I sent a post into the site about 2pm and I don't see it put up, it was regarding the negativity. Was it deemed unsuitable?

Hi Ed just wondering if i'm one of the posters you banned? Say this as some recent banter replies have not been posted. I really hope you stay on because i doubt if anyone as dedicated as yourself could be found to substitute you. May not always agree with you but i definitely respect you and your opinion. I hope todays frustration finishes soon and you get some serenity.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - If you were banned this wouldn't have reached me mate so no. It's fine to disagree with me btw as long as it's kept civil and regular posters like you get a lot of leeway as I really don't want to fall out with any of them, it's just us showing passion for the Club. It's all the wee angry mutants that create numerous accounts just to give me abuse because they don't have the intelligence to argue with me.
I've just seen your last post, I didn't put it up for the simple reason that if you knew me - or had been on the live chat - you would know I don't need told anything about that particular subject if you follow me. Congratulation btw, keep on keeping on. 🙏

First time I have ever posted on this Lennon might turn out to be the best thing since sliced bread, I don't think so, goods team generally mirror their manager and Lennon is flakey not mentally able to be the spearhead of an organization the size of Celtic, he loves Celtic but so do I that isn't enough, he has proven that he is not going to be a top class coach as he just doesn't have it I'm sorry for people who like this appointment but no Lawell has really screwed us over and I'm a bit shocked that Desmond hasn't jumped in with such an important appointment as he has done when hiring O'Neil and Rodgers, I mean seriously talking about Lustig and Brown as mainstays in your team should be enough for the hierarchy to have alarm bells ringing, I have followed Celtic for all my life and was there when Sevco or sorry they where called Rangers then won 9 in a row and know that this was our time we don't have to go into debt with the money in the bank we have to finally rub the it nose in it and really can't understand this, might be wrong but honestly think we have blew it, Love the Hoops forever Hail Hail 🍀.

I think Brown has to be given a father figure role, on the subs bench, and Lustig has to be let go
, maybe it's s mistake all managers make, holding onto players well past it, some sort of emotional attachment like Stockholm syndrome, England were guilty of it with Beckham, WGS got himself fired because of picking players who had been loyal but we're holding back the Scotland team, Celtic played much better football when Brown was out injured, and McGregor was playing his role, when he came back they went back to the slow build up, and struggled in games, but then Brown would thrash in a few goals and instead of being recognised as the problem he was seen as the saviour, on Saturday, after Hearts scored, Browns run into the box sparked a bit of life into a turgid Celtic performance, and once again he was lauded, but if he had been sitting on the bench and young Henderson had been playing, maybe Celtic would have been running riot, like I said about Beckham, in one of his last games, late on he put in a lovely cross and England scored from it, and much praise he got, but in the sixty minutes before he had wasted about seven crosses with his teammates waiting in the box, don't get me wrong, I am a big fan of Brown, but his time as a first team regular is finished, it's not that other teams have sussed how we play, they have sussed how to play against Browns less incisive slower play.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2019 00:40:55
I agree both will need phased out eventually but for here and now they are more than capable domestically,
Europe is another case. .
I think in Christie, McGregor and Ntcham we have plenty to step in for Brown through the course of the season.
I have no idea who we would look at for right back. Does Ralston deserve a run in the team or does the fact Toljan (who is mince) got game time ahead of him suggest he's not to the required standards?

Agree0 Disagree0

29 May 2019 00:25:52
Aindoh., fair comment but you kinda criticise yourself when you say young Henderson may .
By saying that you are also creating the idea he may not .
In a cup final good managers don't run the risks by playing players who may or may not do the job, if they have a reliable player who is always likely to do job .
By all means give Henderson plenty of opportunities to play.

Lennon was by no means my first choice, far from it. But I think there’s been a major negative over reaction to his appointment.

He was brought in to deliver the treble, and he’s done it. Yes the League was pretty much wrapped up, but the cup wasn’t and the ties we got in that were far from easy.

Obviously the performances haven’t been up to scratch, but I’m hoping with the summer to bring in his own players and have implement his own style we’ll see an improvement. He’s also had it tough injury wise since he came in, and has had next to no use out of KT and Christie, and none out of Griffiths.

Do I wish we’s got someone else? Of course. But I still think we are in capable hands as we head towards the 10.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

28 May 2019 12:58:03
Didn't he do that at Hibs? They was terrible most games and only picked their game up when playing us or Sevco.

27 May 2019 21:34:12
Got to say im not too pleased with lennon as manager but we must get on with it . im more dissapointed with lennon saying he doesn't need to change his backroom staff . sevco wouldn't have improved if it wasnt for their backroom coaches as gerrard knows heehaw . for me we need better coaches to help lennon to improve as a manager and help our players improve . shouting only gets a manager so far . can i see this happen . well lennon said it himself so im worried that this appointment will end in dissaster but hope im wrong as its such a good time to be a celt and we should be looking forward to next season instead of moaning with each other . on the bright side . if he does mess it up i can get my boy a season ticket next to mines when were going for 1 in a row

Kennedy is a great pick for Assistant Manager. Rather him than Gary Parker.

Agree1 Disagree1

27 May 2019 22:03:05
Why is Kennedy a good pick I mean our defense was really sorted out with his outstanding coaching expertise hosestly Lennon, Kennedy Rangers could put Greig back in charge and have good shout, worrying times.

