Ed any news on Kouassi, felt he was just beginning to show what he has to offer before the injury. He is the real deal and bossed the games he played in albeit briefly, so hopefully soon?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2017 23:00:23
I believe he had ankle surgery a week or two ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 20:36:31
Right Ed I know you're in the other camp and I'm in for a kicking here but I think a lot of us are a bit harsh on Craig Gordon. Aye (1) he loses the odd goal at his near post (2) now and again he kicks opponents in the head and (3) isn't the sweeper keeper BR would like him to be. But (4) he wasn't signed as BRs dream sweeper keeper (5) he's an excellent shot stopper which for me is more important and (6) apart from the aforementioned Boruc and Forster he's possibly the next best keeper I've seen at Celtic Park and I've being going a wee while and lastly (7) for me our immediate need for a centre half and back up No. 9 are both far greater than our need for a new goalkeeper. He wasn't sold for £9m many years ago for no reason. Ok that's me done and away to dodge the bullets! ☘️.

{Ed007's Note - You can't be THAT drunk on a school night!}

28 Aug 2017 20:56:30
Sober as a judge Ed and up early in the morning so I'm away to ma bed before the onslaught from all directions. Goodnight and God Bless! ☘️.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Night mate.}

28 Aug 2017 21:05:41
Point six is the one that ends the debate for me JFP. It's a position we've regressed in. Address it.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 23:01:01
He loses numerous times at the near post not the odd goal. Big Herman was sold for 10 million and CG brought in for nothing. Whatever their doing in training isn't working as sweeper keeper. Yes a good shot stopper and has "Schumacher" moments! A good back up is needed.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2017 00:12:03
I think Gordon is an excellent keeper and the criticism he receives is way over the top.

Agree2 Disagree3

29 Aug 2017 06:27:49
We should be thankfully we have Gordon, things could be worse, we could have Joe Hart.

Agree1 Disagree1

28 Aug 2017 20:13:56
He's back.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2017 21:04:39
Cracker RT10 👍☘️.

Agree1 Disagree1

28 Aug 2017 22:59:19
cringeworthy for a guy only getting signed on a one year loan deal.

Agree1 Disagree3

29 Aug 2017 01:17:13
Youll no he saying that when he's terrorising every defence in scotland.

Agree1 Disagree0

29 Aug 2017 09:41:57
I'm very happy he is back. But does anyone else feel we are getting carried away for a loan? Especially the no. 7.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 20:09:12
Anyone know when psg General sale tickets go on sale and can I buy online?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2017 22:07:41
It's sold out mate think the 3 games will be as there on package.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 20:06:20
What would your ideal team (realistically) be for the champions league group stages?

Mines would be:

Ward

Lustig Simunovic Skrtel Tierney

Brown Ntcham

Roberts Rogic Sinclair

Dembele.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2017 20:34:27
Damn yes to the new goalie.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 21:10:27
I'd have Ward for sure. I'd also take a punt on Karius. Surely something could give there.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 22:10:51
Switch Dembele for Griff.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 22:31:19
At the moment think I would still give Armstrong the nod over Ntcham. Just feel that he offers more going forward and changes the way we attack as a team.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2017 18:05:29
Agree on armstrong. I think ntcham should rotate with brown for league games as i feel he is browns replacement. Only play them both together in champions league.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 20:02:13
Over the moon Paddy is back, (Never in doubt Ed) . Tried and trusted and can go straight into the team. Couldn't care less that it's a loan it knocks another year off his Man City contract we can get back to the negotiating table next summer. He did enough last season to earn the No 7 shirt, He will do it proud.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2017 20:55:13
Delighted. It looked like we had a slight sniff of a permanent deal at one point but chuffed nonetheless. Like you say, there's another chance next year and if City still don't want him in their plans then surely he'd have to think about a permanent move somewhere, and it could be us. The bhoy takes us up a notch. Capable of beating a man at any level either to make space for somebody else or to grab a goal, which he has in him, and some of his through balls are just exquisite. We're a better team with Paddy in it.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 21:28:37
Definitely JT he can make something happen out of nothing we have definitely missed him. Hearing he is in the huff already though as KT has put the foot down and taken the top bunk for the season. Hoping we can add 1 or 2 players before the deadline to help us in the CL. I'd try for Steven Caulker he would add some serious steel to our defence.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 19:56:03
Just seen that Liverpool are willing to let origi go out on loan if they can secure another striker, would have him up here in a heart beat!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2017 19:38:33
Well done Ed on predicting not only the PR deal but the fact that he got the magic number too mate

