Alright bhoys and ghirls? I have 4 questions or scenarios regarding the appointment of the new manager. Here we go, do you think PL and DD will appoint A) who they want, B) who they think is best qualified for the job or C) who is actually best for the job or D) who they can afford and who isn't looking for a huge transfer kitty?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I've set it up as a poll, BB. To vote just click here.

A or D. Pretty much the same scheidt. Nothing the past few years has pleasantly surprised me.

Agree0 Disagree0

They're basically looking for someone who they can make their b*tch.

They will fail to take into account that we need a half decent manager who can take us into the champions league year in year out.

Agree0 Disagree0

i would consider just getting into the champions league as a failure. we should be getting to last 16(and further) I feel

im hoping its not long until we hear something official from the board about our "manager targets"

there is no doubt given proper team selections we could of made it this year and kicked on after that, given that there was quite a lot of poor teams that were there for the taken in the last 16

i said before but johansen and griffiths will be standouts I feel in qualifying (and watt if given the chance) cause they always look sharp and wanting to make something happen. last season we didn't have that in qualifying and we looked lost at times and as if it was just a friendly

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks ED, D) seems to be in the lead so far, let's just hope that for once we are surprised and it's B).

Keep the faith!

Agree0 Disagree0

Well no shocks on how the fans voted? Is this really how disillusioned we really are with the current set up?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm afraid that bad choices will sway decisions but it's just not as black and white As this!

Agree0 Disagree0

Keiran I just hope you don’t mean Griffiths will be a stand out fail.

Just worried we are going into Europe with a forward line of Griffiths and Stokes when Liverpool (for example) have Sturridge and Suarez.

Does anyone was to tell me if we do not strengthen how we will negotiate Liverpool - a team who will be far from favourites (play our U19’s and Balde again lol)

it all seems to have went quiet on the manager issue any news anyone!?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would hope that Mr Lawwell has matters in hand here. Should he have been swanning around Lisbon with the Lions last week with this major decision to be made?

An interesting fact is that the Celtic snappers were told no to have any shots with him in them. Know you should not have been there eh Peter?

Agree0 Disagree0

PL is only worried about one thing. his bonus. He does not care about fans or employees(zero contracts).
He along with DD will employ a yes man, on low wages and who will work with the same squad, hoping that we qualify for the CL so they can bank more cash. Also goodbye FF and VVD .
100% negativity from me today.

Agree0 Disagree0

The silence since Feb 2012 on the ongoing corruption and jiggery pokery and the failure to replace our best players with similar quality - plus the clubs poor relationship with the support (eg: GB and Amsterdam) have all disappointed me and Lawell has been right at the heart of it all.
He seems far more concerned with his own 'career' and power to realise what is going on under his nose and what is happening to our beloved Celtic. I fear the next manager was chosen some time ago and he is waiting for the right time to spring it on us - I am not optimistic.
The club has been devalued in certain ways and the fans are being brain washed into expecting less and less.

Interesting fact. I hope it doesn't repeat!

In 1966 Austria won the Eurovision
In 1966 Atletico Madrid won the Spanish Championship
In 1966 Real Madrid won the European Cup
In 1966 England won the World Cup

In 2014 Austria won the Eurovision
In 2014 Atletico Madrid won the Spanish Championship
In 2014 Real Madrid won the European Cup
In 2014? will win the World Cup

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I'll put it this way, if England win the World Cup I GUARANTEE you that we will gain independence! Nothing pi$$es of the Scots like an English success, so every cloud and all that.}

27 May 2014 20:56:27
Respect Ed, never realised your thoughts on the referendum till now. Just reminded me that one of the blokes I go down to the games with fancies them to win the world cup and I stupidly said I'll give you 100/1 and he chucked me a quid. S****** myself now .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm a definite Yes! voter Stevie and have been since the beginning, the alternative doesn't bear thinking about and we've got nothing to lose.}

27 May 2014 22:16:28
Totally agree ed, if the no vote wins ( which i' m pretty sure they will because of the many plastic Scotsmen in our country, you know the ones I mean that turn up at Hampden claiming to be more Scottish than anyone else with their kilts and thick wooly socks and timby's on singing the flooer o scotland) then the Tories will shaft us big style.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - They've been shafting us for years and it ain't going to stop any time soon unless we stop them now.}

My 13 year old son told me these facts with around 10 mins to go in the cl final! A said if real win al give you a tenner to put on England at the World Cup!! No. Beer for me this weekend! Come on you Germans!!