Agree0 Disagree1

27 May 2019 23:08:53
Kennedy is not our defensive coach. And anyway, our defence has actually been pretty decent this season. Kennedy is highly thought of at Celtic.

COYBIG I can assure you first time ever posted on a celtic forum but have read them for years and followed celtic for over 40 years, Lennon reappointment has obviously triggered something inside me which isn't good, and I'm surprised that Desmond rubber stamped his appointment, it has got me thinking that maybe just maybe it's Lawell's ego kicking in with we can win titles with his prudence and not investment which we need, the comments about Lennon having an eye for a player, really, big clubs have a scouting dept and we currently have no one and a manager who got the bump from Hibs, I pray I'm wrong but looking at it logically I don't think I am, so negativity from a point of strength has only came into my and Loads of others thought process because of recent events,

27 May 2019 20:57:52
Ed, would just like to say I hope you stay. I have stepped back from the site a bit as I feel at times there's no point trying to argue with some on here. I don't remember Celtic making any other decision that divided fans so much. And for the people who say Lennon done alright the last time, we had half empty stadiums at times the football was such cross. Strachen took us into the last 16 of champions League but was booed off the pitch at Celtic park towards the end. Should he of been a contender as he done ok the last time? Would fans rejoice if O'Neill got the job? I've no doubt some would even with his record since leaving. I hope you stay ed, but definitely understand what why you are considering hanging up the perverbial boots.

I may have to consider looking into taking legal action for those having a go at my colour and vertical challenge attributes though.
Ed, I am prepared to settle out of court but it will mean you have to stay on a wee while longer.

28 May 2019 11:58:41
Fair enough Benny but you have to give him a chance. The first period of NL reign was early in his managerial career. As I’ve said before let’s give him a chance and see what happens, all this doom and gloom and we’ve just won a Treble Treble. NL has learned and he talks very well please just enjoy the success we are experiencing and let custodians of our Club make the decisions that will make or break 10 in a Row. I reckon we will be fine with a few ups and downs but that is why we all love our Club and nothing anyone does will ever change that, we all survived the EBT years. Hail Hail 🇮🇪🍀🇮🇪.

Tamtimtic. My issue is that there's absolutely no chance any other manager that had got sacked by Bolton and Hibs would ever be considered for the Celtic job. I'll back the team as I always do but anyone who thinks this appointment was on merit are delusional.

{Ed007's Note - Hibs were 8th in the league with 7 wins from 22 games when Lennon wasn't sacked and didn't resign.}

Style of play : As per a s few earlier post:
It would seem that the team still have the BR mindset in passing. and as some have said, teams flood the midfield and we get overran, it happened too many times and twice vs Huns. We really do need to change our style again. Go back to attacking football combined with horses for courses.

I’m sure we will spend a few £££ but we get rid of a few that’s needs offloading.
We were all looking for a big “Name “ new manager to come in, but we have Lenny so let’s all

Not all Celtic supporters are on her BTW.
THE CHEERS around paradise was defending for Lenny and his cup lift was very emotional.
Rodgers style of play was flat before he left. Ed don't be pissed at me but the sevco game I don't care they won nothing got nothing. They are no better this time. We where poor and been poor before lennon. As for Lenny a lot on here are happy with it few are not can't please ye all. It's great to be Celtic fan long may it continue.
Don't think sevco improved we got worse.
They are raving about there new player we are raving about men who know how to win what it means. men who have shown in the big important games stood up and why they are worth there wages.
Every Celtic player has been savage on here at some time it's a huge list let's get rid of the dead wood who can't cut it and get 3/ 4 now lads in who know how to win including the new lads we have been getting all year.

So I just watched highlights of the cup final again and what I noticed is the part Lustig played in our winner. he burst a gut to get to the ball before the hearts player and headed it powerfully into space for French Eddy to run onto. Lustig is another one who gets stick from our fans but he has played a big part in our success.
Also Eduard as well, some fans moan about him, but he has stepped up big time this season also. We have him on a another 4 year contract and he will only improve and be our next big money transfer in a year's time. With French Eddy also I think next season he will revert to his more favoured wide position if Griffiths and Bayo (hopefully) are good enough and fit enough to play through the middle.

27 May 2019 20:27:22
Well said Tim.

For me French Eddy is a striker, just need the right partner up top.

27 May 2019 20:52:13
Absolutely love lustig Tim and want him about for the ten but at what cost? he's Finnish (ed)

Agree0 Disagree0

27 May 2019 21:04:28
I think lustig deserves another year even if another eb comes in andtakes his place next season, 60 odd games to to negotiate I'm sure he'll be valuable player.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 May 2019 21:51:54
Lustig doesn't deserve another year because he has been done for 2 years now, this is why Lennon should never have got the job because he most likely will get a new deal🙈.

