Guys I have said before on here I want RD to be a big success, do I believe that will happen? I have my doubts and here is why.He is still very inexperienced and will change things too quickly for me. You CANNOT change things for the CL qualifiers they are too important.You just get thro them>period, then worry about changing things.we all know we don't have the players for this 433 yet.Its very unusual for a manager from abroad to be successful in Scotland.We have practically the same team as last year and I was very confident of getting thro to CL before a ball was kicked last year. am I as confident this time around?No.
Alas his 1st signing has been made, a player he obv knows.If Lennon had made this signing he would be getting pelters for it.Is he a better player than we already have? Seriously doubt that.
But I more than willing to give RD time and will support him thro thick and thin as usual because that's what we do, soz but I just don't have a good feeling about this and hope I very very wrong but time will tell.

Rome wasn't built in a day am man give Ronnie time I have every faith in him

Agree0 Disagree0

Nobody knew who larsson was before we bought him or lubo for that matter and larsson was brought in as a wide man if u remember and look how he turned out, all I'm saying is give the boy a couple of games before we start getting on his back u never know he might be a belter.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Is that the same Larsson that scored in a World Cup third place play-off three years previously and who everyone instantly recognised and remembered because of his hair? Anyone who watched USA '94 must have known who Larsson was.}

I am all for giving him a chance; but the bigger picture suggests concern.
Look at the turn around in quality over the past 6 years or so and the amount of players who are being rushed out the door at the hint of a big bid and see, we have real problems building and keeping a quality side that Celtic supporters pay for and expect to entertain them.
I accept the sale of players is needed to balance the books in a one horse league - but we are not replacing like with like and are seriously lacking in the type of players that excite us.
Another small worry is in a year when we have a new manager, learning the job and settling in - we arrange to play CL qualifiers at a rugby stadium 30 odd miles away from home just to accommodate our detractors.
I am beginning to think Celtic is no longer the main priority of Mr Lawell.

Agree0 Disagree0

Did we not refuse more than one £8m bid for Hooper in the January before last 16 game against Juventus . We accepted less in the summer.

Great. Another signing nobody has heard of. What is actually going on up there, I'm struggling to make any sense of it. I'm not in the Tony Watt fan club (nothing against the lad either) but why him? Why not Balde stokes, Fridjohnnson, Griffiths. So much for Watt getting a chance. ED I think you called this right this decision has been made probably by PL. The manager probably didn't have a say in this or was railroaded into saying 'yes' just sell Watt. But to bring in this Norwegian guy who is a striker but doesn't score a lot of goals. (Yet another) I'm now speechless and away to phone the Samaritans.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Is that the samaras fanclub

Agree0 Disagree0

No way man! Loved him for 90mins when he scored double at Castle grey skull, he dined out on them two goals for long enough.

Bit of a negative over-reaction to the signing of Inge Berget! Our record of signing forwards isn't exactly great, we signed Bangura and Murphy (add Balde possibly?) permanently and they were on our books for years til we eventually got rid of them! On the other hand we signed Miku and Brozek on loan with the option to buy deals and dodged 2 bullets by getting rid of them after the loan spell! Its an astute low risk move, the last thing we need is another poor forward on our books for years! He's not an out and out striker either so once CL qualification is secured I think we'll buy a proven goalscorer

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Welcome big Jo, I think you will be a great signing because our manager knows you and must be aware of your ability .

Ok bhoys and ghirls RD has just made a quick out of the blue signing who is young very pacey and has a good bit of technique hasn't scored a lot of goals but neither has tony watt or teemu pukki or amido balde? The best thing of all is he is free with the option to sign in January a descent bit of business for now anyway what harm does it do he will get game time and if he gives something we haven't got then great sign him in jan but if not then no harm done unlike untested amido balde or overrated derk boerrigter that cost us a combined 3.9 million quid? But if you read between the lines here RD clearly thinks we are lacking something it also proves he knows what he wants give him more time we are at a precarious position at the moment with qualification and the tours etc . Let's just trust his judgement we will sign more players of higher calibre I'm sure of it but let the man work .

Celtic always

Chalky - hmm I'm no sure about this

I don't know what to make of Peter Lawwell, he's been at the Club over a decade and we all sway from hero to zero to hero again depending on the transfer window and results.

What would he/Dermot Desmond get out of Celtic not qualifying for Europe and this downsizing some speak of, descending into mediocrity - it makes no sense?

I know he's a balancing the books kinda guy, practical but he must also know about football and being a slave to results. I know on the surface of things, Celtic are very well run and he wouldn't struggle if he left Celtic.

However, recent transfer dealing have left most baffled. We manage to get Kayal, Izzy, Hooper, Wanyama, Ledley, Matthews, Forster, VVD all on the cheap - fair enough. But none of us can see the long term plan here, we are crying out for a centre forward and a decent one, we get a loan signing. Nae herm to the guy himself, hope he does well but the stats don't encourage.

