Hi Ed I see that Stoke sign Dutch winger Afellay on a free transfer. Is he a guy we would be interested in but just find it too difficult to convince nowadays?

On a different note I was watching The Bhoys from Seville today which brought back great memories. What a team that was. Apart from the goalie unfortunately.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - I don't think we'd have much chance of getting Affelay bud, he was on about £38k a week at Barca and will be getting more than that at Stoke. I don't buy all the nonsense about players don't want to play in Scotland, if you pay enough money in wages players will come.}

28 Jul 2015 08:33:12
You might be right ed. It's still frustrating watching clubs like stoke pay far more than Celtic. Do you reckon our wage structure will be reassessed anytime soon?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I can't see it while Pedro is pulling the strings.}

28 Jul 2015 09:19:55
Spot on ED! If u pay these guys the wages they will come! Perfect example is that mob Aberdeen are playin, they've got that guy tymoshchuk that played for shaktar and bayern Munich! I'm sure he's not in the Kazakhstan league for the fun of it! And this team we're playin has spent sum money to! I know we can't attract the top tier players but if we payed the wage we can still attract a higher calibre than we've brought in lately!

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2015 22:16:18
Ed - do you happen to know if Wednesday's game is on Celtic TV or any other channel?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It's not on TV anywhere.}

28 Jul 2015 12:51:36
Ed according to listings on CelticTV the game will be broadcast to viewers outside the UK and Ireland so anyone on their holidays could potentially see the game in a local bar

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I assumed the poster was meaning the UK because he didn't specify he was abroad.}

28 Jul 2015 18:41:30
Yeah now that I've read it again, I think he was meaning that lol

been following the discussion on how Kramer is the answer as cf here are his stats 14/15 EREDIVISE 17 GOALS. 13/14 ERED 7 GOALS 12/13, EERSTE DIV 22 GOALS. 11/12,EERSTE 5 GOALS, 10/11 EERSTE 7 GOALS , 09/10 EERSTE 5 GOALS, 08/09 ERE DIV 0 GOALS 07/08 ERE DIV 0 GOALS . two good seasons one in top div one in second div hardly world beating , if people didn't dislike cifti so much this guy would be getting called the cheap option and the board/pl hammered , whether cifti is good enough we should at least let him fail first before we call him useless /not good enough etc etc, out of curiosity how many didn't think gms and or Armstrong good enough

Believable2 Unbelievable4

27 Jul 2015 22:18:18
this is getting a bit boring now, nobody is wishing ciftci to fail. however many like myself do not think he is good enough from what we have seen at dundee utd, that's IT. We will all still support him and hope he proves us wrong.

Mackay Stevens and Armstrong were highly thought of for the last 12-18 months from most of the celtic fans I know to answer your other question

Agree1 Disagree1

27 Jul 2015 23:39:57
Am I in a minority over Armstrong?
What's he done since coming in? It's a wasted shirt out on left IMO.
GMS was supposedly a bench warmer but looks like a first pick.
I liked SA at Utd but since the Scottish cup final vs St J he's done nowt.
Cifti, reserve judgement for 6 months

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Jul 2015 02:25:58
Nobody is wishing cifti to fail. A ridicolous statement.

Dont understand your point, its a crystal clear scenario. Kramer was 3rd top goalscorer in a better league in scotland and will make a difference as he is exeperienced playing lone striker role and crucially will score goals

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - People would give Ciftci more of a chance if he was a fancy named foreigner... oh wait.... |-)

28 Jul 2015 09:44:14
Never said anybody wanted him to fail .my point was most seem to think he is not good enough and he's yet to play a league game .lets at least give him a season to prove himself. dn 30 kramer has played as many seasons in the second tier and has only had 2 good seasons one in top one in lower

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2015 00:35:24
DN30 - clearly your post was aimed it me as it was me that said that.you claimed its a ridcolous point.

Explain to me if you can why that's a 'ridicolous' statement.

you follow this by pretty much agreeing with me so I assume that's a daft rant aimed elsewhere?

Does anyone know of a pub in Berlin that would be showing the Celtic v Ross County game on Saturday?

The Irish Harp, just off the Kurfurstendam near Adenauer platz.

Does anyone have info on BT Sports CL coverage? Like will they have a new channel? How many games, when will it start( the coverage I mean) etc,etc

Believable1 Unbelievable0

27 Jul 2015 17:32:59
Malika.

Apparently it's an extra £5 per month with an 'opt out' option. BT sport comes 'free' with BT broadband subscription, but an extra fee for the European football package.