Agree1 Disagree1

27 May 2019 22:12:14
Seriously putting Lustig's clearance to be a defence splitting pass now next Brown could mature a Pirlo like midfielder, the team is falling apart and it's wind up merchant like these to which are holding us back, Brown and Lustig have been good servants but Lustig is finished, Brown could still play in midfield but not as the deep lying playmaker.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - McGregor should be the main playmaker with Christie doing the box to box job imo but that does pose the question of where Brown plays. Maybe a 3 man midfield with Brown just sitting in front of the defence like a sweeper role - but does he have the legs for that - with McGregor and Christie in front of him but that then limits the attacking options and I'm not a fan of the 4-3-3.}

27 May 2019 22:41:03
Agreed Ed
Been saying this for a while browns slows the play he's a crab as well. Put him right back. Calmac take his role this was done under Judas it worked perfect.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - When Brown was injured we played some of the best football we had in the previous 18 months, he can still do us a good job out there but it's what that job is. He was never the type of player that sat and pulled the strings so I don't understand why he's got that role, it all came about when his legs went to the extent that he couldn't do the box to box job. With both Brown and Rogic in their current roles our central midfield area is very weak in the creativity department wand there's a distinct lack of any kind of urgency unless it's through McGregor.}

27 May 2019 22:48:55
Yes and no, Christie has exceeding my expectations this year but I don't see him getting much better and I'm sorry Ed to me he is a Celtic squad player and the the more people tell McGregor he is a good player the more he goes backwards, but I do agree a neat and tidy player who can take or give a pass like McGregor is going to make the the team tick over nicely but also think we should be aiming for higher or at least have a midfield of that can all do the basics and some, where as Brown just trys to wind players up when should be concentrating on doing his job, not been to harsh on him here good servant, ball winner, engine but passing was never his thing.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I do think Christie is more than capable of doing a job domestically but higher than that mmmm maybe in years to come. Brown does sometimes seem to be turning into a caricature of himself at times and he really should know better.}

27 May 2019 22:58:44
Now your talking Ed totally agree with you. let's let the dust settle for the next few weeks. We did look gd, then brown came back and it slowed down again. Was thinking that left back max low maybe would be a gd shout. I know Forrest turned him over but there are not many forests out there.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The thing with the LB situation is that anyone coming in is only going to be KT's understudy and these days players are more and more concerned about getting game time than their bank balance.}

29 May 2019 00:32:33
We should have produced the understudy for K T either from within our own ranks or else we should have bought a youngster a couple of seasons ago. As soon as K T hit the first team it was evident he was good and we needed to get back-up.

'Once again it's the fans who suffer' Ed? Like we've been suffering for eight titles in a row and nine trophies in a row?! Seriously?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed007's Note - Seriously? You're that much of a moron you've even tried to quote me and still ballsed it up 😂😂 I can see I'm dealing with a sharp mind here so I best be careful. What I actually wrote was:

"It's baffling incompetency mate and once again it'll be the fans that suffer."

I shortened 'it will' down to the informal 'it'll' (it's called a contraction but you'll learn that when you get to the big school) so let's see if you can work it out all by yourself like a big boy. Here's a hint because you seem a bit hard of thinking - things can happen in the future that have also happened in the past....
For a bonus wee smiley face can you tell me how many contractions were used in this post?}

27 May 2019 19:48:48
I did change your impersonal ‘that’ to who and there is an implied future in ‘suffer’!

Spilt Milk - another example of Lawell/ Board incompetence and complacency. The guy was there for the taking and we fecked it up.
McGinn wasn't for hanging about and we were too hesitant/ stubborn.
Last summer's transfer window was probably the catalyst in the last manager leaving and the next transfer window will probably disappoint more than impress and excite - just because they can.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 May 2019 18:45:53
It's only my opinion, don't ban me ed😂
But when people talk of Lennon's style of play and are not looking forward to it I have to say I was totally sick of watching BR style.
The back passing and lack of forward passing was so frustrating and I wasn't turning up at CP with much hope of watching a good attacking performance.
Time will tell if it's going to work out or not.
But we will loose a a cup game sooner or later. we will loose leaguegames.
We lost games under BR.
AVB is going to France. (never going to happen)
Rafa, Newcastle takeover (never going to happen)
Steve Clark (sectarianism never going to happen)
An unknown manager from abroad.?
I don't think many managers working in the EPL or the championship would give it up to come to Scotland.
For me it was between Lennon and Moyes.
I think we picked the right one.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

27 May 2019 19:17:09
First of all, the unfair chore of CL qualifiers. If we don’t qualify then what .? Bad start to the season! It’s going to be a huge call. Paul Lambert? . Since NL came back imo the only game we played well was the Aberdeen away game. Total trash at Ibrox. Just can’t see it .

Agree1 Disagree0

27 May 2019 19:44:00
I remember when the last manager took over and he stated the players and supporters would have to learn to get used to the passing from the back and possession retention style and at first we did pass teams off the park and create openings and chances.
However after the invincible season most opponents adjusted to counter this style, flooding the midfield, high press and defending in depth. Opposition teams stifled us as they perfected that style of 'play', while we failed to work on a plan B and our slick passing, directness and pace has all-but faded away.
Worst of all IMO is the utter waste of dead-ball situations every game where we always earn plenty corners/ free kicks and convert virtually zero into goals and that is very unlike a Celtic side.
It will take another re-education and a freshening up in key areas to overcome these problems and although I find it ridiculous that a club of our size and ability are so lacking in dead-ball goals, it will take a better coach than NL to improve plan B or even C.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 May 2019 20:30:08
Once a Bhoy. Griffiths was missing for half a season and took nearly all the free kicks and corners on the right side. Nobody replaced him. Sinclair takes the left side corners but Lennon hasn't played him very much.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 May 2019 23:39:18
sjaldad; Celtic are jam packed with International players and it's absurd that most of them can't/ won't take a corner or free kick of any quality to create goal scoring chances.
These are basic skills from schoolboy football and should be at least practiced to a fine art at training and practice sessions.
Relying on the two players you mentioned - one who missed so much of the season - is even more disappointing and lacking foresight.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2019 11:54:48
Have to agree with you jungle John with regards to the way we were playing at the end of BR times. Lots of possession but going sideways. And definitely some of the managers listed were pie in the sky. Saw today AVB is getting 7.2 million to manager in france. let's just hope that lawell backs Lennon from the start.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 May 2019 17:52:10
Ed, how's things yir no sounding a happy man. I find it really hard to believe that Celtic didn't even speak to another candidate. I'd rather believe somebody knocked us back than believe there was nobody else approached. What do you think?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed007's Note - There will have been an approach to Clarke who was always going to say no and I think Moyes was sounded out in case Lennon had failed to land the Treble.}

