Use our rumours form to send us celtic transfer rumours.

Evening Ed!

Hope your well Mate?

Have you heard any more about the young Chillian lad Juan Delgado? This is the sort of player I would love to see at Celtic young skilful South American with bags of potential that will hopefully offer something different to what we have and with the right development could make us a healthy profit.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - The rumour was that Juan Delgado would fly in when the team reported for pre-season this week but said last weekend I wasn't 100% convinced. I have a sneaky suspicion that there are some people using the name of CFC to force another club (Wolfsburg?) to play their hand regarding Delgado.}

One for the banter pages rather than rumour, but I would fancy a season loan for Ricky Lambert. Not going to feature or LFC and the appeal of champions league and winning things being the attraction.

I know it won't happen but I think he would do a job!

27 Jun 2015 21:51:36
Said years ago when he was bangin the goals for Bristol rovers that we should go for him! Guys scored goals every team he's been at! His wage would be out of our range now but! Good shout but,would defo do a Job for us!

27 Jun 2015 22:02:31
I think he would score goals for us. Older than our usual transfer targets but could be a good target man and plan b when the passing and pressing isn't showing any breakthrough. Probably still command stupid wages

27 Jun 2015 22:25:58
Thought that myself as Liverpool now have about 6 or 7 strikers and he didn't play much last year. He will probably move to someone like Aston Villa as they will pay him 50k+ a year.

50 more look at 70,80 this guy is well out of our bracket and another over rater prem player, England think they are class because they have a high profile league, but what English player in that league stands out no one, the time of the lampard's beckhams terry rio are done they missed there moment by having managers who did not know how to utilise talent, that league is full over rated players on inflated wages and it will bite them soon, it has already destroyed there national team, won't be long until the super BPL is dead also.

Rant over

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I don't know mate, the money's going to keep pouring in there from Sly as long as people like me and you keep subsidising it. The money we pay compared to what they reinvest in Scottish football not to mention the percentage of of BBC licence fee is reinvested. Well no more from me, I've not paid a licence fee for 4 years and couldn't care less what they do to me but I'm taking the plunge and cancelling Sly Spurts (swear) them! It'll be dodgy streams or the free BT Sports I get next season. I couldn't even tell you I watched SSN - it's just bollocks to encourage gambling. The TV deal should be one thing that should be able to unite fans from all clubs in Scotland but some people can't see the woods for trees and that's nothing to do with 'we need a strong Rangers/Sevco', you can't break the rules of the game just to make more money from a sponsorship deal. We need to deal with the game as it stands not keep going over the same biring stuff over and over again, while we've all been arguing about how bent the SFA and Green, Whyte and Bold Dave are are we've been shafted left right and centre over TV money, you can't even go and watch a game at 3 on a Saturday. Why invest in a ST, in this financial climate, if you don't know when games are going to be played?
Sorry to prattle on there but back to the EPL, here's what Ed002 put on the Liverpool page earlier:
{Ed002's Note - 2017 will see a significant boost in value of Premier League clubs as the first of the new TV monies come through. Some owners will look to sell at this time to reap rewards from their investments. Several clubs will be valued at a level where it will be difficult to find individual buyers so you will see more investment groups (such as FSG) becoming involved. In some case institutional owners (e.g. Far Easter insurance companies, Chinese new money banks etc.) will be looking to investing in the sport in England because the potential returns are high. Whilst FSG keep throwing good money after bad at Liverpool there will come a time that if significant success on field is not happening then they will look to move on. If they were to sell, say, to a Chinese bank then the new owners interest will be in obtaining a return for their investors - and they will look to that return without necessarily continuing to invest in the club.}

I renewed my bt broadband deal about a month ago and specifically asked them if I would be receiving bt sports for free as part of the deal , yes I was told . What they didn't mention was they were creating a bt Europe channel and that was going to cost me an extra fiver a month to watch the champions league games .