On the other hand you can watch rubbish like broad church and miss Marple on ITV as they invest their money on prime viewing nonsense. A quick insight into what it's like to be a ger!😜🍀

27 Jul 2015 18:21:26
The coverage starts when the English teams enter the final qualifying round ( typical) and they claim to cover every match from group stages to the final, live

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - The club will not have wanted the home ties televised to encourage people to turn up, £20 for a ticket - £22 for non-ST holders - is a lot of money to fork out for a game on TV.}

27 Jul 2015 22:22:26
they will also be showing 13 games free to air as was agreed as part of the deal from what I gather. at least 10 of these games will involve UK based teams (more than likely english I would guess)

This is the info I've been told at my work (another broadcaster that shall not be mentioned in case ed007 blocks me in future :-P lol)

Believable2 Unbelievable1

27 Jul 2015 14:37:12
No chance would I bet against us! Ad rather be skint than win a bet that involves us losing! No true Celtic man would bet against his team! It's just not done!!

27 Jul 2015 15:27:42
Well says dh88 jimtim seems to think it's great oh were playing barca were gonae get humped defo may aswell but aw my wages on c'mon jim what's that all about mate

Agree1 Disagree1

27 Jul 2015 15:58:47
I've never done it but I don't see how it makes somebody any less of a fan. Thinking Celtic will get beaten is not the same as wanting Celtic to get beaten. JimTim is quite right IMO, you need to use your head and not your heart when you're gambling.

Agree2 Disagree2

27 Jul 2015 16:03:57
Maybes i'm just not celtic minded?

Agree6 Disagree0

27 Jul 2015 16:10:28
Na got to disagree kev! Winning money on my team getting beat would give me no satisfaction whatsoever! And it doesn't matter if your not wanting them to get beat, your still betting that they will! Sorry but even if I wasn't overly confident going into a game,I would never bet the other team! No chance!

Agree4 Disagree1

27 Jul 2015 16:53:47
Guys every time I bet on Celtic to win we lost. so I never bet on Celtic, however it takes a gambler to bet on your own team to loose and that has nothing to do with not supporting your team ,that is simply about gambling.
its like footballers betting against your team to loose or to get that correct result/ player booked sent off, its just wrong unless your have a gambling addiction.

I will never bet against Celtic NEVER.

Agree3 Disagree2

27 Jul 2015 16:59:21
Dh88, that's fair enough. It wouldn't give you any satisfaction but the sole purpose of gambling is to win money so I don't see what's wrong with others betting against Celtic, especially if their coupon comes in. As I said, like you, I've never done it myself though.

Agree3 Disagree2

27 Jul 2015 17:00:39
I would occasionally bet on Celtic to get beat as you have to use your head when gambling but that doesn't make meany less of a fan as if they win I would not care that my bet has been beaten. I do however try not to bet on Celtic either for or against as I do back them and they lose it hurts even more.

Agree2 Disagree4

27 Jul 2015 17:57:31
I am fed up with posters telling me what is and what is not a true Celtic fan. What gives you the right to preach to me? I have had a season ticket since 1979. I travel 375 miles to a home game. I would suspect that the people preaching about being a celtic fan may not even attend the games. So if anyone wants to bet on or against Celtic winning any game then that is their perogative. I will personally have a bet on the draw on Wednesday evening and I will be there

Agree5 Disagree4

27 Jul 2015 21:08:00
I have and will never bet on Celtic to lose, the same as I have and will never bet on rangers to win. My reasoning is if a game is at say 1-1 going into the last few minutes, there would be no doubt at all as to which end I'd be hoping a winner is scored. If other folk want to bet on Celtic losing then that doesn't make them any less of a supporter in my opinion. and if we do lose then at least the bookies are paying back some of our money to fellow tims

Agree1 Disagree1

27 Jul 2015 21:10:53
Although maybe I should start betting against us which would at the very least guarantee a draw.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jul 2015 14:09:33
Celtic TV have said they are still in negotiations with Uefa about broadcast rights, they will issue a statement tomorrow, then if you are outside UK/Ireland and they get the right you can get it live

27 Jul 2015 14:35:08
So we might not bloody see it then! Raging!

I think to have an impact on champions league we need left back, centre back to complete with Boyata, left winger with good final ball, get rid of stokes and beringer. number 10 creative mf. and big striker. if only carlsberg did celtic teams lol

Believable0 Unbelievable2

27 Jul 2015 10:58:25
GMS is our left winger and I'd say he's easily been our best player so far.

Agree1 Disagree2

27 Jul 2015 12:31:12
I'm sure ul find gms playing on the right most times this season that's what most modern managers do now play right footers on left and lefties on the right.granted I'm happy with gms but we need another one of him with a right foot to play opposite wing