27 May 2019 18:09:20
It’s certainly left us all a bit flat Ed hard not to see it as a big come down from 15,000 being there to welcome the wee suntanned fella. That was on the back of our cup defeat to the Govanites surely Dermot Desmond and Peter Lawwell knew that’s what was required to put a marker down again particularly as they’ve closed the gap and improved considering since then. Strange one. I think Clarke would have done a job he can definitely set a team up not to lose which is more than can be said for Rodgers.

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed007's Note - Well if Desmond and Lawwell did know what was required they must have forgotten it. If Lennon had still been at Hibs - who were sitting 8th in the league before he definitely wasn't sacked or definitely didn't resign, honest - would he even have been considered?}

27 May 2019 18:49:39
Got my cynical hat on again but I don't suppose it's possible that Lawwell had a word with Lennon to leave Hibs cos he knew Rodgers was going to quit?

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - Maybe Florian Kamberi went behind a building and pulled his face off Scooby Doo style and it was Lawwell all along..... and he'll get away with it if it isn't for us pesky fans.}

27 May 2019 20:32:55
Ed, i'm pretty certain that Lennon was tipped off about Rodgers going and stirred it at Hibs, to be asked to leave.

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - So he didn't even have the balls to tell Hibs the truth, isn't that just being as much a snake as Rodgers was if not worse? I'll guarantee you this, nobody will try and take Lennon from Celtic.}

Biscuit tin get with the times.
We started last season renewing contracts buying players preparing for what is ahead.
If those new players we bought who went out on loan live up to the hype then we have another two gd ones. Bayo looks gd on the yoo-hoo tube especially with his head. Few injured players will be back. Yes we need a few creative players a defender imo a poacher / type predator. I always felt we lost out on mcginn, today proved that he seems to have it all.
I'm looking forward to next season as I feel especially this time we are peaking and now a break injured players coming back I think the timing is gd. I think we are stronger and have youth.

I think you are one of the very few that is looking forward to next season. Lenny never had a clue at all how to play against a team playing 5/ 6 in midfield Farts done it Rankers done it (we lost that game incase you never seen it) and all we done was to swap the winger around If we didn't get the penalty I don't think we would have won that game against the Farts He is tactically naive IMO and can't see us getting too 9iar.

The way I see it ( like it or not) Lennon has now been given the job to bring 9/ 10 in a row. We can all be delighted or pissed off with the boards decision but it won’t change anything. What we need to do now is come together as one, last thing we want is Lennon and the team failing just so people can say “ we told u so”. the most important thing for me now is we act fast getting our targets in for key areas and that the board back Lennon to the hilt. Lennon is more than capable of putting a winning side on the park and delivering success over the next few years.

Agree3 Disagree0

27 May 2019 16:14:39
Ed you've made it very clear that your no fan of Lennon. If it was up to you, who would your choice be? Realistically of course. I know you wanted Bielsa but think you also said that was never going to happen.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed007's Note - Phillip Cocu is available, so is AVB & Claudio Ranieri, they might not have been interested but we should have been finding out for definite. Even Moyes would have been a better appointment for the continuation of the high professional standards and youth development. As we know from experience Lennon's football won't be any better to watch than Moyes' would.
I kept saying that I would love to have seen a list of applicants or who had shown interest in taking over - now we find out Lawwell never even looked at it. Is that a CEO doing his job properly and doing what's best for the Club?
When, not if, this all goes Pete Tong Lawwell should lose his job over this.}

27 May 2019 16:52:41
Its pure negligence IMO that he never looked at the names or interviewed any one for the job Stinks of biscuit tin mentality And it wouldn't surprise me if we had a big clear out and only brought in 2 new payers costing in total 5 million pounds Calls himself a supporter looks like the only thing he supports is the bank balance see how much he can have in it.

{Ed007's Note - The £9 million we got from Leicester for Rodgers will be the 'transfer warchest' 😂

{Ed007's Note - It came from Lawwell's own lips:

"We had approaches from many, many agents, many representatives of managers across the board. How credible it was, you never really know. We put them in the file, just left it and kept our word to Neil, really."

27 May 2019 16:07:01
So most Sevco fans are delighted we have Lennon as new manager but here is the question; what fills them with optimism for next season?

A few reasons why I think we will win the league next year.

1. Our squad is superior in every department.
2. Lennon is a better and more experienced manager than Gerrard.
3. They are more likely than not to lose their 2 best players Kent and Morelos.
4. Their signings so far are Jones, Davis, Hastie and Stewart - this hardly strikes fear into you does it?
5. Their squad is overloaded and ageing, they will probably need to sell before they buy
6. We have money in the bank and can spend if we want to. They will be risking admin to try and match us.
7. We are continuing to bring through youth players.