@JimTim: So people are lying if they say they don't miss rangers? Really? The rangers we had a rivalry with have gone. forever, not a few seasons.

I support Celtic regardless of who we are playing and can assure you I do not miss the vile poison this sectarian midden produced.I hope they go bust with a big bang and vanish forever.

They had a chance to when they formed the newco to really instigate something special, a young team building and growing organically, eventually emerging debt free and being run in a proper fashion.Did they? No.They pandered to a sneaky puppet and encouraged this same club nonsense, ironically this is what is really causing their problems.

Lying if you don't miss rangers? Your having a laugh mate.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said GJ.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not to start the new/old debate everyone can have their own opinion But I miss the atmosphere/competitiveness that is generated against rangers and to a lesser extent the edinburgh duo. It's poor to have them all out the top flight but they are where they are for their own failings and we just have to get on with it and strive for a treble and European success

Agree0 Disagree0

Jhedi, first off, thanks for starting a thread on me. Think that might be a first.

Consider you a bit of a leg end as far as these pages go, and that ain't going to change. Naturally, just a difference in opinion.

But, I'm not having a laugh at all. In terms of a football sense I would say I hate Rangers, but to have an enemy surely means to have a respect? Deny it or not.

No game in the world created a buzz, adrenaline, fear or euphoria than an old firm game. For me. And for millions of others. Funny hearing most fans a few year ago saying it was the best game on earth, now they don't miss it. Not being Burleyesque at all but does the league mean as much without Rangers?

No need to go into the old club new club debate, I recognise they deserved punishment (more than they got, powers that be bent over backwards for them) but, hand on heart, just answer me, do you not miss playing them? No, do you not miss beating them? Couldn't care about stats, just a selection if we're being accute about things. My point was that I think people were kidding themselves, and trying to kid others saying they don't miss Rangers.

If you honestly don't miss them, fair enough. That's all tbh mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Speaking to top class coaches from sports other than football, an interesting opinion I heard from one was you should want your biggest rival to be as strong as possible as that will push you to be better and to great heights. I do not miss rangers either but celtic need a strong rival to push them to be the best they can possibly be. I think we will all agree we are no where near that just now.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can share both views on this! On one hand the days building up to the game had you buzzing! Hair standing up on the back of your neck! The days following were always filled with talking points win, lose or draw!

But like you jhedi I don't miss the vile sectarian abuse that they bring! It makes my blood boil even seeing the stereo typical supporters and the way they act "wee r the peepul "! All the abuse they have sang for 2 seasons now, live on tv might I add, and where is the punishment? There seems to be a new breed of zombie also who thinks they are personally responsible for saving their club? The club died! They follow a tribute act and bring a new level if filth that even the due hard supporters cringe about!

Agree0 Disagree0

Who's to say that Aberdeen will not be our new rivals? They have more cash and better players, how long, if ever will it take Sevco to match them, nevermind match Celtic?

Agree0 Disagree0

Get real tompo aberdeen finished thirty points behind 2 seasons ago and 30 points behind last season and will spend possibly nothing to improve their team, just because they won a nameless cup doesn't mean they will challenge just like st mirren the season before or the mighty st Johnstone, other clubs will win the odd cup it doesn't automatically mean they are good it's probably because we failed

Agree0 Disagree0

So how is a team in the league below them with even less money good enough in your eyes?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Edd great site wonder if you could do a poll with all the Edds to see who you all think will be next main man at CP?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Thanks very much Tony. All the other 40 Eds, apart from Zombie-39 (Scottish Zombie supporter), Ed002 (American and not really a supporter of anyone) and Ed004 (Irish and Man Utd) are English and don't really pay much attention to the Scottish game, Ed001 burst out laughing when he heard Coyle was the favourite so that tells you what he thinks, Coyle should get the job!]