I know sometimes you feel when you put a name up it doesn't end well for you so take a bow buddy quite a few were hopeful of getting PR but never seen him getting the squad number (Y)

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed007's Note - Cheers mate. I was always quietly confident that Roberts would be back playing for Celtic this season one way or another.}

28 Aug 2017 20:01:58
Well done ED now so u have anymore predictions?

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - I'll say there will be 2 more signings, Rich as I said yesterday.}

28 Aug 2017 21:14:39
Right that would be more than I would expect but I am in awe of your knowledge ED mate any commital as to who or what position?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - It's no secret that we're in the market for a CB and a striker and I'll be surprised if Lee Congerton hasn't came up with options for both positions. I said at the time I didn't think Rivaldo Coetzee was being brought in as a first team player, I seen him more as a long term project like Ajer and Kouassi.}

28 Aug 2017 22:31:36
Yeah I hope they have got something up their sleeves and I hope uve got some idear of what mite be up that sleeve?

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Aug 2017 09:43:07
you didn't have to be mystic meg to predict paddy was coming back jamie, he took another years lease out on his flat back in May.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 18:47:00
Really disappointed that wee Paddy's deal isn't permanent but if that's it then that's it. Let's enjoy the wee man's talents for another season and see where it takes us. First time post . Hail Hail bhoys.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2017 18:43:13
Love that Paddy has came home, but I'm not sure about giving the iconic number 7 jersey to a loan player. I understand there has been a few dubious number 7's recently but a permanent Paddy number 7 woulda been better.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2017 19:03:43
Permanent would have been everyone's first choice, but I'm happy he's got the no.7. The most exciting player with the ball at his feet since Lubo and the king.
Not counting the iconic pat McCourt obviously lol!

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 19:08:58
Agree michael, as much as i am over the moon that he is back, No loan player should be given the 7 imo.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Roberts isn't the first loanee to wear it.}

28 Aug 2017 19:45:26
Yeah i remember not being happy when keane got it Ed. Chuffed the wee mans back tho. Just think it should be kept for one of our own, like cifti or zurawski ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Not just Keane, Miku was given it as well.}

28 Aug 2017 19:48:01
Its just a number. Probably more bad or mediocre player worn it that great.

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - No probably about it, Kev. Freddie Ljungberg?}

28 Aug 2017 20:07:53
Am a dumbass that bought one of the first Junihno authentic strips paid a mint for it too at a charity night too every time a look at it a just shake my head . A well could have been worse could have got a miku one.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - More money than sense you.}

28 Aug 2017 20:09:25
Don't quite understand how anyone can be unhappy he got the No 7 jersey.
Surely our best player should get that number, what do we do not have it till someone special comes along?
What happens if that someone special is pish or injured.
I say give it out every season but only to our best player.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 20:49:44
I wouldn't worry about it Jamiebhoy, you have yourself a World Cup Winner's top, the only ex Celtic player to have won it.

Aye Ed and an IQ of 136 :-P (Y)

Anyone know what number paddy's has been assigned?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2017 18:32:31
Just poped on sly sports that season long loan confirmed. Hell of a player for us but the deal is underwhelming for me. Gona lose him for vital qualifiers next year. Tbh i don't understand his mentality. Surely if city were willing to let him go. He has no futre there. I can't see that changing in a season.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2017 18:38:14
If it's only one year and no possibility to buy him then that's us developing him to make them money. I wonder how much we offered.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 18:46:21
The wee video of him back is cool and it looked like the picture shown the came from that moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 18:49:34
Patience mate. He has come back, and for that I am delighted. He turned down other options. So what if it's just one year. Next summer we should table a £7m offer and no wait until after the CL qualifiers.

Dunno Mally. I'm stumped.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 18:51:50
I second that, whit?

Not a fan of wingers. Or loan deals?

It's not like we've just signed joe nobody, it's paddy. A player who can tear teams apart by himself who only a couple of years ago cost 12 million pounds.

What's wrong with people!?

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 19:44:28
Does that include jinky am flummoxed.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 18:52:40
What you on TTT. Not a fan of wingers?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 17:34:40
Delighted that Paddy is back in the hoops but have to admit I'm completely underwhelmed that it's a loan deal. Cannot understand why it has taken so long to conclude. Also wouldn't surprise me if that was the end of the transfer business for this window. Clearly need another CH and striker but imagine it will be "We we're close to a couple of deals but couldn't get them over the line" deja vu with this board. Go on prove me wrong, I dare ya!

