Elgin city fined £25,000 for cancelling the game against the others on Saturday. £5,000 of this is to be awarded to a charity of the rangers choice..... Is there really a bigger charity case than rangers itself? {Ed007's Note - That will be £5k in the RFFF then. Beggars can't be choosers.}

Believable4 Unbelievable3

I'm surprised they don't want the full amount, that should keep Slug McCoist in pasties for while.

Agree4 Disagree2

I hope Elgin ask for a receipt...... The tinkers are a bit desperate for budo

Agree5 Disagree2

Can they give it to the fighting fund cos thats where all their charity went to last year when they robbed them aswell

Agree3 Disagree2

Pretty unheard of fine for a 3rd division club like Elgin. £25000 means as much to their club as the tax bill owed by THE RANGERS (oldco, newco, sevco who knows?). Elgin have been tainted by the toxic hum that surrounds everything Sevco. But Hey ho, the blue bandwagon will roll into Elgin at a later date, and recompense them for their errors.
Or so their brown tongued chairman hopes so.

Agree5 Disagree6

This is a huge % of annual net profit for an amateur part time fourth division club cancelling a game with another 4th div club.
If two other 4th tier clubs cancelled a game would it be £25,000 or is it simply because its Rangers? The £5k to a Rangers charity is hugely dubious decision. If I were the Elgin board I'd be appealing this. £5-10k max to SFL should be appropriate. The game will be played as normal.

Agree7 Disagree3

Why are Elgin being forced to give money to charity? I have never heard of anything like it in my life. It seems that the sevconian unwashed have inherited the bullyboy tactics that they used over Scottish football for years.

Agree6 Disagree3

@5

They should have thought about it first instead of letting greed dictate. They were going to get a full ground anyway, but they also whacked the ticket prices up. Can only be described as major shot in the foot.

A post from The Rangers page that even I can answer in 10mins over my dinner:-

1) why did HMRC let CW not pay NI and PAYE for so long. They seem to have come down on Hearts immediately. ~ Eh you went into Adminstration on 14th Feb less than a year after his takeover. There would have been time and discussions going on in the background. Admin in a last resort.

2) why did they not accept Murrays offer of £10m when they,declared an amnesty on their web site and accepted £10m from Arsenal for a supposed bill of £300m. ~ You have no factual information relating to Arsenal and all that is ever said is ,Arsenal are one club that historically used EBTs to pay some players but they are understood to have resolved any issues with HMRC.. Rangers were uncooperative.

3) why did this take in total four years to reach a decision ~ Rangers already lost 2 other appeals

4) why after deliberating for 29 days, did that take 10 months plus. Most of us work five or six days a week ~ There was over 100 EBTs being examined

5) why was information released to the press and some web sites ~ This is the only issue David Murray has now to concern him. Why wait until now to be concerned?

6) why are they even considering an appeal when they are not going to get paid anyway, why are they wasting tax payers money ~ In the words of your very own Paul Murray 'You do have to accept HMRC have a statutory duty on behalf of the public purse to pursue what they regard as tax avoidance'

7) why did they spend £5m on the case, refuse £10m, on an original bill of £25m ~ They did not expect to lose and David Murray had very little confidence that he would eventually get this verdict

8) why did they refuse a CVA at 8p in the £, then accept 1p in the £ from Portsmouth. Don't tell me they don't accept deals from previous "sinners" as Portsmouth have been in admin three times, each time owing the tax man money ~ Not the same CRAP

9) why is it one rule for Rangers and one rule for everybody else ~ CRAP

10) they have now had five court cases for EBTs and have lost every one of them ~ CRAP

On a final note ~ All Scottish clubs indeed most British clubs limited their use of EBTs or took financial advice and avoided them altogether. Murray plunged in, funnelling tens of millions into the bank accounts of players and other staff and inevitably drawing the attention of HMRC. Murray did not acknowledge the risk to which he was subjecting the club nor did he seek any guidance from the SFA or SPL. The verdict was far from a foregone conclusion.