Edwardian07 - wits the score?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - You know me, I always look for the positives in things but I'm struggling here. I'm clinging to the hope that Deila knows what he's doing. I was hoping for a decent first signing as a statement of intent and to give the new manager and whole place a boost but that's certainly not happened.}

Were precarious because we need a proven goalscorer and someone who has never scored more than 8 in any given season

Agree0 Disagree0

Chalky bhoy i'm with you on this one, RD has put him straight on the squad list for wednesday, which to me says he has seen a lot of this lad to throw him straight away.He obviously has faith in him and I have faith in RD.Ed what's your thoughts on this signing?wee Ole obviously seen something in him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It's a strange one but he played under Deila during a loan spell at Stromsgodset in 2010 so the manager must think he can do a job. I think everyone, including myself, is totally underwhelmed by it being his first signing and on the same day Watt leaves. For the next six months everything Berget does is going to be compared to Watt.}

This young lad hasn't been brought in as THEE striker to take us forward not by any means but the gaffer said he is a hard worker so what does that say about watt or any the rest of them?. Please gents I am with you all I crave one or two good quality signings but this lad may help the squad no harm done if he doesn't . I will say one thing about RD he keeps his cards very close to his chest whatever he does . The scottish papers are grasping at straws and I for one am happy about it I will not slate the manager or the board . not yet anyway

Celtic Always

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm delighted RD has got rid of some dead wood ( and a bad Apple IMO ) and got someone in he knows and clearly trusts. the RD era has begun HH bhoys and ghirls

Agree0 Disagree0

Chalky I think it is just the shock of losing Watt when most of us thought he'd take this second chance and whatever went wrong then we get a loan signing.

I'm definitely not going to slate the Manager, he needs time and we've only seen a couple of games.

The Board are practical first and always have been which is frustrating from the fans point of view.

If the guys a hard worker and can at least create in the stubborn defences we face, then it can only be a good thing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chalky bhoy, last night one of the main moans was that we weren't linked with anyone . Now we have got a player apart from us not knowing anything about him we haven't paid enough .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Do you read things back before you send them in?}

Yourman I think you have misread my post bud!

Ed any info on the new Norwegian guy? I've never heard of him hope you can shed some light on him .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Sorry mate, the only reason I've heard of him was because Ole Gunnar Solskjaer signed him and I recognised the name.}

28 Jul 2014 20:28:57
I was wondering if the home leg v Legia Warsaw is included in the season ticket

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - No. Season ticket holders can now purchase tickets priced at £20 for adults, £10 for concessions and £5 for under 13′s. Season ticket holders can also purchase up to 4 additional tickets.}

28 Jul 2014 17:59:01
Ed just been reading sly sports updates and now just seen Burnley are looking to make a bid for Efe Ambrose, I have to say am one worried celtic fan, Watt VVD, FF, seeing all these players linked to moves away from the club what about players coming in surly we have money to spend, why are we not even linked with any players can't understand just hope Ronnie is not. Yes man. What's your opinion Ed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It's the people running the club, I've been saying it for at least the past year.}

28 Jul 2014 22:30:57
Why do we need to be linked to players, we just brought someone in nobody knew about. This tends to be the way we do our business,on the quiet so no one jumps in and steals or the price goes up.The best way for me I think regardless of who the player is.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2014 20:05:32
Brill! Brill New striker & his biggest weakness according to Norwegian press is his,,,,,,,,,,,, FINISHING! Left footed appears to play on the left of the front three, so where now for Commons! 17 in 63 in Norway

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Jul 2014 19:47:38
so we ship off tony watt and and make a loan signing for some unknown norwegian guy who can't even get into cardiffs team pi55ed off doesn't describe it our signing policy is a pile of ****

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Now Now, this signing came right out of the blue.

I am not happy that Tony Watt has been sold, I don't know what happens behind closed doors but if RD has allowed him to leave then I will trust his judgement.

In regards to Jo Inge Berget - RD clearly knows him and if he feels he is worth bringing in then am happy to go with it. His record is not great, he was with Udinese so there must be something about him.

I am liking Pukki so far this year, would look to have Griffiths up tops myself as I think if he can knuckle down and sort his private life out he can be a really good player.

Jo Inge might just be the Target man we need - hope to see him get some game time on Wednesday.