Sky have no doubt ruined football, and every sport they get they're grubby hands on golf, f1 etc.
Had an argument with English acquaintance about it, having heard for the 7th time about our amateur league, I lost it with him, and he supports a team fighting relegation every year.

You should look into getting a media box and installing some sports streaming apps on it.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 10:55:44
I have been saying a mass boycott in sky is required. I'd over 1m house holds canceled it at an average of £70 a month that be £70m. Never mind the hit advertising would take with 1m less viewers. This loss in revenue over a couple of months would have to be sat up and took notice of. Not asking for the crazy £120m a year but a minum of say £10m for a top flight side would help build the Scottish brand into a more attractive product. Let's not forget before the creation of the premier league in the 90's English football wasn't that attractive offer (some may say still ain't) but money has help grow and put bells and whistles on it.

Rab I've never heard of a media box, how does it work? Does it improve the quality of live streaming?

Have sly really ruined the game? Is it not the consumer to 'blame' if anybody? Supply and demand and all that. It's global now, and the EPL have marketed their league well. I don't think we'd be sitting here so bitter if it was us on the good end of the TV deals. And FFP is a Hoo-Hah anyway. Clubs will ALWAYS make more than others. Always. And they have a right to. We want more of a chance than other CL clubs granted, but if the SFA turned around and said we could only spend the same as Partick or St.Johnstone, well, we'd be delighted that it was a more level playing field wouldn't we. My advice would be to buy an android or apple tv bix and get it chipped, but I understand if that advice isn't posted.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - FFP isn't about evening the playing field, it's about clubs only spending what they can afford, the money they actually make and not be subsidised by sugardaddies or an oligarch. If DD started spending £100 million a year of his own money we'd soon end up facing sanctions from UEFA, Liverpool are losing circa £1 million a month and that's them in the EPL and played in the CL, they were lucky not to face severer sanctions as were Man City who were fined £49m and had their squad capped.}

28 Jun 2015 13:30:54
I got one at start of season Barry it's very hit or miss. I got it cancelled ssn with best of intentions. Then you spend half your time trying to find a stream for a game and it isn't always great quality. By August my sports were back on. It's a pain were your trying to watch a game and it keeps freezing or cutting out. I've still got it as a back up for things like Ppv boxing. I would love a big sign up idea of 1m boycotters of sky. I would join it and stick with it. Unfortunately until that happens I'll be keeping ssn and bt. No point me having a one man boycott and missing the pleasure of watching the hoops or barca or a decent epl game.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 13:30:50
Aye that wasn't to clear Ed sorry. I know FFP is to protect the clubs so to speak. Always staggers me how big clubs can owe so much money etc. But still, clubs spending money they don't have gives them a bit of an unfair advantage no? I know we're a much smaller country than England. But when you think of how global the game is you can't help but think that the SPL didn't market the game as good as they could. Then again when there's richer clubs in the league next door we never had much of a chance really.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The thing is though that big clubs like Man Utd are in control of their debt (it's debt from the purchase of the club by the Glaziers not overspending) and are paying it off easily at the agreed terms whilst still generating staggering amounts from sponsorships like a minimum of £750 million over the next 10 years from Adidas, more than double what Chelsea get from Adidas and three times what Liverpool get from New Balance.
I was impressed with what Barry Hearn said about the Scottish game a while back apart from him wanting alcohol sold in stadiums. It's like we're standing with our head down, kicking the kerb and shuffling from foot to foot like a nervous schoolboy asking a girl out when it comes to negotiating with TV/media and promoting our game, far too many people from within our game focus on the negativity, even the idiots running it.
My gripe isn't with the EPL, it's with Sly and the spineless fools running our game, let's say Sly Spurts have 1 million Scottish subscribers, that's nearly £30 million a month or £360 million a year yet CFC got about £2m from TV money in season 2013-14. We need to stop comparing ourselves to, and even helping to promote, the EPL and acting like their wee poor brother, leagues in Holland, Switzerland, RD's Norway, Belgium go into negotiations with a figure and they'll work from there, we seem to go in pleading for anything we can get. The only time we should use the EPL as an example is when it comes to the BBC, that's a UK wide tax they are taking and the ratio of payment between the EPL and the SPL is astronomical, they can't even use advertising revenue as the differing factor.
I'd like to see what happened if we decided to have no TV deal and if you wanted to watch CFC you bought a season ticket and games kick-off at 3 pm on a Saturday
Until Scottish football as a whole is getting a fairer deal from them I can't justify subsidising another league to myself any longer but }