Murray offered £10m to settle during the investigation and did not have the confidence to take responsibility for any potential tax liabilities when he was trying to sell the club such was the evidence against him. If he had this confidence, the club would also not have landed in Whyte's hands but hey ho

ed 007 } this site is going right downhill . i see further down the page someone posted that bill mcmurdo has the iq of a turd . i object to this and feel that i must speak out for turds around the world . if mcmurdo was a turd he wouldn't have a clue how to get out of an arse . so i expect an apology from the op. turds are not as stupid or ugly as that c*** .. shamrock {Ed007's Note - This particular McMurdo did find a way out of an ar$ehole, he is the son of the agent, what chance did he ever have?}

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Like father like son. A pair of twisted bigoted clowns. You do get some laugh reading the garbage they spew out though.

ED007, Shamrock ah old Bill McMurdo, who painted his Larkhall (where else?) house red white and blue, outside he even painted the kerbstones and had a union jack on a flagpole. If memory serves me correctly, he also had a leading role in protesting at ASDA moving to Larkhall because there colours were Green and White. A truly well balanced man, he had a chip on each shoulder. Timalloy

So over in the dark side clarity eventually prevails. It has all been HMRC and the big tax case to blame with blame also to Craig Whyte and Lloyds bank.

SDM and the Board are all good honest guys and Ally is a legend and never put a foot wrong.

Just the little issue of the Board incorrectly registering players with SPL and SFA and non disclosure of important financial arrangements to resolve.

Believable12 Unbelievable4

They also have to put up some kind of futile gesture (not jester) to it being declared a new club altogether and the name change, brand change, badges change, colours changed.
INEVITABLE. IT'S THE LAW.

Agree8 Disagree2

Suppose the Board hopelessly burdening the club with massive debt such that the Bank was running the club. And the strategy of shouldering massive salaries and overheads which required CL group stage income to break even was clever.

Calling the guy an idiot makes you look like the small minded one here. Its a forum, people can post their views cant they? I agree, it wasnt a brutal attack. Shameful yes, not brutal. {Ed007's Note - People can post their views on here. But sorry, if you need to pretend to support another team to make a point then you are an idiot. I know Rangers fans have took to supporting The Rangers now, but if they want CFC as their big team that's fine, just don't try and lie about. The idiot said he was a The Rangers fan that was at the CFC game on Saturday, what does that tell you. I only edit the posts I can't control the moronic level of posters.}

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Well said Ed. I think you're bang on about some sevconians taking to following the CHAMPIONS. they have became obsessed with everything we do, maybe we are their big team lmao.Maybe they are realising that their kids and grandkids will be Hoops fans!!

Agree7 Disagree2

Rangers fans do seem obsessed with all things Celtic. I remember the way they went all "Gok Wan" about wee Lennons clobber and looks. Now they need to obsess over how good we are as the champions. Flying the flag at home and abroad with our usual dignity and class,all the while protecting the sporting integrity of the Scottish game.

It's been a great year to be a Tim, onwards and upwards for next year.7

ED do you think that miku should wear the number 7 shirt as he has been terrible for us {Ed007's Note - A player's shirt number has no bearing on his ability or his performances.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I agree about shirt number being irrelevant, but it is significant to the club and since Jinky (on his shorts), there have been a good few number 7's including Johnny Doyle, Davie Provan, Joe Miller, Paulo Di Canio and of course Henrik Larsson among others.
The difference with Miku is, he is not a regular or established player and I think that's why the 'jersey' is an issue by supporters?

Jungle Jim {Ed007's Note - It's happened before JJ, for every Henrik there is a Henri Camara or Ljungberg. If the number was really that important then why give it to a player on loan who has almost no chance of being here next season? Out of interest it was also Michael Owen's number at Man Utd, you wouldn't put him in the same bracket as Best, Robson, Cantona, Beckham or Ronaldo, would you?

Agree0 Disagree0

I could be wrong but was provan not no. 11.. shamrock

Agree0 Disagree2

Definitely No.7
Liah Smit

Agree1 Disagree0

You can pick any number and list great celtic players to wear it some far better than the ones who had no 7 apart from larrson ,jinky and pos provan how many would get in the greatest ever celts ... dalglish but he also wore other numbers ...players like keane was purely commercial

Agree0 Disagree1

According to you Doyle and Proven played in the same shirt?

Has anyone seen the report in the DR regarding the journo who travelled to Elgin from Japan to report on the sevco 3rd division match.
Apparently after traveling 6000 miles he was only informed it was cancelled whilst on the train to the match.
Heapparently writes for Footballista
Tried their site and he is not mentioned as a journo(please correct me if i am wrong)
Is Cucko Green trying to hood wink the gullable

Believable2 Unbelievable4

He works in a sushi bar in Edinburgh.
Two years ago he pretended to be a lone Japanese soldier left to guard a pacific island and never knew WWII was over.
There's some old shame using the same mentality about oldco.