Believable4 Unbelievable0

28 Aug 2017 17:50:23
Ntcham 4.5 plus wages, Hayes - cover for GMS and Commons leaving, Benyu - raw prospect Armstrong extension and now Paddy who won't be cheap nobody of note has left we are in champions league and still undefeated. While I agree we need a striker and wouldn't mind a Centre Half the manager wants a right squad don't think we have too much to moan about. We won't get a better keeper than Gordon for money we can afford!

Agree1 Disagree2

28 Aug 2017 18:00:39
I've always liked Adrian from West Ham whose been pushed out by joe hart. Or Danny ward from Liverpool as an alternative to CG.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 18:02:00
Forster cost 2 million, Boruc was £600k there is 2 examples that a far better keeper is available for decent money.

Dragowski at Fiorentina would be a good choice and won't cost a fortune.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 18:15:49
We had a cb lined up unfortunately he's injured.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Aug 2017 18:26:35
Kev T as good as FF was do u think he could play the way BR wants?
He was good but no so great with his feet, I also remember loads of posts on here slating him for not coming for crosses.
CG gets it on here but there is no way we could get better for the money unless we got very lucky.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 18:49:34
I think FF would be fine playing the way BR wants us to play. Gordon has let us down many times and is the weakest link in our team.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 20:28:02
Does no one remember the mistakes that FF made, am sure there were a few in big matches.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 16:43:08
Ed what's your thoughts? (1) Paddy on a loan deal is better than nothing I admit as we'd still have his talent available to us particularly in the CL when we could be desperado for a outball to take pressure off defence but what's your educated guess in percentage terms of us managing a permanent deal 50:50, 70:30? (2) whose up for chipping in for a NEYMARS A FUD banner for the PSG game. Lustig should have banjoed him last year and walked off what a total tadger of a boy and (3) now that the Govan caravan is rolling and the dugs are barking in Airdrie I think we should have a poll to ban Onion Jack cause he's doing ma head in and negatively affecting my mental health and spiritual wellbeing. ☘️.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Managing a permanent deal for Roberts this summer? I'd say 99.9% that's not going to happen but maybe next year our chances will go up.}

28 Aug 2017 16:52:37
I'll happily chip in for the Neymar banner JFP. Cheating wee twat.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 17:02:13
Love the neymar banner jfp, neymar is a banger would be nice too.

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 17:06:59
I'm not happy about the loan but grateful we are improving on the RW. Bit gutted it's Roberts himself not wanting the permanent deal but at least he wants to come home for a year just wish he would realise that coming here pernamently would be best for his career.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 17:15:16
Cheers VT and RT10. I'm cool with either 'Neymar est une Fud' or 'Neymar est une Banger' so they can read it in Paris. Both work for me brothers! 👍.

Agree3 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 17:01:15
Thanks Ed. Disappointing but unfortunately I would agree. It's still a massive bonus but it's like buying a car in one of these PCP deals you never own it. But heh ho he's still some talent that could prove invaluable in CL as I said plus KT gets the use of his bunk beds for another year. Cheers Ed.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That'll be 2 1/2 years Paddy will have spent up here and yeah we won't make any money out of him unless it's training compensation but he never cost us any real money and he'll have longer service than say Wanyama or Van Dijk. I'm not usually a fan of loan deals but like the Robbie Keane and Craig Bellamy ones I'm all for it.}

28 Aug 2017 18:18:46
2 and half years ed and he's contributed as much as anybody the time he's been with us.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 14:41:01
I know this is a long long shot guys but I was reading about the potential transfer of Mamadou sahko from Liverpool to Crystal Palace. Pool won't budge on the 30m and Palace don't want to pay it. He still has 3 years of contract so Pool could loan him for a year and still ask 30m next year. If the deal doesn't happen and with BR's contacts at Liverpool and him knowing the player, maybe he'd like to come to the greatness club in world for a year. HH.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

28 Aug 2017 16:46:34
I wish parkheeder think he's a crackin player. Would love to see him alongside big Simo.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 18:07:14
Can someone explain why Liverpool think he is worth 30 million

They paid what £18 million. He hasn't performed for them, failed a drugs test and they clearly don't rate him.

