mar 2018 22:35:41
Right enough Aindoh banged in a good few goals for Notts County.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2018 23:32:16
Be good to see a few of the youngsters go out on loan. Johnston, Miller, Aitchison, Hill and Hazard again. If they aren't going to get regular game time then find a team that'll play them regularly. They'll progress better than playing in the development league against kids their own age.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2018 23:54:29
Did I hear on the radio, that the reserve league in some sort of format will be going next year?

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Mar 2018 01:03:33
Aindoh- hope it was a cross signal that has been played on a constant doomsday loop from a coat hanger on the end of bombers fishing rod you picked up :) .
Genuinely hope not. I still miss the televised development games on ctv.
That extra cut. Why bother with any youth set up if they can't get a game for the reserves and test against a level up? It's a massive gap. Smaller clubs and bigger clubs will l miss out on so many decent players. Some lads might never get a career in the game.
Instead of an England shift happening at 20/ 22 It will cut that to youth age. Plenty more lost players.
Frightening.
I'd like these lads to do well. The team will be rebuilt and shifted around in the summer. I'd prefer blooding than a bloodbath. Mcgregor will play a lot of football late summer regardless. few of the current crop will be given a go as well.
I don't like that news if true.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Mar 2018 01:26:17
Aside from the post above

It's about picking the right clubs/ managers and if need be inserting a play clause as long as the player is good enough and the reciprocal game time is upheld. Other end. Hit and hope loan punts for example, benyu. Are never going to kick a ball in anger for us again.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's all right mentioning less than a handful who have went out on loan and have comeback to do a middling or better job for us . However in this century alone over one hundred players whom we had high hopes for have gone out on loan and either fell on the scrap heap or are plying their trade at a lower level .
Our manager says he prefers to work with permanent players, although he signs loan players with the hope of them becoming permanent . He certainly doesn't sign players to improve them for any other manager or team .
Do you think a CE O of another club wants his manager spending time with a player to improve hi for Celtic . CEO is likely to tell manager to use the loan player to fill a hole in team but develop their permanent players . When loan players join other clubs it is often the first time they have left home, temptations from the young boys and girls to party and not live the life style of a 24/ 7 althlete are sometimes hard to overcome
Young Tierney is our model 24/ 7 althlete, the club are proud of him every day no matter where he goes . He got a good up bringing at home that will stand him in good steed.

30 Mar 2018 16:32:36
J Aitchisons dad passed away a few weeks ago aged only 43.Celtics taken the pressure of the young guy and withdrew him from the first team for a few weeks.
He has been assured that he is still very much in brendans plans, and has said he`s determined to make his dad very proud, and do the best he can in his memory.
therefore I don't see him going out on loan as I would think Celtic will be wanting to give him a bit time to come to terms with the loss of his Dad.

ED007 I feel very old but wallowing in nostalgia as there is a Youtube video of "The Original Celtic Song" composed in 1967 and sung by Tommy "big fat" Toal
CELTIC ON THE BALL
I remember singing this as a boy
C E L T I C, I See Celtic, Celtic on the ball
I would be grateful if your good self or one of your tech guys could put the clip up here, it also has footage of Lisbon. hail hail.

Ralston Hendry ajer Tierney what a back 4 as long as young Tony steps up could be the youngest and best back 4s around and plenty of mileage in them.

Add McKenna and make a European winning defence.

Agree0 Disagree6

29 Mar 2018 12:56:07
Was very i. pressed with him the other night read the game well and his distribution was excellent might be worth a shout. also get mcginn signed up before we lose him to England hopefully not another one we regret not signing.

Agree3 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Is that what folk are basing the McKenna talk on, a meaningless international friendly against a very poor Hungarian team? Deary me - talk about MOTD Fever!}

29 Mar 2018 13:29:28
It'll be the highest level he's played at ed am not to fussed with internationals but a tuned in because the 4 Celts were playing they all played well and so did McKenna that's only based on that game would need to see more of him.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - You don't need to explain yourself for watching a Scotland game, (3 Hail Marys and an Our Father and you'll be fine lol) each to their own. I said myself I've not seen that much of McKenna, he was an unused sub when Aberdeen played us at Celtic Park, but from what I have seen he is well below the level of Ajer and Hendry and we need players that are above that level for Europe. I do remember that he had a torrid time at Ibrox in Aberdeen's 3-0 defeat earlier this year.}

29 Mar 2018 13:58:02
I have mentioned the defence of
Raleston Hendry Ajer Tierney a few times since January.
I'd be excited to see that. But got to agree with ed here the boy fae Aberdeen has never stood out to me.
I would put both boyata and Simi if we can and bring in another centre half that has more experience at a higher level than him.