28 Jun 2015 14:04:25
Let's get cancelling
Agree with everything. the sfa the fai and the Welsh fa should have all demanded a chunk of this TV money from the fa as part of the involvement in team gb. Not to get political but as a "union" should the government not share investment in Scottish Irish and Welsh football to the magnitude they invest in English football I'm sick of the over rated over hyped and over paid English players. And the media looking for every excuse to paper over cracks
The epl is dross it's not the best league in the world. Black managers are not discriminated against cause of colour maybe it's actually due to talent. I would encourage every Scottish football fan to boycot sky and all other forms of English media and even Scottish media
A Celtic that makes a comment about the ibrox disaster is seen as a bigot and will probably be charged yet a Liverpool fan mentioning Munich will be Scott free
I could go on and on about it but the sfa and spfl are to soft and won't bargain enough and will take the 1st deal offered as they all believe that the epl is the be all and end all of world football

28 Jun 2015 16:26:05
Im with u ed on the sky thing, I would love to boycott them, BBC too for that matter. Only problem is the money Celtic get from them is minimal compared to our turnover. Un fortunately the rest of the SPFL clubs need this money to survive.We are caught in a rock/hard place scenario. But its time we got tougher in our tv deals or tell hem where to go and get back to 3 on a sat again while selling our own streaming rights.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 18:18:20
@BarryBhoy - I'm using an android tv box which has been jailbroken. The fact it has been jailbroken means that it has all restrictions removed which let's you install anything you wish.

What I would say is that to get decent quality streaming you need to have a good internet connection and I would advise against connecting it to wifi and instead plug the ethernet cable right into the box.

There is a thing called stream torrent. If enough people are sharing the torrent you can get full HD quality but still to test for SPFL matches as I only recently got my box.

I would advise that you check out the KODI community forums and post questions in there and get reassurance before buying. All I can is that I love mine but always worthwhile doing your own research.

We've not even muscled up the nuts to get a league sponsor before now never mind ask sky for more ed. Like, how can we have had NO sponsor? Surely anything would have been better han nothing.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's down to the incompetence of the muppets running our game, Jim and I don't believe for a minute that they couldn't find a sponsor, they should make a list of companies they approached public and we'd soon find out how true it was.}

Was wondering what people thoughts would be on our summer transfer policy if we did not make many more signings and instead decided to give young players a chance and try and develop them into future stars?

Personally speaking it would not bother me as long as we had someone of the right quality for CB, LB & striker coming through. If not then I think we need to strengthen these positions over the summer.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

27 Jun 2015 12:14:31
If you gave me the choice between keeping van Dijk and signing no one else or selling him and bringing in a replacement, a new LB, another winger and a striker, I'd keep van Dijk. That would be my priority for the summer

27 Jun 2015 19:21:51
I am not that bothered about a (marque) signing but I think we do need more players in of quality (maybe 2) I don't think we can qualify for the CL with just the present players we have just now win the league yes but not qualify for the CL