In
Juan Agudelo, Rusell 3.8 mil total

Out
Wanyama , hooper 23 -25 mil

And this little slump in form stop blaming nights in Europe it's the fact the players are not turning up and just thinking they should win cause we are celtic

And just to prove a point

If some one is tired at there job and mess up again and again let's say a bin man he helps do a job for us all and gets paid £9-£10 an hour but works every day a footballer who trains and treated like a king never mind paid a£100 ph can't complain just get a grib and do your job lol

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Wanyama and hooper 23-25 million... seriously? ooooh and yes i am a Rangers fan but be realistic.

BigBear

Agree10 Disagree5

1 year playing in scotland makes him worth 12m(wanyama)mabye 3-4m and hooper maybe 4-5m tops.Stop buzzin the glue ya nutcase.jmgers

Agree2 Disagree6

Is that how many 'tops' they've sold worldwide?

the pea

Agree1 Disagree1

20-22 million for the pair in my opinion. If Wanyama extends his contract Celtic can get top dollar for him which would be in the region of 15-16 million or without the extension, he still has another 2 seasons after this one so 10-13 million. Gary Hooper as it stands is worth 4-5 million but again if he hits his top form and maybe gets the nod in a friendly for England you could be talking nearer 6-7.5 million for him. But really there is no point arguing over it as players can get bad injuries or fall out with clubs, lose form and confidence etc. We can only guess really. Of the 2 though Wanyama is in my opinion the best young player i have seen at Celtic. He has everything a modern day footballer needs to succeed at the top of the game. A monster of a boy physically,he almost never wastes a ball, colossal in the air. Its frightening how many times he wins back possession in the middle of the park. He has skill, he's 2 footed and is a genuine goal threat. Good scoring record for a defensive minded midfielder and comes close once or twice every game. He was sublime against Barcelona and has been in all our European games except HJK Helsinki away from home when he let himself down with the red card. If Wanyama was playing anywhere else they would be demanding 20 + million for him.

Agree3 Disagree3

You deady bears aren't very good with figures are those estimates before or after tax ? By the way big Vic is worth more than the new manky mob lock stock & barrell. AbS 1888

Agree4 Disagree2

I would take £5-6 million for Hooper and start the bidding for Big Vic at £10m. I think that some of the other biggest clubs in the world will be looking at him. He should be careful where he goes, you don't get much bigger than Celtic, it's only down to money.

Agree3 Disagree2

5-6million for hooper... yeah a could see that but 15-16 million for wanyama ???? get real he is a good player but not worth that... Santi Cazorla cost 15 million and he is at least twice the player wanyama is.

BigBear

Agree2 Disagree5

Why don't you Bears stick to worrying about your own delapadeted team rather than worry about how much our players are worth.

Man Utd were interested in bidding £12m for Wanyama and Southampton were offering £7m for Hooper. So thats £19m before they were in the Champions League group stages. Now that they have shown they can compete in Europe's elite competition there values will have risen.

DazzaBhoy

Agree3 Disagree1

If Zaha is rated at £20m why is £15m for big Vic unrealistic? The bhoy has been superb in the Champions League where as Zaha has been good in the championship.....wheres your logic?

Mikey Bhoy {Ed007's Note - Zaha isn't all that Mikey, Tom Ince is a far better player. Zaha is like Gareth Bale, without their pace they would be average.}

Agree0 Disagree1

18-20 ? million Henderson to Liverpool,15 million for Joe allen. Imo between 15-20 million & that again imo is a bargain for victor, i think all of europe's big spending clubs will be interested. AbS 1888

Agree0 Disagree2

Because wanyama has played average in europe he is now worth 15-20 million? get a grip he plays in the spl where he plays against average competition. Lucky to get 6 - 7 million for him.... To the poster that said there was talks of man utd bidding 12 mill, there was also talks of 12 million for shagger from arsenal and 15 million for kayal and 10 million plus for izaguirre and so on and look what happened there.

BigBear

Agree2 Disagree3

Yeah ed, think Ince is far better, also more consistent. Just using Zaha as an example of the ridiculous valuations of players who show any sign of promise down there