Surely after the above his value should be more 3 million regardless of whether he is a good player or not.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 18:46:58
He's a decent player but his attitude stinks.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 14:21:52
Can someone let Callum Mac Gregor he's not in the top 10 midfielders Scotland have, even with drop outs he's not getting a sniff . I'm an Eire fan so it doesn't bother me but if he's not good enough to get in the Scotland squad they must have some midfield.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

28 Aug 2017 15:31:39
When first division players are being picked over player that are regularly playing for the champions you see what a farce it is.

Agree3 Disagree1

28 Aug 2017 17:01:28
Nothing to do with Scotland having some midfield more to do with Scotland having some manager.

Agree1 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 18:20:18
Strachan IMO is an idiot.

He did the same with Griffiths and still picks Fletcher

McGinn, Morrison and a few other midfielders over McGregor is madness. I slated McGregor a few years back but he has improved so much that I actually get surprised when he is not in our starting 11

Whittaker - I've seen Hibs on TV and my god he is awful. Mind you the whole defence apart from KT and Robertson is pathetic. Surely we can consider a young group of defenders and have them get used to playing in the hope that they'll eventually become a solid unit.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 18:50:47
To be honest I can't wait until Scotland lose or draw on Friday and end qualification hopes then we can withdraw our players and see them concentrate on us.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 13:54:05
Guys when it comes to the CL games the PSG game it's not Naymar that scares me cause we know he's a diving cheating so and so it's the pending signing of Mbappe that boy is a whippet him and the boy fae Argentina who played wae Man U there the ones to watch out for.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

28 Aug 2017 14:24:58
I'd say a potential front 4 of Mbappe, Di Maria, Neymar and Cavani all need to watched out for lol.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Marco Verratti has become a wonderful player. I love watching him play but hopefully he has a stinker against us.}

28 Aug 2017 14:59:52
I thought he was injured Ed. You're not boosting my confidence!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Sorry Kev, he was red carded last weekend in PSG's 6-2 trouncing of Toulouse and was subsequently given a 3 match ban during the week so he'll be well rested for the CL opener :(

28 Aug 2017 15:06:13
The Paris and Bayern games are really daunting prospects when you see what they have done to other top teams in recent seasons, but our players and support will be well up for these games and hopefully we can attract a couple of quality players this week, who also fancy the glamour and incredible experience of Celtic Park on CL night?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The way the draw is structured I think we're always going to face at least 2 'top teams' and with a bit of luck we could sometimes nick second place but I'd be delighted with 3rd place every year when you see the spending power we're up against, it would be great if we could get into Pot 3 and have a chance of drawing a smaller opponent.
Last year I was more embarrassed by by the Lincoln Red Imps defeat than the Barca one, Barca are capable of doing that to teams a lot better than us and I don't see the point of getting upset over taking a beating from teams with multi-million £ players in every position - it's like us playing East Kilbride. We know the players will be well up for the CL and well prepared, we're overall a better team than we were last year and if we can get a decent partner for Simunovic along with Roberts and big Ntcham who looks made for the CL and a fit Dembele we'll be good to go.
BTW didn't Rodgers say the other day that he wasn't interested in players who would only join Celtic because of CL football?}

28 Aug 2017 18:52:07
Barca did similar to PSG ed last year in the last 16 or last 8.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 12:36:50
Might be asking silly question but I'm unsure so be nice. 😂. does a sell on clause only last for the initial deal the player signs with new club.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - Do you mean if he moves to another team or if he signs a new deal at his current club? VVD signed a new 6-year contract at Southampton last summer and that doesn't affect the sell-on clause, it's in the contract Celtic and Southampton have, not the players contract.
If he joins Arsenal or Chelsea this summer we get our cut but if they sell him to Madrid in 2 years we don't get a cut of that fee.}

28 Aug 2017 13:07:25
Sorry to be a dafty ED, but I still don't get it, why do we get a cut if he goes this summer but not in 2 years time? Is it to do with the length of the initial contract he signed?

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Sorry mate I didn't word that very well. I meant if Arsenal or Chelsea sold him on in 2 years time we'd not be entitled to any that money. It doesn't matter when VVD leaves Southampton as long as they receive more than £13 million we get 10% of their profit.
We had a similar clause for Wanyama but Southampton didn't make a profit on him so we didn't get any money. So even if Spurs sell Wanyama for £100 million we'd not be entitled to any money.
Does that make sense now?}

28 Aug 2017 13:34:09
Yes thank you ED. Your knowledge and wisdom is invaluable to simple men like me that follow this great club.
Surprised to hear Southampton didn't make a profit on big Victor. HH.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - You're welcome buddy and thanks for the high praise. Southampton bought Wanyama for £12.5 million and sold him to Spurs for £11 million mainly because he only had 12 months left on his deal at the Saints.}

28 Aug 2017 20:12:06
Don't we have a 15% clause in place? I read somewhere we would be in for £7.5 million if he signs for £50million.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 09:06:17
Transfer window looming and to be honest, I can only see another disappointing window for us.