Agree0 Disagree2

27 Jun 2015 22:05:32
To me a marque signing is a player who comes into the team works hard and seemlessly adapts to the system Celtic are currently operating at the time. Just because they have made a name for themselves in another team and cost x millions of pounds in transfer fees does not guarantee success as history has shown. I don't like to talk about marque signings but do agree that we require a few more players before the CL qualifiers. LB another CB and CF please.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jun 2015 22:56:49
Forget the marque signings guys , do the likes of Salzburg , Porto , ,gent , Eindhoven etc do the marque signings , no they get players in to suit their style of play and for me that's what matters , never any guarantee we will qualify for cl even if we spent millions on marque signing , for me and it's only my opinion but money wasted down the years to appease the fans has been shocking , Robbie Keane , Roy Keane , ljunberg to name a few were total waste of cash

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Jun 2015 23:50:29
totally agree falkirkbhoy,there are some people on here who think we should pay over the top for some foreign guy just because he's got an exotic sounding name and has some utube video of him banging in some goals or because his price tag is x millions and if we are not prepared to pay this over inflated ridiculous price then it somehow means the board is pennypinching,while real talent in our own country like andy robertson and james mccarthy get transferred down south under our noses,as for margue or marguee or however you spell the word signings is just like your neighbour buying a rollsroyce,so he can say look at me i've got a big car while his kids are running round in other peoples clothes,apoligies to john prine.

Agree0 Disagree1

28 Jun 2015 10:18:18
Marquee signings are gone forever. We're more the Two man fae Argos for TITP for £20 that you leave in the field.
There are still great players out there and when you don't have a pot to piss in you need scouts who know a player.

It's just the way it is.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 13:12:39
Guys, most of the talk is we need a LB, CB and striker. At the moment we have for centre back, VVD, Boyata, Lustig,Ambrose, Mulgrew, OConnell.Do we really need another? Maybe if we lose VVD. At left back we have Izzy who is back to his best though still dodgy at defending, Mulgrew and Matthews if need be. so for me Striker is the only position we need to fill. RD has already said he wants squad trimmed to allow youth to come thro. On the subject of striker Griffiths has really impressed me. I think his record is along the lines of (dont quote me lol) 110 goals in 220 games, that is a phenominal record and he has went up a level every move he has made.There are very few strikers out there when they hit it they hit the target and make the goalie work or score and LG is 1 of them. Imagine we were chasing a striker with that record in Belguim Or Holland they would be demanding 6/7 million minimum.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jun 2015 18:24:53
I am basing the need for a CB on the pretext that van Dijk leaves. While I agree that we have a number of CB, apart from Boyata (assuming he settles quickly) and Lustig (who is often injured), who would you trust out of the others and which of them are of the same calibre as van Dijk?

I actually like Mulgrew, just not at LB, were he is pish and Matthews looks like he will be leaving if we sign Janko from Man Utd.

Hi guys. Haven't posted in a while but wondered if anyone had heard anything about a possible replacement for Zaluska or whether RD is happy with Fasan stepping up?

On a side note I've just been on the Celtic website looking at tickets and Wednesdays game against Den Bosch is no longer available. I'm assuming that means it's a sell out. Should be a good atmosphere.

Hi Guys , Championed young Fasan's case more than most @ Gft 2 he is not the smallest by any means but could maybe fill out a little

His distribution from the back is great, A watched him save a penalty against the Pars in April a think and it was a fantastic penalty save!

The thing that is different for me about him is the manner in which he moves through the air I realise this sounds a bit daft but never seen a goalie move at that pace through the air before to the extent you think upon impact he is in danger of injuring himself! but just seems to be ok any chance you guys get to see him watch for this trait! The bhoy is lighting quick and has every chance of making it BIG in the game IMO

I'd love Finbog to join us, he'd be a great signing.

I also think Ciftci would be a better signing that some people think. He has everything needed for the lone striker role and loves noising up defenders, he's like Diego Costa but obviously not as talented. Still only 23 too.

Ronaldinho would definitely get bums on seats but I think you'd struggle to his bum on a seat on a plane bound for Glasgow in order to sign up for playing during the Scottish winter!