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Jul 2015 12:35:20
To many time we play great football in two thirds of the pitch only for bad desidions making and final ball in the final third

27 Jul 2015 12:35:41

I couldn't make it to the Rennes game on Saturday but from what I've heard we did well, especially with an almost brand new team in the second half. Does anyone know if Rennes can be used as a yardstick for the level of Qarabag? Because I remember we played them in EL a few seasons ago and they weren't a bad side.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jul 2015 09:50:42
Obviously it was a friendly and all but generally speaking i'd assume Rennes were a better side. Football is football but I really don't think there's too much to worry about with this tie. I keep hearing about the distance travel. Qarabag aren't just hopping through some vortex when they come to glasgow. Then the intimidating atmosphere or whatever. I'd rather go to there place than a full Celtic Park. 3-0 then 1-1.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2015 11:00:23
Yeah, I'm fed up hearing about the gruelling trek to the away game. It's the same for both teams. Hopefully you're right JT and we put it to bed in the first game.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Jul 2015 20:52:35
Got to be honest can't see why people are going on about the distance surely they will be a lot more disadvantaged with the fact they have the second leg at home they will have to travel to Glasgow and back before the game we will only have to travel the once so this will be a scapegoat if we get beaten and put out and I for one will not be buying it

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Jul 2015 09:12:50
Yesterday had my usual Sunday pint with my ex bear chums and they really cheered me up, on the back of their win against an injury weakened Hibs team they are backing their team to go UNBEATEN (honest!) but it gets better, they say they will win both League and Scottish Cup
( apparently Warburton has bought "gems" from England) this will give them a "taste of the Europa league" before they "challenge Celtic for CL the following season" I asked them when their next gig at Jongleurs Comedy Club in Glasgow was as I would go along as their comedy was right up there lol

Believable3 Unbelievable0

27 Jul 2015 12:40:26
Tim you are obviously to biased to see that the 2 Wigan reserve players and the 2 out of contract hearts players have turned them into the best team to grace Scottish football for a long time ( well since fat sally led them undefeated through division 3 ). Now can I ask you put your biases to one side and go to change.org and sign the petition for them to be parachuted straight into the champions league. You know it's the right thing to do and we already have the support of ,the record, the sun and radio Clyde .

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Jul 2015 13:27:18
Got to laugh. Don't ask why I'm reading it but look at this Klan member on the Record Sport Hotline:

George Hagen, Kilmacolm , said: “That was a world-class performance from Rangers against Hibs. I think at least six of the players could walk into Celtic’s first team."

Who needs comic strips when you have clowns like this in the papers.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2015 15:54:15
@Fab and Jimtim yes they genuinely believe all the hype about CL in 3 years and their "would I lie to you" chairman promising millions. There is gullible then there are Sevconians lol

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2015 02:21:08
Ok, so in attempts to get in the head of RD here, I believe the squad size for Europe is 25. So who or what would you add to the players below?? I left out the youngsters breaking through, because in my opinion these lads need to prove themself in the league before they get into the European squad:

Keepers

Gordon
Bailly
Fasan

Defenders

Izzy
Mulgrew
VVD
Boyata
Lustig
Ambrose
Fisher
Janko

Midfield/attack

Johansson
Brown
Biton
Rogic
GMS
Armstrong
Commons
Stokes
Forrest
Henderson
Boerritger

Centre forwards

Griffiths
Ciftci
Scepovic

Looking at this, I think it's quite clear we need another defender and definitely 1 or 2 other strikers to allow for injuries/suspensions etc. I know Stokes can play up front, but assuming he and Scepovic leave, I think we need at least another striker and a LB. I know this sums up what everyone has been saying on here, but I thought I'd state the obvious reasons behind these posts

Believable1 Unbelievable1

27 Jul 2015 03:29:07
A can see a few of them above being away soon mate derk stokes maybe even scepovic aswell can't see him having a future atal and if Everton are willing to pay 10 million fir Virgil what's been mentioned if stones goes to Chelsea he will be away aswell and if this were to happen we would be really short in a few areas if the team stayed the way it is right now nobody leaving would be a left back and another cb and cf for me but suppose 5 months to crimbo so can start my wish list to santa already haha

Agree4 Disagree1

27 Jul 2015 15:39:38
Totally agree mate with the possibility of lads moving on. I think the biggest hole we have right now is that if scepovic and stokes leave(which seems likely) we're left with a center forward who's banned for the beginning of the season, and Griffiths. Surely RD must be looking to get a striker in before letting scepovic or stokes go??