I do agree with Lennon. I think it is the end of the cycle for a few. I'd imagine Gordon, De Vries, Gamboa, Izzy, Bitton, Hendry, Eboue, Griffiths and maybe Rogic will be on the way out. We know Boyata and Allan have already signed contracts elsewhere.

If we invest prudently we should be fine domestically. Maybe not as confident of another treble but you wouldn't rule it out.

27 May 2019 16:38:21
Well done Buster, I totally agree with you mate.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 May 2019 20:04:45
Buster 88 agree with most of what you said, I will reserve my judgement of Lennon until we see what goes on in the new season. We all know the board took the easy option to appoint Lennon and he got us through a difficult period. Surely it was the time again to appoint another manager with fresh ideas. Ed has mentioned Philip Cocu who would have been a better choice and he did a great job at PSV and had them playing good flowing football. let's hope we get rid of a lot of the deadwood at the club and let's invest in 4 or 5 quality players that can go straight into the first team. No more project plsyers we have enough young emerging talent to compliment the first team.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 May 2019 20:15:08
Problem with your post is Buster.

Once all the players leave that are at the end of there contracts or on loan, it leaves us with a very poor squad in most departments especially if and when injuries kick in.

I'm not saying Gerrard is a better manager but Lennon isn't as good as a lot of people think and we know we have money and you named a few players that you think might be leaving but if anyone thinks we will spend it now that Lennon has taken over then they need there head examined.

Going by reports about Lennon already giving players time off and fallen out with the Sports Science staff, by christmas all our players will be overweight, unfit and will be running on empty by the 60 minute.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 May 2019 14:17:50
With everyone back fit our starting XI is still by far the best in the league;

Bain
Lustig, Ajer, Jozo, KT
Brown, Calmac
Forrest, Christie, Edouard
Griffiths

Signing priorities for me;
1. Right Back
2. Defensive cover (2)
3. Attacking cover (1)
4. New Keeper (to challenge Bain, not necessarily #1)
5. Midfield cover (1)

I'd hardly call that major surgery required. Obviously would love it if one or two of these were a marquee signing but as long as they enhance the team/ squad I'll be happy.

Last comment on NL as I've not posted since the weekend. The candidates for the managers job were Lennon, Clarke and Moyes. We got the best of these without doubt. Anyone who thought we had a shot at Benitez/ Mourinho needs their head examined. I'd have been disappointed with Moyes but would have got behind him 100%, everyone has to do the same with Lennon now, no dissension.

27 May 2019 15:12:29
Why play our best striker out of position?

Agree1 Disagree4

27 May 2019 15:51:06
It's maybe not as cut and dried as that re: 'our best 11'.
Maybe KT's injury is that serious he may need months of recovery?
Lustig did make a good recovery after a poor first half of the season, but there is still question marks over his fitness/ pace.
Jozo isn't risked on plastic pitches or two games in a week.
Griff may never return to previous heights, or God forbid have a relapse - probably never see the 40 goals season again?
Crazy money bids may come in for top players such as Ajer, KT, Forrest etc - especially from the Leicester area?
Bain showed a wee bit cause for concern in his last three games and although he has done very well, we do need top competition? Finally, there has been a shortage of pace and creativity for most of the last 2 terms against packed midfield or all-out-defense and it's an area we really need to address and look at options.
We do have the best first team squad in Scotland, but it's been a while since they were all on top form and fitness at same time.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 May 2019 16:03:30
His best position is wide left I think Kev.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 May 2019 16:42:48
I'd like to see Griffiths with edouard coming in off the left, could strike up a hopper-stokes type scenario which worked for a while.

With bayo as back up and maybe 1 more striker.

The rest of the positions needed are clearly defence based.

Still half scunnered by the appointment but also half amused of the thought of lennon lifting the 9 and 10.

I know more than a handful of people that would be most offended.

Wont be any more trebles though, not for a long time.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 May 2019 18:16:39

28 May 2019 13:20:40
Eddy and Bayo up front most games next season for me. A bit like the Dembele/ Eddy experiment in pre season. Obviously 1 up top when we play the bigger teams but don't see the point in 2 holding midfielders when the lesser teams look to park the bus for 90min.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I think Bayo might be another dud. Apparently a lot of people who watched him in training were surprised at how poor he is. He only came here so Toure could mentor him so hopefully Leicester want him for the same reason and we can pull their pants down over the fee 😁

27 May 2019 13:01:12
The announcement of Lennon's new job is a bit amateurish. Normally such statements happen after a contract has been offered and accepted by both parties with the fine details agreed. As I said before Lenny is not my choice but I'll support him anyway, it's up to the Board to show their intent now with recruitment but I won't hold my breath. HH.

27 May 2019 21:08:57
We like to think Celtic are different and we like to think there is such a thing as the Celtic family . Having checked who was available the Board thought that one of our own was best . So that is why Board is confident that Lennon and them can trust each other to agree budgets etc . Board has some money now and Lennon trusts they will spend some the way he wants.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2019 11:52:10
Kev, I hope Lennon realises that and makes them pay up for players. Having said that though, the fact that Lennon has supposedly been scouting players could suggest that a deal was already done a while ago and for whatever reason they chose to keep it quiet until Saturday. HH.

Think about it logically.

We have a team who have just won a treble treble, which is something that has never been achieved before.