Roberts loan deal, I'm sorry but as much as I think he is brilliant the money should be spent on permanent quality players

Ntcham has proved that there are really good players out there so come on Celtic get a centre half to compliment Jozo and get a permanent winger for the right side sorted asap

Ed! Any news on the Azmoun rumours of late.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - Azmoun only joined Rubin Kazan last month so I'd be surprised if he was sold again during this window.}

28 Aug 2017 12:20:08
I've never seen Azmoun play but apart from Internationals he doesn't seem very prolific. Is he a tall, skilful striker who's good at bringing others into the game? Like a Berbatov almost?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Aug 2017 10:01:25
Think BR needs to review how we play domestically. I would prefer 2 strikers but I understand 1 up front allows suits our style of play better.

However, when we line up with 5 in midfield, our problem is Brown and Ntcham sit far too deep and play along the same line. This allows our opposition the chance to sit off and mark Rogic and stop him getting the ball and creating chances. We only got success against St Johnstone when we put Armstrong and Rogic ahead of Brown in the second half.

We should also invest in a RB so we can create a more attacking threat down that side, working similar to KT. Ideal case, Paddy playing RW (who loves to cut inside) with a RB overl-aping and making the runs that KT does.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

28 Aug 2017 10:22:30
I think we've got much bigger needs than right back.

Agree3 Disagree1

28 Aug 2017 10:46:46
why review?, he has us unbeaten domestically.

Agree3 Disagree1

28 Aug 2017 10:52:20
Nc67 think u should let our qualified manager get on with it don't you lol review how we play domestic game are you having a fecking laugh? Abut of success and everyone's wants to rip into the team, board and manager! Come on tae f$ck!
Some of the posts going round are dripping for the sake of it. Everyone's a manager and tatical expert these days, and have an intimate knowledge of players contracts and budgets.

Think he knows how to win games up here well enough to be honest. Let's not get too carried away with a draw at home. Yes I think we need investment to push us on further but we have just come through a tough qualifying set of matches with a weakened squad and a lot of travelling and pressure. Personally I think we are playing the best attacking and enjoyable football I have seen at parkhead for a number of years . We had numerous chances to win the game on Saturday .
All I really want now is two or three more quality additions for the European push.

We haven't had two fit strikers for over a season, most weeks; so it's very unlikely we would have that luxury unless we bring another in - as the window closes?
However, I think the arrival of Roberts will add a lot more to the speed and variety of attacks, plus the front players are starting to find the form and consistency of performance that stood us in such good stead last term.
The biggest headache we have - in my opinion - is centre defence and goalkeeper when we face half decent teams.

The day you stop reveuwing us the day we start to slide backwards. We have done that's many times. You need to be constantly reviewing and looking at ways to improve.

We all know that we have weaknesses. Pretending we don't is nonsense and if not dealt with will cost us.

One of the reasons we dominate the possession so much is because the 5 in midfield. We scored goals from all over the park last season.
Why would we change That?

When paddy signs it will bring the whole forward line a boost, at the minute the opposition will double up on Sinclair as Forrest is inconsistent and Hayes hasn't had the impact he'd hope for. Once paddy comes in there is a genuine goal threat from both sides and opportunities created from both sides. That's not to take away from Forrest as he scored important goals in the qualifiers for us ( and not for the first time)

Firstly, nowhere in my post did I criticise BR. As a matter of fact, I think he is the best thing to happen to the club in a long time. He hasn’t put a foot wrong since coming here last May. I totally agree that BR knows best.

Yes, we are unbeaten domestically. But if we want to maintain that run, then it’s quite obvious that we need to tweak / change up our game-plan. Teams are obviously working out our strengths and studying how to stop us. So yes a review now and again is beneficial for the team. Anyone who thinks otherwise is daft. BR constantly reviews how we play and looks for improvement so why wouldn’t we as a support have an opinion on that.

Possession football is brilliant but we lack penetration middle to front sometimes. I just think at CP we should push two attacking midfielders ahead of Brown, as sometimes Brown and Ntcham are doing the same job and it looks very pedestrian knocking the ball side to side or back to defence.