Agree0 Disagree0

He doesn't play as a targetman, he plays second striker or out wide

Agree0 Disagree0

Hence the reason he doesn't really score a lot of goals.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2014 19:34:21
watt out, jo inge berget on loan, never scored more than 8 in one season, 1.2 million in replaced with a loan , if this is the shape of things to come the board aren't going to handcuff ronny like they did with wgs and nl it looks like they are going to chop his hands off, underwhelmed

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Listen this time last night we didn't even know that Celtic was interested in a player . God knows who or how many we will have signed before the end of this month .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Exactly, God knows and it's not looking good so far.

hi can anyone help me out i'm in portinax Ibiza anyone know any bars that will show the game thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The Huddle Bar in San Antonio is worth a visit. I watched the 3-0 win against Karagandy there last summer, place went absolutely mental every time we scored. Had a great night in there

I never seen it at the time but on 5th July Ronny said 'I don't give away minutes, you have to earn them. Every player in pre-season will get minutes and then we'll see,

He was also talking about Tony Watt in the same interview and how he has to make the most of this second chance back at Celtic - now he's gone by the looks of it?

I don't know what to make of all this, has his attitude not improved?

I have no issues and i'm quite happy with Ronny saying minutes have to be earned. I don't see what Izzy should sit on the bench whilst Chalmers gets first team experience having done nothing in training or the friendlies (just an example)

At this time, RD is making all the right noises and now he's let one of our forward players go when we're already light on attacking options which maybe shows he isn't going to take any nonsense and he's not all talk. Can see a few on their way out if this is that way its going to go.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - My own opinion of Chalmers is that he should be seen as the main challenger to Izaguirre, there's no need to buy cover for LB with Chalmers (and Mulgrew *groan*) there. Izaguirre will need a rest at times like all players do, he is prone to picking up minor injuries as well and he will be travelling for internationals etc so that and early rounds of the cups should give Chalmers his chance, if he's training well and playing well for the reserves that is.
Chalmers should be aiming for between 10/15 first-team appearances this season, if he gets that he will progress and kick-on IMO.
I'll be sad to see Watt leave, if he leaves, when he first came to us he was a fantastic young player, somewhere along the line something's went very wrong and both the player and club must share the responsibility for that, I mean let's face it, he's hardly Ballotelli.}

Watt (like other young immature men) needed a Tommy Burns figure in the management team to guide and mould him to realise his potential.
Too many promising youngsters like Rogic, Mcgeough and Watt lost momentum and direction under NL's regime and we need to address this.

JJ

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I didn't want to say that, Jim, or I'd have been accused of NL bashing and upset 'Yourman'.}

Well I was thinking that myself, he’s hardly the next big hitter.

I’m not really into the whole Club and Manager bashing but as you say, Manager and player need to look at themselves. Don’t think anyone is expecting perfection all the time. I see some are having a breakdown over it but I can’t see it or how the Club are in the wrong here, am I missing something?

My oldest Son is 16 now and his Club are strict with them, they look at the player to take responsibility so Tony Watt certainly knows the score. What an absolute waste!

I hope some of the youth players can prove me wrong and do make a case for themselves under Ronny.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I just think the club need to take some of the responsibility for keeping youngsters on the straight and narrow. It's them that are putting young men in the spotlight and paying them shed loads of money, they should be helping prepare them for that.}

Jungle Jim . You are entitled to your post the same as anyone else . I know you have no personnal vendetta against anyone .
I agree with you, too many players lost their way under Lennon, but I would also say under WGS MO'N and Tommie Burns as well.
It isn't just a Celtic problem, I think its at the very least an English and Scottish Problem .

Agree0 Disagree0

Iv been told that chalmers isn't going to cut it at first team level! I would be more than happy to have a youth academy prospect back up izzy but it seems there isn't one of a high enough calibre!

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you think that the clubs don't try .
I would think most clubs including Celtic would be doing as much as they can . If a player wants to mess around there is little the clubs can do.
Isn't it a big part of Jim McGuinness's role to try and create a better environment for the players and explain fully the type of lifestyle young players should have .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - - If they're not keeping them fit I can't see them bothering to much to help players mature. Clubs are responsible for taking young players and turning them into men. I expect a lot of Haakon Lunov's ideas to be implemented, him and RD obviously have experience and better ideas regarding producing quality youngsters than anyone we have at the club.
If Deila wants Watt to go then we need to trust his judgement but I have a hunch the decision hasn't been made by Delia.}

Clubs may take their responsibilities serious, but if the youngsters don't agree to their rules and guidelines and cover-up, there isn't much the club can do.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Watt is 20 years old and got a bit of swagger about him, did you ever hear about Scott Brown when he was young? He's hardly a Ravel Morrison or Balotelli, we've got Leigh Griffiths in our squad!!}

28 Jul 2014 02:08:44
Ed big Virgil linked with move, efe linked with burnley, Forster linked with everyone and now watt off as we'll is there any good news about maybe some players coming in?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I've got nothing Tam, sorry.}

Come on bhoys, from we made our first Communion, we have read and heard that our Board our Selling all our best players . Rarely is there any truth .