Yes our team needs strengthened to stay ahead of the other teams but Lawwell is right when he says we don't need major rebuilding as there are plenty of players at the club who still have a lot to offer and plenty who can still improve further.

On the most part we have a young squad and there are not many who are 30+.

If we buy 6 or 8 new first team players we might as well hand over the 3 trophies at the start of the season for no manager could manage so many changes in personnel.
We have many quality youth and young players who must be given more responsibility or else they will lose their momentum . Three or four new quality players for the key positions would be ideal if we can get them .
When, the great manager, in many people's minds, B R bought in about six players most of them were not fit to wear a Celtic top. I would much prefer N L to buy quality rather than quantity .
I know the media will and are linking us with Tom, Dick and Harry from leagues all over Europe . Remember media are not our friends.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 May 2019 12:27:19
With the manager issue splitting the support, my thinking is that WE as a club must concentrate on 10iar. If that means not getting too far in europe or not winning another cup until its done, then I for one would be happy with that. Our mindset as a club for the near future has to be get the 10.

Try bringing a manager like Benitez in and telling him the focus is only the league for 2 years, anything else is a bonus. He would laugh allnthe way back to tyneside.
Lenny was not my first choice, but i think he is strong enough a choice to do the 10. Then we can concentrate on the rest and build for the future. Glasgow is green and white.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

27 May 2019 21:23:42
The manager is not splitting the support . The manager applied for job along with others, the Board decided N L was the right man at this time .
Us supporters have 2 choices, first one support NL whether we like him or not So that our club has best chance of continuous success . Second not support NL and team leaving them with no chance of winning anything, stopping club having success, surely none of us want that.

ED007 I read your comments yesterday about appointing Neil Lennon and how disillusioned you seem to be. It also goes without saying I hope you are still the Celtic editor come August.

I just wanted to put this to you and all our other posters.
I probably have a few years on most on here supporting Celtic and have seen it all. The Lisbon Lion years, 9 in a row, the Billy McNeil centenerary double year. Then the O, Neill years, wee Strachan and Lennon first time "bringing back the thunder" to modern day and our History makers. On the flip side I, as a on older Celtic fan, had to endure many many poor Celtic teams and even worse managers, Mowbray, Barnes, Macari etc which makes our current success so much sweeter. I have learned to enjoy and savour the moment of ultimate dominance and success of Celtic Football Club.
Now to put the defence for Lennon.
I too was doubtful of his appointment but since he came back he has won me over. Here is why.
He inherited a deflated team when Rodgers left but he picked them up and got them going again.
ED007, yourself and others have pointed to his training regime being poor, and saying Rodgers had them training 7 days a week whereas Lennon has given players time off. I think you are forgetting most of these players have played 3 long long seasons with international matches thrown in and long european journeys in different time zones to contend with, allied to our horrendous injury list this season.
Lennon HAD to give players extra days off simply to rest and recuperate.
Lennon has not tried to change too much as the goal was the Treble Treble, which he has now achieved. Also teams were beginning to suss out Rodgers tactics, especially playing it out from the back, be honest how many goals have we conceded BECAUSE of Rodgers tactics. Lennon has spoken of changing this next season, which I for one welcome.
I also have no qualms about the players diet issues as I have faith in our players being totally professional. Lennon realises this as well.
I am prepared to wait and judge Lennon on his signings and his style of football next season. I am confident we will see a more attacking team domestically with 2 upfront, and less flaffing about at the back and adapted for europe.
We are ALL CELTIC hail hail.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

{Ed007's Note - Players get what's called recovery days where they report to the sports science department and do gentle light exercise and their personal program to keep in peak condition, that doesn't mean days off to go on the pish in Dublin.
Lennon's has came in and changed the training & sports science regime, he's changed the formation to 4-3-3, he's blamed the fans and players for HIS mistakes and he was only here as caretaker, we'll be back to James Forrest not being able to play 4 games in a row and Rogic blowing out his @rse after 60 mins before we're out the CL.
I have no doubt Lennon will change things next season, I also have no doubt it will be for the worse and his wee fanboys will still back him because 'he's one of our own'.
I'm just hoping he's given up threatening young women with knives.}

27 May 2019 13:32:24

Wow, just Wow, that is some accusation to make ED007. I do not think a public forum like this is the place to air these things. I told you in an earlier post that my concerns with Lennon were that he was a very old fashioned coach with old fashioned ideas which perhaps were not compatible with modern attitudes, but this is taking it to a totally different level.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - It's not an accusation it's fact that was all over the papers at the time. Lennon threatened a 24-year old woman "that someone could put a knife to her throat" after she refused his £10,000 offer to keep quiet about his extra marital shenanigans.
Classy behaviour from a Celtic manager eh? And that's only the tip of the iceberg, I could list numerous incidents over the years including high court "super injunctions" (D-Notices) he's taken out to stop his scumbaggery becoming public knowledge.
Just imagine the faux outrage from the Celtic family if TRIFC had appointed a manager that had done that to a young woman?}

Unless you witness an event with your own eyes, i wouldn't go hanging on what you read as fact.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - If the story is false why did he apologise, why did he try through the courts and stop the story coming out instead of suing the abundance of newspapers that carried the story. He only managed to hold onto the Bolton job with the skin of his teeth after they held an investigation where he admitted it.
I can't believe there's Celtic supporters making excuses for someone threatening a woman, I mean the Celtic family are usually against things like the abuse of women, strange 😏 I'm sure I've heard plenty of them chastise Gazza over the years and more recently Jon Flanagan for their behaviour towards women.}