Agree0 Disagree2

29 Mar 2018 14:10:31
Totally agree ed he had a good game on Tues but would need to see more. btw it was 10 hail Mary's mate not that fussed about Scotland.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm just hoping we're targeting a better standard than McKenna this summer. And that Boyata has a storming World Cup!}

29 Mar 2018 15:08:25
Does Boyata start for Belgium ED?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't think so.}

29 Mar 2018 16:26:35
Boyata didn’t get on the pitch during the international break which probably explains Belgiums clean sheet.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2018 16:59:42
How much do you think celtic would want for Boyata? 3 million?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't know but I'd be happy with that.}

29 Mar 2018 17:16:12
We often have clean sheets when Boyata is playing for us . Unfortunately instead of supporting and encouraging him some of our so called fans are giving him the cold Ambrose.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Mar 2018 12:50:04
Old man their is no hiding the fact that boyata isn't good enough for us.
He consistently passes the ball straight to the opposition. His decision making is shocking.
Everytime he's near the ball the rest of the team you nervous
People talk like fan support will turn him in maldini when in fact it won't make any difference.
Will he's on the park he will have my support but it won't change my opinion that he just isn't good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Mar 2018 21:55:49
Kev83 . I don't understand your third line .
Talk about been nervous, seriously, whenever Boyata gets ball, you can hear the fans moan and groan, if he miss places his pass ( and everyone makes a miss place pass sooner or later) he can hear the shouts of abuse . Exactly the same way as a previous centre half Ambrose was treated . Ambrose is now one of the best centre halves outside of Celtic in the SPL . Kev83 is it the fans of Celtic who decides who plays for Celtic or is Brendan Rodgers . I think the fans would take great exception if they found out that D D and P L were picking players for the team.

Brendan Rodgers will definitely leave if he feels that he isn't at liberty to pick his team, he won't stand for board interference, nor fan interference and if he did he would go down in my estimation.

Maybe pop in myself. used to frequent the Whiskey Well in the distant past. what a boozer. Thatb name right ED? Well or Dell?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The Whisky Well is 2 mins from my house mate. It changed it's name a few years ago to The Duke Inn and sold a bit of the pub to Ladbrokes or Hills but the pub has closed altogether now. I drank in it a few times but was more a Mill Inn or Low Waters Miner's man unless I was down in Hamilton in The Manor/The Quarry where Kelly's is opening.}

29 Mar 2018 13:02:23
All my family drank in the well lol . A stayed behind it in my youth . Buchanan crescent. Next door to big pat McCann. Trying to talk my bro into going ed lol

Is it the quarry up the top cŕoss it's opening?

Yeah, Del, across from Maverix/Mavrix, it was called The Manor back in the day.}

Seen this post on Twitter, thought it was a decent post with a lot of views. Let's see what our view is.

Celtic midfielders

Forrest
Roberts
N'tcham
Brown
Bitton
Armstrong
Sinclair
Hayes
Rogic
McGregor
Musonda
Kouassi
Allan
Christie
Morgan
Benyu

All competing for 5 places next year, who stays who goes and do we need to buy any midfielders?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

29 Mar 2018 10:15:42
That's a match-day squad right there!

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2018 10:36:01
Hayes Bitton and Allen can definitely leave. Rogic and Armstrong will probably go. Beny out on loan to see if he's got it. I'd say well go for mcginn.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Mar 2018 12:49:53
Let Allan, Hayes, Benyu, Rogic, Massonda, Koussi leave or go on loan dependent on age Try hard to sign up or give new contracts to the others.
Keep Bitton as cover for different positions and add McGinn

Could you imagine the following teams next season

Gordon Bain
Lusnig Ralston
Ajer Hendrey
Boyata Siminovic
McKenna Compper/ Bitton
Tierney A. N. Other
Forrest Roberts
Brown McGinn
Armstrong Ntcham
Sinclair Morgan
MacGregor Christie
Griffiths Dembele
With Edouard Aitchison Koussi Millar and others in reserve

And yes I know i have named 12 man teams but it gives you a flexible formation to choose from dependent on opposition.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Mar 2018 12:29:25
A successful team playing over 60 matches a season domestically and in Europe would need about 15 midfield players in order for manager to have cover for injuries suspensions and loss of form . In the modern midfield many midfield positions require specific skills and hence the manager may need 2/ 3 players to adequately cover a midfield position . I have read every year posters pouring scorn against the manager buying new midfield players, and during the season for the reasons listed above I have often seen us down to thee bare bones.