just read an article on murat yakin there about possible celtic manager wrote by a celtic fan

most of you may of already read it but gives plenty info and stats of his time with basel if anyone wanting to know much about him

thought might interest you ed if hadnt saw it yet. the link is below not sure if can post it or not

http://90minutecynic.com/celtic-manager-search-murat-yakin-alternative-option/?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - That's a good read Kieran, I would love the board to appoint Yakin, it would make a statement to everyone that they are finally trying to move the club onto the next level. With Mauricio Pochettino looking likely to be appointed at Spurs that's their interest in making Yakin manager finished, he was there choice if Van Gaal and Pochettino turned the job down.
I still can't see our board being so forward thinking though.}

Ed I think Yakin is a great coach and would be good for Celtic, but why did he leave Basle, and do you think he would stay more than 2 yrs? This is my main worry here. As I said in a previous post I not keen on a foreign coach due to this as it seems the norm in Europe.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - He left Basel because he wanted to manage abroad (from Switzerland). Even if he only stayed 2/3 years he would leave the footballing side of things a lot better than when he came in.}

27 May 2014 12:57:06
allright ed any chance u know how muh debt wee have to our name lol because on the sevco page they seem to think its anything from 32 million and 16 million I understand its healthy for a football club to have a small bit of debt? not in the calibre of the old co mind you lol

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Leave the Zombies to worry about it. It keeps their tiny minds occupied while their poxy little club goes into meltdown. }

Just read an article linking us with a few up and coming Dutch stars like vvd! Ones mentioned were dick van dyke, Denise van outen and white van man!

Agree0 Disagree0

Hertz van Rentals is a good bet too. He wouldn't come cheap though.

I am posting this on behalf of my husband "Timalloy" on here.
I have agreed to post this on here as he seems to think that like at home, everybody hangs on his every word, he will not be posting in coming weeks as he recovers from a heart attack. He is out of hospital now but has been told to rest and stay calm, the girls and I have banned him from on here as well all his other activities until he recovers.
Can I add my sincere thanks to the coronary units at Golden Jubilee and Southern General Hospitals for their dedicated staff and all their good work.

Honestly worry about some peoples sanity on here with some of the names they put forward for the celtic managers job.
Surely the only logical candidate is David Moyes! Until he rejects or otherwise,
Do they even take there football seriously? I don't care what anyone says Rangers will be up next year and will be challenging again in 2. So while everyone is playing "hows your favourite ex player for manager" carry on I think we should be looking at proven managers low risk to come in and build a team to win us 10 in a row!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well just chill. Moyes will be manager by thursday according to you anyway.

I've had a gut feeling it will be Moyes since his sacking from MU. But all it is is a gut feeling.

He's a laughing stock atm, but that doesn't bother me. You don't get voted manager of the year the amount he has by being a fool. Will certainly bring stability given time.

Think the coaches he decides to bring in/keep are just as important as the man himself.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 May 2014 10:16:57
And why is David moyes low risk noone is saying they know best we all just have our own opinion on the situation as you do yourself

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly mate, - the only criteria is quality. All this complete nonsense about Larsson/McNamara etc, Hartley has done a far better job than both, but it doesn't mean he's even close to being ready either. If you were judging it on playing ability Murdoch/Jinky/McStay etc etc etc would have been managers long ago. It really makes my blood boil. I would like a top foreign coach with new ideas/more dynamic passing game, I mentioned previously about the German coach Thomas Tuchel being my choice. But I hadn't realized Yakin had left Basle - what a job he did with them(domestically and Europe) closer to home I would be very happy with Moyes, Stevie Clarke, or what about Paul Clement?

Agree0 Disagree0

No pal he's not the only logical choice! Moyes is a good manager but he's never taking a Job ugh us for starters because of the lack of transfer funds!
Why don't we just get sir Alex out of retirement? There's a few ex players that are bad choices but not all! And rangers will be challenging in two years?! Your funny, are u also a ridiculous flapper in your work as u are in life?

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers will not be back in any year mate. they are DEAD remember.