Not a fan Ed? It was a blow to me to watch the sneaky way Lawell announced Neil's appointment. We must have some kind of ex political PR officer with experience in when to bury bad news. Saying that, I always said that a new manager, whoever he is, should get a chance to shine. We can only hope that since he left Celtic last, he's gained more experience in keeping player's fit, interacting with them and keeping himself out the papers. Let's not beat around the bush here. Our 'impartial' media are hurting badly at the moment, even more so next year. There is going to be a Tsunami of guff printed and broadcast about our Club and it's employees. Celtic need to start getting tough with these hacks. A gentle warning first about their poisonous ramblings then a ban. Ban them from Celtic Park and Lennoxtown. And before you say that's sevco behaviour, so what? Sick of entertaining these hack journalists who make up any old rubbish to sell their rancid rags. Lennon, no way my first choice, in fact he's pretty low down my list but he deserves some time to show us what he can do.
Was sorry to hear you're pretty pissed off with the whole Rumours thing. Nobody but you and the other Ed's know what it's like to have to deal with a site like this which is growing all the time. I can imagine it's become a bit of a monster for you and if I understand things, you devote a huge amount of your personal time to the site with not much reward. I also understand that without the Ed's the site would soon get clogged with boring posts, aggressive posts and a constant back and forth between us and the Sevco Rumours page.
Hope you give it a good thought Ed and never forget that your personal health is the most important thing in the world. Hope you don't chuck it in Ed but if you've had enough, you've had enough. Just make sure you let us all know so we can give you the send off you deserve!

Got a few points I wanted to put out there.

1. Why did the board come out and announce Lennon's appointment on Saturday after the match? To me this took some of the shine off doing the treble treble. Surely they should have let the fans have a massive party and have them all talking about the treble treble, rather than have the fans split on the manager issue.

2. While Lennon was not my preferred choice, I can see why the board went for him. Hopefully the board back him in the transfer window and also make sure that we bring in progressive coaches to work under him, especially in the areas that are not Neil's forte.

3. It seems that our fans are split on whether or not our sqaud needs major surgery. I am off the opinion that we need to strengthen a few areas of the team but we don't need a massive clearout as some are suggesting.

27 May 2019 16:11:52

Its unfortunate as the support are definitely split. I am personally underwhelmed by Lenny's appointment but understand as a business he stepped up and maintained and got us over the line. To bring in someone new now would have had an element of risk no matter how you look at it from this aspect. As a supporter I again say I am underwhelmed we won a historic treble treble and I already feel flat sorry to say. However whilst not submitting any judgement now I am just going to see how it goes and hope Lenny manages to change my opinion that he is the right man for the job. I always remember the season we were 3 down at Kilmarnock and came back to draw 3-3. I also remember beating Barcelona but mostly remember some dire dire football. I was hoping for a modern coach who plays dynamic forward attacking football. We got Lenny to let's just see. I don't think the other teams in the league will be running scared and will know they have a chance against us even the tribute act. Time will tell so we will just need to wait and see. It doesn't just feel like we have won a historic treble treble but feel like we been sold a pup.

I think people are reading into the Lawwell headlines rather than reading what he actually said. He said it's been overestimated how many players we actually need to bring in, which I agree with. He also stated that we will not stand still and will strengthen. Lennon wasn't my choice at all but it's done and we need to hope he's properly backed in the summer. I would not read too much into anything! It would be interesting to know what percentage of fans actually go on the social media and voice opinions, does anyone know? Even if it's 25% (which I genuinely doubt) and 90% were against Lennons appointment that doesn't tell us anything at all because maybe the other 75% who don't use social media are all in favour of the appointment (I doubt this also but nothing can be proved) . I would also guess that the majority on social media are the younger fans who don't remember what it was like before Fergus came in etc etc.

{Ed007's Note - Remember before Fergus came in and we appointed managers simply because they were an ex-player or better still Irish? The more things change the more the stay the same eh?}

Real quick one Ed, could you please give me either a link or a key word to put in the search bar for that update you passed on from Ed002 on the landscape of European footy involving US and Chinese consortiums?

Quote from The Scotsman this morning from Peter Lawell "Lawwell does not believe the Celtic squad needs a major rebuild this summer" looks like the bad old days of the biscuit tin are coming back.

Lennon is just a puppet with Peter Lawwell's hand shoved up his arse.

Imo we need at least one new cb a rb a lb and another midfielder we have eddy griff and bayo we have plenty of wingers and we would need another keeper unless he promotes a young one tgats about 4 or 5 players needed.

The Scotsman is miss quoting what lawwell Said.

Definitely Kev, lawwell and co aren’t stupid as to know the squad needs big investment, they also know the support are divided over Lennons appointment so they will back him I’m sure.

Not inspiring choice but it what we've been given.

Squad wise there'll be plenty leaving, players we need imo.
CB (take benko back)
RB
ACM (competition for tam who's been rotten)
R/ LW (Roberts? Need to replace weah burke)
2 CFs (I'm not waiting for griff, he needs to win a place in the team n I think bayo can be filed under balde, bangura, scepovic, etc) . Eddie first choice but needs help, griff n bayo a gamble imo.

No more p! sh league projects, get in quality if we want to be successful. Just made 9mill on brendan, I expect double that to be spent in the summer.

27 May 2019 07:46:20
So guys what does everyone think we need?

For me it's the defence that needs most work.
2 CBs and 2 full backs 1 for each side.
But remember 2 full backs coming in from America

Midfield a new number 10 to replace rogic and a hard hitting player to add a bit more steel.
Could Henderson set up to compete with Christie for that number 10?

Upfront we have Griffiths coming back and beyo to go with big eddy.
Is that enough? Don't know till we see beyo really. A poacher would be good.

27 May 2019 10:07:29
We need 1 CB and 1 RB as a matter of priority. Then I agree we should then look to add a creative midfielder.

Defence needs the most attention Kev but a proper No 10 and a real poacher would be brilliant.

Definitely need a back up to tierney at LB, definitely need a quality RB, big ajer and jozo look good at centre half and if we got benkovic back, domestically I think we’d get by with them. Wouldn’t be against a solid centre back coming in though full time. Agree 100% definitely need a number 10, rogic was rotten again on Saturday, good that griffiths will be back and still to see what bayo can produce but we need an out and out quality striker. Be interesting to see what the boy shved has to offer aswell, but given the performances this season and the fact there will be a good few going out, whatever business we do we must do the bulk of it early for the champions league qualifiers, that plus it’s fair to say there’s an element of the support unhappy Lennon got the job, so the earlier he gets his squad together and getting positive results the fans will all get behind him.

I'm not 100% convinced by eddy, bayo, griff as our stoking options.

Eddy, yes, but showed this season he can offf the boil. Griff isn't the same guy since 40 goals or Rodgers season 1,its a lot to ask him to be that player after his issues. And bayo would've made more of an impact by now if he was good, he is not the answer. Need 1 maybe 2 good strikers in for competion n back up.

Is arzani staying? Shved, arzani, forrest, sinclair, johnston I'm actually happy with. Maybe have liked Roberts perm n give arzani back.

27 May 2019 10:45:49
We definitely need 2 CBs for the season. We can't be relying on guys like Hendry or playing biton out of position.
I'd be happy with another loan for benko and a permanent signing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just to sum up my last few weeks as a Celtic supporter firstly I didn't get a cup final ticket in either of the ballots even though I was one of very few people who actually sat in stinking weather to see us take on Airdrie and st Johnston yet all those empty seats were in the same ballot as the seats that got filled by those of us on the HTS the result at the crumble dome no scratch the result I don't mind losing to the better team so the performance that's what sticks in my throat simply not good enough couldn't wait for this season to be over but then we go and create history again a treble treble unbelievable not even the lions did this they never even won the Scottish 3 years on the bounce suddenly I remember how it feels to be Celtic the world is looking good again for an hour then we get let down with in my opinion the cheap option in Lennon but still I stood in the rain to welcome our heroes home with the trophy with thousands of like minded excited people to again be let down because of poor planning and ambition by our club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 May 2019 07:29:15
I can't see how it was poor planning by the club that the parade was cancelled.
Surely it was down to the council who didn't put any barriers out and the police for under staffing it?
If you seen the pictures from Edinburgh every street had a barrier on it to stop fans getting on the road.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 May 2019 10:08:51
Exactly the club can’t plan what our fans are going to do or how many are going to turn up. Every man and his dog would want to be part of this amazing achievement.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 May 2019 10:35:24
The poor planning from the club in my opinion was in firstly choosing to make extra income from renting out our stadium on what was going to be a day of possibly making history as we've known since last season this was a possibility and secondly the club has had plenty of time to sit down with council and police to ensure this was all in place long before the day itself and they should never have underestimated that our supporters were going to turn up in their thousand's now I really hate to criticize the club for making money as I'm old enough to remember the bad old days and don't ever want to be back there but I just feel we always come 2nd to money.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 May 2019 13:02:20
To be fair, a lot of our fans were acting like zombies on Sat. I was driving through the merchant city about 8.30pm and loads of them were just walking out on the road with no regards for traffic and then shouting abuse at me for sounding my horn.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

27 May 2019 07:04:34
Lennon isn't stupid. he knows there needs to be decent player recruitment. he would not, and still hasn't signed up as manager yet.
He will need to get the right answers from lawwell before he does.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 May 2019 07:32:43
Why? Because he said we have a strong core of players.
He's right.

We don't need 10 or 11 players here.
I'd say 5 or 6 at most.
Depending on how our players on loan do when they come back it could be less.
They only real area of the team that needs major work is the defence.
We need 4 players in there but remember we have 2 full backs coming in for America.

27 May 2019 08:49:41
Lawman, it would appear that you see what you want to see and that I'm afraid is darkness and negativity. Like too many posters on here you seem to think that our Board and now our new Manager are the enemy. I for one, believe we will romp the league, win the Cups and do our very best in European football, which is geared heavily towards the big (rich) football nations. By all means continue on your morose journey but for the majority of Celtic fans the future is bright and more history will be made in the lifetime of Mr Cornelius Lennon and our fantastic Club.

27 May 2019 10:09:36
Ignatius I really would love to have your blind loyalty. I don't agree that Lennon is the right choice of manager. Will I back him. Too right. Do I think that Lawwell chooses profits over players of course I do and like any fan we always like to see the best players in our team. Have we made a mess of the last few transfer windows. Yes and it's been well documented. Do i think Lawwell is the enemy of the club. I can't believe I'm going to reply to that stupid assertion but no he has the best interests of the club at heart just that most times they are at odds with us fans.
